My first time at this location and I like that you can go inside and order, have a seat inside and use restroom too. Hubby and I came by for a snack after a visit to hospital close by. We order to all American hot dogs, large diet cherry limeade and a small tropical cream slush. Our server came out pretty quickly with our food and enough napkins. This place has the WORST customer service. The food is fine but if the people make it to where you never want to come back that not a great business plan Sonic, Vacaville. This has happened multiple times at the drive thru. The window employees literally toss the food at you and then slam the window shut. My son and I came to Sonic after his doctor's appointment for lunch. We chose here today specifically abuse the parking lot is also a "park and ride" with 5 EV level 2 chargers, so I was able to charge my EV while eating here. Ordering is simple. If you park your car in the drive/in spot, you can place your order through the menu kiosk which is available at each spot. If you rather order at the building and eat at one of the few table inside or outside, there is an order kiosk inside and one outside. The food is delivered to you by an employee. They used to roller skate out to your car to deliver your food, but I noticed the 2 people delivering food that day did not roller skate. I got the Double Sonic Smash Burger and it was very good with nice seasoning. My son got the Supersonic Double Cheeseburger and Strawberry Shake (my son really love their shakes). The 2 stars is for the person who filled my order. My fault, I know better than to equate the commercial with reality. That said, the young lady helped me was great. Friendly, great smile and quick Now, the food, I got the Double Smash Burger, tater tots and an unsweet iced tea w/lemon. A HUGE disappointment, 1st the Double Smash Burger was overcooked, I mean, really overcooked tasted like charcoal. I also didn't realize the name included the whole burger not just the patties. The medium tots were like 10? maybe. And the iced tea, it's supposed to be fresh brewed, I had to ask myself what the teabag to water ratio was, because it looks like 1 teabag per gallon of water. Came here on the way home to Sacramento from the bay last Sunday 9/30 for a quick bite. The pickle fries I got were soggy but the chili dog was good. However, this review is in response to the severe food poisoning my husband got from the burger. He told me it tasted funny but I thought he was being silly because he doesn't normally eat or like sonic. However, within 24 hours he became very ill with fever, chills, and everything else. It's lasted over 7 days and turned into a severe infection in his intestines. His Dr said he suffered from severe food poisoning and treated him for colitis. I've been going to this location ever since it opened as a teenager. Was the spot for most. Lately I feel it has employees that really don't seem to care. A month ago I drove 30 mins just to have them close an hour early without a sign or heads up. Now I came in for the 7pm half off shakes my friend ordered food ahead of time. The carhop Sara brought the food and i confirmed with Sara about the deal she confirmed that it was available to get after 7pm online or through the app, after 7pm we all tried to get the shakes it wasn't showing up. Waited 10 mins tried again... refreshed the app still had issues. So I asked what do we do if the apps not pulling up the price. They had management come to help. When they got out I explained the issue. She said that deals no. Longer going on. It was ment for June. Last I checked when a deal is gone all promotions need to be removed because it's no longer valid. So I say you should of removed this pointing at the promotion she agreed and walked away. It's great that this is the expectations ate fast food.I have been a loyal customer of this establishment since it first opened when I was a teenager. It used to be a popular spot for many people. However, I have recently noticed a decline in the quality of service provided by the employees. A month ago, I drove for 30 minutes to visit the establishment, only to find that it had closed an hour early without any prior notice or signage. Today, I arrived at 7 pm to take advantage of the half-off shakes promotion. My friend had already placed an order for food ahead of time. The carhop, Sara, brought the food to our table. I asked her about the shake promotion, and she confirmed that it was still available after 7 pm, both online and through the app. However, when we tried to order the shakes after 7 pm, the promotion was not showing up on the app. We waited for 10 minutes and tried again, but the issue persisted. I approached the staff and asked what we should do since the app was not displaying the correct price. A manager came out to assist us. When I explained the situation to her, she informed me that the promotion had ended and was only valid during the month of June. I pointed out that when a promotion ends, all promotional materials should be removed to avoid confusion. The manager agreed and walked away without offering any further assistance. I wish there was a different sonic in town because this location never ever fails to disappoint me beyond comprehension. Employees are always extremely rude, and occasionally borderline hostile. They are so weirdly stingy with the groovy sauce that is supposed to come with the fries, like they'll tell you they'll have to charge you if you try and ask for it too. Even when charged they don't give it to you. I used to live somewhere else and loved sonic there, and the foods not bad here but the vibes from the employees make me never want to eat here anymore. On Saturday my boyfriend and I ordered dessert from their drive-through to enjoy something sweet on the way back to town from our day trip. Whenever I think of Sonic it brings me back to that commercial if you've seen it where they brought your food out to you on roller skates. Didn't see that, but our cashier in the drive-through was very sweet when they took our order! This spot was happenin, teens here and there were lined up, sipping shakes and enjoying the night. I ordered the Medium SONIC Blast® made with Snickers® bar for dessert. From the creamy, sweet vanilla ice cream, decadent caramel and one of my personal favorite bars..Snickers, it was love at first spoonful! As the slogan goes, "Hungry?" "Why wait?" If you've ever had a Blizzard before, this is the same idea. Their are chunks of Snickers Bar throughout and the ice cream is thick, so all you'll need is a spoon. I would definitely recommend this location and am looking forward to trying more off their varied menu next time we're in town! I'm in Vacaville tonight. I saw this Sonic Drive-in more than a few times going to the Supermarket in the neighborhood. There's nothing more All-American than a Cheeseburger. I had Sonic Drive-In four days ago. There's something nostalgic and timeless about a Drive-In just like a Diner. I was thinking I was going to get a regular Cheeseburger there, but I happen to see they got a new item on the menu. I said I had to do the Double Sonic Smasher again. The last time I had it was so good. I feel like a Burger without Cheese, it's just a waste of my time. I don't know if the Double Sonic Smasher is better than Smashburger. It sure is somewhat better than Carl's Jr. And it's very consistent. It's close to an In-N-Out Burger, but it's slightly too consistent to be an In-N-Out Burger or Fat Burger. Not saying it's a good or bad thing, if that's the type of texture, feel, and style you're going for then it's what you're going for. Carl's Jr. is very hit or miss, it's probably 3.5-4.0 stars, it's the most inconsistent but successful Cheeseburger you can get. I like Sonic Drive-in's Pickle, it's briney, crunchy, and fresh. And if they don't know, they know now. Everytime I'm at Sonic Drive-in, I always got to get the Potato Tots and Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce. Tots are Hash Browns in disguise. The only thing that separates Tots from being Hash Browns is its shape. And I don't have to get Breakfast, to get Tots. There's no other place that does Cherry Limeade or Cherry Vanilla Coca-Cola quite like this. I give this a flat 4 stars. read more

Easy on easy off of the Freeway to get here. The drive through line is usually long, recommend you go to one of the boxes. Some of them do not work so cross your fingers you drive to a working one. Went here in December 2021 after ordering ahead with their app. I am only writing now cuz I realized that I did not delete the app like I thought I did. Then I checked Yelp to see if I wrote a review cuz this experience was awful and I didn't so here goes.... After placing my order ahead of time, I arrived and the stall I pulled into didn't even have a parking space number or the electric menu/order contraption set up so I could get help from my car. In fact it was two stalls that were just empty parking bays. When you arrive, you're supposed to be able to enter your space number on your phone so they know what car to bring it to. All the other stalls were either taken up or blocked off with yellow tape for some reason. There was only one row of available parking. Frustrated I could not just have it delivered to my car, I exit my car and walk inside and a surprise surprise, there is no counter and no workers immediately visible. There is only an indoor version of that stupid electric menu. I open the door to the left where I can see thru the small 1 foot window people working and I realize it was employee only area so I step back. An employee approached me and I had to tell him I ordered on the app but my stall had no ID. I stand outside waiting and he later gives me the food. To add insult to injury, the food was so mediocre I vowed not to return. How you gonna have the order ahead feature available when you don't have the set-up right and make your customers jump through hoops? I would've been less irritated if I just went through the drive-thru but then again I wouldn't have bothered to select that restaurant if it wasn't for the app. Anyway I deleted the app today. OK, I was cruising up to Sac-Town (Sacramento for you non NorCal folks) when I decide to stop in Vacaville and take a break. I notice no cars in this Sonic drive-thru, so I decide to hit it and grab some fast food. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries. A longtime ago, I was a fast food shift mgr. The cheeseburger was ok, but nothing close to perfection. I didn't really do a burger analysis, because I had to eat and go. But everything was good, except the bun wasn't toasted. The condiments appeared properly distributed. Meat was cooked thoroughly. Can't really complain. The fries were crispy, and not too salty. So overall a good quick meal. I came across an Instagram post announcing the new Cheesecake Blast and knew I had to give it a try. I came to this Sonic on a Friday evening around 7pm and the drive-thru line was long but nothing too crazy. I ended up really liking the Cheesecake Blast and came back about a week later to get it again. It was shortly after opening, and the girl working the drive-thru told me that they didn't have any. I decided to try for it again later in the evening. I called to make sure they had it before making the drive out. No one picked up, so I decided to take a chance and just head over. A section of stalls was closed off so the drive-thru line was ridiculously long and we ended up just driving off. I tried again on a recent Friday around 8pm and the line once again was crazy long. I ended up just coming back the next day around 2:30pm and while the line was still long (a section of stalls was still closed off), we waited it out in the drive-thru line. It was pretty chaotic with the line extending through the parking lot and cars trying to get in and out. Some people ended up getting out of the line and placing orders at open stalls (or on the app and parking at the stalls) and those people got their food and drove off way before we did. When we finally got to the window, we were told we had to wait for the Cheesecake Blasts and were asked to pull up to the front. Before driving off, we asked where to go if in the future we placed an order through their app, but we did not get a clear answer. The place they told us to park at to wait for our order (in front of the door) was not meant to be used as a parking spot as the cars in the open stalls were close and didn't have much room for backing out (and someone almost backed out into our car). It just felt like a nightmare of an experience all around, and to top it all off, I thought the Cheesecake Blast had a sour taste to it that day. After such disappointing experiences, I don't plan to come back anytime soon. read more

This review is for the shakes, slushies and drinks. If you want to customized your drink or just in the mood for some thing different come to Sonic. Their menu has many options of flavors and add ins to choose from. My family loves their cherry limade. We get the 44 oz and we share it. So refreshing. Other times we will get their blue coconut with cream slush. This reminds me of Hawaiian shaved ice. They do add a lot of ice but you can customize it with half or a quarter of the cup full of ice. The drinks inside are cold anyway, you don't need that much ice. One way to save money, is to order from the app. If you order from the app, anytime of the day drinks are 1/2 off. Occasionally, you get special pricing on items through the app. My kids also enjoy just sitting in the car, enjoying the music, talking and having fun. read more
