We were looking for a place that had a rollin shower, ada accessible, dog friendly and quiet during the 4th of July. I booked it hoping it was everything we needed it to be which is difficult in itself. To our amazement, it was all that and so much more! All staff was WONDERFUL! They were helpful moving our medical equipment to our room & back again to our van. They greet you each afternoon with a glass of wine, movie night and s'mores weather permitting and despite there being many guests with their dogs, it's spread out so it's no problem! Plenty of space to play with your pup & no fleas or tics! This is the first year we've had peace during the 4th of July! Our City gets about 60k tourists a year and not enough manpower to stop the mayhem. Sounds like WW3 so this was exactly what we needed! Hopefully our new summer retreat! They are going to update this place next year so don't worry about the negative reviews. This is a wonderful place! read more

Just left! Thanks Bridget and Lucy! They really went to town and took care of my sister and I. We had a beautiful room with a wood burning fireplace, enjoy the wonderful rainfall shower head, chewed down on the complimentary breakfast, sipped away at their complimentary wine hour and then got all fancy for there delicious restaurant (Litchfield - did a separate post) for dinner. The place is huge! And they are constantly doing upgrades. We just left and they were painting and upgrading without bothering you. Everyone is just so nice and I will definitely be back again with my hubby. Thanks to my sis for hooking it up! Plus, they are so close to wineries, restaurants, town for bodega and bodega bay. Everything! Also, only an hour drive from SF. Loved it! read more

Being a Sonoma County local, it's always nice to take advantage of the "touristy" luxuries you don't always get a chance to enjoy. We felt exceptionally fortunate to have discovered this superb accommodation on our trek up the CA coastline thru to OR. It is FABULOUS!!! Our villa suite was spacious and superbly comfortable. California King bed, premium bedding. Lavish, top notch decor. Wood burning fireplace, all set up to burn for you in front of a super comfortable leather sofa. Bathroom to die for with rain forest shower and jetted spa tub with chandelier. Open air private patio to your room. Words defy this grand facility. Amazing breakfast (including home made cream puffs) in an outstanding dining room, tho you can take it to your villa as it is set up with 2 quaint recessed eating areas, within and outside on your open air private patio, also great for evening star gazing. I could go on and on. Did I mention the heated floor tiles throughout? The delightful young man, very tall, whose name I can't recall, was the innkeeper the evening of our check in. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with everything. He was thorough in explaining all about the resort and our room. He personally walked us to our room and showed and explained all the features of it. There is much to offer on the resort itself with its elegant enclosed hot tub and glassed shower area. There are spa services, evening featured wine tastings, and a fountained putting green. In some ways I hate to share all this as I'm selfishly hoping for continued future availability whenever I'm back in this area. What a gem! read more

We loved our stay here. We came for a romantic getaway and our expectations were surpassed. The facility is beautiful. You enter another world-an old Italian villa. Our room was comfortable, large, cozy with every convenience and luxury including a log burning fireplace that was already stocked with logs and kindling-we just lit a match and voila! We even had a private patio outside our room. We took advantage of the Spa and had a fantastic, relaxing couples massage. The breakfast was good and the dinner in the dining room-"Litchfield's" was excellent. The staff was wonderfully accommodating, informative, helpful and pleasant. Loved it here. We had a marvelous stay. The new owners are really getting this place dialed in. We liked: - Beautiful room with an old Italian-villa-meets-medieval-castle ambiance. Comfortable, cozy, and luxurious. - Fireplace service to the room. Delightful. - The breakfast was very nice and offered at a comfortable weekend hour (9-10am). - Wine tasting, a very nice touch. - The beds were amazing, and I'm very picky when it comes to mattresses. We slept really well. A few very minor issues: - No coat hooks to hang a coat/scarf/hat in the room? - The water is softened, but perhaps too much? - The food basket in the room is nice, but how about more gourmet options suitable for the ambiance? I think toblerone was considered a gourmet chocolate back in the 1990s. And can't even say that much for kit kat, snickers, or pringles. - Hot tub looked great, but was unfortunately under construction while we were there. These are minor quibbles, obviously, and we found the place overall very sweet and our time was thoroughly enjoyable. The whole experience is approaching something truly luxurious, even if it's not quite there yet. Best of all, we interacted with the staff quite a bit, and they were actually nice people -- a truly pleasant luxury! read more

I am here tonight and tomorrow for a wedding and so far delighted with the facility. My husband and I took our mini-moon here. We were severely disappointed. There is zero room service. So if you arrive later in the evening, good luck finding dinner in the small town. The white bedding was stained with blue upon our arrival. The front desk had it replaced. Later discovered the blanket was covered in stains. Reported it to the front desk. They removed the blanket, but never had it replaced. They acted as if it was no big deal that it was stained. The king bed was uncomfortable and felt like it hadn't been replaced in years. Also, the water from the shower smelled really bad. We had zero cell phone reception. The WiFi was terrible and they only had very basic cable. The morning breakfast was okay, but no better than any standard Marriott or Hampton Inn. We ate at the restaurant, which for some reason required reservations. It was almost empty when we were there on our second night. Only 4 protein options (rabbit, filet mignon, halibut, and clams w/chorizo) and I don't eat any of them. We should have left. Restaurant and hotel were way overpriced for what we received. The wooden gate in front of our bedroom door did not close all of the way. Our door was made of all glass and covered in a sheer white curtain. If I didn't have my husband with me, I would have checked out immediately due to not feeling safe. The parking lot is a pain to deal with if you have more than one bag. Their suitcase cart is ancient and very difficult to maneuver. I would NEVER stay here again and would warn all of my friends to not go there. We wanted to leave as soon as we go there, but we stuck it through and tried to enjoy ourselves despite the disappointing accommodations. read more

If I could give Sonoma Coast Villa 10 stars, I would. From the attentive and welcoming staff to the breathtakingly beautiful grounds, this was one of the most pleasant weekend getaways my family and I have had in a long time. First, Hunter was available by phone prior to the stay and during our stay for any questions we had or anything we needed. Because we were coming from 8 hours away and celebrating a special occasion, I wanted everything to be perfect, and she was always available! An absolutely perfect welcome for us! Eric, the fantastic GM, is also always available for anything you may need! Be sure to ask him about his advice on the area, specifically the Redwoods! We also HAVE to acknowledge the incredible restaurant. It is no surprise that this place has been getting major buzz among the locals (which we discovered when we ventured out during our trip). First, they printed out special menus for our party acknowledging our occasion! This personal touch was not only appreciated but made our whole weekend even more special! Chef Stephen has been able to create an exciting and creative menu that shows understanding and care with food that I've never seen in a chef so young! Kylie Li is a fantastic asset to the restaurant, always smiling and taking the time to get to know her guests. Her friendliness and knowledge of the menu make the experience even more special. She is also an incredibly talented wine-pairer, so definitely get her advice before you order! Thanks also to Josh for the great service. We also want to mention the wonderful Karen, who along with Jamie and Julietta, prepared lovely breakfast offerings each morning. However, her impact went well beyond breakfast. She also went above and beyond to take care of our party and in addition to being a talented maker of all things breakfast, she is a kind-hearted and warm person that is an absolute pleasure to meet! Finally, thank you Alex for being especially attentive when it came to our needs regarding our dog, Sebastian. Pets are welcome at the Villa, and when our dog had an unwelcome encounter with an off-leash dog, Alex was there, ready to do whatever he could to help reassure us and be sure that Seb was fine. We had a wonderful stay at the Sonoma Coast Villa. Our room was large and comfortable, the staff was amazing, and the food in the dining room was delicious. This is a great place to stay if you want to enjoy the coast with out having to spend mornings and evening in the cold and fog. It was sunny everyday. We were able to enjoy coffee on our patio in the morning and go to the dining area for wine tasting in the afternoon. read more

I was really excited to take my husband for a much needed weekend getaway. We stayed the weekend of September 14. The location is perfect, quiet, serene, isolated. It was a complete dead zone for our cells (we have AT&T); even with our cellular data on, no signals whatsoever, but that was fine. We joked about the location being the perfect site for a horror movie, especially the area just beyond the rooms where there was old, outdated, broken furniture and equipment stored. Our room was a good size, the king sized bed had the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on. I meant to look at the actual mattress to find out the brand because we need a new one for home. We had a private patio where we had coffee and read or talked in the mornings. The in room fire place was nice and firewood and starters were provided, which was convenient. The bathroom was huge and had a tub and shower, but it was not very clean. There was toilet paper stuck to the wall beside the toilet and little curly hairs in the tub. The on site restaurant's food was phenomenal and the complimentary breakfast was amazing-there were eggs, biscuits & gravy, yogurts, fresh fruits, coffee, tea, and more. Also for dog people, this place is dog friendly. We were actually greeted by a little black poodle looking dog. Downside to this place was the staff. My husband believes it is because his skin is tan. We arrived a bit before our check in time. The lady at the front allowed us to check in, but we didn't receive keys (she said our room was still being clean) so we let her know we were going to take off and we'd be back. An hour and half later we returned, got our keys, and were pointed in the general direction of our room. Another group was checking in as we were going to head to our room and the same lady said, "let me show you to your room," to them. My husband wondered, "why isn't anyone showing us to our room?" We were out at the beach most of the following day. Before we left, we spoke to an employee with dark hair and an accent (French maybe, I don't know) about the complimentary wine tasting that they offer. I enjoy trying new wines, so I thought that would be enjoyable after the day at the beach. She hesitated then replied, "It's at 5:30." After a long day at the beach, we returned, cleaned up, and headed to the wine tasting at 5:40. We couldn't find it, but encountered the same dark haired employee and when we asked, she glared, "It was at 5:30." Confused, I asked, "It's already over? It's only been a few minutes." She then smirked, "Oh, it was at 4:30," and walked away. I don't know if she intentionally told us the wrong time, but... When we were checking out, we were greeted by the dog on the front counter. There was a lady working in the office, but she didn't get up. I don't remember how our conversation started, but I told her that we were checking out and she simply yelled, "Leave the keys on the counter." The was how our time ended. No "thanks for staying with us," or "hope you had a pleasant stay." They truly could not have cared any less. read more

We stayed at Sonoma Coast Villa at the end of May for 3 nights. The grounds are beautiful, serene and quiet and it was exactly what we were looking for. We stayed in villa 17 which was located at the very back of the property and the window looks out to a forest of trees. It's was so peaceful. The trip was rejuvenating and relaxing. Going into the trip we knew that Bodega Bay is very bohemian and rural. If you're expecting lively this area is not the place for you. If you're looking to re-boot and get away from the hustle and bustle of life you can't ask for better. The area is full of ambiance and charm. The room decor was a cross between Tuscany and medieval castle fairy tale. It was beautifully done in rustic tones. The bathroom was huge with jetted bath tub and they provided huge fluffy towels, robes, and slippers. The fireplace in the room was a wonderful added touch. There was a big soft leather couch that sat in front of the fireplace that was great to relax with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine (if you're so inclined). The king sized bed was very comfortable. Over all the room was clean and comfortable. The grounds were beautiful and natural. Breakfast was included with the stay and was served from 9-10 a.m. At first I thought that was very short time but then realized that its a perfect time for fresh breakfast. Who wants food that's been sitting? No Thanks. There were scrambled eggs, bacon, tater tots, fresh rustic bread and butter croissants that were to die for. Even my husband who doesn't like croissants agreed that they were pretty spectacular. It was a good thing we only stayed for 3 days because over indulge in croissants? Yes we did!! Thank you, Ivan (SCV Chef). Additionally, there was fresh fruits and juices, cereal, boiled eggs. There was something for all different tastes and wants. I ate there on the first day and brought food back to our room on the other two. The kitchen staff was nice enough to give me a tray and food boxes and even offered to bring the tray to our room. We also left property to go into Bodega Bay where there are a lot of little restaurants to enjoy great food. Doran beach is also near by. What a wonderful place. My husband and I have stayed here multiple times and enjoyed it every time. On occasion we have been greeted with fresh made cupcakes at the check in counter and a Lisa,the coordinator with a warm smile. The free breakfast has many delicious items and the entire property has beautiful flowers and greenery to calm your mind and relax your senses. They also have a small outdoor area with golfing holes and putting sticks. I have taken one star off because on one occasion we found a dead frog inside by the window, probably snuck in when the window was open, however when we reported it, they came right in and cleaned the area. Hands down, the best lil hidden gem. Hubby and I travel often. Always drove past here but never stayed until last night. Sarah checked us in. Literally, the sweetest most patient person ever. I bugged her all night and she helped with a big smile on her face. The room was cozy and clean. I rip everything apart looking for filth. Here, I found none. The jacuzzi and pool.. you are not kicked out at 9pm like most. It's open at all times. A putting green to play around with. A large firepit. Breakfast was amazing. Homemade and not the basic Danishes. You got eggs, potatoes and what tastes like fresh squeezed orange juice. This morning checking out. Bridgette was amazing. Came to our room and helped us with our bags. Again... another with a sweet smile. Very knowledgeable. Honestly, it takes a lot to please me. This place far exceeded. This is a charming place. EVERYONE is so nice and accommodating. I came here to decompressed, I came to the right place. I felt like I was in my own apartment. I had a spa treatment and my own jacuzzi tub, both marvelous. I walked all the trails and one evening, found a pond. It was before sunset, watching the abundance of sparrows swoop down feeding on bugs and wild blackberries growing everywhere along the pond and trails was a serene picture, one that I will go back to as soon as I can. This is an older style of a resort and can use a facelift and some maintenance but all the positive things outweigh this. Thank you to the staff, keep up the good work! read more

Really enjoyed our time here. The restaurant is amazing the rooms pleasantly quiet. Their "wine hour" is a lovely tasting of four local wines. Eric the sommelier is enjoyable and knowledgeable, he is also the server for dinner. Loved the freshness and variety of the dinner menu. Enjoyed the chef coming out and speaking with patrons. A very relaxing time This place is outside of Bodega, but on the main road from Petaluma. GPS misdirected us, but the staff was great to give us clear directions. After spending a weekend with our friends and family at the Sonoma Coast Villa and Resort, we wanted to write a review as quickly as possible to tell everyone how wonderful it was! We had booked the entire hotel and residence to accommodate guests who were attending our son's wedding at the Secret Gardens venue nearby (which was also wonderful!). In the planning stages, we had nothing but positive experiences with the hotel's event coordinator, Lisa. She went out of her way to accommodate all of our needs and requests, and always with efficiency and kindness. We especially appreciated her compassion in dealing with guests whose plans remained unclear for medical reasons. Once we arrived at the hotel, Erick and Hunter surprised us by doing extra set-up for the rehearsal dinner that we hosted in the villa, and they even provided us with beautiful complimentary bouquets of flowers for the tables. The dinner, catered by the hotel restaurant, was absolutely delicious, and the service was very efficient and pleasant. Our guests also enjoyed the lovely buffet breakfast laid out each morning. We had lots of positive feedback from our guests about their rooms as well, and we thoroughly enjoyed the residence where we stayed. The staff was always attentive and accommodating, and I know my wife was particularly grateful to Hunter for her calming presence in a moment where the stress of hosting a wedding felt a bit overwhelming. Our wedding weekend really could not have been better, and this hotel was a large part of the reason. It was so nice to have so many of our friends and family together in one place and, to have the added bonus of a beautiful residence where we could host the rehearsal party and post-wedding gathering. It made it all feel like a destination wedding! I would highly recommend Sonoma Coast Villa and Resort for hosting large groups, and I hope we can return there sometime soon to enjoy the comfort and relaxation of this place all on our own! read more

We knew that they have a strict cancellation policy but called anyway to see if we could reschedule for next month for my husbands birthday. First of all, this is NOT a resort or a spa! It is a TIRED hotel. And a "RESORT FEE" added at checkout? You have got to be kidding! The TV was old and there were no instructions as to how to get reception. There was a window type portable air conditioner that was loud and tacky. The room used for the massage was a conference room turned into a type of massage room...really sad. No dressing room as any spa would have, no showers, just a small bathroom... We booked a "couples massage" for 90 mins., but after 60 mins. while on the massage table, was told that it was only going to be 60 min. We paid for the package, and felt really cheated as that was the reason we chose to stay there , for the SPA experience. The (short) massage was very nice and the massage therapist's were friendly. That along with the front dest staff who were nice is the reason they get 1 star. They charge for firewood if you want more that 1 fire's worth, and there is NO RESTAURANT. The pictures on the web site are very misleading. The breakfast is sugary muffins and bottled OJ and an apple...really... I could go on and on about the funkiness of this place, but won't. I actually called the corporate headquarters and left messages but the won't return my calls. They own many properties and this one is definitely overlooked by them, or they just don't care. I have stayed in many resorts all over the world and paid less for lots more in every way. I would never recommend this place to anyone unless they wanted to feel that they over-paid for a place that "UNDERDELIVERED"! Maybe because pets are allowed (and noisy children) that someone may feel its a place to stay, but not anyone who is looking for comfort, a resort experience or a pleasant get away, let alone a SPA! read more

Been driving passed this place for years, always wanted to stay. Disappointed now that I have.. The room was nice, clean. Comfortable bed. The grounds were clean..well manicured. Outdoor furniture was super outdated...red and orange cushions were sun bleached and looked dirty. The service was terrible..staff made my partner and I feel unwelcome. Got a real anti-gay vibe from a few of the staff...Hunter was great tho. Food was just OK. I ordered NY strip steak rare..got it medium well. Way over priced food, and hotel. This Hotel is small, 18 rooms, sits off of the main road on your way to Bodega Bay. Brigitte at the reception desk greets you with big smiles and oh so friendly and helpful. She escorted us to our room and brought us a welcome glass of champagne. Laurent did a wine tasting in the late afternoon, sampling local wines. and socializing with the other guests who were from all over the country. It was very nice. We ate at their restaurant, Litchfield's (be sure to make reservations). We had a set 4 course meal and it was excellent. Salad with fresh heirloom tomatoes, Rock Fish Ceviche, Duck with Corn Risotto and Blackberry Salsa, and topped off with a Chocolate Torte with candied Pistachio's and Pistachio gelato. It was so tasty! The rooms are large, sofa facing the large fireplace and cozy beds and bedding. Rainfall shower was a nice addition. Patio off of our room and we saw deer running up the hill. Oh it is a dog friendly hotel. We will absolutely go back it feels like home and very relaxing. read more

Amazing place. From the moment we walked in and were welcomed by Bridget and a glass of champagne we were smitten. Our room was beautiful, clean and comfortable complete with a fire place and jacuzzi tub. We spent a gorgeous hour sitting by the pond and then joined Laurent for an amazing selection of small batch wines and delicious cheeses at the complimentary wine tasting. Dinner at Lichfield's was probably the best food and service I have ever had and the whole atmosphere is a perfect combination of professional and relaxed. The breakfast in the morning was very nice and our last hoorah was a soak in the hot tub and a massage that was fantastic. We are already planning our next trip back and can NOT wait!!!! kudos: nice setting - trees, bushes, bright flowers (at entrance/reception), restful (at first), love listening to the birds through the open window in our room.. ... and special kudos to staff - very welcoming, friendly, helpful quibbles: here we go... upon closer "inspection" - i. e., walking to our villa, an abundance of small and large, dry, empty, cracked flower containers along the walkway and out in the open - more dead/dying plants out in the common areas also. many of the empty flower containers covered in cobwebs... felt like a once elegant resort about to be blown away, into the remnants of the past... most units, such as ours, have an enclosed patio - could be very welcoming, inviting - but nothing but a tall, dead rose tree, another potted plant more dead than alive, dead leaves and debris and a hose tossed in a corner, and a dry and cracked wall fountain on the wall. peeked in some other patios and same thing. again, felt like the beginning of a ghost town... metal stripping along threshold of entrance door loose and ragged, caught my shoe on it. toilet seat so loose it slid from side to side. no ac (and yes, it does get warm/hot inland along the coast) and room was stuffy so had to rely on an oscillating fan (with a broken knob so no choice but to have it oscillate), opening the windows didnt help... note on bathroom wall said complementary slippers in closet for guests to take home - no slippers in closet. complimentary breakfast not served until 9 (most guests out and about by then) and then only for an hour. large dry, cracked fountain pool outside dining room window - ugly (another sign headed towards a ghost town)... this place could be totally spectaluar - on the surface, at first glance... nice...gives a hint of what could be... but in need of a lot of loving care and attention to entice guests to return... as is, i won't... read more

If you want a peaceful getaway this is your place. Beautiful room in a quiet tucked away souronding. Only draw back breakfast is only from 9-10, so set your alarm. Monday and Tuesday the restaurant is not open for dinner. Otherwise this was a perfect quiet getaway for us read more

I have never experienced anything like this. The owner DOES IT ALL. he manage the place and he cooks for everyone. He had the most amazing food, he opened an old port for my birthday. He is kind and focus. We miss the place so much. Hope we can go back one day. read more

I visited on August 6 for two nights. I wish I had more! This is my newest favorite romantic getaway. Beautifully appointed rooms, lavish gardens, peaceful, quiet, secluded cottages and refreshing pool and spa. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and generous. The wine tasting happy hour was just perfect. There are walking and running paths and a putting green. DVD and games in the loft. Truly, I think they've thought of everything. The attached restaurant was farm-to-table and delicious. I have been recommending it to all my friends! Can't wait to go again. Maybe this weekend... read more

My husband and I just managed to slip away for two nights to this amazing escape for a little babymoon. We were blown away by the over the top, above and beyond service we experienced. Bridgett was absolute gold. She greeted us when we arrived, escorted us to our room, and went out of her way to serve us their complimentary wine tasting the second night, even though there weren't any other guests participating. She provided plates and silverware and complimentary water for our take out food and even helped my husband carry it all back to the room. The bathtub in our room (villa 18) was delightful, the chairs were comfortable to lounge in by our wood burning fire place, and we really enjoyed a quiet sit down with our coffee by the pond at the back of the property. We ate a lovely four course meal at Litchfields on our first night and we were NOT disappointed! It was a culinary experience! The flavor combinations and presentation of the food made every penny we spent feel worth it. I can't say enough about the peacefulness and serenity of the property. Even with several families with small children staying there, it was never loud or chaotic. There's a fun little putting green in the middle of the property and the hot tub is tucked away in this quiet little greenery filled room, which makes it really nice to relax in. The grounds were well kept and all the potted plants and botanical touches were one of my favorite parts of our stay. On our last morning we came down to the complimentary breakfast to be told that they were going to customize our breakfast for us that day as the other guests had already come and gone. They laid out a SPREAD for us! We felt so spoiled! Our own French press coffee, eggs to order, a potato scramble, fresh fruit, granola, yogurt, croissants, juice and bottled water! It was such an amazing way to end our stay. There are only a few very small things I would note about the property that prevented a 5 star rating for me and they aren't remotely significant enough to harp on, just some attention to detail items that might help. 1st, there were quite a few cobwebs in the light fixtures and vents in the bathroom. Not a huge deal but an easy fix to make it feel cleaner when you are resting in the tub and looking up. 2nd, for some reason they only use a flat sheet on the bottom part of the king size bed, and it's not big enough to tuck in. That makes for an uncomfortable night sleep as it keeps bunching underneath you every time you move. And last, our private little fountain on our private little patio was broken and had a lot of algae and mosquito larva in it. That is not going to be fun when it warms up. Other than those small things, we absolutely LOVED our stay! We will definitely be back and hope to send our parents to enjoy a couple nights here as well. read more
