I'm going to admit that I've never stayed in "a cottage" and only at a B&B many, many years ago (and I didn't pay). I'm also kind of a City-guy. So, I'm a bit apprehensive when people tell me they won't be there to let me in - that I can just follow the instructions! Yet, it was as easy as they explained. So, thank you Gayle for answering my repetitive questions! We saw a living social getaway and decided to jump on the opportunity. I' glad we did. The cottages themselves were charming, spacious, and clean. They came with a number of games and books. Even though they don't have anyone on site, getting in and out was really easy. The size of the cottages would actually facilitate a family really well. Unfortunately, we couldn't figure out how to work the tv, but weren't there to watch it anyways, so no worries there. The deal came with a bike rental and percentage off on one item in the store. While in theory it's great to bike around Sonoma, I would note that Napa Street is a pretty major thoroughfare into town (one of those that say the speed limit is 25 but everyone drives 40). It might not have been a big deal had the bikes we got been road bikes instead of mountain bikes and were in better shape! I'd also recommend getting some new locks that don't stick and teaching the staff in front to be a little more helpful. Alas, we did take advantage on the first day to bike around town. Definitely a good way to get around, even if getting back is a bit harry! Overall, a good experience. I'd definitely consider it again on our next trip to Sonoma. read more

My husband and I came here for our first trip to Sonoma together. We stayed here on a Monday and Tuesday. It was the perfect place for our trip to Sonoma and Napa. We unlocked the door and fell in love with the Fall Harvest cottage - so roomy and comfortable and soothing music was playing - personal touches that really make a difference. On top of the table was a welcome letter and keys and as we looked on the shelf and in the fridge Gayle left us complimentary snacks. Included in our package was a booklet of wineries where we could get complimentary tastings and free bike rentals (we didn't use the bikes but would've if we were staying longer). It was very peaceful and quiet. It was close to the square in Sonoma. We would've liked to use the grill but we were here for just a short two days. The only thing we didn't care for was the bathroom door... We are a pretty "privacy in the bathroom" kind of couple so when we first went to use the restroom we found that the sliding bathroom door was difficult to grasp and close all of the way. Not a huge deal but for us it stuck out. We would definitely book another stay here! read more

Very nice cottages - much more room that I expected in Cottage #1. We had a couple of minor problems which the owner took care of immediately. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine, a basket of goodies on our small dining table, and charcuterie on a cutting board in the fridge. We enjoyed the small garden area across from our unit where we sat with wine and talked with our daughters and their partners, and our unit was large enough for us all to comfortably have a game night in the living room with 6 adults. The cottages are right behind a small store/deli which was great for quick snacks and forgotten items. Highly recommend and will be back. Some reviews said you could walk to town, but the road has heavy traffic, too much for me to feel safe walking and it seemed to be about a mile, (didn't measure it, just felt like the distance was a mile or more). read more

I bought a Living Social voucher for $309 for a two night weekend stay in mid-December. It expires March 31, 2012 but it's been impossible to get reservations considering the 20 days that were blackout dates and no availability any weekend I tried to book. Seeing my voucher was near expiration, I tried to book a reservation this month, but there is no availability. I asked if they would honor the voucher if I booked the first week in April - six days after it expires since every cottage is open that weekend. Gayle bluntly said no and that they would credit my Living Social payment, but I would have to pay full price. No thank you. What's also frustrating is that more than 100 vouchers were sold for a place with only four cottages. How the hell is anyone supposed to actually find a weekend that's open with a window of only 10 available weekends until expiration? I buy Living Social deals to try places out and then usually become a regular customer if the experience is great. I will never spend another dollar on this place. IMO they should have been more accommodating. I am angry I wasted any money. Go somewhere else where the customer service is better. read more

My girlfriends and I celebrated my birthday this summer in Sonoma. I had been searching for accommodations for a few weeks and found this place on the inter-web. After reading the Yelp reviews we decided to take a change on Les Petites Maisons and I'm glad we did! We stayed in the Un Soleil cottage which was perfect for the three of us. The main floor has a larger bedroom with a little patio off of it and there is also a bedroom upstairs with a lower ceiling. Guess I should have let the tall girls have the main floor as one of them in particular kept hitting her head. LOL But hell it was my birthday. :P The cottage is super cute with a nice kitchen perfect for having breakfast in before a day of wine tasting. The property also has a little store with baked goods, organic veggies & fruit, ice cream, meats and a coffee bar. It's like it's own little oasis. We enjoyed our stay at Les Petites Maisons and really appreciate all the personal touches including the sweet welcome basket! read more

I loved this place and the little cottage we stayed in. The welcome basket and wine was a beautiful touch. They gave us free bike rentals with a map which got you tons of deals at the wineries you bike to. The showers are smaller about the size of a camper shower. The sound of soft music greeted us as we first stepped into our "little house". A tempting welcome basket of goodies waited on the kitchen counter. We were expecting rustic, spider-webbed cabins but found Les Petites Maisons more à la Martha Stewart/Country Living. Then we were totally surprised at how spacious it was. It had a fully-equipped kitchen; big, clean heated bathroom with locally-produced organic amenities; warm, comfortable bedroom including robes; a huge dining area with a nice wood secretary in the corner; and a cozy living room equipped with satellite TV (tho' not big screen but so what?), stereo, DVD player, CD player and lots of interesting reading material laying about. This is no bare-bones rental unit. Gayle has thoughtfully and warmly decorated every part of this home-away-from-home. A continental breakfast can be delivered to your room or you can make your own. I'm not a morning person and a hotel would require I clean up before going down to spend $20+ for breakfast. I'd rather sit around in my robe until the caffeine kicks in. Les Petites Maisons is dog friendly. Our little dog loved meeting the Bichon who was staying next door. The whole "compound" is gated and we all felt quite comfortable letting the boys chase each other in and out of our "homes" and throughout the yard. (There is even a flashlight for walking "the kids" at night.) Each maison has its own garden area with seating and a "chiminea" so you can warm up by a fire on a cool night. A really nice cheese/deli platter is available to order -- perfect for vegging-out by the fire while sipping your latest winery "find". Besides these individual little yards, there is a larger shared landscaped garden area with a fountain and barbecue equipment for the grill-inclined. Bicycles are available to use to get around. If you're hitting that bakery in the Plaza (about 8 blocks away) the bikes are better than driving so you can work off the calories. A country store ("Sonoma's Best") is on the property. It is a convenient place to pick up some food (deli items, dairy, prepared foods, pastries) and wine/beer to enjoy at "home". This is where Gayle's husband, Tom, reigns over the wine tasting bar part of the store. Tom is a knowledgeable, friendly fellow who really knows and enjoys his wines. If he really likes you, he'll share some secret local eating places that aren't overpriced and don't charge outrageous corkage fees (or none at all!) or haven't been written up in all the tour guides. And to top it all, some of Tom's wines are priced lower than at the winery that produced it! Les Petites Maisons is a wonderful find in the midst of all the commercial "busy-ness" of the wine country. This is not for those seeking a 5-star luxury spa experience but for us, there is absolutely no need to stay anywhere else while visiting the Sonoma area. read more

The owners of "the girl and the fig" have added a comfortable set of cottages to the fig line-up. Situated on the same site as The Fig Pantry, these four cottages are about a mile from Sonoma Plaza and decorated in a variety of wine country color combinations including cream, yellow, burnt orange, red and green. All accommodate up to two guests, except for the largest cottage named Un Soleil which has two smaller beds in an upstairs bedroom. The bathrooms tend to be small, but there are sitting rooms with full entertainment units and fully-equipped kitchenettes in each cottage. If and when The Fig Pantry opens up again, you'll have a hard time finding a reason not to stay here! Les Petites Maisons is not a bed-and-breakfast, nor is it a spa resort, but it is definitely a quiet, casual home away from home in Sonoma Valley. read more

I stayed in the Un Soleil cottage with three of my friends and it was just what we were looking for; a nice weekend getaway. It was adorable, quaint, and more than we expected. The cottage had a small kitchen, a large bedroom downstairs, and smaller bedroom upstairs. The country decor was very cute and inviting. The cottage was really clean, equipped with pots and pans in the kitchen, clean towels in the bathroom, clean sheets and heaters throughout for the cold night. The only drawback was that the heater in the bathroom did not work and the small heater upstairs was not big enough to heat the entire room and keeping the large heater in the living room was over heating the downstairs. Also Gayle was super nice and accommodating; I forgot my iPhone charger and she will be sending it to me in the mail. Overall, this place was amazing and will be making it a yearly tradition. read more

My father and I stayed here last weekend and absolutely loved it. We stayed in the Summer Sun cottage, which is their biggest cottage. The downstairs had a bedroom, living room, kitchen, and bathroom, and the upstairs had a loft with 2 twin beds. Everything we could possibly need was in the kitchen and the robes provided in the bathroom were so soft! They even provided snacks and goodies in the fridge for us. Our favorite part was the communal garden in the center of the complex. Very relaxing with the fountains and flowers, and the patio furniture was comfy. Their staff was friendly and helpful. We required oxygen to be delivered to the cottages prior to arrival and picked up after departure (due to my father's heart condition), and the staff made this process so easy. If you are looking for a "base camp" for exploring the Sonoma wine region, then this is the place you need to stay at. We spent the Fourth of July weekend in the Trois Fleurs cottage and had a great stay. The kitchen was complete enough to whip up a quick breakfast and the living room and outside table, both were great places to relax and read. You are not within close walking distance of the square in Sonoma, but that is really the only slight negative. Otherwise, a nice clean location with a great price for how much room you can stretch out in. read more

The bikes they let you ride are great. 5. The Quatre Etoiles had a nice small little kitchen & fridge. So we would make breakfast and dinner sometimes instead of going out. I am blown away by the details for welcoming a guest, right down to a basket of luscious goodies and beautiful furniture. Even a bathrobe to wear! Closet space, full kitchen, complementary REAL local coffee in-room, a sweet courtyard with a chimenea stocked with wood, singing birds, a beautiful garden to relax in...I've traveled a lot and have rarely encountered such a complete, homey place to stay at such a great price! This place is just great. We absolutely loved our 3-night stay here. Our cottage was adorable, with a tiny kitchen, den with tv, bathroom and bedroom. When we arrived, the staff had left us a bunch of food-related goodies from the gift shop at the front of the property - SO THOUGHTFUL. The location is wonderful. We did wine tours in both Sonoma and Napa during our stay here. If you do some research, you'll find that Napa is WAY more expensive (in all aspects - wine tastings, hotels and restaurants) and they're only 20 minutes apart. Stay here and hire a driver for both days like we did. Also, the cottages are just a few blocks away from Sonoma's ridiculously adorable town square. Lots of awesome restaurants and vineyard tasting rooms! Stay here - you'll love it!!!! Also, at the front of the property is a coffee shop with food AND a wine shop/bar. Last March, we made a reservation online through the Guest Cottages website for this weekend, Labor Day, we received a confirmation email and a confirmation number. When we called today to say that we would be arriving late, they informed us that we actually didn't have a reservation. I forwarded the confirmation email and number and they said that this confirmation was actually made through an online booking service that they had ceased using a week before we made our reservation - but they had not amended their website...... They apologized and said that they had tried to find us a reservation elsewhere but that everywhere was booked this holiday weekend. We, though, found a hotel immediately on hotels.com. It is not a charming cottage but it is, at least, somewhere to stay. We are in a wedding this weekend so canceling the trip was not an option. If you made a reservation at Sonoma's Best Guest Cottages earlier in the year, you may want to check that you actually have a reservation because you may not. read more

This place was just awesome! Quaint cottage with everything you need for a nice romantic weekend in wine country. We spent one day doing a wine tour on a bus, and the second day we took out the bikes (available for free to those who stay at the cottage) and did our own little biking wine tour. I highly recommend doing this! It allowed us to stay as long as we wanted at each place and choose where we wanted to go. On the way, one of the bikes got a flat tire (which can happen due to local bushes with thorns), and Gayle actually rode a new bike over to us at the winery so we could continue our tour. Now THAT is service! Thank you so much Gayle for the great hospitality, generous welcome package (including free tastings at a ton of wineries), and charming lodging. This was an amazing trip and place to stay!! My boyfriend and I stayed here for New Years Eve 2009' in the tres le fleur, the green one. It was a great little cottage; comfy bed, roomy living rooms, kitchen fully stocked with equipment to wisk up something amazing. They offer you complementary bikes to roam around beautiful Sonoma and close to many wineries and delicious restaurants. You will not be disappointed by staying here!!! read more

We stayed at the Deux Jardins back in May 2011. It was our first trip to Napa/Sonoma area and had a delightful stay at our cottage. It was very peaceful and almost like our own house. The beds were comfy and the furnishings were perfect inside the cottages. Very updated and rivals any fancy hotel. Key for us was that they were dog friendly and our little guy was excited to vacation with us. Also, there is a grocery store right out front that has wonderful picnic options, wine tasting, blue bottle coffee on brew, and lots of girl and the fig goodies to purchase. The cottages are just outside the downtown area of Sonoma, we didn't spend too much time at the nearby wineries as we had a few picked out to visit already and didn't have much time. I would definitely recommend this place and will most likely be staying here when we get a chance to visit again from Southern California. read more

I think the Girl and the Fig owners have sold/are trying to sell this property along with the Fig Pantry that sits in front of it (Pantry was closed due to damage caused by a drive-through motorist...) I truly hope any new owners keep the same vibe - I stayed in Trois Fleurs for the IndyCar weekend at Infineon (Aug 22-24, 2008) and adored the cottage, the property and the remote location on the far eastern edge of Sonoma. I found the cottage a perfect size for relaxing and feeling at home and by the end of the weekend was calling the place "my dream home." The cottages were half the cost of many of the hotels I checked for that weekend and are a refreshing change of pace from a typical hotel. Highly recommend for a charming stay - good for a romantic getaway or solitude. read more

The "hotel" is in a area that has manufacturing of some kind and smells of chemicals. It is NOT within walking distance to downtown Sonoma. The furniture was very dated. This area is very run down. I think the owner Gayle had a good idea , just a very bad location, There are many great bed and breakfasts closer to town and MUCH nicer. Check one of the one of them out. We booked one night here at the cottages, and even with an email confirmations the owner "misplaced" our reservation. We drove around trying to contact, and search for someone to help us, since we received no directions on how to check in. We had spent two hours trying to find someone and missed all of our tastings, because the wineries closed at 5pm. When we finally reached someone, she fit us in. Stating she would accommodate us at no charge.. 3 weeks later, I get a phone call from the owner stating she would give us a small discount, revoking the initial offer. I would not stay here again, or recommend... very disorganized. They don't really care about making people satisfied, and really just want your money because they are "running a business". read more

Wonderful home away from home while in Sonoma. We stayed in the back cottage where it was private, quiet and our own little getaway. They provided bicycles that we explored the town on. We barbecued meals on the provided grill and made home-cooked meals in the small but complete kitchen using local ingredients. My review is strictly on the deli coffee house area. Very charming looking place but when you don't hire people who are good at customer service, then you have failed in all surroundings. I was not greeted very nicely, I felt as though they were saying from their eyes, crap another tourist. I live not far from your location and just wanted to take a short drive to another environment. I'm so glad the rest of the people I dropped my money at, their venues were so much more inviting gracious happy and welcoming. Gayle, sometimes you have to have staff meetings with your young people who u hire to show them, teach them it's a game of pleasing the customer always. You get paid for your job to be polite helpful and smile or else work someplace where there are no people contact, It's as simple as that. read more
