Eh, I'd probably not go back. Only went here because many of our other choices in the area was closed on a Tuesday. My mom suggested and is a frequent diner. This review is strictly for the loco moco. My daughter is a lover of it and it just has many seasonings that did not agree with our taste buds. The Mac salad was delicious though. My other daughter loved the spam musubi until the end and she got hard rice. Lol! My moms burger looked delicious and her fries were yummy. Her bf got the bbq chicken which also looked delicious and I wish I tried. I just nibbled off of everyone's plate. We called in an order and food was ready when we got there. It was quite oily and a bit salty. The beef was a bit lacking. Eggplant plate - comes with 2 scoops of rice (brown rice), mac salad, and a huge portion of eggplant. Eggplant and tofu were really soupy looking. Tasted alright. One thing that was really disgusting here is that when we took out the chopsticks they gave us..we noticed it was used. Went to this place the other day and was presented with a menu. We went there today and when the balance was due it was almost $30. It should have been closer to $20. All the prices were wrong. Don't even think any prices on the walls are current. The server was very nice however but she could have told us of the price increase when we ordered. I ordered chicken chow mein but it came as chicken lo mein. It was ok. Not a lot of chicken. My partner ordered the pork with snow peas. Pork was tough and rubbery. Portions were ample but we left feeling ripped off cuz of the price change. We saw mixed reviews for this and thought we'd give it a chance. Guess we'll look for a better place that lists correct pricing and has better quality food without any language barriers read more

I do not recommend. Though dinner was a good value, the combination plate was tasteless and Luke warm. Also, the toilet was dirty. Super No 1 has potential by correcting these concerns. Craving some rice, but wanting something a little cheaper than the $25 pineapple fried rice at Lava Lava, I decided to try this place. I intended to get take-out but when I saw that their only containers were made from Styrofoam, I opted to eat in. The veggie fried rice ($7.50) was a huge portion, and the veggies (cabbage, broccoli, peas) looked quite fresh. But there was no caramelization of the rice at all - it seemed more like boiled rice mixed with some fat, rather than rice that was actually fried. They were getting through a lot of orders (phone, walk-in) so it seemed that they didn't allow much time to cook each dish. As I ate more rice I noticed that the layer of oil left on the plate was semi-solid - more like grease than oil - and I started to feel queasy (and I don't get queasy easily). I had to stop half-way through. Also, I knew the place wasn't going to be fancy, but sitting there at the utilitarian table under fluorescent lights facing a fridge full of Pepsi and Gatorade, while the owner walked around spraying the tables and chairs with some kind of detergent (including the chairs at my table) amounted to a pretty depressing experience. The worst thing of all though was seeing that huge stack of Styrofoam containers being loaded up and packed into plastic bags and carried out onto this beautiful island. For social and environmental responsibility, I'm giving them 1/5 "green stars." It's really a travesty for them to be using Styrofoam boxes for their meals. It's non-recyclable, non-biodegradable, and being so lightweight it's perfect for polluting the ocean and parks here. Other places have banned it completely, and Hawaii of all places (with the huge marine plastic problem) it should not be using it. To top it all, they pack this Styrofoam into plastic bags. Even eating in the restaurant, I found that I was contributing to the plastic pollution problem - both my fork and the containers for spring roll sauce were made of plastic. These are all issues that the restaurant could easily fix: improve the décor; use healthy oil for cooking and reduce the greasiness of the food; replace the Styrofoam with biodegradable cardboard boxes; replace the plastic bags with paper, use metal utensils and dishes for dipping sauce. After that there would still be issues to look at - use of local ingredients, selection of drinks, etc. In the meantime, I would not recommend coming here. read more

Besides the hot food line, there is a nice selection of cold sides. There is an ice cream freezer and I expect it will be operational soon. It is indeed a "low end" Chinese place. Emphasis on the "low" part. I got the combination BBQ plate and while the chicken was just OK, the beef was the absolute worst piece of shoe leather disguised as meat I have ever had. Tough, overcooked and full of fat. You had to look very hard at the short rib strip to even find the stringy meat between the bones. The only flavor in both the beef & chicken was a mild teriyaki with the only difference between the two being the texture. The rice was the typical white sticky rice which is almost impossible to screw up unless you burn it. Sad to say, it was the rather tasty mac salad that was the best part of the meal. My SO had the eggfooyung with orange chicken and fried rice. Her only comment was that while the orange chicken was orange in color, it tasted only of sugar and vinegar, without any hint of orange flavor. Yes, this place is inexpensive, and you get a lot of volume, but unfortunately very little in the way of flavor. After reading the other reviews where people said the food was great, all I can say is that it hope that someday you have the opportunity to have some truly great Chinese so you can see what you have been missing. We stopped in here after discovering that most of the restaurants nearby in Kapa'a are closed on Mondays and I was hangry. The food is cheap, but not especially well-prepared. I ordered the orange chicken (soggy), chow mein (ok), and a spring roll (also soggy). My husband had some short ribs, a pork dish, and fried rice. I have never seen him leave a plate with pork or rice on it at the end of the meal and there was lots leftover. Also, it would be nice to have signs labeling the various food choices. Surprisingly not bad. This honestly appears to be a very low-end Chinese BBQ spot, but turned out to be a couple steps above that. Atmosphere is utilitarian and cafeteria-like. Service was spotty, as the order-taker behind the counter spoke very little English. However, with the display of the order board and the accompanying food counter which housed the day's specials, in-depth communication was not necessary. We pointed to what we wanted...the BBQ chicken and garlic shrimp combo. It was pretty good. No fountain bevs, only individual cans/bottles in the cooler, just like most other places on the island. This chain appears intermittently around the island, and this location seems to be just like the others. Try it - it's reasonably priced, particularly for the amount of food you get.
