Not sure what's been going on with me but I've recently been craving all the things I used to eat when I was younger. Things like plate lunches from Zippy's and the other day, Panda Express. On the way from Lihue Airport to the north shore, we stopped to get some groceries and in the same strip mall was a Panda Express. I knew Joe had never eaten at one so why not get my orange chicken fix? I got two 2 item plates, one with chow fun, orange chicken and Beijing beef, and one with fried rice, orange chicken and honey sesame chicken. We divided up the plates so we could both have a bit of everything. I've always liked the orange chicken so that was good. The honey chicken and beijing beef were ok with the beef slightly on the dry side but flavorful. Both starches were exactly as I'd remembered, tasty and satisfying. Joe enjoyed the meal too so that was a relief since I'd talked up the orange chicken many times. Was it a stellar meal?...not really. Did it quench my itch for Panda?...absolutely! I'd never eaten Panda Express before. I've seen them around for years...various shoppping centers and even malls. And I'd heard people talk about them and especially the famous orange chicken. But I just never seemed to be near one when that particular craving struck and / or I normally avoid chains. Yesterday I picked up Mark Y at Lihue airport. On our way to The North Shore I had to pull off the road and take a work meeting. Mark understandably preferred to walk the strip mall I'd parked at than hear blah, blah, blah from Zoom talking heads. 30 minutes later Mark returns to the car with 2 "to go" boxes. Yep. PANDA EXPRESS ambush. Mark selected a variety of things knowing we would share plates. Fried rice and chow mein noodles were the starches. Orange chicken on both plates...and Beijing beef and honey sesame chicken. The car smelled amazing and I couldn't wait to eat. I liked everything...the orange chicken is pretty damn great. I probably wouldn't have picked the beef but I'm glad Mark did because it was really yummy. And of course there were fortune cookies! Yay! read more

Had a great lunch here. Food was fresh and tasted great, and the staff were super friendly. Very clean restaurant, there are no bathrooms.

My first Panda Express meal. A write of passage for Americans. It's pretty much what I expected. Crappy Chinese fast food of moderate quality. We both got orange chicken. Looks like a lot of Costco on the menu? Why pay soo much for frozen Costco? Is anything homemade on the menu???

We were in a hurry. We chose Panda Express thinking that we'd be in and out since everything is already prepared. Unfortunately, Panda Express was in no hurry to get us on our way. We had two orders. Both were for the three entree plate. The first order was served up in an expected amount of time but the second order had to be changed several times as the entrees that were ordered weren't available and wouldn't be ready for approximately 7 - 10 minutes. They didn't even have noodles (chow mein). After waiting in line for almost 10 minutes, I really didn't have the time to wait. This was smack in the middle of the lunch hour and while there was a steady stream of customers, it definitely wasn't slammed. While it wasn't my choice of entrees, I just ordered what was available on the line and got on my way. What we did have was very good and the portion sizes were quite large. We each split the plate with our respective spouses and neither of us could finish. With so many other options in Kapa'a, I would have probably been better off ordering something online and just picking it up. read more

We also ordered 12 of the ragoons and over 1/2 of them we're not sealed properly in the peeling process and had No cream cheese inside....... It's not about the food. First it was very loud inside. Loud music, loud exahaust Fans. Then the girl behind the counter Had bad English. As I tried to order the Other worker girl starts up a conversation not English with The one I'm trying to Order with. So they just start having this big conversation and she can't multitask So I am standing there waiting while they go on and in. Finally I said "Can you take my order" and she started to and then here comes the same girl again and started up a long conversation again. Not in English. There were no other customers there. We had a company meeting, so we ordered the party platter pkg 110.00, 2 sides and 2 entrees we also ordered the special ribs for 58.00 more. This pkg was supposed to feed 12-15 people. Well, we think it could have fed 20!! Very generous portions. I'm trying to upload two pictures, but having trouble attaching to this review. I have probably eaten PE a lot...and in a lot of different states. Almost always, dependable and tasty food like it was here.

We typically avoid chain restaurants on vacation bc prices are inflated and service is poor. But, this Panda was not that way. Everyone in the place was super friendly. They got our group of 8 through the line fast. Our order was accurate and the food was great. Place was clean and comfortable. We had a great experience. And where else in Hawaii can you feed a family of 8 for $101?!?! Good deal!! read more

When the local restauranteurs can't "cut it" falling back on the national chains is a good option here. I'd rather go to a locally owned and conceived restaurant but when there are so few that provide clean environments and well-managed operations there is little choice. The only reason Panda gets 4 stars is because the local competition is terrible. read more

My first time being here. It was quit an experience. My sister and her family always goes to panda's in Oahu and I tend to turn them down when I'm there. I had the Shanghai Angus Steak with brown rice and my husband had Orange chicken with bacon, chowmein noodles, Shanghai angus steak, and mushroom chicken. my family's favorite, fast and delicious food. workers are always smiling and always offer a fresh food.

I hate to give any restaurant only one star, but this one almost forces me to do it. The one redeeming factor was that the service was quick and (mostly) friendly. I ended up leaving with half the food I ordered and discovered that I'd received the wrong food when I left. One of the servers gave me some shrimp to try (it was quite good), so I ordered some, but none of it ended up in my take-out container. My wife and I shared what I brought back anyway and we both ended up feeling pretty ill afterwards. Not all Panda Express locations may be like this one but I can say for sure that it will take something pretty substantial to get me into one of these places again. read more

Occasionally I go to Panda Express for a snack even though I know they are a rip off. I got this Panda Bowl a couple of days ago. What a rip off it is...paying $10 for this measly amount. Apparently they charge $1.50 more if you get something with shrimp in it. Which was the Honey Walnut Shrimp. And they added some kind of donation to your charge even though you say no thanks. if you are flying out from lihue airport you don't have much options for the food :). This place is the only place which give you good options with decent airport price. We took the chicken burger, hummus sandwitch and capers island sandwich, the portions are good as per the price and so is the taste. There were no other option for the food so can't compare with any other airport food place :). I will recommend if you are picky on food get something before you clear the security or enjoy the food here in this bar :). Just your run of the mill Panda Express. Nothing different, nothing special, standard two item combos. Good meal when you're in a bind without any food to find. To the poster who stated their employees are not highly motivated - what do you expect? It's Kauai, they're on Hawaiian time. I would recommend not going here not because the food or service is bad - the food like all Panda Expresses is good, the service is fast and the place is clean...but why would you eat here when you're in Kauai? Used to love this Panda. Whoever owns this place is driving into the ground. Their portions have gotten smaller over the past couple of years and now everything is "made to order". This is NOT what one expects when they go to Panda. We walked in yesterday at 2:30 and all but two trays were completely empty. I had this same experience a few weeks ago but forgot about it. I walked out then also. This Panda has forever lost my business and I will tell anyone who will listen to steer clear of the Kapaa Panda Express. The owner is blowing it big time and i'm sure if corporate knew how their operating they would be less than pleased also as this doesn't align with their business model. If you need a "Panda Fix" I suggest driving to the new one in Lihue, their portions are huge and service and food is great!! read more

Our favorite place to eat, when staying in Kauai. It's really good food that will cost about $9 a person. Compare that to anywhere else. You just can't get a better deal. You will go broke if you try to by all your food at Safeway and Foodland. read more
