I wanted something else besides Arby's or McDees I should have looked at Yelp first.. Please do if your here. What a disappointment.. I ordered through the app I got their version of a mcchicken. Crinkle fries and 5050 drink... The food came out promptly and the service was good. Too bad they don't skate to your car anymore... Maybe for liability reasons .. My food was pitiful.. I wouldn't feed this to anyone... My sandwich was dry... Fries... lukewarm.. and the oil looks like it's hasn't been changed in weeks... 5050.. weak... I should have gone elsewhere... The Capitol Heights location is much better. read more

We stopped here during a trip back from WV. We were all hungry and about an hour away from home. We pulled into a spot and pushed the button for service. We waited, and waited, and waited. After 20 minutes someone else pulled in next to us. After 10 minutes the other car has their drinks. We push the button again to see what's going on. Someone pulls in to the drive through portion and get their food. At this point we gave up and left hungry. This location needs to get their stuff together. The one in Hagerstown is so much bette better. read more

I ordered simple meal: One order of the groovy fries and one chicken tender wrap and it took the restaurant over 25 minutes to make the order. I was picking up rather than using the mobile car-hop. The app directed me to go inside and let the employee know my name for the pickup, the store doesn't have an inside, and doors have stickers stating Employees Only. So I waited outside for an employee to come out to ask what I should do because I clearly cannot follow what the app wanted. When I told the employee I was checking in, they were so annoyed, stating they were trying to get orders out. I am not upset they are trying, the person is literally running orders to cars, but I am unsure why I when they spoke to me, I was annoying them. read more

The wait to be acknowledged was several minutes - at least 5. We placed our order and it took extraordinarily long to get. We were actually getting ready to leave without our food when an elderly woman missing many of her teeth showed up with our food. Then asked for a tip. Yikes! It took so long to get this far - 15 minutes - what good service were we tipping? The smash burger was very dry and seemed like it had been sitting under heat lamps for a while. The strawberry cheesecake shake tasted good but was more like extra chilled milk. It probably sat around while they overcooked the burger. The peanut butter Oreo shake was good. Alas, we will never come here again. read more

Love Sonic BUT disappointed Me today I'm a huge Sonic Fan but there's isn't one in my county. I was helping a friend move and she lives maybe 10 minutes away from Sonic. We pulled up to the Sonic Drive Thru and there's a big hand written sign that reads, NO Apple Pay. I inquired and apparently Sonic doesn't take any digital credit cards. Unfortunately, I only have my digital wallet on me today. I don't have cash on me because who carries that anymore?! Also, I was helping my friend move so I don't hand my purse on me. Basically, it boils down to, no Sonic for me tonight. I sincerely hope they update and upgrade their system to accept digital currency in the future. read more

I got severely sick after eating here on Monday. Tuesday I ended up in the hospital. DO NOT EAT HERE!

Ordered my food. My drink was an unsweetened tea. I noticed after I left the tea has a lot of crap floating in it. I call it spout funk. I imagine the container isn't cleaned properly. That made me wonder about the food quality after seeing that. I couldn't eat it. Disgusting. I am glad the cup is clear. read more

I swear the only time I go to this place is because of my five-year-old who loves the French toast. Nothing is convenient about this place. There's slow and still don't even accept google Apple Pay or any thing like that. there's nothing that keeps you wanting to come back. OK I take that back maybe the tater tot's. But at night time you can't even see that there's a sonic in the parking lot at the lights to the Walmart go out and sonic seems not to have any lights also. Many times you can't tell if this place is open or close because there's not much going on. back in the day I used to love going to sonic for a nice cold drinks and great snack food. gone are the days and it could just be this location, but this is the only one we have nearby in Frederick, and they have a lot of stepping up to do if they want to remain in business. read more

Food appears to look good, but it is actually awful, greasey, over cook and will give you diarrhea for several days. So the advertisement on TV in the pictures at the Sonic drive-thru is very deceiving. Is your best interest to never eat there. Like other fast foods these days the quality is not there like it was 30 years ago or even10 or 20 years ago. Even McDonald's and Burger King has gone downhill and the quality and the thickness of their burgers. For you and your family it's better to hold out and find a better place to go to or buy fresh meat and make your own burgers and hot dogs but make sure the meat is lean. read more

I always enjoyed the food I got at Sonic as it was hot and good. However, yesterday I stopped by and order a hot dog and fries and they were horrible. The hot dog was cold and crunchy and the fries were cold and not good. I will never visit Sonic again because if they are bad now they are just going to get worse. read more

I do not recommend this branch of Sonic. We were not happy of the food we ordered. It appears that they do not have a microwave? Please refer to the photos below. The grilled cheese is not toasted, the cheese are not melted , the tater tots are cold and the cheese is cold as well. The only thing good is the convenience of waiting in the car. read more

Something happened since the last time I reviewed this location. I ordered a cheeseburger through the app that clearly said hold the lettuce (always soggy, browned, wilted) and mayonnaise, but add mustard. Reading is fundamental, how hard can it be for someone with at least two years of high school? First, only the drive through was open, drive in stalls were blocked off. The burger I got was lukewarm with lettuce and smothered in ketchup. When I got the new burger the temperature wasn't much warmer, but at least they didn't add lettuce but it was still smothered in ketchup. I don't think I will come back to this location for half off Tuesday. read more

Pros; Convenient Location Friendly staff Cons; Long wait time Cold food I have always loved Sonic, today my wife and I stopped in this location and we both ordered The Sonic Burger with Chilli Tots. This was one of the worst lunch I have ever had. Both of our burgers were iced cold including our Tots. We couldn't send it back because we got it to go. I won't be back. read more

I decided to try this place even though I saw the bad reviews. They were mostly about it taking a long time and we were ordering ahead using the app. How bad could that be? Bad. We still waited 15 minutes for our food. The chicken tenders were stone cold. The iced tea was so syrupy it made McDonalds sweet tea taste unsweetened. The chicken sandwich was half unwrapped. I called and they said to come to the drive thru to get replacement tenders. We waited for another 10 min and didn't even get to the window so bailed on it. Stay away from this place! read more

I don't get out to Frederick County too often but when I do I always stop by Sonic to indulge in some in-car fast food. I noticed today they've added digital screens so you can verify your order before they bring it out to you. This is really helpful because a lot of times they have messed up my order. Today I ordered about 12 items and the entire order was correct. It was my first time ordering the fries as I usually get tater tots and boy did I make a mistake. The fries were cold and stale and tasted like they were made hours ago. Their signature item is the Sonic Blast which is consistently good and today was no different. Their menu advertised a new chicken sandwich that is back on the menu and after ordering it I now know why they took it off in the first place. It was dry and flavorless and just a very strange texture. I also got the foot-long chili dog which is always a good decision as well as the mozzarella sticks. The food came out fast and the attendant was very accommodating since I couldn't get the order paid for through the self-service board. It turns out despite the screen saying they accept American Express they actually do not. He had to take my MasterCard and run inside to complete the transaction. read more

Decided to stop by for dessert. Among the only customers at almost six pm, service was fast and friendly. Boyfriend got ice cream, I got a cherry limeade. I LOVE Sonic and have none nearby, we've intended to visit since they opened but only get to Frederick twice a year or so. We will definitely be back, maybe next time for food :) read more

This was my first time visiting Sonic as I'd heard a lot about it but we don't have one super close to one in our area. So my girlfriend and I decided to check it out as she'd been before but it was my first time. She loves the warm pretzel twists they have and I am also a fan now. We also got Burger meal combos with tater tots and Sonic blasts. I got a footlong coney hot dog as well. The service was good as our food didn't take long once we place the order. This is a very casual place that offers a wide variety of menu items for decent prices. If you're looking for just standard American menu items this place might be up your alley. This is in line with other fast food places so you have to set your expectations as such. All in all not a bad visit but I don't think it's worth going out of your way for. This is literally an "if you're in the area type of place stop by" but we live like 25 minutes away. Still glad I came to try it though! read more

I came here today and the service was amazing. Asella made me a sonic blast and it was the best sonic blast I've ever had at a sonic! 10/10. My quick drive through meal hit the spot! We were in Frederick doing some groceries on a Saturday evening and I craved for some hotdog and tots. We drove through in the rain and they were pretty quick and efficient. I had the chili cheesedog footlong with tots and a soda and my husband had the jumbo chicken strips. The tots were so fresh and crispy. The hotdog was delicious! My husband enjoyed his chicken as well. It was a good meal! read more

Just like any other Sonic locations, this place offers burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, breakfast items, combos, kids meals, and shakes/limeades/slushes. I picked up my usual, the Cherry Limeade, that was filled with crushed ice, and it was fizzy and refreshing. The staff were friendly and were patient, and the drive-thru moved along. Getting in is a little tricky, as there isn't a direct access to the location, but you have to cut through the Wal-mart parking lot. +Cherry Limeade read more

SO SLOW. waited over 20 minutes for one car to get their order. when I had an online. terrible service. This place needs serious help.

WORST SONIC EVER!!!! NOTHING WAS RIGHT WITH MY ORDER Took 20 min to get with only 2 other cars present. Ordered sweet tea. Got unsweet tea. Ordered ultimate cheesesteak. Got cheesesteak on hot dog buns with no tater tots. Ordered chicken slinger. Got a piece of chicken that was harder than a rock and looked like it had been cooking since last week. Chocolate milkshake was vanilla on the bottom. Zero napkins. No receipt. This location SUCKS and needs an overhaul. read more

Food is actually GREAT for it being a Sonic. I ordered chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks. I honestly have never had better chicken tenders from a fast food place (or whatever category this chain lands in). The wait here is SOOOOOOOO long, I think I waited for over 30 minutes for my food. Cars that arrived in the carhops after I had order my food, got their full order and drove away before I decided to go to the window and ask. (am not very familiar with sonic's practices, so legitimately don't know how long this wait was supposed to be). Went to the window and the waitress said the mozzarella sticks were to blame, but they were pretty solid inside, not gooey like "fresh" mozzarella sticks. So I'm not sure about that. But why would they lie? Also they forgot my sauces, which is fine, since I was eating in the car. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK FOR SAUCES!! Food is good, make sure you aren't super hungry though! Be prepared to wait. read more

40+ minutes int he drive through. Total number of cars upon arrival, five. Don't know whats going on at this Sonic? Maybe they were training drive through staff. They really need to take a page out of Chik-Fil-A drive through. Felt really bad for the people just ordering drinks. Imagine waiting over 20 minutes for a Sonic drink in this heat? Waiting this long does three things, makes the food not worth it, re-think ever visiting Sonic again, crossing this location off. Visit at your own waste of time. read more

Worst. F'n. Sonic. Ever. Over an hour to get cold food and then the order wasn't even right! And then when we try to talk to someone the manager comes out with an attitude and seems to forget she's the manager. I get it - you're overwhelmed but get in there and help your employees. Don't make them do your dirty work because you just want to have the manager title. Yelling "Stack the tickets" isn't going to help your employees get food out. Waiting for 45 minutes to acknowledge you're out of a product? You could've gotten on the speaker and told us. But no. Don't worry - you'll be happy to know I'm never coming back til that manager is fired and I promise to tell everyone I know. read more

First and last time! It's been a while since I wanted to try it out. There isn't any Sonic drive-in where I live and the closest is 22 miles away. That absence made it more enticing (perhaps). What a disappointment. I have never tasted food so bland. Even the food at McDonalds tastes better, and that is a very low bar. The worst are the fries. The hot dogs were bad, as well as the burgers. Only the boneless chicken wings were OK, but not that special either. They also left a few items off the order. The staff at this location are very inattentive. Never again. One off the bucket list. Anyone there is no Sonic anywhere close by where I live. read more

Ordered grilled cheese sandwich. Cheese put between warm, not hot bread. Both pieces of cheese still cold. Tater tots barely warm.

I visit this Sonic about every two weeks as it's my son's favorite food. My order is always the same: Medium #2, plain, no cheese, fries and a coke. I would estimate they get this order wrong 95% of the time. I used to order it with ketchup but felt it just confused things so simplified my order. I sometimes even say: "It is literally two patties of meat and a bun." They still insist on adding cheese. Once, I got it with no cheese but one patty. That was novel. I once asked a manager how I could make it clearer and he had no answers for me. I generally am good humored about this but it's starting to wear on me. Not ONCE have I been issued any kind of sincere apology or coupon or freebie of any kind, although I'd just prefer they get the order correct. I have now stopped leaving the line until I check the burger and as said above, 95% of the time have to knock on the window and ask for no cheese. They are always surprised! It happened again today and despite me saying "No cheese. Listen carefully. Meat and bun." the worker repeated "no cheese?" when I had said as much as I handed him the burger. I wish they would LISTEN to the orders or maybe find a way to put a HAMBURGER option on the menu. I think they get confused when they see "cheeseburger, no cheese" on the ticket. read more

This is definitely a 1 or 2 star place. Stopped here as traveling through for vacation. I like sonic for its drive in style ordering and paying at your kiosk. But this location is awful. It's gotten to the point that I'm just not coming back. After many and I mean many times of incorrect orders today takes it. After waiting over 30 mins I inquire about my order. Told they're backed up it is running slow. I start to realize people who ordered way after me getting their orders. So I inquire again and am given the same run around. This time I ask for a manger as how is it running slow yet people who ordered more than 30 minuets after me are getting their orders. Well they never made my order someone must have cleared it as made even though I already paid. By the time we did get our food we are more than an hour of waiting. HERES THE KICKER. This is the second time this happened to me now. Where they just never made my food then give me a run around. Reading other reviews it seems others have had the same issue. Another thing of note is that again I see reviews pointing out which I'm kinda glad seeing it wasn't just me who felt this. Some of these younger girls that are running the food have an attitude/ borderline racist quality to them. It's a drive in so you can see the interactions with other cars. Let me say I answer with hi/thank you so much and am given this snotty attitude of take your food and f- off vibe and left feeling like what did I do? Then you see the same girl goto a car that matches her skin tone and it's the service I'd expect. Truthfully just be like me. I'm over it. I like their drinks but the hassle and treatment just made me not want to come back anymore. Eventually they'll close and maybe we can get something better there. read more
