I've had SomiSomi many times before and it's never disappointed. Most recently I was in the Sawtelle area for lunch. It was a hot summer day, so I wanted something cold to cool down with and Somisomi was perfect. The flavors available when I came were: milk, matcha, cookies n creme, ube, banana milk, and black sesame. I've seen all of them before except the banana milk, so I decided to give that a try. I got milk and banana milk swirl served in a cup for $4.50, with coconut flakes and graham cracker crumbles on top. It was really good with strong hints of banana, even mixed with the milk flavor. I can't imagine how strong the banana flavor must be if I had gotten just banana milk by itself. There's no seating inside, but they have some outdoor seating along the sidewalk. It was really hot out, so I decided to stand and eat inside so the ice cream would melt slower in the AC.

One of my go-tos for a sweet treat in the area. I usually get the Upside Down Ahboong in Cookies and Cream with Custard filling and Biscoff crumble. It's delicious just wish the fish was more warm or fresh as it used to be. Still good though!

Good, busy Somisomi location. I came here with a friend and didn't wait too long in line for our soft serve. I tried their matcha & black sesame combo, and it was delicious! It was a big portion size and I was barely able to finish it all after a hearty dinner, but I loved the texture of the soft serve combined with all the different toppings. Would love to try other flavors from this location again!

Delicious! Got ube swirl and it was one of my favorite desserts in LA. fish pastry with Nutella was an excellent touch. It wasn't too much Nutella. The sprinkles were super hard, but I came back the next night and will be back again.

LACTOSE FREE MY ASS. i've drank straight milk from jugs n farted less than i fart every time i eat somi somi. yummy but may not be worth it if you're not willing to feel the consequences.

This is my absolute favorite dessert spot !!!! The upside down ahbong is my friends favorite. I love the taiyaki which is a hit filled mochi! The custard and cheddar are so so good!!! There's small seating outside and standing room as well! On the weekend it can get pretty busy like 20-30 minute wait, but it's worth it!! Also lactose friendly soft serve. Love that it's quick self ordering on the iPad as well! Very clean and bright inside.

Ube soft serve - one of my favorite - does not have a weird artificial taro after taste

Yet another beautiful day at somi somi :) I can never decide between the soft serve and getting the takiyaki. Maybe one day I'll choose one or the other. Today is not the day.

First time trying SomiSomi and it was so fun! I picked the coffee and black sesame combo soft serve with some graham cracker and sprinkles topping The ice cream was so good and fish cone was the perfect compliment. They are generous with the ice cream serving! The only complaint was the sprinkles were so hard and felt grainy when you bit into it...I had to wait for them to melt a bit to be enjoyable But regardless, I'll definitely be back!

Stumbled into this small Somisomi off Sawtelle as a was looking for a frozen yoghurt. That in itself was rare and perhaps even rarer is finding a parking space on Sawtelle. I parked on Mississippi and was intrigued by this joint. I walked in and after finding out what was gluten free and lactose free, I got a cup of pistachio, which was my father's favorite flavor. It was very creamy and I enjoyed the subtle.

Collette K.

Absolute must try! Don't skip out on their ice cream... perfectly creamy and not too sweet!

Elika Z.

Another amazing return. I got the matcha and cookies and cream swirl this time and it was delicious. It hits everytime and I think for the price they give a generous amount I can barely finish it. I think you could literally split it with someone. Staff was great and fast service!

I've been a long time fan of Somi Somi, their fish shaped bungeoppang filled with custard (& other flavors) is the best! It was a hot day in Sawtelle, so we decided to stop by for a sweet treat. They have a great variety of fillings to choose from : red bean, black sesame, custard, Nutella. Plus they also have variety of soft serve flavors, which they also have a weekly flavor sometimes and are always fun to try. Service was quite quick, we waited about 10 minutes since they make the bungeoppang fresh. Totally worth it for that warm, crisp bungeopang with creamy filling inside. Perfect spot for when you're craving a sweet dessert

Belinda C.

Unique flavors! Fish-shaped waffle cone (taiyaki)! Fast service! The menu is simple. You have 3 options for ice cream: in a cup (no waffle fish), upside down (in a cup with an upside down waffle fish), or ah boong (waffle fish as the cone). I got black sesame upside down with a matcha custard filling in my taiyaki. There wasn't a lot of filling, but I really liked the taiyaki. It was fresh and crispy. Black sesame ice cream is one of my favorites - not too sweet. Husband got banana pudding and he was so happy. It's hard to find good, simple banana ice cream. There was a line, and only 2 tablets for you to order, but once you place your order, it was ready quickly. Follow their IG page for the week's flavors and swirls. Highly recommend!

The soup was simply delicious with a smooth velvety texture and flavor. The ramen was so good (freshly made every day) in its finest al dente texture with a nice large diameter. Rare in The OC. The rib meat can be removed with chopsticks ! And the most tenderness of protein. The kimchi cabbage and radishes are so delicious. Spicy but not kickass (ok for me) biting into sweetness I've never tasted anywhere in the world that serves K-ramen. Service is most excellent as they immediately greet you, seat you, menu, then, the table top appetizers are served. I believe the owner or chef brought the entrees. That's different! They've mastered the art of keeping Korean flavors while dropping in modern twists that totally elevate every dish. The braised galbi served on a spread of mashed potatoes with various mushrooms is a total masterpiece. The zabuton is also one of my favorites if you like an asado and plenty of garlic. The golden chicken nuggets with seaweed powder on top are so perfectly crispy and packed with flavor. I have to admit the corn cheese egg rolls are probably my favorite thing on the menu, something as simple like a mozzarella stick type of appetizer just really hits it for me. And one of my favorite cocktails of all time. The staff is always so nice every time. They're attentive and honest with us if we are over-ordering. The ambiance is elite, even after renovation. Danbi is an absolute gem in Ktown. It's the perfect spot show off the city to out-of-town guests or for an incredible night out. 10/10 recommend!

I really enjoyed eating it with the radish wrap. It didn't feel greasy at all. Paired with the mandoo guk to take a break from bossam was the best. Service was never that superb here, as the servers always looked busy and they're hard to flag down. Today was a busy night for them as well, we came at peak dinner time, but by 20 mins into our dinner, quite a few tables had cleared up. It seemed like they only had 2 servers on the floor - same ones I see when we come in for lunch. The taller gentleman is usually nicer and more accommodating. For a group of 6 people, we got so little banchan. Usually when I go to a Korean restaurant with more than 5 people, we usually get 2 sets of banchan for each side of the table. With 6 people, 4 guys, we ran out of banchan almost immediately. Some of my friends' water cups stayed empty unless we asked for more. Never once did either of the servers check on our table. Every time we needed something, we had to flag them down or go up to the register to ask. Things we asked for were all reasonable: 1st round: - water refill 2nd round: - water refill - banchan refill - another order of soju - sharing bowls for the soup When the other server had brought over the bowls for the soup, he slid it against my soju cup and it spilled on the table and my lap. He noticed it too even turned around, but didn't offer any napkins. Our water refill, banchan AND the bottle of soju never came. I had to get up and ask for extra napkins to wipe the table/my jeans. My friends went almost the entire meal w.o water - at one point, it was SO hard to find & flag them down. We gave up on trying to get more banchan & soju, finally got water refill at the end, had to flag down for check, had to go up to the register to have them close the check, by this time the restaurant was maybe 50-60% empty. I'm giving them a higher rating because this is still my favorite bossam and doenjjang jjigae. However, very bummed to have experienced such an unpleasant service.

I dropped by for lunch around noon on a Saturday and was so happy to be seated right away. Our party was a table for 5. Although half of our party was running late, the staff allowed us to be seated and didn't rush us to order. It was a refreshing experience, especially in koreatown - and a busy restaurant at that. We ordered the banchan set for 3 and 2 mains - Galbi and corvina. The banchan came with a variety of side dishes - that are refilled if you need more. The galbi was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, while the corvina was equally delicious and a nice addition to the table. Everything tasted fresh, and the portions were incredibly generous. I'm vegetarian, my 3 other friends are all omnivores so we got the set for 3 and then ordered 1 meat dish for them to share and even then there was a CRAZY amt of food. There is such a large variety of banchan + 2 soups (1 soybean paste soup or doenjang jjigae and the other a chicken soup). The banchan tasted fresh, healthy, and delicious overall. You can also ask for rice refills as your meal progresses in case you get low in comparison to the sides. Oh, and I almost forgot, they also gave us jeon/small pancakes which were deeelish. My friends loved their meat dish as well so all in all very happy and absolutely worth the price imo. We were all so stuffed by the end and just as we thought we were done, they gave us two different desserts and I definitely KO'ed on the spot. The interior is warm, inviting, and stylistically decorated with a lot of Korean touches. The center of the restaurant also has a variety of takeout containers so you don't need to feel like you're inhaling all the food at once and can take things to go. If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.

We decided to go at the last minute, so we didn't have a reservation, which you can make through Resy. Jenny, the hostess, was so sweet and was able to get us seated right away. My friend was awestruck by all the autographs from various artists displayed. The restaurant was lively with people chatting and K-pop playing, but it was nowhere near too noisy. Our table was already set with a variety of banchan: white kimchi, buchu, Korean sweet potato, salad, onion with mustard dressing, garlic and scallions, plus salt and sauces served in individual ramekins for each of us. Andy was incredibly helpful navigating the menu and making recs. I've never had a server as attentive as Andy. The moment one of our banchan ran low, he was replacing it with a fresh serving (banchan refills are unlimited). He even brought me ssamjang and red kimchi before I had to ask for them. The choices were overwhelming, but with his expert guidance, we settled on a Beef Combo and a japchae appetizer. The japchae was delicious and so flavorful. The vegetables tasted as though they'd been grilled to perfection over charcoal. So good. When our meats arrived, Andy and Martin cooked them to perfection on the grill at our table. The show was gas. Martin also made sure to let us know when the meat was done so we could dig in (nom nom nom). He even recommended a soju that paired perfectly with the meats we ordered. I felt so pampered. I'm convinced that all the reviews claiming the meats are tasteless or low-quality come from people who don't know how to appreciate authentic Korean BBQ. The meats are incredibly flavorful on their own, but you're also served salt, various sauces, garlic, and scallions on the side so you can customize each bite to your taste. Pro tip from Martin: Mix the garlic and scallions into the sauce, dip your meat in it, then dip it in a little salt before digging in. SO GOOD! The marinated meat was perfect on its own or with the dipping sauce. We were so full and content - and 10lbs heavier - by the time we left. Split between my friend and me, the bill came to about $50 each. The amount of food felt comparable to an AYCE Korean BBQ, except with better-quality meat and service that was better than fine dining.
