I have been three times in the last two weeks. I am originally from Tennessee where Sonics are everywhere and the service is fast and efficient. All three visits to this Sonic were terrible. They don't listen to your order. They get it wrong. To top it off they then tell you they don't have an ingredient to make your order after all the hassle of sending the wrong order back. This for a simple hot dog New York style. So I go again today with my daughter who is pregnant. She wanted a lemonade and I a diet limeade because I am diabetic. After a long, cold hiatus we were finally able to get to the Sonic in Frederick, MD. I ordered a Frito-Pie (a favorite) and a Chocolate Shake. My wife had a Cheeseburger and Slush. I had a bit of trouble ordering, but I think that was because of the breezes coming in from the North. Our food got to us in a very short time, and was brought to us by a young man named Liam. This kid had everything! And as he handed our food to us he let us know what was in what bag. He was very prepared, napkins, straws, spoons....everything was with him and handed to us. He was very personable, cheerful and he's a rocket on those blades! We'll be looking for him our next visit. read more

This location is still brand-new so this review may change in the future but my service tonight was excellent. We arrived a little bit after 5PM and was able to pull right into a stall. Our order was taken quickly and efficiently. Our food was delivered in an appropriate amount of time and at the right temperature. The order was also correct. The carhop was friendly. Don't do it. You are thinking about going, because it's new. Don't waste your time. We went and the line was wrapped around the place. Which would lead you to believe it was good. False. The food was cold and we got the wrong order. We orders the 4 piece French toast and we charged for and given 4 orders of French toast! By the time they refunded our card and corrected the error, the other food that we did order (burgers and fries that we cold to start with) was completely inedible. What I really didn't understand was how the food could be so cold when they were so busy? Like, wouldn't they have to make it fresh? OK so the local sonic has been open constantly for about a month now and I have to say that the place currently blows. The food (when its done right) is really good! Problem is that it isn't done right consistently. The last few times we have been there something has been wrong with our order. Usually its caused by the order taker not listening but sometimes the make table is at fault. Today's adventure begins like this. We pulled up and with out even touching anything a voice says "sorry about the wait how can I help you" and the vanishes. OK no big. I wasn't ready anyway. So we figured out what we wanted and pressed the button... And waited.... And waited... Pressed the button again and waited some more... Finally pressed it a third time and waited a bit longer.. THEN someone answered. Placed our order and made sure he had it right and then waited for delivery.... And waited... And waited some more.... Finally the food was delivered.. I asked for no lettuce on mine and of course it had some.. So since I was complaining to the manager (who looked like he had a tooth ache) I sent it back. Later after we got home we discovered that the hubbies burger was almost stone cold. WTH! This wasn't even the busy time.. It was 11 at night! This establishment obviously doesn't have enough adult supervision and too many teens mucking about instead of working. Now I'm not being a mudge here I've worked fast food. Checkers in fact.. We would have been horrified to have people wait forever for food. Management would have chewed us out for it too.. Granted this place has only been open a month but it seems to me that in that month they should be pretty solid in their procedures and customer service. I am appalled with this establishment in Frederick, MD. A homeless gentlemen order a burger, the burger came out incorrect. He asked to have the burger fixed to what he ordered, and they told him to "take it, or leave it". Unbelievable! I have spent many years admiring people that have Sonic's in close proximity to where they live. I've watched their nationally broadcasted commercials many times, but with no Sonic near by it was just a tease to me... The tease ended when I learned of a new sonic opening about a half an hour north from where I live... So I came, I did, and I must say that I was completely "underwhelmed" by the experience.. The smiley girl roller skating your food to your car is literally the only unique/cool thing about sonic. But as for the food..... Well... The food Sucks!!!! We ordered the Chicago style hot dog, tots, and nerds slushy drinks. The hotdog itself was small and rubbery, and they actually drizzled a seasoning on top of it which sort of reminded me of old bay. Sonic, what are you trying to cover up?! Seems like you don't want people to taste your low quality rubbery hot dog... As for the tots, they were okay, but you can buy a bag of tots from the grocery store and heat them up and get the same results (nothing special). And as for the nerds cherry slushy.... Not bad, but they forgot to include the nerds in my drink and I didn't want to bother waiting for the waitress to correct things. So in sum, it's possibly worth trying once for the old school "drive in" experience, but don't bother trying their main courses such as their dogs or burgers... Wish we had checked the reviews prior to going. My family was so excited to find a Sonics as we hadn't had it in a long long time since there is none ever near us. We waited over 15 minutes to even order during which time I had suggested we just leave but my husband insisted since we made the special trip for it. 1/2 hour after ordering the screen displayed our order was on its way. We watched other cars that had arrived after us get their orders so after about 10 more min of waiting we pressed the button to inquire about our order. They stated they were no longer taking orders and never responded to my husband as he had explained to them we never got our order. After waiting a few minutes assuming they were looking into it my husband pressed the button again and got the same message. After explaining again we never received our order they answered back they were backed up. At the hour mark my husband finally had enough and asked for a refund to which they said there was a way to do it but then never confirmed. I had gotten out of the car to tend to my son and could hear others were having the same issues. It's like they were picking and choosing who to take care of. Also the whole time the drive-thru was progressing while slow at a much faster rate than the cars in the bays. Glad we asked for a refund though because now having read to reviews I see that even after you get the food it's cold and not up to the usual Sonic standards. read more
