Stopped by for lunch the other day. Went through the drive through. Service was quick and prompt. I ordered the new Big Dill burger. Burger was hot, made to order. Bun was fresh and toasted. The Big Dill has cheese, fried pickles and a tangy dill sauce. The combination is short of AMAZING! Fried pickles were crisp and hot, juicy on the inside. Dill sauce was not overpowering but noticed. I am truly blessed to live near this Sonic!! With 1/2 price drinks all day everyday on the app you cannot beat it!! The Coke Zero cherry vanilla route 44 calls my name quite often and these people deliver. The service and consistency are what keep me coming back!! I was super impressed when they renovated with an inside. It's the nicest Sonic I've ever been to. Due to staffing struggles they have had to close the drive-in spots several times I've ordered in the app and they make it easy to get through the line quickly and with order accuracy. Made a mobile order to pick up some lunch before going shopping. Arrived at 10:30 am and the parking lot was empty as was the store. Figured I was at the wrong location and this one was closed for remodeling due to the condition of the store. I was wrong. After waiting at the drive-through window for 10 minutes and other customers coming and going without ordering. A lady came out and informed me that no one had shown up for their shift and she was the only one there. Before I could ask anything she went back inside. Drove out to this location because we wanted to celebrate our kiddo's first day of school. We were met at the door of the indoor dining area by someone telling us that they were closing the inside and all of the parking bays, and that the only thing they were going to keep open was the drive thru. I kindly told the lady that we were going to find somewhere else to eat, to which she offered the chance to go through the drive-thru and then park the car to come eat on the patio. Still slightly perturbed, I told her how this doesn't make sense and was not the dining experience we were looking for. So for your sake, all of the car bays and indoor dining closes at 7:00pm. Our kiddo had specifically requested Sonic on this day and was crushed as we headed back to the car. So besides my better judgement I did end up in the drive thru. I actually placed a mobile order and still had our order arrive to the vehicle incorrect. Look, I totally understand that they are understaffed. But none of these changes were ever published online or on the door. Half of the car bays have a chain pulled across them or have an "out of order" sign plastered on the screen. It just was a miserable experience. It was clear that the team running the place was not going out of their way to make it any easier to enjoy the restaurant. As we sat in another parking lot watching car after car pull into bays and be turned away, as well as go up to the door only to be waved off by staff inside, I felt like I needed to pass on this review. It's Sonic so I'm not going to go into any great lengths about the food - it's quick, it's car-hop-based, and it's good for those not paranoid about cholesterol, salt intake, or any of the other health concerns plaguing the country at the moment. I will comment on this particular location, however, in terms of its service. This is one of my favorite Sonic locations to visit in the city, partly because it's close to home, but also b/c the customer service is typically top-notch (for a fast-food restaurant) and the car-hops are pretty friendly and never seem to have a bad day (or at least they spare the customer from attitudes regarding such). Service is quick and with a smile, as one would hope from every restaurant; and it shows b/c the place stays busy, even when the temperatures get high and low. And It's never borderline sketchy (I'm lookin' at you, Greensprings Hwy Sonic), and always seems like a good family-friendly place to be if you're looking for a refreshing drink or an easy bite. In a nutshell, that's it - it's a clean, friendly Sonic, prepped for its customers to come, get their fill and chill, and then head to their next destination. Went to this Sonic Drive-in location on Friday (2/12/21) and ordered a Chili Cheese Coney. This is definitely one of the better Sonic Drive-ins. You can tell it is really well managed compared to a lot of the others, which is why I didn't mind driving a few minutes extra to go here. Haven't had Sonic in a while but it still was just as I remembered. The hotdog was still as good as I remembered. All of the employees really seemed to be following Covid guidelines and every one was super nice. It's definitely worth driving a little extra to go to this location. read more

It is so sloooowww and service is so bad. First time, no one in the dining area and touch screen wasn't working. I have been to this location a couple times. Very convenient spot off of Highway 31 in Pelham. Easy to get in and out. Plenty of parking around the building and about a half dozen tables if you want to sit outside. Burgers, chicken, hot dogs and a variety of sides, fries, jalapeno poppers, mozzarella sticks, tator tots, etc. Food is typically ok. Nothing special that makes you crave going to sonic. Pricing is pretty reasonable. Purpose for the trip today was it happened to be after 8:00 and they are running the deal on shakes (half price after 8:00). Went ahead and ordered a large. To be clear you could share this with a small army. 32 oz shake for $2.50. Hard to beat that price and taste was pretty good! They also have a huge selection of other specialty drinks and they run specials on these from time to time as well. I have been to this location on two occasions and the drinks were horrible. I asked for a HiC fruit punch and they gave me a cup of syrup from the slushies with a little bit of water. Sent it back and they gave me red water. They told me that their machine was not working and they had to hand mix their juice (POWERade was out too). They could only do the drinks or lemonade (why didn't they just tell me that they were out of HiC and POWERade). So i got a sprite. And even the sprite was just carbonated water. Not only was my drinks messed up, but i ordered the chicken strip meal and they gave me chicken strips the size of my pinky and was slightly over cooked. I will not be coming back to this location. Sonic is Sonic. A car hop drive up. Well better than average fast food. Fairly diverse menu that includes a limited but good breakfast. And there are the drinks (cherry limeade is my usual) and expanded, for fast food, dessert choices. It's not perfect and your mileage will vary from location to location but the Pelham Sonic is consistently good, clean and has food service. Quick and polite.
