Had a party of 35 where we were able to have a post-family camping lunch and ice cream! Food was solid and having the set menu made everything smooth. Everyone was satisfied and loved their ice creams. Kris had amazing service alongside with Kat. They were very helpful, kind, and courteous. I've been a fan of the iconic Fenton's since my undergrad days, visiting their location in Oakland. We stopped by the ice cream counter line on a weekday afternoon to get a scoop for our kiddo. There was a steady line & initially only one worker, so he was kept busy & there was quite a wait. The party in front of us was chatty & indecisive, but he was patient. You can't see all the flavors in the cases in front, but a list is on the wall. We ordered a scoop of Butter Brickle in a dry, straightforward transaction. It was one of the flavors in a back fridge that wasn't in the visible cases. The scoop looked different than what I thought it would. We went to sit by the big windows on a comfortable cushioned bench. Once we tasted it, turns out it was the wrong flavor, obviously Black Walnut. Luckily, the kiddo thought it still tasted good & we didn't bother getting it fixed. Still, getting an incorrect scoop isn't great. In the counter area, there's a self-accessible water dispenser. There is also branded merchandise, & packaged food items like taffy, cookies, & sauces. They offer a 15% uniform discount for police, firefighters, paramedics, & seniors (with ID). I know their ice cream is creamy & delicious, but the experience of waiting to get the wrong flavor wasn't the best. read more

10 out of 10 I would visit again! Went here for a nice afternoon treat with my husband and daughters. From the time you enter to the time you leave there was nothing but good service. We sat in the middle of the floor at an open table with other families all around us, but in view of the ice-cream station for the person who was making sundaes. Our waitress was kind, very attentive to our refills and making sure we were satisfied with our menu selections. I tried the cheesesteak sandwich- it made to excellent perfection. Coming out on a Dutch Crunch roll, I expected the bread to be a bit hard, but to my surprise it was very nice and soft. Easy to bite and chew. The meat and melted cheese were very delicious. Onion rings on the side were cooked just right and crispy. No one in our party was disappointed. The ice-cream at the end was just enough to top off the experience. I'll say when visiting here, the prices are kind of high for just a night out, but well worth it. Paid a little over $150 for a family of four. I'd recommend you try this spot. While driving back home we needed to charge our car and get a bite to eat. We were so happy to have stumbled upon Fentons located in the Nut Tree shopping center. We were able to park our car, leave it charging and cross the parking lot to Fentons. We were sat right away and were brought over a kids menu and high chair too. Once we were seated our server promptly brought us all waters and helped us navigate the very large menu! We went with some burgers and a sandwich , it was good ! The star of the show for us was the ice cream sundaes! So many to choose from. We settled on one with all the fixings and enjoyed all the fun flavors! On a recent visit we ordered a couple sandwiches before enjoying our ice cream. The BLT was good, just what you'd expect. The monte cristo however was delicious! Delicious ice cream! We got the banana nut flavor on a cone and my husband's words were "This may be my favorite banana nut ice cream I've ever had" and we've had many different ones. A California Classic That Lives Up to the Hype Some places have history. Some places have incredible food. And every once in a while, you find a place that has both. Fentons Creamery is one of those rare gems. Walking into a restaurant that's been serving families for well over 100 years is an experience all by itself. You can feel the history the moment you walk through the doors. It's nostalgic without feeling outdated, and it's clear why generations of families have continued coming back. The restaurant itself is huge, incredibly clean, and has such a fun atmosphere. One of my favorite features was the massive spinning display showcasing all of their incredible ice cream creations. It's impossible to look at it without feeling like a kid again, and trying to decide what to order becomes the hardest part of the visit. We started with lunch, and it did not disappoint. I ordered the Triple-Decker Chicken Club, and it was enormous. Every layer was fresh, flavorful, and stacked high with quality ingredients. We upgraded to the seasoned curly fries, and that may have been the best decision of the meal. They were perfectly seasoned, incredibly crispy, and served with what tasted like freshly made house ranch that was absolutely outstanding. Honestly, the food alone would have made this restaurant worth visiting. Then came dessert... We ordered the Monster Brownie Sundae, and "monster" is no exaggeration. It arrived at the table looking like something out of a movie--towering scoops of ice cream, rich hot fudge cascading down the sides, whipped cream piled high, chopped nuts, and the classic cherry on top. The real star, though, was their famous Dutch Chocolate Chip ice cream. Without exaggeration, this was some of the best ice cream I've ever had--not just in California, but anywhere. The texture was unbelievably creamy, the chocolate flavor was rich without being overpowering, and the chocolate chips added the perfect bite. It's easy to understand why Fentons has earned such an incredible reputation over the last century. What made the entire experience even better was the staff. Every member of the wait team we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed happy to be there. Great service can elevate a meal, and they absolutely did. Overall, this was one of those meals that reminds you why local institutions survive for generations. Amazing food, legendary ice cream, outstanding service, a fun family atmosphere, and memories made around the table. If you're anywhere near the area and love classic American diners or incredible homemade ice cream, Fentons Creamery belongs at the top of your list. Prices were a little steep, but it was definitely worth it because the portions were massive. We'll definitely be back and next time, we're saving even more room for dessert. read more

Came here with my family on a Saturday around lunchtime. As expected, it was busy, but we were seated right away. Our server was nice and attentive without being overly chatty, which we appreciated. We ordered appetizers and sandwiches, the food was good but nothing really stood out. The highlight was definitely the banana junior, we hadn't had it in a while, and it was still satisfying. We have been coming to Fentons for years, which made this experience especially disappointing. The hostess should not be working in a customer-facing role without proper training on how to interact respectfully and compassionately with children who have disabilities and their families. Our servers were great, but the hostess stood out for the wrong reasons. We came in 6/6/2026 for reference around 12pm. Our party of 10 was quoted a 30-minute wait, which we were happy to accept. After waiting, we checked in with the hostess only to be told that our table had been given away and our name had been removed from the list because she claimed she called us several times. No one in our group heard our name called. What was most frustrating was the lack of effort to help resolve the situation. The hostess was dismissive and seemed uninterested in finding a solution. This was particularly difficult because my 4-year-old niece has autism, and unexpected changes and long waits can be very challenging for her. A little patience, understanding, and compassion would have gone a long way. As longtime customers, we expected better communication and customer service. It is convenient to have this Fenton's near a Tesla Charging station. This place is big and clean. A restaurant like this is perfect for charging an EV. When charging you have about 30 minutes, so getting a scoop of ice cream, or ordering from their food menu is the perfect option. The food here is typical American style diner food but it's really good. We got the crab salad sandwich. The food and service was great. We had a lot of kids and the server gave them crayons and coloring paper to distract them, lol. The vibe is your typical diner. It was a decent size with a good amount of seating. My wife and I stopped in Sunday on our way home to Roseville. My wife got a nice big milkshake. I am diabetic. I asked the young man, "do you have sugar free ice cream?" He told me, "yes, vanilla and butter pecan". I looked at the menu again, because I didn't see any sugar free flavors on the menu board. So I mentioned there weren't any "Sugar Free" flavors on the menu board, and asked again about having "Sugar Free" flavors. He simply tells me yes, and what flavor would I like? So I got some vanilla. The ice cream tasted very good like the homemade ice cream we made at home as kid. I tested my blood sugar that night, and my blood sugar had shot up. Ugh! I was in the area with family and were craving ice cream so we decided to drop by Fenton's. Fenton's is a Bay Area staple when it comes to a Diner, good quality dessert desserts. My family came in around 2:30, and there was a table open, however it was quite busy for the afternoon on a Sunday. The service was good though. My family didn't eat yet so we split the patty melt which tasted good, I would say thought the fries are about as average as it gets. It's nothing special, I would honestly not recommend, I will probrally try the curly fries next time. The Fenton's Special however tasted amazing, this is basically a combinations of all the class flavors (Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, and Sherbet), and a bunch of their syrups). I'm typically not a sweet tooth type of guy, but this Sunday was delicious! I love how it wasn't too sweet as well. This Sunday can feed at least 3-4 people. I also don't like sherbet but this sherbet tasted amazing as well! Overall I had a good experience and would recommend this place for a dessert spot. The last time I tried Fentons Creamery ice cream was probably over 15 years ago in Berkeley, so I was really excited to find out they had another location here in Vacaville. I decided to grab a "single" size, which was essentially two scoops, priced at around $8.15 as of November 2025. I chose two flavors -- Biscoff and green tea. Overall, both ice creams tasted fine, but I found the texture a bit too thick and borderline gummy. It made me wonder if they might be using too much stabilizer. Anyway, regardless I wasn't a fan of the texture at all. In terms of flavor, the Biscoff was quite nice -- as the Biscoff flavor really came through. The green tea, however, was disappointing. I couldn't pick up any green tea notes at all; it just tasted like a bland vanilla to me. On the positive side, the staff member who helped me was very friendly, and the store itself looked great inside -- clean, bright, and welcoming. read more

08142025 Again, whenever the family and I are in the area - typically after Amici's - we go here for dessert - no fail! Our last visit was a weekday and so it was quiet (weekends are crazy!) and staff were really friendly. My go-to is just a chocolate chip sundae with fudge (of course) and it always hits the spot. I think I like this location is better than the one in Piedmont, it's less crazy and bigger as well. I came here with my husband and our baby at around 2 pm on a Saturday. We've been to the Oakland location a few times and didn't know there was one in Vacaville til we were in the area this day so we had to stop by as soon as we found out! We grabbed lunch nearby, walked around the Nut Tree Plaza where Fenton's is located, and then came by for a sundae. We were seated immediately, though we were asked to leave our stroller at the front which was okay for us but just something to keep in mind. The service overall was pretty friendly and efficient and we ordered the special at the time which was the S'mores sundae. The waitress asked whether we wanted the junior or regular size and we went with regular but it was massive! We definitely could have shared the junior instead! It was however, delicious. So bonus points for the yummy sundae at what we thought was a reasonable price (~$20), also for the coloring page and crayons they gave our baby. I just took a point off for the ambiance/cleanliness.
