Great food served by the nicest people in the world! To be honest, when I first saw this place, I wasn't sure if I wanted to go in. It looked like a subpar Panda Express located in a mall, but I'm so glad that I walked in. This place has heart! They offered us samples (they were not stingy) and said we could try everything if we wanted. I fell in love with their crispy lemon shoyu chicken. It was extra crispy and dunked in their special sauce before serving. Delicious!! The lady scooped me extra saying that she'll give me enough to share with my husband. That was so nice!! The people here are so attentive and caring. When we were finishing up, they asked if we wanted a bag for our leftovers. We didn't even have to ask. Service here is above and beyond! My wife and I have been going to Kauai for many years now and have eaten at Sone's a number of times over the last few years. On this most recent visit we found the food barely warm and did not taste as good as it used to. I ordered the 3-choice combo for the listed price of about $9.40. I did not notice until after I finished eating that the price charged on my receipt was for $13.40. I went up to the cashier and asked why the price was so much higher than the price on the menu board. The lady told me the 3 items I chose were "special items" and that those are $1.10 higher each. I had chosen the meatloaf, tempura and roasted pork. None of the items on display in the cafeteria style counter were labeled to identify what each item is, let alone state whether or not they are a "special item". I told the cashier there was nothing that pointed out what is a "special item" and what is not. She just shrugged her shoulders and offered nothing to resolve my concern, such as a refund, credit or other food item. My wife and I decided not to return to the location. Just as well, the meatloaf was undercooked, the pork was tough and was mostly pieces with tendons and the tempura was nothing but over-battered small pieces of shrimp and veggies. read more

The owner is super nice and gave us samples of a few things to try. If you're looking for comfort food, this is the place to go. Their fried chicken dipped in whatever sauce they have is awesome, and we also had their eggplant and okra as well as their roasted pork. Service is good. I think the food is junk. Had roast pork and gravy. Pork tasted like it was previously frozen. The portions were cut small and was poured over a bed of cabbage. So the potions look big but you only get like 6 small pieces. I had fish with butter caper. The fish smelled like it was one day old. Like dead fish.
