The start of a great little vacation in Geyserville. Made tasting reservations ahead of time, but no need. Because of a rainy day, there was no one else there but my wife and I. Had some delicious wine. Hard to pick my favorite. Personal service was great. I wish I could remember the lady's name. She was fun. Started pouring rain right after we got seated, but we were protected and it made it so much cooler. Couldn't get cell service there for some reason, and didn't know the way back, so we drove back the way we came which it turned out if we would have gone the other way, we would have been back to where we were staying in about 5 minutes instead of the 30 it took us. I have been a wine club member for 10 years. The wine keeps getting better each year and it's why we have kept it for so long. This review is in regards to setting up a group tasting for 7 people. We rarely get up for a tasting nowadays since we have two little kids. Probably once a year, if that. When I was trying to book a tasting with a rare day with a few friends the tasting room manager didn't want to provide any comped tastings for us and wanted us to pay for all of them, even though I was a member. On their website it says that we can have a few comped tastings with our membership (and for the record, no I did not expect to have all of them waived for our group). The whole interaction was pretty rude, I did debate canceling our membership during that phone call interaction. The only reason I did not was because we had had so many awesome experiences there with the staff over the years. And for the record our tasting with our friends was fine and our server was extremely nice. We did end up going but this policy of theirs needs to be revisited. One of our friends did end up joining the club since the wine is that good, but I'm not sure I'd book another group tasting here again for how unfriendly the manager was on the phone. read more

A lovely place. Beautiful grounds and plenty of shade with a view to the hills. We did the $20 walk-in tasting. Friendly staff. All 4 of the wines we tasted were really good. They are dog-friendly! (Dogs to kept on leash.) Definitely worth a visit! It's located on Dry Creek Road (easy to find) and there are many wineries to visit along the way. The staff is great, really friendly, very flexible, knowledgeable and make you feel part of the Dutcher crossing family. No wonder we ended up taking the membership here. This was our first time and the minute I walked in to their grounds they reminded me of Bill Weasley's wedding set up from Harry Potter movies and being a Potter fan, I just couldn't resist taking so many pictures. It is beautiful!!!! No really, picturesque property and views. They allow picnic if you make reservations and then you allowed to be there for 1.5 hours although since we went on a less busy weekday, we stayed long and really enjoyed every minute. Cleanest restrooms, green lands, nice breeze and they allow kids. Since mine is 5 months old, they also allowed him to do his tummy time on their beautiful green grass. Their wines, especially the Pinot and the Port, too good!!! We loved all the pours. Thank you!! It's far from where I live but now we have the membership that will force my husband to drive all the way to this beautiful place again. read more

Great people. Fantastic wine. Scenery over the top. We met a couple at Bella vineyards and they told us to come here. Said this was their favorite of all vineyards. It is beautiful. The wine tasting for the day was full of white wines. I'm more of a red drinker so they adjusted to my tastes. We enjoyed a tasting of 5-6 wines. We purchased the proprietors reserve cab which was my favorite. We corked a bottle and walked around. Tried some of the grapes and they were wonderfully sweet. What an amazing experience. From the inviting grounds to the wine & hospitality Dutcher Crossing Winery is one winery not to be missed when visiting the Dry Creek Valley! I have to say out of all the wineries I've been to the staff here has got to be one of the friendliests & funnest (and yes knowledgeable as well regarding the wines) I have encountered which was really refreshing. I'm not saying that all tasting room associates aren't friendly, they are, ok most are, but here it was like hanging out with your best friend. We talked wine, we talked food, we talked about everything and nothing and we joked. And then we talked about the awesome music that they had playing from back in the.....well let's just say it's my era of music & we won't say how long ago that was. LOL But back to the wines. My friend & I went in with no reservations, the tasting room is very quaint & the tasting fee is $20 which is the norm for most of Sonoma County and very reasonable. Now some wineries will waive the tasting fee if a bottle or 2 are purchased but that is not the case here. Some individuals get upset about that but I'm fine with it, as, like I said, the tasting fee is very reasonable. If you are a wine club member the tasting fee is waived. I won't go into the different wines, the tastes, varietals, etc., as everyones tastes differ. What I will say is I enjoyed all of the wines we tasted. If I had to pick a favorite I'd have to say the Petite Sirah was a favorite of mine, though I could drink all of their wines with no hesitation. Another nice thing about this winery is you can actually go out to their large lawn area and have a picnic, purchase a bottle of wine & bask in the sun, play a game or 2 of corn hole and just relax. I definitely plan on returning when I'm back out in the Dry Creek Valley area. read more

What a lovely place and very tasty wines. I went here with a group our ladies for our monthly wine tasting day out. We were treated to several wines: 2016 Sav Blanc - very tasty with a slight bit of spice 2015 Chard - on the light side, very refreshing 2014 Moboroshi Reserve Pinot Noir - liked this alot 2015 Reserve Zin 2014 Proprietor's Cab Our server was "Laney" and she was great! She did an excellent job of managing a group of 10 chatty gals. She really knew her "stuff" and was fun, funny and a real treat! The grounds are quite lovely - a great place for a picnic. I was only the area for 2 nights. I was so happy to come across DC. The tasting room was pleasant and relaxing After grabbing a glass of wine, I walked out the doors that lead out to their spacious views of the vineyard. Seating was all in shades area and well planned out. Views are spectacular and the wines are declicous. A special shout out to Jennifer and her hosting my tasting event. We ended up here with ten adults and five little ones. We tried six wines by the bottle, all enjoyable but expensive, which will surprise no one familiar with how wineries currently operate for in-person visits. However, we were all put off when the hostess attempted (twice) to charge us for sitting down in some unoccupied chairs which she said were reserved, but our party was the only one on the premises. Exceptional reds here. Really good, especially for fans of zin. Everything about Dutcher Crossing is pretty terrific actually, from the bucolic setting in the center of Dry Creek Valley, to the large, relatively-new tasting room where you sip surrounded by cathedral windows that open on to vine and mountain views, to the friendly, helpful staff. We loved this winery --there are some really good, drinkable wines, particularly reds here. They have such a beautiful situation under a leafy arbor set up for members. We got a tasting card from Bella (also a fun spot to taste in the area) for a free tasting, since they have a complimentary relationship, which made coming here even more convivial. After hearing so much about Dutcher Crossing wines from friends, such a nice surprise to find a place producing such consistently big tasty reds to be so friendly, easy going, and welcoming. read more

A tip from a friend and a weekend in the Wine Country, I knew even before arriving that I would be begging (BEGGING) to be a wine club member. But first I had to taste. We stopped in on a warm afternoon in May with two of our friends. Even before we had a chance to settle in, there were four glasses resting on the counter. We started off by tasting a rose which was the perfect way to begin our sampling. We ended sipping on a bold blend, it was then I scrambled for a wine club application. Every wine we tasted was phenomenal. But what impressed me more than anything else was the friendliness of the staff who not only touted their wines, but also made a list of other wineries that we might consider visiting in the area. That was major bonus points for me! The winery also has a nice picnic area in the back that we took full advantage of and had a wine and cheese lunch while taking in the views. The tasting room at Dutcher Crossing offers any wine lover one of the best tasting experiences in Dry Creek. The staff are down to earth, knowledgable and you gotta love the fact that are into "heavy pours". The associates are friendly and work hard to make sure that the tasters enjoyment is maximized. read more

Being local, I had planned a nice day showing my out of town guest a few wineries in the Dry Creek area. After a nice visit wandering the gardens at Ferrari-Carano, we headed over to Dutcher Crossing. I had never visited before but the reviews and descriptions sounded good. What a let down. The folks behind the wine tasting counter had zero interest in showing us their wines. This was a Thursday afternoon and there were only 2 other groups, both sitting outside. The lady did mention that if we wanted to purchase and take a bottle outside it would ONLY be another $50 to sit at the shaded tables! Before leaving I asked them about the VISA Signature promotion, because one of the reasons I stopped in was because I saw it highlighted on the VISA site. She was quick to let me know that they were no longer a member in the program, even though they were still advertised on the site. I will be informing VISA of the discrepancy. read more

I am so disappointed. I really wanted to like this winery. We did end up tasting at the bar instead of the tables outside because we were running late. I did call them to let them know we were running late and they said that 4:00 would be no problem. Problem number #1 Beware going to the winery at the end of the day. Clearly they had better things to do and we lost our girl after the first two servings of wine. Literally disappeared. Problem number #2 they were preparing for a wine event the next day. Lesson learned to call ahead and find out if they're having an event the next day. More than likely you won't get the attention that makes your tasting experience exceptional. The tasting experience was one of the worst I have ever had. We were out of there by 4:30 and I get the feeling that is exactly what they wanted. read more

This winery was one of the most beautiful and tranquil experiences I have ever had in wine country. Located off the beaten path, Dutcher Crossing is located on a beautiful rolling estate. It's so peaceful and I really felt calm and in touch with nature there. The views and botanicals are breathtaking. The hospitality was top notch. While we were there, we were greeted by Mary and a young man whose name I don't remember (maybe Christian?) and they were both so kind. Mary encouraged us to take our time and enjoy the wine tasting, and tailored her selection to our tastes. Christian (?) offered to take our photo and made sure we were having a good experience. We had an A++ experience that wasn't rushed, high pressure, or condescending like you get at some wineries. And the wine itself was delicious! We purchased several bottles. We also purchased a lot of merchandise. The tasting room has such lovely, curated gifts. Wines are great, reasonably priced so we joined the wine club. Grounds are pretty but not spectacular. So don't go for the grounds. This really is a good lower to mid-priced wine. Not only did we join the club we took two bottles back to the house to have over our trip. The menu is good for any occasion and a wine you can drink with a normal dinner, not one hats so expensive you save it for special occasions. Our server was a little quirky but nice. I simply love the wines here. Each year at the passport to dry creek they nail at least one of my favorites from the entire trip. This year it was the 2015 Proprietor's Reserve Zin. My lord what a sexy wine. It is a full and wonderfully smooth and mellow yet not something you need a hunk of red meat to enjoy. As for the winery itself it is always ready to roll with the big crowds from passport and has some wonderful food pairings although I did miss the hog island oysters! We've been wine club members here for a little over three years and couldn't be happier. The wines are priced very reasonably (we receive six bottles of reds-only twice a year), and we're consistently impressed with their offerings. My husband and I visited the winery last week for a tasting and to enjoy their amazing views of the Dry Creek Valley. They were quite busy on a Saturday around 3pm, but the tasting room manager immediately gave us a warm welcome, cleared an area for a tasting, and introduced himself even before we told him we were club members. We were really blown away by their most recent release, the 2014 Chenoweth Vineyard Pinot Noir. It is still very young and will need decanting if you want to drink it now, but with the cherry and earthy notes, I can't wait to see what this develops into down the road. Don't forget to take a minute and go out onto the back patio to take in the views. There are several picnic tables under a pergola, which would be perfect for a picnic. read more

Not many wineries are willing to accommodate such a large group, but since it was earlier in the day, we got two private tables in the courtyard. We tasted 5 wines for 5 bucks. I'm not a wine connoisseur by any means, but they were all great! I typically don't like whites, but they have some of the best Chardonnay I've ever had. Our group went home with a few bottles of it. With the beautiful views, great wine, and younger feel to it, we decided to join the wine club. There are wine club parties almost every month and you get two bottles of wine 4 times a year. Definitely one of the most affordable wine clubs in the area. I could go on and on saying great things about the winery, but you'll have to check it out yourself. I've been a club member at Dutcher Crossing for over 2 years now. I fell in love with the beautiful tasting room and picnic grounds. Now they have expanded and included a bocci ball court and a small garden. The views are incredible and worth the drive up to the top of Dry Creek Road. Not to mention that the drive is picturesque as well. Inside there is a fireplace and a few comfy chairs to sit and relax, but I am usually outside enjoying the ever changing view of the hillside and vineyards. Nice tasting room and grounds, excellent wines, very friendly (and funny) staff, plus an interesting story (these are the folks who founded Perrier water) behind the winery.
