Will drive for Som Jai. I really enjoy this restaurant that has both authentic thai food and some Hmong traditional foods. Hmong is an ethnic group, and it's rare to find Hmong food availabe at restaurants. I highly recommend trying the Hmong options. I order the B1 special that is ground pork in a chili sauce with sticky rice and a fried egg on top. It's always cooked perfectly, including the egg with a runny yolk. We also order the Hmong sausage with sticky rice, and I split it with my husband and have leftovers. The service is great. We have both dined in and gotten take out. I love everything we have tried, and I'm glad we have access to authentic options and rare dishes. read more

She claims she is the daughter of the business but , I don't believe she would speak like that of that was the case . I ordered by calling the restaurant. They said it would be a 40min wait. Decided to go early and wait until pick up and what felt like enough time, went inside, was told to wait for another 4mins or so. It took a lot longer than expected. As someone who used to work in restaurant, this can happen due to being understaffed most of the time. I could tell that this restaurant was understaffed, I saw the lady and her child working only, during the time which I came in. The lady was making the food, taking care of dine in customers that were there, handling the phone line to take orders, it was hectic and very busy for them and I understand that things can take time but no customer should wait 1hr for their food. I was patient and understanding so I did not become one of those customers who got aggressive and upset about the wait time. However, had it been someone else, I highly doubt they would be as patient and understanding as me. So if they could hire staffs to make things go more smoothly and efficiently, it would be a lot better for this business. After all the wait and finally getting my food, the lady gave me 2 free nab va, which is kind and generous of her because I know that the wait time was too long and you'd try your best to accommodate to your customers by making sure they're satisfied at the end for the service. The food was great and actually very enjoyable. I enjoyed the faum kauv very much and I would love to return and keep supporting this business. It's rare to see Hmong ran restaurants that actually makes a variety of Hmong food. They usually stick to what's popular but this place gives you more options than that. My only recommendation/tip for those who wants to order for pick up, I'd say give it 40min-1hr wait. I wanted to find a good curry not far from the office so I could get lunch and get back to the office in an hour. Som Jai Thai met the location requirement and I quickly found they met the "good curry" requirement too. It was great really. I had the Green Curry with mild spice and it was just warm enough to remind me why I love curry so much. I went with a colleague and he cleaned his Pad Thai up in short order so I know there were no complaints there. The staff was super friendly and attentive. Our glasses never ran out of water and she made just enough small talk to let us know we were important to us without overdoing it and making us feel like we couldn't continue our own conversation without a reminder of where we left off. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, not overcooked and mushy but still just enough firmness to let us know they were definitely fresh. I thing the rice portion probably impressed me the most. Every place that serves rice has perfected the right balance for sticky rice but I frequently find myself asking for a little more because I LOVE curry AND rice in every bite. If I run out of rice I start looking for the server to get it stat so I can enjoy every drop of the curry. Thank you for getting it right! Their quick customer service and food prep helped them turn the tables quickly to accommodate others looking to eat their delicious fare. Amazing! I dined in for the first time today but my family has been ordering through door dash with som jai for a while now and we are never disappointed. The food is always hot and fresh. They pack their food very nicely with cardboard cut outs to make sure it arrives in great condition. My husband loves their fried rice with chicken and I really enjoy their papaya salad with sticky rice. So flavorful! Dining in today was very pleasant as well! So clean and tidy. I would give 0 star if I could but 1 star because the server was so sweet Where do I even begin with this place. Let me start with the owner has anger issues. Walked in all was good. We Ordered 4 different dishes, nobody was in the restaurant as they just opened. My son ordered Pad Se-ew and when it came out he said it didn't taste good. Mind you he always gets this dish from here. I took a bite and it tasted like soap. All the other dishes were very good. I let the waitress know that my son's dish didn't taste right and I'm sorry I would like to send it back. She was very kind and took the dish. We have ordered from here numerous times both carryout and dine in and always loved their food. A few minutes later she cames back and said she had to charge me for the dish as that is what the chef told her. I said he took one bite and I don't even have the food that you're charging me for. She then said ok I will talk to him. Then a very rude lady came to me and said what's the problem I'm the owner. I let her know exactly the issue. She said " you don't like any of my food if you want free food I will give you free food. You see sign it's not my problem you don't like it" I said I never said I don't like your food it was just that dish. She got very loud and was getting defensive. She did not give me a chance to speak as she was yelling at me and told me to leave. The owner walked away with my cash to pay a bill for 4 dishes and we only had 3 at the table. As she walked away she called me a "dumb ass". That's when I got loud and said what did you just call me? Give me my change and carry out box so I can leave. After screaming and swearing at me kicking me out. She then pulled out her phone started recording saying " these people want to come in my restaurant and want free food". Mind you I paid for my dishes I also paid for a dish we sent back. Never did I say I don't want to pay for everything. I just didn't want to be charged for the dish we didn't eat. This was all done in front of our kids and our daughter and toddler got so scared. She didn't have a camera out when she was screaming at me calling me names. Her whole approach was so unprofessional and I am not OK to be treated like that, especially in front of my children. We didn't even finish eating because how she came at me. I have never in my life been treated so poorly. I hope they never treat or make anyone feel the way I felt at that moment. I will let every family and friend know what I experienced as they always support this business because of me. read more

It's a small place, the food has been good on the several occasions I've eaten here. It's near "Royalty House."

First time ordering from this restaurant and it was good. I ordered the pork belly with sticky rice that, chicken fried rice, nab vam & Thai tea. Delicious! Saw a post on Facebook and I just happened to be craving Hmong Food! I ordered the kapoon (chicken red curry noodles) and the stuffed chicken wings. $10 for a quart of soup and $4 per stuffed chicken that comes with chili sauce to dip. Staff is really nice. Come a little bit after they tell you for your order time because they can get busy. Inside is a bit shabby, but I know they're new and just need some time to get up and running.
