Unforgettable VIP Tasting Experience - Incredible Food, Wine & Story! Capo Creek is an absolute hidden gem and hands-down one of the best wine and food pairings we've ever experienced! Highlights: Expertly curated food & wine pairings - Every bite was perfectly matched to enhance the flavors of the wines. Warm, welcoming hospitality - Mary makes you feel like a VIP from the moment you arrive. Inspiring story - Her journey from medicine to winemaking is one of resilience, passion, and reinvention. Gorgeous setting - The ambiance is intimate, relaxed, and perfect for a special experience. Mary's background in science and medicine shines through in how she crafts both her wine and food with precision and creativity. She overcame incredible hurdles--from medical school to building a thriving practice, only to have it taken from her in a business deal beyond her control. Instead of giving up, she turned lemons into lemonade (or grapes into world-class wine!), setting out west to follow her passion. The result? A truly elevated, personal, and one-of-a-kind tasting experience that feels like a mix of a Michelin-level dining experience and an intimate dinner party with a friend who just happens to make exceptional wine. Pro tip: Book the VIP tasting! It's a game-changer if you love great food and wine. This place is pure magic, and we'll be back for sure!

Absolutely Lovely! Mary and I played phone tag for a day. Sorry about that, Mary. Capo Creek is tucked up on the side of a hill in Dry Creek Valley, not far from the Dry Creek General Store. I saw on their web site that they offered a food / wine pairing experience. They actually have a couple of versions. We went with the Ultimate 6 course option. ($165/pp + tax/tip) We enjoyed EVERYTHING! The setting, the view, the service, the food, the wine... Everything. We arrived at our appointed time and were immediately greeted and seated. It was a sunny albeit slightly cool, windy day. So, they had a couple heaters going for us. While the sun was out, the air was a tad chilly so I was thankful for the heaters. I did use my scarf as a head/neck covering since I was getting a bit too much sun on my head. But it felt good to sit outside and soak up the Vitamin D while enjoying a lovely lunch. Halley was our wonderful guide and server. She timed everything beautifully. We never waited nor were rushed. She described the wine and the food for us which was really nice, and even gave us some tidbits and stories about Mary, Bob and the winery. She even let us try their Viognier even though it was not on the menu. If you get a chance... try their Viognier. It's floral, fruity not overly perfumey nor cloying like some can be. It's light/medium-ish bodied and I'm looking forward to pairing it with a random Spring Day by the pool. haha! What's so very NICE about Capo Creek is that they were able to accommodate my Lactose issue. Thank you, Mary and Staff! Our meal included: Olives to nibble on to start Ahi Mango Strawberry "Poke" Wonton / paired with Rose 2023 Butter Poached Lobster / paired with Playlist 2022 (a fun, easy drinking white blend that complimented the buttery lobster) Spinach Tagliatelle / paired with Grenache Reserve 2021 Stuffed Piquillo Petters / paired with Songwriter 2021 (easy drinking red blend that paired nicely with the ever so slightly spicy yet sweet peppers) Steak n Potatoes / paired with Open Mic 2021 (aka their GSM with a couple other blending red varietals) Raspberry sorbet (for me) / paired with Syrah 2021 What was my favorite you ask? If I could only pick 1... I'd say the Ahi. I'm still thinking of it. It was fresh, flavorful and fun! But then the Pasta! Oh the Pasta! Fresh, Homemade... YUM!!! All of the wines were quite nice... and represented their varietals well. The blends were unique and very tasty. All the wines are very approachable and easy to drink. Nothing too big or too overpowering IMO. I could have easily ordered all of them. However, I employed some rare restraints to not buy everything. I did end up buying some Rose and Viognier to have shipped home. And... alas... they shipped FAST! I ordered on Saturday and it arrived days later (on Wednesday via UPS). This is definitely a come, sit back, enjoy the scenery, your wine companions while you sip and nibble kind of place. I can now understand why some folks want to spend all day here. (And now makes sense why Mary reminded me of the time constraints of the different tastings they have available. They are small and need to be able to accommodate all those who book reservations.) OH! And don't forget to give Stella a belly rub... but only if she does not jump and sits nicely first.

We had an AMAZING experience today with Capo. The food, ambiance, and wine was all 10/10. I'm a picky eater from Boston and we started the day with a tough experience hiking the rain, our group wasn't in the best mood. Right away Capo uplifted our spirits being greeted right away, amazing service from Jack, and we got a personal experience from the owner. I would HIGHLY recommend booking if you're in the area.

I can't begin to sing the praises for this wonderful winery! We were visiting my now-in-laws when they first moved to the area, so they took us to one of their favorite spots, Capo Creek. By happenstance, my partner and I were looking for a venue for our wedding, and when we saw Capo Creek; we glanced over at one another with a "this might be the one" kind of look. The scenery was breathtaking with natural beauty and then we met the other gem of the winery, the owners! Mary then took us on a culinary journey with one of the best food and wine pairings we had ever had while making us feel at home and keeping us roaring with laughter just talking about how she and her husband came upon owning the winery. Everything was just enchanting and felt like exactly what we needed/resonated with our values. Needless to say, Mary and the team at Capo Creek organized the best wedding and I can't believe how lucky we were to get married at such a beautiful venue with truly wonderful people making our big day something from a dream. PS: I still dream about our wedding cake, Mary!

It was so hard to choose a winery in Sonoma county. But after doing some googling, I came across a recommendation for Capo Creek and I wanted a food and wine pairing experience so we went to Capo Creek. We made a reservation for the chef/owner of the winery wine pairing. Mary who is the chef/ owner was very friendly and accommodating. She shared her journey of her life and circumstances leading her to Capo Creek. The dishes were simple but seasoned very well. Most importantly, the Capo Creek wines brought out better flavors with food. My husband was very pleased who is not easy to appease when it comes to spending a lot of money. The winery is very charming and quaint. Can take lots of photos that's worthy of Instagram. A memorable experience for myself and my hubby. We ended up buying two bottles of white wine varietal called Playlist. Between the two of us this was our favorite.

I've visited capo multiple times now, but I spent my 27th birthday here! Mary is so welcoming, personable, and funny. She is an amazing, talented chef and curates a very yummy menu. We did the dinner, wine pairing and photos below are what we ate. Every dish and wine has a story and meaning behind it. Perfect experience for a smaller, intimate group but also would be fun to come with a big group. Love love love this place. Ambiance is top notch. We love capo!

Serendipity. Sometimes you just have an experience that is meant to be... We were told about Mary (the owner, chef, and winemaker) after our morning Yoga class while we were visiting Healdsburg. I literally called that morning and the owner Mary picked up the phone with the most inviting personality. How often do you call a winery and talk to the owner? We were there the next day for a 6-course meal and tasting! The property was stunning, the food was delicious and both Marys (owner and GM) made our experience incredibly special. We even got a chance to meet Mary's husband Bob who is still practicing medicine every couple of weeks. You have to visit this vineyard if you are looking for an unforgettable intimate experience. It's inspiring to see this couple follow a dream and put in tremendous work and love to make it successful.

We had the most amazing lunch and wine pairing experience in the greenhouse at Capo Creek! seriously this is a lunch I will never forget. the food and wine were amazing (high end comfort food...yes please!) and it was a cold, rainy day which made for an unbelievable setting in the greenhouse. Mary and Lilly, our servers were the best. Then we spent time chatting with THE Mary, the owner and she exuded passion and love for what she does. We have been to many wineries in the area and have never had such an authentic fun experience. 100% recommend, if you are considering please book now! And if you can do the ultimate lunch in the greenhouse, it is totally worth it! Also I am vegetarian and the food for me was amazing!

Poblano soup. Kept us extra warm on an unseasonably cold day.

We had a wonderful time here. The vibe is more homey than some of the other vineyards in the area, which we really enjoyed. We got more food than we were expecting from our tasting and it was all delicious. Margaret was very engaging and informed about the wine and the estate and the views were lovely.

Capo Creek is a refreshingly authentic Dry Creek Valley winery. First of all every tasting is a good and wine pairing. Mary, the wine maker, is also the chef. Fantastic food and wine. We stayed for the 2.5hr tasting and we're not disappointed. Even walked away with half a case it was so good! Perfect place to stop for a long tasting/lunch while out wine tasting.

I don't normally drink wine but came for the olive oil and the experience and it did not disappoint! I also eventually changed my mind that red wine can be good:) We were seated indoors and Edd gave us the rundown of what we'd be tasting for the afternoon complete with stories and lots of fun facts. (I now look at any bottles that say "cold pressed" with some light skepticism since it's clearly only written there for marketing purposes!) We ordered a selection of the panini sandwiches, the burrata and butternut squash salad, and the charcuterie board. The fire cheese was delicious and the spread was perfect. Throughout lunch, Edd brought us different wines to taste and by the end we were most definitely sold on the Stone Soup (the red version). The olive oil tasting was so much fun. First of all the bread was so delicious. And then we tasted about 15 (?) different olive oils or vinegars. The raspberry, lemon, and garlic ones were clear favorites. My personal favorites were the garlic and sage. Even though it was a bit of a rainy & cloudy day, the views from the patio were beautiful. We finished our wine out by the fire pit outside, and now I really need to come back during the summertime when the skies are more clear for the full experience. I left with lots of olive oil and great Christmas gifts for the family. The four piece olive oil sets are perfect for that and I brought one home for my family and we did our own inspired mini taste testing (I still miss Trattore's bread tho). 10/10 recommend and yes I definitely want to come back for the summer views and this pizza oven I keep reading in all the other reviews:))

Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by Tilley, a rescued Aussie Cattle Dog. I LOVE that they list her as one of the team members on their website. There is a large tasting room, and an outdoor covered patio on a terrace overlooking the vineyard with amazing views. Once we chose where we wanted to sit, our host, Christy, gave us a complementary taste of rose'. The tasting fee is $20 per person, waived with a two-bottle purchase. The tasting menu is mostly reds, but started with a Viognier. We were then offered the chance to try any white that they had open. Such a relaxing and, really, a perfect wine tasting experience. Christy is friendly and knowledgeable. And then Jim Rickards (owner) came over and talked to us for a while. He is very personable, and had some wonderful stories. A tasting worth the drive -- and one we'll remember for years…read more We first met the Mercury team at a recent event in Sausalito and could immediately tell they were offering more than just wine -- there was artistry and playfulness behind every pour. We knew we had to experience their tasting room in Geyserville, and it did not disappoint. In fact, it was the best tasting we've had since 2012 -- hands down. The Vibe The moment we walked into the tasting room, we felt completely welcomed. The energy was light, engaging, and genuine. This wasn't your typical stiff, scripted tasting -- it felt more like visiting a friend who just happens to be incredibly passionate (and knowledgeable) about exceptional wine. You don't just taste here; you connect, laugh, and learn something cool along the way. The Wines Each pour had personality -- creative blends, bold structure, and something memorable in every glass. We ended up taking home a few bottles that are already earmarked for upcoming holiday dinners: 2023 Skins - an orange Chardonnay that stopped us in our tracks. Golden, aromatic, and layered with apricot, pear, and tropical brightness. It's ancient in method but totally modern in vibe -- unlike anything we've had before. 2021 Freddie Rosé - somewhere between a rosé and a light red. Beautiful ruby color, bright cherry, tart quince, and a juicy finish. A standout for its structure and fun factor. 2021 Syrah (Pigoni Vineyard) - deep, rich, and elegant. Cherries, vanilla, and a touch of cocoa. Smooth from start to finish -- the kind of Syrah that feels both grounded and luxurious. 2021 Rocket - a red blend with complexity and finesse. Every sip revealed something new -- cassis, plum, dark cherry. A fantastic wine for a slow evening and good conversation. 2021 Zinfandel (North Coast) - bold and festive, perfect for chilly nights or hearty meals. The kind of Zin that reminds you why the grape got famous in the first place. Each wine told its own story, but together they also reflect the creativity and boldness of the Mercury team. It's not just about making wine -- it's about playing with tradition and making it personal. The Experience This is what tasting should feel like: casual, elevated, and full of joy. You'll laugh, you'll sip, and you'll probably linger longer than you planned. We're already talking about coming back -- not just to try new wines, but to keep this experience going. Because at Mercury, it's not just about what's in the glass -- it's about the people, the energy, and the memories you take with you. Thank you to the whole Mercury team for making our day! We came for the wine and left with so much more.

The food pairings were delicious but we didn't particularly care for most of the wines that we tried. Mercury tasting room in located right in downtown Geyserville. Since Geyserville is so small, it's pretty hard to miss. This place is usually packed with people on busy weekends. The staff in the tasting room were all super welcoming and pleasant. They lead us to their back patio which has a really fun and casual vibe. It's a great place to chill and catch up with friends. Despite how tiny this tasting room looks on the outside, their patio is actually quite spacious. They were pouring wines from their two different wine labels so that everyone could compare the differences in taste. And while both labels did taste different, we weren't really impressed with either. Most of what we tried tasted pretty..... young. Too robust and too tannic. Even when paired with the bites, they still tasted like they needed to age a bit more. The only wine that I liked during the tasting was their Zinfandel, and even that didn't blow me away. Who knows.... It could have just been a bad batch or maybe it was produced from vines that were hit with the smoke from the fires. I really enjoyed the atmosphere but the wines were a bit disappointing. This should really be a 3 star review based off of the wine alone, but since the service and atmosphere was great, I'm bumping it up to a 3.5 aka 4 stars. Although I wasn't too impressed with the wines this time around, I would still come back to try something different on a future visit.

I contacted Gene several weeks in advance of our trip and he managed to address all of our varied interests. Specifically, we were interested in learning more about the winemaking process, biodynamic wineries, and tasting bold reds and some sparkling wine. Gene put together the following schedule for us, and we could not be more thrilled. Stonestreet Winery - Pretty good, but pricey, Cabernet Sauvignon. Too bad because the tasting room staff were really knowledgeable and friendly. Lancaster Estate - Our favorite! Here Gene scheduled a private tour of the estate and wine cave (where the barrels are stored). They only make four wines (sauvignon blanc, a cuvee, a cab, and a signature bordeaux blend), all of which are absolutely impeccable. We even considered joining the wine club, but the waiting list was too long for my patience. Robert Young Estate - Good scion; also known for their chardonnay but I personally found it too buttery. Tasting room staff was kinda tipsy too... Truett Hurst - A biodynamic winery specializing in zinfandel. I especially love their 2006 Red Rooster zin, which is really spicy and unusual (think cloves and cardamom). Montemaggiore - A small (10 acre), organic, estate winery owned by a family that's recently entered the winemaking trade. Gene scheduled an hour-long private chat with the owner/winemaker, and it was a phenomenal educational experience! Highly recommended. Many of the winery staff also seemed to really know and respect Gene, so they also gave us considerably more attention when we would walk in with Gene =) Go to tripadvisor.com if you want to see more reviews of Gene's services.
