I grew up going to the Fosters Freeze location in Berkeley, so it's refreshing to have a location a little closer. My husband and I dined at this location, while we were still dating, a few years ago. Our most recent visit, we brought our little one with us. She enjoyed her first time dining at Fosters Freeze. The service was great. The staff were friendly and patient (since we didn't know what we wanted to order from their menu). They are also knowledgeable of the menu as well. The food was delicious. The chili cheese dog was well-seasoned and quite flavorful. The French fries and chicken strips weee also good. And, of course, a Fosters Freeze visit isn't complete without ice cream. My best friend and I have a bit of a tradition: any time we go to Vacaville, we have to get ice cream at Fosters Freeze. This place has such a cool retro vibe, but I love an icy treat on a warm evening under their patio lights. I usually get a small chocolate dip cone with their signature curly-q, but today I decided to try a shake for the first time and it is a super generous size for a small--I do wish they offered chunky peanut butter and a larger straw to go with it, though! Service at the ice cream counter can sometimes be slow because there's usually one or two people, so if a lot of people are there for ice cream it can get crowded and a bit backed up. I'm in Vacaville today. It was raining very hard today. The last time I saw a Fosters Freeze was in Napa 4 months ago. This is a California based Creamery, they're known for the Ice Cream here. It looks somewhat old fashioned, retro, and rustic in here. But all their branding, packaging, and logo is up-to-date and current. There's an Elvis Presley It's Now or Never authentic and collector's edition RIAA Certified Platinum RCA Record from 64 years ago mounted on the wall. I mean, it's not the real thing like one of the RIAA Certified Gold Plaques hung up at the Recording Lab in Fremont I worked with, but it's still cool. I liked Chili. Chili always been part of Southwest culture. Chili is as relevant as Clam Chowder, Split Pea Soup, French Onion Soup, Minestrone, and Masa Dumpling Chicken Noodle Soup. But it's even better on Fries, Chili Cheese Fries is as important as Crunchy Tacos and Pizza. This is a Large Chili Cheese Fries. I didn't think they were going to use Crinkle Cut Fries, but it worked. I had a lot of salty Chili Cheese Fries out there. This one is actually good. And thanks to Jasmine that works at the front, she's also a pretty girl that happen to also have the same name Jasmine that made my large Chocolate Chip Milkshake. I love Chocolate. The owners take great care in ensuring your meal is prepared in a clean environment and simple things like fresh sandwich bun & fried foods prepared in the right oiL, make a difference. The interior is small and a bit dated, clean though. The menu, with prices, are up on the back wall about 15 feet back behind the cash registers. Going to Foster Freeze is like going back to my childhood. The soft serve and great service always makes it a treat to go back.
