This was honestly the worst food I have ever had. I wouldn't even give this to my dog. No flavor, no seasoning, no nothing. Just blah.

Service was awesome, inside of the restaurant was clean, and food was tasty. The pad Thai wasn't too flavorful! There weren't many spices in the pad thai. It seemed like it was lacking spice or sauce. It was a tad dry! The crispy tofu was a bit blah and dry as well! The curry noodles as awesome sauce, cook, and flavor! I use to work next door to Thai Chef and these people are the kindest folks you will meet. They donate their extra food and are always top notch with the customer service. As far as the food itself, it's great! The portions are large enough that I would typically use it for two meals but so good that I will eat it all! Definitely worth checking out! read more

I have been getting Thai food from Thai Chef since 2006. We were new to the area and while registering my son for first grade, someone brought a carryout into theschool office. It smelled so delicious. They told me it was a local restaurant and that they were also a school family. Since then we have gotten numerous carry outs for home and catered work events. They have never disappointed. Everything we order is delicious and plentiful. Two orders can serve 3 to 4 people easily. This family takes great pride in their food and their community! read more

I love Thai food and I must say this place is extremely bland. I ordered carry out and felt bad when I saw how slow this place was. Then when I tasted the food I understood why. I've been to every Thai and Korean food in Clinton township, and this little restaurant is authentic as they come. I guarantee nothing compares to this place. I mentioned that I've been to most Thai and Korean food nearby, but there is one thing that separates Thai chef and the rest, QUALITY! For the most part my food does not coagulate because of fats, from oil or from the protein of choice. They don't wrap the Pad Thai (noodles dish) in an omelette and they don't have tamarind to turn it orange and gives it a tangy taste, but then again tell me a restaurant in the USA does that for you. I ordered pad Thai hot, garlic fried rice medium, and some hot & sour soup. The soup was just egg drop soup with green onions. I had giant pieces of egg and that was a little gross to me. My wife and I went here for lunch on the 4th of July. One of the few places that was actually open! It was a good hidden gem. When you walk in, there is a pickup counter a few tables to sit at and not much more. We took a seat and had full table service. I am not sure if they always do that, but we were attended to well (we were one of two tables of people there). We both really enjoyed our meals. Typical Thai food - as far as I know, it was authentic. I had the vegetarian Spring rolls and Pad Thai tofu. I don't remember what she had, but she liked it. UPDATE 510/19: Went here today spontaneously as I was at a nearby shop. Ordered the fish curry with extra veggies. It was before 3pm on a weekday so I got a complimentary soup as well. The soup was a simple chicken-noodle type (but no noodles) with crunchy clear veggies ... possibly bamboo shoots? It was really tasty & comforting. The fish curry was very delicious and the portion size was quite generous for the price. Some other local Thai places have higher prices/smaller portions. I plan on returning fairly soon. Yum! OLDER REVIEW: I don't really go here anymore. I guess it's probably been a year or so now. Their food just started getting more and more inconsistent, which spurred my decision to try a different Thai place closer to our house. At that time the other place only had 3/3.5 stars so I was hesitant but tried it anyway - I hate to say it but that place has tastier good & consistent quality. Because of that I don't really have the desire to return to this establishment, however, if I do try them again I hope they have regained their original standards & consistency. If I were to run across a coupon of some kind I'd be a lot more likely to return - otherwise I'm not sure if the point given it's proximity to my house. I wish this business well & hope they make any necessary improvements - I'm sure their location is much more convenient for many others. read more

FINALLY!!! I have found my new favorite Thai food. I just moved in from out of state and have been looking for a place that had not only good taste but actually spicy options. I have a high bar when it comes to spice tolerance and they hit it on the nose. Will be coming back for more. On top of that the guy was genuinely nice and knowledgeable. I dont know what Thai food you are used to having, but i saw the positive reviews and went here. My favorite Thai meal is Panaeng Curry. So, I ordered it here. It is horrific! Its a milky hot mess. There is no seasoning. I don't even know if its cooked with coconut milk. Its just bad and they give you so much peppers and no leafy greens inside of which there should be. I also got chicken fried rice... mediocre as hell. Mommy did not feel like cooking tonight. $20 and I ended up doctoring up their mess up flavorful spices and veggies because my family did not want it at all. What is Thai food without flavor? Whatever you do, do not order the dumplings. They were awful. I told the owner and she got very upset with me. She also tried to charge me for something I sent back. I will never go back there again. This was my first time visiting this restaurant, it doesn't look like much from the outside, nor on the inside. But the food tasted great and the presentation of the food was great as well. I ordered the Pad Thai Vegetable & the fried rice vegetable because I couldn't decide which to have. I got them at a medium level and they were both delicious. There was enough food on either to more than fill me up. I saved the leftovers and plan to enjoy them later (I don't usually save leftovers). My friend had the gang massaman cury, he enjoyed it as well. I think most people use this as a takeout, and for that it would be perfect. I also noticed that they sold trays of food for about $30-60 if you wanted it for catering. The trays said they were for 6-12 people ($5.50 per person was on the menu for the trays). Tried another new Thai place. Sadly not impressed. The Pad Thai was all mixed together and primarily bean sprouts and carrots. It did have plenty of chicken but had I ordered no sprouts...I don't know what would have been the main ingredient. The crab ragons had immitation crab and cabbage. I should have known better than to trust fresh rolls that only cost $2.50. I also think it's a far cry for the name of these to have the word "fresh" it it, if I'm being honest. 1 order of fresh rolls with tofu and 2 orders with chicken, that was my carry out order. I thought I'd start simple, to test the menu, as the reviews are mixed. This is as far as I'll get with the menu, and the one and only time I'll ever be here. While it wasn't awful, it was so not good. When I picked up my order, and carried it to my truck, I noticed that the packaging was different. I was curious and starving, when I got inside my truck, so I opened the bag. They had wrapped each order of rolls in Saran Wrap, the 3 orders were sitting on top of a piece of cardboard. The 3, 2oz cups of um.......um....peanut....peanut water....peanut wannabe sauce....brown liquid....peanut liquid....What was this?!?!? I shook it, examined it, shook it again. I was confused. I took my order back into the restaurant. I said, doesn't your fresh rolls come with the clear sauce, with crushed peanuts on top?, holding the 3 peanut-butter water cups. They told me no, "with peanut sauce". Ok, at least I knew what they called it. I asked if I could have the clear sauce with the crushed peanuts instead. What happened next happened so quickly and so unexpectedly, I'm still dumbfounded. They asked for the sauces back, I handed them over. They handed me 3 new sauces, wrapped in napkins. I put them in my bag, said thank you and quickly walked to my truck. Did anyone catch what just happened?!?! I took food from the restaurant. Went to my truck. Took said food back into restaurant. And they asked for food back. What were they going to do with food?? Why did they want it back?!?!? Were they going to give it to some else?!? Fresh rolls were not fresh. They were head lettuce, green onion, carrots, bean sprouts and either chicken or tofu. BUT- not all in every bite. They were the most uneven, clunky thing ever. Not to mention the most bland. Not cilantro, no basil, no mint. No flavor what-so-ever. The clear sauce tasted of sugar water with crushed peanuts swimming on top. The head lettuce was brown and rusty and in chunks, and dominated the rolls. 6 rolls in all, 2.5 eaten. One and done for certain. read more

The people who work here are courteous, kind, generous, and know their customers by name. I ordered a carry out a couple of days ago and they gave us a complimentary bowl of Hot & Sour soup. This was THE BEST soup we have ever had. It was so fresh and delicious. Second to none is their food. The entrees we ordered were phenomenal. The Tofu Pad Thai and Vegetable Curry were spiced to perfection. The portions for lunch were like dinner portions. Moreover, the tofu fresh rolls and homemade peanut sauce were extraordinary. What a nice little hole in the wall! I walked in and was greeted by a nice woman and given a menu. Asked for a water and a Thai iced tea, Thai iced tea was a 16oz and was about $2 and on par with others I've had. The veggie spring rolls came with 3 instead of the usual 2 and they seemed more..homemade than normal. They were very good. I ordered the veggie fried rice and the dinner portion was a LOT of food. Couldn't even finish half of it. The veggies were nice and crisp and the rice wasn't bad. Overall for $14 I was happy. I'd go back. read more

Spicy food should be spicy! I love the spice, but my girlfriend who does not, was also able to have her food sweet and delicious the way she likes. Awesome portions, great food, and it's right next to my house! I would say, however, that you might as well get your food to go. The staff is always nice and very quick with pointing out which food is what and how good it is. Usually I go for the Bangkok chicken, and the sauce that comes with it doesn't disappoint.
