TLDR: Despite the amount of people getting takeout here, the quality of the food does not disappoint. There are only two tables to eat at in the front with some decorations, making the inside of the restaurant feel as if you are eating in someone's dining room. The attendant at the front made sure my needs were met despite flying back and forth to deal with constant takeout orders. For my dinner, I ordered the pork pad thai and the thai milk tea, 16 ounces. The meal started with a complimentary chicken and rice soup, served in a small bowl. The broth of the soup was made up of a fatty and rich chicken stock, with a slight aroma of fish sauce and some cracked peppers. As soon as I tasted it, I could tell that the food was going to be quality. The thai milk tea was on the better end. It's not the best thai milk tea I have ever had, but its strong, concentrated flavor got the job done. The pad thai, while not as reddish colored as I have seen other places make it, very much tasted like authentic pad thai. I ordered the dish with the medium spice level, and I was happy to receive the proper Thai medium spiciness, not some watered down version that pulls back on the punches. The pork in the dish was tender, not overcooked or dry. I also appreciated that there wasn't a large amount of bean sprouts dumped onto the meal to make it seem as if the quantity of the food was larger. There was enough food served that I had another whole meal packed in a container at the end. Overall, I'm glad that there is a good Thai option nearby for people to enjoy. I'd love to come back to order some of their other dishes. read more

We have ended this restaurant several times and we are loyal customers. It's been a year since our last review and still they are going strong. Their curries are amazing and their tofu is extra delicious. We always get the Inari rolls and the fried tofu special roll. We are vegetarian, so Thai food is a win for us. So we usually love this place however our carry out yesterday not so much. We ordered a Tom Yum soup with extra shrimp ($3) and all that was added was the very small salad type shrimp and only 4 in each order of soup. Also the shrimp was very hard. Our sushi that we ordered salmon roll the rice was actually crunchy. Not like it should be. And last we ordered 2 veg rolls. The reason for veg rolls was because they were out of shrimp rolls. This all was over $33. It certainly was a disappointment. Maybe it was just a different chef? This makes me skeptical to go there again. I hope they can get back to being great again. read more

Best Thai food in the Chesterfield area. That said, you'll find better if willing to venture another 20 miles or so. Mostly carry-out however there are a couple small indoor tables served by multitasking counter staff. Nice vibe inside. Recommended for locals wanting a good Thai fix. read more

What a cute mom and pop shop. When you go into the bathroom, you open the door to the hallway, and it is very floral and whimsical. The food itself was very comfort food. My husband got food coma after eating . I love their pad thai, best one I ate so far especially in Michigan. We got a fish curry and that was well excuted . The food is ok. I have seen some reviews where people have complained that it seemed inauthentic. The spice level is decent. We ordered two pineapple tofu fried rice dishes, and one beef pad Thai on a Saturday. The bill was just over $50, which we find pretty ridiculous to pay $17 a dish - for rice and rice noodles. Although the food is decent, it's definitely not worth $50 for dinner out for rice and rice noodles. A message to the ownership: you should lower your prices and stop gouging people because the mainstream narrative was that food prices have gone up. That's an old and tired story - and I think people just want to grab some decent Asian food from a one-table, mostly carryout, mom-and-pop shop and not be ripped off! read more

There are a few Thai places around the chesterfield/new Baltimore area; I wanna try them all so I have my go to for carry out. I'm glad I tried this place. I got some fresh sashimi rolls; eel, yellowtail and salmon. They were really good! The eel in particular is something I'll be trying again. I love Tom yum soup, and this one was really good. I wish there was just a tiny bit less sweetness. Other than that, it's something worth trying for sure. The main course was drunken noodles with chicken. It was cooked perfectly. I usually always go with pad Thai but decided against it. I'm glad I did. I hope to dine in next time so I can try some more sushi here! read more

I really really wanted to like this place, but after having it twice now, I just don't see how people like it. We had them for the first time a couple months ago. Decided to dine in and get sushi. The sushi looked really, but flavor wise, I couldn't taste anything past the spice. Like I get that their name has "spicy" in it, but every sushi roll is made with Sriracha on it, I even asked that it be left off and it still came with it on. It was so spicy, I couldn't taste any other part of the roll. Tonight we tried their Thai. The potstickers are not pan fried or deep fried, they are like air fried to the point to where it is like eating dried out dough. The filling was really good, but the dough is just dry and hard. Got the crab rangoons, which were ok, tasted like everybody else's, nothing special. Got chicken pad Thai as well. We ordered one mild and one medium. I thought they were going to be super spicy because even the mild was super red in color but it wasn't. What it was though, was super ketchup tasting. So they obviously make their pad Thai sauce using ketchup, in no way anywhere near authentic. We threw it out. So like I said, really wanted to like these guys, but we're done trying with them. read more

Ordered Curry Noodles very mild and crispy rolls. The noodles were green curry (instead of red) which I've never seen before and they were so spicy I couldn't eat them and I can handle spicy food. The crispy rolls were also so tough you couldn't even chew them. Possibly the worst Thai food experience I've ever had. Decided to try someplace new, ended up at Mai's and it did not disappoint. Thai and sushi all in one place. We tried the spicy scallop roll, Bangkok roll, crispy rolls and pad thai. It was all very good. My only critique would be that the pad thai did not have the typical peanut sauce and it was a little sweet, but even still, it was tasty. I ordered some really good curry here (I think pad ped) a few weeks ago and had to come back, especially seeing they now have bubble tea. I ordered taro coconut milk tea with tapioca pearls and very mild drunken noodles with chicken. The drunken noodles were very salty. I ate a tiny bit of it, and I don't know if I'll finish because the salt is so overwhelming. I think it might be too much fish sauce, because it also has a fishy smell. I'm surprised because the curry I had last time was so good! The milk tea: The taro flavor was a little too subtle for me, but it looked pretty. The coconut flavoring was much better than I expected though. However, the pearls were completely mushy and flavorless. I've tried many bubble tea places, and these were some of the most disappointing. I would order popping boba instead. There also were far less pearls than I'm used to getting. I actually thought there was none in there until I stirred the drink. I doubt I'll be ordering bubble tea here again, but it's probably one of the best options in Macomb County. I feel silly complaining how quick the service was, but I was not excited to see that they completed my order 15 minutes before the estimated time. That could've contributed to the mushy tapioca pearls and definitely was the cause of my food being not warm enough. I arrived 5 minutes earlier than the estimated time, but I guess that's not early enough. read more

I love everything about this place! The food is incredible! And menu setup is super easy to understand. Each item has spice ratings so you know what is and isn't hot, plus each menu item is explained simply so you don't have to guess or look up what your interested in. The drinks are another level! I got to admit, we were very very skeptical about trying another Thai restaurant. We have been a dedicated Bangkok Cuisine customer since 2000 and stopped going after being totally dissatisfied in the past three visits - the quality of food was below average (tasteless/in-edible) along with a huge Covid price increase. Mai's food reminded me of early 2000 Bangkok but better, we ordered three entrees and two soups; the portion size was perfect and tasted soooo delicious.
