Had the French Dip sans horseradish. The bread was good, and there was a decent amount of meat. The au jus was steaming hot and I liked the fact it wasn't horrendously salty the way most are. One person had the TOPSS sandwich. It was very fresh but taste-wise she found it average. As many others have mentioned, don't come here if you're in a hurry. They gave us buzzers to notify us when our order was ready but yelled out the names of others. One person in my party went back and got a cup of soup - and still had to wait. No one was in line behind her; why not ladle out the soup right then and there, and give her the piece of bread? (I think it's because they heat the bread a bit.) The counter, inexplicably, is really high. There's a plank step to stand on. Being short, I could barely see the credit card machine. Having a mobility disability meant it wasn't safe/feasible for me to step up on that plank. read more

The deli has always been a favorite of mine while living there. Nowadays, I try to get there as often as possible. We went in on a Friday and it wasn't busy at all which I found odd. We ordered our food and sat down at one of the tables inside. There was more seating outside if you'd like fresh air. I ordered the Club and my husband got the Topps (because I ordered him the wrong sandwich) and we shared a clam chowder. We both enjoyed our sandwich and the soup was delicious. Only bad thing I'll say is that the bread that came with soup was old and not fresh. Other than that, we still love this place and can't wait to go back! read more

This place was pretty bad... customer service was so horrendous here and the food wasn't even that good. When we walked in there was only two people there. We then ordered a pastrami sandwich and a French dip sandwich. Then there were three other locals or islanders that ordered after us and two of the groups ordered sandwich's as well. It then took 45 minutes to get our food. All the locals were served before us and all ordered after us. We also asked 30 minutes in to see where our food was at for the past 30 minutes because we only wanted to stop in there for a couple minutes and they said they where waiting on the pastrami sandwich which took 15 minutes to make. It should not take 45 minutes to make two sandwiches. The last time we were here it also took 45 minutes for a couple of sandwiches two years ago. During this I overheard the lady that served us talking to another customer on the phone and she asked if they were an Islander. Also the food wasn't that good as well the French dip didn't have a lot of meat but it was ok. The pastrami sandwich however was pretty bad; the bread was stale and there wasn't that much meat. After this we literally went to Costco because the pastrami sandwich wasn't very good and got food there for 6 times cheaper and it was better than the sandwich's that we got. Overall I would not recommend eating here due to the lack of customer service and the food. We used to come all the time 15 years ago and the place has degraded over time. read more

I arrived at Deli Connection a half hour before closing on a Thursday night I ordered a ruben sandwich with sauce on the side. There was no one eating in the restaurant. I waited 25 minutes for my $16 sandwich. When my sandwich was finally ready I was so disappointed. My beef is that I noticed that I was charged $2.50 for potato salad vs the $2.25 listed on their wall-sized menu board. Deli and Bread was THE spot growing up on Kauai. There's nothing like getting a bowl of clam chowder on a rainy day or even just their LOBSTER ROLL! Now the thing is, I've been going here long enough to watch their lobster roll go from $8 to now $15! Inflation is real... Anyways, deli and bread is a cute little spot that gives you a diner/deli meat place feel and you can sit inside or outside or even take it to go. The workers tend to be high school students or there's the same blonde lady there since I was a high schooler myself still working there so it's nice to see familiar faces keeping the show going! You can order different sandwiches, cold or warm, but for me I've only tried their lobster rolls or grilled cheeses and their CLAM CHOWDER! Moving from Kauai to Oahu, I have yet to find a clam chowder spot that isn't Safeway... Now the thing with their lobster roll is that it's not your bun + lobster pieces + sauce + shredded cabbage kind of roll. I grew up thinking a lobster roll would have imitation crab, cheese, and a bunch of other melted warmy goodness inside. Because on Kauai..that's what THE lobster roll is! And honestly it's a warm melted crunchy breaded goodness to definitely try. I have yet to try anywhere else that's ever done a lobster roll like it. Amazing sandwiches and amazing bread. Must come here. We loved the lobster roll and the tunacado. Also loved the clam chowder in the sourdough bowl - definitely the best sourdough I have ever had. Really bad. They did say "would you mind waiting 15 minutes?" Sure if it was actually 15 minutes, It was 45! Maybe too many variables on the menu, which appeared fantastic ,,,which is a good thing BUT not at the expense of a what most want a grab and go sandwich shop.
