Great customer service but food is a little below mediocre standard. I have eaten at soooo many Thai cuisines and usually like to order Pad Se Ew as its usually noodles brown sauce along with meat of choice along with other ingredients. They barely use sauce in it plus you can literally count about 6 pieces of meat in there. So basically they need to use way more meat and sauce. read more

Great food. I asked for Pad Thai Curry with chicken and medium spice (which may not be a normal menu item, not sure I didn't look at the menu) and it was just what I was hoping for. Very reasonable price, generous portion. It'll be almost two meals for me. I had a bit of a hard time understanding the English of the guy I spoke to, but it seems he understood me and he got everything right on my (simple) order so I'm happy. I think many of the white Gen X'rs I know would have been frustrated though. read more

Unfortuneatly, I was so dissappointed here! We were looking for a new Thai restaurant on this side of town. So tried it, but was regretting that mistake once we got home. The meals were very undersized portions. Filled with nothing but hugely sliced peppers. Im usually OK with a ton of veggies, but this was just ALL Green Peppers! It was not at all balanced with the rest of the ingredients! Just a pepper overload. Otherwise, it probably wouldnt be that bad, since im on a diet anyway. Lol. I ordered a carry out tonight that was just perfect. The best thai I've had in the Macomb area in a very long time. We had shrimp pad thai and gang gai with tofu and both were spiced correctly and delicious even being transported to a destination 30 minutes away. Casual, enlightening, and calm ambiance. A quiet lunch with my love was definitely perfect for the beginning of our day. We started with miso soup--which was delicious--and a tempura California roll. The sushi tasted wonderful and it was apparent the ingredients were fresh. For our entrees we had chicken fried rice and Pad See Ew. The portions were well worth the price and the tastes were mouth watering. Not only was the food impeccable, our waitress was as well. The only thing I might recommend for this restaurant is avoiding an hour that might be busy... it is very small and doesn't offer a lot of seating. If you do go during a busy hour, I definitely recommend waiting. You won't be disappointed! read more

I stopped by Ban Tai for lunch one day as it was convenient based on where I was at that day. It was my first time and i was very pleased with my lunch =) I had a ginger chicken dish with brown sauce, where the ginger was very present, the vegetables were fresh and although cooked had a nice crunch to them, and I really respect how the portion was just right with the amount of food including white rice. Nowadays people think they need a huge amount of food for it to be worth their money, but we need to rethink to not demand quantity, but rather quality. I will always pay extra for fresher ingredients and better flavor versus a big quantity of food. Their lunch portion again was very satisfying and adequate and the flavors were lively and made me thoroughly enjoy my lunch. I would recommend this place to anybody that lives in the area or happens to be closeby =) Good job Ban Tai! read more

I used to love this place. After pandemuc I went there and ordered two different rice dishes. When I got home 40 mins away, I found they wrre the same and had mostly rice and nothing else. II went bavk today to give them anothet chance. Ordered pad thai without bean sprouts. Asked for extra egg and no spice. It looked ok. Took it home. There was absolutely no sauce on it. Flavorless. I have tried Thai restaurants all over the Detroit area and Ban Thai is HANDS DOWN the best. The food is amazing. Try the Gang Masaman. And to all those complaining about the sushi: This is a THAI restaurant! The fact that they offer sushi is icing on the cake (and it's pretty good by the way). But go for the Thai food. Tried this place for 1st time today. I was happy I did. Everything was made fresh to order and I waited about 15-20 mins for my "to-go" order. I tried the Tom Yum soup, Apple Salad, Spring Roll, Fresh Roll, and Veggie Fried Rice w/ Medium heat. All in all the food was pretty consistent in its quality. The Apple Salad was great! Very simple yet flavorful! Only thing I didn't like 100% was the soup, I've had better, but it was still more than edible. Too me it was a tad too salty and not enough lemongrass flavor. I also took more photos of their menu, as it seemed to have more options than the others on Yelp. Or it may just be the layout. I'll certainly try this place again in the future. read more

My boyfriend went there, he called to place the order off the pictures of the menus online because they don't have a website. He asked for green curry, they said they didn't have any but that they had yellow curry, so he said he wanted that, then proceeded to order our other three things, curry fried rice, Bangkok chicken, and spring rolls. Their credit card machine wasn't working, so they took his number to call him later. When he got home we found that they only gave us the latter three, we were about to call them when they called us and when we told them they had messed up and explained it several times they refused to admit they did anything wrong and offered no solution. The food is good but it isn't worth the hassle to order this way off pictures and phone calls and then when they mess up have the owners not do anything to make it right, I will be going elsewhere in the future. read more

There seems to have been a trend lately with Thai places. They get that we're American and our American pallets don't understand "Hot". I'm as white bread American as they come. However, due to circumstances beyond my control (I think they're called Fresh Habanero Peppers in my garden for several years), I like my food so hot that most people would ask "why not just drink a bottle of Dave's Insanity" (consequently, what most people don't understand is that good, really hot, food has a flavor to it that you cannot unlock until you're able to handle the heat). So when I order food at a new Thai restaurant, I feel obligated to express in very vivid terms that I want it ***hot***, no really HOT! This place did not disappoint. My first trip there I went with the "Very Safe" Pad Thai (which really isn't designed to be terribly hot). I received a bright red Pad Thai. Man was it good. My wife ordered a shrimp/veggie something or other and I was immediately disappointed at my safe choice. For one, as the previous reviewer notes, the Shrimp wasn't that micro-shrimp that tastes more like Tuna that's been sitting out for a month. It was tasty and the vegetables were firm, not over or under-cooked in a brown sauce that was simply perfect. I'll have to make a note to figure out what it was that she ordered ... I want that. Another folly of many Thai restaurants is when placing an order for two, and one person orders it fires of hell, hot and the other says "meh, medium", you get two dishes that split the difference and end up both equally hot. This was not the case here. Hers was "meh, medium", mine took layers of skin off of the inside of my cheek. Perfect. read more

Ordered take out for my brother and I and wow! Fantastic fresh food! Ordered 2 Tom Yum Shrimp soups which were on point! Personally could've left out the tomato in it but was still delicious! An order of fresh rolls which were fantastic! Loves the fresh mint they put in them which is different than your typical Thai places. The peanut sauce was thick compared to others as well which was nice because it stuck when they were dipped. 2 Shrimp Drunken Noodles one Medium and one Spicy. My brother enjoyed his medium n said he didn't care the the mint inside but all together was good. The spicy was a perfect spicy in my opinion. But I think to be a little more comfortable eating it, I may go with Medium next time. Our family will be ordering from here again! read more
