edamame dumplings

Had the Filet with riostto. It was good. Probably wouldn't order it again but loved the blue cheese risotto. I prefer the chicken marsala better. We saw our tables after we ate but we didn't get bread. Would have loved to have some. Service was much better the last time we went here. We felt rush and they didn't go over the specials us. Makes me wonder if they had the social instructions. We noted a severe food allergy and requested a certain server but they didn't say anything about either.

Carbonara with scallops and shrimp add

So good! I feel that I'm pretty hard to impress with food but I was very happy with my dinner. I had the carbonara with the scallop and shrimp add on and it was 10/10! We went on a Friday @5:00 and food was out in 15 min! Service was great and the ambiance was fantastic! I'll be back next time we are back in Ormond beach!

New-ish happy hour menu Short rib Arancini were good but the rice was a little too mushed up Salmon crostini was a hit

This place is so great and so consistent!! The new happy hour menu is very welcome. I'd like a few more flatbread choices, or a build your own. I wish I had gotten the lobster bisque again. Seriously, come here! The food, service, ambiance are all great.

The food and ambiance were excellent! Our waitress left a lot to be desired, but other than that we had no complaints. We had the Korean ribs appetizer, meatloaf Marsala, and the fish special (sea bass) and finished with the caramel crème brûlée. We will definitely be back!

Happy hour menu

This was the first time here and decided to stop by because of the good Yelp reviews. The food and service was very good. We were there during happy hour and ordered the smoked tuna crostinis which were excellent. I got the Caesar salad with the dressing on the side which I was glad I did because it had a strong fishy anchovy taste. The lettuce was crisp with shaved Parmesan cheese that I enjoyed. I also got the Alexander/margarita flatbread which was very good. My husband had the smash burger which he thought was good but not excellent due to the pickled onions that were on the burger ( he's a plain white onion caramelized kind of person). It had a very nice bar, covered outside patio area, nice inside area with a private sitting area if you had a large group/party. I will definitely be back. The shrimp and scallop carbonara looked great and will try that next time.

This was one of the BEST dinning experiences we have had in 2023. The restaurant and bar was busy and vibrant; definitely a Local Gem. Service was IMPECCABLE, from the Hostess seating us to the DELIGHTFUL Joely's "Friends for Life" interactions with us throughout dinner. We also had a great interaction with Nick, the Operating Partner. The food was EXCEPTIONAL, each dish had an excellent presentation and superbly-balanced flavor profiles. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND SoNapa Grille!!!!!!!

I've dined at SoNapa a few times and have yet to be disappointed. It's clean, the atmosphere is perfect for a date night, and there are always interesting seasonal options on the menu. The drinks have been fantastic of the ones that I've tried. When I have had a long week and want to treat myself to a nice meal, SoNapa is a solid choice.

Had a drink and appetizer at SoNapa, in Ormond Beach, tonight. Molly was the bartender, tonight. we ate, at the bar. She provided excellent service, she was personal and accommodating. I had martini and a house salad, both were excellent. I ordered the lollipop lamb chops, off the appetizer menu. The first ones that came out, were a little undercooked. So Molly wished them away, and the manager came out, and assured me, they would bring me, another order. Joe, the expeditor brought me, another ordered, that was excellent! They were grilled to perfection. Tender and juicy. Another excellent meal, at SoNapa.

All around great date venue!

Consistently a great experience. The service is exceptional, the bar makes excellent martinis in addition to the wine choices. And the food- the risotto is my favorite anywhere!

Very casual environment. I love the photo area and industrial feel. They offer a wide selection of beers and cocktails. There's a BBQ roaster they collaborate with, so be sure to get the barbecue. There were a lot of items on the menu I'd like to try next time. My friend and I shared the loaded tater tots and BBQ flatbread. Both were Delicious! There's a small parking lot. It's a nice place for meeting locals and lowkey lunch with friends or date.

Bennett VA nursing home Christmas party - love that this place does a lot of fundraising for local organizations. Atmosphere is great - outdoor - seating, with stages for music, and a fire pit; indoor - TVs, lots of games, and friendly efficient bar service. Great selection of beers for hubs - his favorite is The Dude (a White Russian milk stout) - I don't drink beer but had a sip and kinda liked it! I loved that they had lots of beverage choices for non-beer drinkers too - I enjoyed a raspberry seltzer and a glass of Cabernet (which was quite good!). The food on the menu looks good (they even won the 2025 Ormond burger competition!) but we enjoyed the smoked brisket and chicken platters from "Cookin Wid Kunchi" - soooo good and the mac n cheese was SMOKED ). We look forward to returning!

Everyone just seems so happy here so you can tell that it really enjoy their jobs which makes a huge difference. We started off with the coconut shrimp and had like this coconut mayo dipping sauce was different, but it was really good, but I felt like it needed like a sweet-and-sour sauce then I had the mahi tacos with just the rice no black beans definitely still as good as the last time I tried it my boyfriend got the buffalo chicken pizza gluten-free and he ate the entire thing so that just tells you right off the bat that it was good and to finish off our dinners we ended with Keylime pie. It wasn't the best it was OK. I don't think I would have it again, though the ambience, excellent this place is adorable. It's like a diamond in the rough. No one really knows it's here but anytime ever and someone says they're going to Daytona. I always recommend this place. Go here! You will never be disappointed trust me!

Having been to the grind over the years, we have certain expectations as to the quality of food and…read moreservice. I want to preface this by saying we went on a very cold day and ate indoors..the pizza was outstanding and the waiter was friendly and engaging..in other words, typical for our experiences there. Prior to this, we even brought friends who hadn't been there before and loved it...now, to our recent experience: We were seated and the waitress seemed as though she wasn't very familiar with the menu and had to check on our requests, each check took a disturbingly long time. When we brought our friends, my gal ordered a hamburger and I asked the waitress if she could have the wagyu, rather than the angus burger, she readily said yes and my gal marveled over the burger...fast forward to the last experience, the waitress said she'd have to order the wagyu as posted and it "wasn't available" as a stand alone order. So my gal settled for the angus burger and again, the wait was a bit long and as we were considering to leave, the waitress showed up, gave us our food and left. the onion rings were cold...literally...they had been out so long that they weren't even warm (our prior experiences the onion rings arrived hot and delicious). Again we waited for our waitress to return and my gal had to ask another waitress if she could get us some hot onion rings. That waitress noted the cold onion rings and brought them back to the kitchen to prove we weren't being unreasonable, which was a greatly appreciated gesture on her part. Very promptly, the "other" waitress brought our onion rings, apologizing profusely...we thanked her and when my gal started into her Caesar salad, it was inedible....soggy, nearly tasteless and resembling a hot spinach salad with soggy lettuce than a crisp Caesar salad....the upside, the second batch of onion rings were up to their usual excellent standard, the burger was good, but not the intensity of flavor their wagyu burger had. If we hadn't been semi-regulars, it is a near certainty we wouldn't go back, but we aren't going to let a single experience unravel years of good experiences.

Frank's Place - Pool table and stage in the far corner.

Frank's Place

Unfortunately, during the pool tournaments here on Tuesday and Friday nights, this place hosts a…read morecabal of witches who run the tournaments. So I'm a local here in Ormond by the Sea. I belong to a group of about 600 journalists across the country who participate in a blog about their experiences. Here is the recent post I sent my journalist friends about my experience at Frank's, and then Hanky Panky's, and the responses I got from fellow journalists: DANA WILKIE writes: How to Get Kicked Out of a Pool Hall So, for years I've been shooting pool recreationally. Typically, that required having a pool table in my home, which I sometimes did, or frequenting pool halls and bars to seek challengers. Recently, I began playing in tournaments at our local hall and, boy, is that learning curve steep. APA rules are different from bar rules, and so I've learned new terms like "ball in hand" and "in the kitchen." I've acquired new accoutrements, like a break stick, a shooting glove, and a pool tip shaper. These are high competitors, these pool tournament folks, and they don't suffer amateurs patiently. Compared to them, I'm a rank amateur. I was schooled about A) not chalking up the table too much; and B) not hovering too close to the table to view my opponent's shots; and C) how to improve my piss-poor, anemic breaks. So it was that I frequented another local bar here in Ormond Beach, Florida, by the name of "Frank's." There, beyond the view of these tournament sharks, I practiced on my own - perfecting angles and bank shots, learning about "walking the dog" (pool slang for rolling a ball against the rail all the way down to a corner pocket) and trying not to chalk up the table. This went well for some time, until I ran afoul of Frank's bartendress, who apparently took an instant disliking to me. Surly and rude - to several patrons, I've heard - she chided me for leaving my debit card behind, for playing music on my iPhone that "nobody wants to hear" and for - you know - chalking up the table (even though Frank's provides abundant chalk for just this purpose). So apparently, according to patrons, I further irritate said bartendress - she is inaptly named "Charity" -- by talking too much with her boyfriend and shooting against him. So, things started to get ugly. Charity's boss, the two of them friends, marches up to me one evening after I walk in, and declares that I was spotted lifting someone's purse the night before. First, the purse in question belonged to a friend and fellow shooter who asked me to move it from one chair to a chair closer to her. Second, while I'm hardly made of money, I'm not yet at the point where I need to pilfer purses. I try to object, but then realize that this owner, her name is Annette, has it out for me. So, I return to Frank's and try not to chalk up, keep my iPhone on silent, retrieve my debit card dutifully, and avoid said bartendress's sometime boyfriend. Only to be confronted one more by "Annette," who claims that there have been "too many complaints" about me and then announces she's banning me from "Frank's." Now I fully recognize that an establishment's owner has the freedom to refuse service to anyone, for any reason. I'm also aware that what went down here was about jealousy, pettiness, and retribution. Regardless, there are other local halls - including the tournament hall where shooters are tough -- but friendly and helpful. In any event, I sort of consider this a badge of honor. I've been kicked out of a pool hall! Wait 'till my future grandchildren hear about it. Meanwhile, the rumors of my apparent transgressions drifted down a few blocks to the new pool hall I began frequenting -- entitled "Hanky Panky's." Before long, the owner there, a man by the name of Mike, had it out for me. So did the woman running the tournaments there, who quickly found reason to kick me out of said tournaments after I beat her a few times. Eventually, owner Mike --a thoroughly messed up and apparently coked or methed up guy -- kicked me out as well.
