After getting my inserts from the Good Feet Store and finally being able to walk without being in excruciating pain, I decided to celebrate by having dinner at this location in Manayunk. First, let's talk parking. Parking in Manayunk is always a challenge, especially during the summer months. There are paid parking lots further down that I would highly recommend using because street parking can be difficult to find. We made a reservation ahead of time, and I definitely recommend doing that through OpenTable. When we arrived, it was a little warm inside, and I immediately noticed it. Thankfully, I always carry a fan with me, so it wasn't a big issue. Now let's get to the real reason for this review Ali!!!! When I tell you Ali was amazing, I mean AMAZING. Her personality, energy, attitude, and spirit made our entire dining experience. She was funny, knowledgeable, attentive, accommodating, and had excellent recommendations. Great service can turn a good meal into a great experience, and that's exactly what she did. We started with the cheesesteak rolls, which were served with a spicy ketchup. They were good and had great flavor. Next was the calamari, which was absolutely delicious. It came with fried jalapeños, and when you paired a piece of calamari with a jalapeño and dipped it in the sauce, it was perfection!!! We also ordered the mussels, and if you're a garlic lover, these are a must order. They were loaded with garlic and butter sauce served with crusty bread perfect for soaking up the broth. I did take away and they dumped my bread into the sauce so it was soggy. Suggesting, give fresh bread on takeaways wrapped separate. Best of all, almost every shell actually had a mussel in it which unfortunately isn't always the case at some restaurants. They were fresh, flavorful, and one of my favorite dishes of the night. Since it was Taco Tuesday, we couldn't pass up the special: three tacos and a margarita for $18. You do have to choose one protein for all three tacos; you can't mix and match. I chose shrimp, and my son chose chicken. The shrimp tacos were absolutely delicious. There wasn't a lot on them, but the flavor was incredible. You could taste the fresh corn tortilla, and the shrimp were juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly. My son enjoyed the chicken tacos, although I personally thought the chicken was a little dry. One thing I absolutely loved was learning that the food is fresh and locally sourced. Ali explained that they don't use microwaves, and you can definitely taste the difference. For drinks, I ordered a strawberry pineapple margarita. There was a small mix-up with the strawberry, but Ali immediately fixed it and brought me strawberry syrup to make it right. Problem solved! The margaritas were delicious and STRONG, which is exactly what I like. Overall, my favorite items were the shrimp tacos, the mussels, and the margaritas. The food was great, the atmosphere was fun, and the service was outstanding!!! We enjoyed ourselves so much that we're already planning to come back for brunch and try the mimosa tower. If you visit, ask for Ali. You won't regret it!! She made an already great meal even better. We'll definitely be back! read more

Visiting family and we stopped in for a late dinner last night. For a Monday night it seemed cool with a DJ playing so great throwback jams. Service was good for the most part and the food was ok. The main reason for the low rating is because as we were eating a mouse runs out from the kitchen and we brought it to the attention of the staff who took about 10 minutes to catch the mouse. Now no one from the staff apologized for the rodent issue so I'm assuming that this is a common occurrence. None of the staff seemed bothered by the situation to let their manager know and no one offered us a discount due to that scene that just transpired in front of us. So my sister and her family who live here in Philly as well as my wife and I will not be eating here again. read more

We asked our server three times for utensils and napkins but didn't get them until after he brought our food out. Awkward moment when we were all staring at our plates without forks. My girlfriend had to ask again for utensils after plates hit the table and only then did we get them. Appetizers were already cold by the time we got them. I ordered the mushroom pappardelle, it came out as a soup. Literally under seasoned noodles drenched in this thin viscous soup. Had this film on the top of it that looked like it had congealed. It tasted awful. My girlfriend got the shrimp scampi. Same problem, VERY soupy. We sent our dishes back two bites in. Aperol spritz I ordered was the sugariest drink I ever had. We had a last minute brunch SNAFU at another restaurant, leaving us literally standing in the rain with no place to eat. I called SOMO and amazingly they could take us. When I mentioned accessibility issues, the person on the phone was very clear about how many steps and how far to our table. We were seated in the barn, which is overflow event space with four tables that can seat up to six. It was a rainy day and a little chilly, but they even had heat lamps inside. Omar the server was lovely and accommodating. He even offered a faster, back alley way for us to access the space that was easier for those of us with mobility issues. Food overall was solid -- the single add on items make it great for kids (one giant pancake for $7). Crab cakes were lackluster, but the shrimp and grits were amazing. read more

They have a really nice brunch menu and I love the options for turkey. The food was average (frittata and croissant sandwich). The disappointment was that our meals came with potatoes and the server asked if we wanted them with peppers. This turned out to be an extra $2 each. Next time let the customer know if you are the one suggesting it. My meal came with toast. I was not asked what kind of toast I wanted, so when the meal came out with white bread I asked for whole grain instead. Again, another $3 upcharge without notification. Kind of frustrated by that also. Lastly, they only serve drip coffee, no lattes. Ambience is nice, server was polite, and I like the option to dine outdoors and make reservations. read more

I was very pleased with my meal here and the overall vibe! Came here as there was some time to kill while awaiting an event. It was originally quiet and low key before ordering but by the time the appetizers came out the bar started to fill up and a dj was setting up. I was told by the server they were getting ready for their weekday dj set, on a Monday or Tuesday if I remember correctly! This was my 2nd time visiting Somo. I will say I enjoyed myself better the first time. The first time I attended for brunch and this time I went for dinner. We had reservations for 6:30pm and were able to be seated right away. It was also restaurant week while we were there but we decided to just order from the regular menu as there were no appetizer options on the pre fixe menu that interested us. My food was ok. I give the restaurant 3 stars because we were placed all the way at the back of the restaurant like in front of a curtain leading to an employee area. There was another large group of black women sitting next to us all the way in the back as well. However, there were so many open tables towards the front. Previously I had reserved the booth outside but they didn't have any available this go around. I'm just hoping that the seating issue was a mishap. Also the drinks were terrible. My liquor nor my boyfriend's liquor tasted proper. Our cocktails tasted just like a juice concentrate. We then ordered additional Shot on the side and his Reposado was clear I ordered Hennessy and you could tell from the color and taste it was altered. Came early sunday morning before the big sunday brunch rush. Service was good and quick. The food was pretty good. My eggs were a bit rubbery for my taste but the potatoes, sandwich and burrito were good. Definitely a good option for brunch in Manayunk. They also have some outdoor sidewalk seating. Booked a reservation for a late birthday celebration with a couple of friends. Been wanting to try this place for a while and thought it would be a good vibe and option for brunch. Make sure to give yourself time finding parking given the area and make sure at least a few people from your party are there so you can get seated immediately. Cool ambiance and decor - I like the style of the booth seating. Staff were all very friendly and personable. Our waitress was cool and helpful when asking for her opinion on a few things. They moved pretty quickly with food and drink service, and everything came out right (temperature of food, items we ordered,etc.). Overall, we all enjoyed what we ordered. My Crab Cake Benedict had a good seasoning and taste to it and having them add peppers&onions to my potatoes was the way to go. My friends said what they ordered was pretty good too. One friend asked for her wings to be fried hard but realized maybe she didn't need to do that, but they were still pretty good - the Sriracha Honey sauce was tasty and a good balance of the two flavors. And my other friend said the Chicken and Waffles were also good, he just didn't end up using the sauce that came with it because of the consistency (it has a good taste though!) This place is HAPPENING on Saturday for brunch so definitely make sure you have a reservation. Come with a group because they have mimosa towers that are quite amazing. It seems they're not super big on coffee, but their cold brew is on point. Highly recommend the Salmon BALT (bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato) which is a beautiful and large fillet of salmon. Had dinner here recently. The dining room is sparsely decorated but very comfortable. I would have liked a little less volume from the DJ in the bar area but it wasn't horrible. Our server was fast and friendly. I had the fried chicken sandwich. The chicken was crispy, hot and tender. The fries, however, were none of those things. They were limp, soggy, luke warm. My wife had the Salmon BALT (bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato) She enjoyed it. I might have given this place a 4 star except the bill includes a 20% gratuity added in. Found another gem in Manayunk, PA. We stopped in for brunch. Based on its dining area size, we were worried about seat availability with our large party of 7. To our surprise, they ushered us into literally a separate back area for larger groups. It's nicely decorated. It has a relaxed, welcome vibe that makes you forget where you are. This area had a dedicated server that was friendly and accommodating. Their menu was not huge but had a little something for everyone. My banana's foster pancakes were heavenly. This place is busy on a Sunday and for good reason. I made a 1pm reservation for 4 people and once the entire party was there, we were quickly seated to a table. We ordered the Mimosa tower for $69 which was a great price versus individual drinks. The noisy level is about 3 on a scale of 5. It's loud from all the people around talking and laughing but not as loud where you need to yell at your dining companions for them to hear you. I ordered the Fried Chicken French Toast which included a sunny side up egg (which I requested be fried hard) and a gravy drizzled over the chicken. The food was delicious. I ordered the loaded fries and was completely disappointed. The bacon was burnt beyond saving and honestly, I'm a terrible cook but even I can make better bacon than what they served. To make things worse, the gravy tasted like it came straight out of a can from a grocery store. For the prices they charge, the quality is a total rip off. My friends and I are on the hunt for the best happy hour in Philly and SOMO was one of the establishments on our list of places to revisit. We frequented on a "Taco Tuesday" before our HH review. Let's start with the basics - there's street parking available and two happy hour time slots Monday through Friday (4:30-6pm & 9-10pm). Aesthetically, it's a very hip vibe but romantic enough for a date night. As far as our happy hour review was concerned, the food choices were limited. I tried the FROSÉ and crispy Asian wings, both were delicious! Sadly, there were only two additional food options so we decided to order a few things off the dinner menu. We tried bruschetta, meatballs, disco fries, calamari and nachos. These items were an average of $14 each. Everything else tasted delicious. The service was great, but wish we could have been in the main dining area. This was on a Monday so there was a DJ. We were on the side with low lighting which was nice but not where the action was. I would definitely come here again. I've been here a few times recently. I had some friends coming up from DC and we were going to do brunch here, so a few weeks prior, another friend and I scoped it out for an early dinner. We got there at the "in between" time where they only had a few items on the menu while they switched from brunch to dinner, and we decided we'd give it a shot and sit at the bar. I had the burger and I can't even remember what my friend got. But my burger was delicious, and the bartender was nice and engaging - we had a good time. Now I know that Philadelphia doesn't hold a candle to DC when it comes to brunch, but as one of the few places around that offers bottomless mimosas, this was the place to be. I had a reservation for 8 of us, that was confirmed several times. There was still a bit of confusion when we arrived and I heard one host say to another "I don't know where we're going to put them." We ended up having to wait about 20min to finally get sat. Which whatever, not a big deal - the place was swamped so I get it. We had SUCH a great time here! Our server was very nice and always made sure our mimosas were full, never had to even ask for another one at all - she would just swing by with the pitcher. There really was something for everyone on the menu, especially with some in the party being vegetarian or having dietary restrictions. I got the fried chicken and French toast. I am not a French toast person at all because I prefer savory to sweet, but everything else on this menu item sounded amazing so I gave it a shot. It was SO good, not overly sweet at all - the slaw and chorizo gravy really took it over the top for me. They are definitely strict on the time limit and stopped the mimosas right on the dot - with blue laws being as they are, makes sense. We are used to DC prices so seeing how not expensive our bill was a nice surprise. Overall, everyone in my party had a really great time and enjoyed the food and service. It was... OK. I sat in a partially open back area with a group. The benches were really hard where we were sitting, though it had a cute ambiance to it with little decorative pillows (more cushioning for the seating, please). Our group ordered late into our reservation, but the food taking long to come made it feel like I was there forever. I have to imagine it was about 40 minutes at least. Anyways, the food was pretty standard. I think the standout was the crispy beignets, though the frittata was adequate. The jury is still out. I would return if someone wanted to go, but I'm not sure I can recommend it yet. read more
