Garlic Kow Pad fried rice was very bland. I ordered it with shrimp. I guess I'm used to the tails being removed...but none of them were. Rice was dry. Could not taste the garlic. Yucky. 23 & Romeo Plank Ban Thai is much better. Will not be returning. read more

First off, it isn't really a dine in place. The dine-in service isn't that great but for a take out place it is ok. Don't expect free refills. The portions are huge and I've always enjoyed everything I've ate there. Prices are pretty fair for the size of the meal. This place actually understands "mild" I'm not a fan of super spice and other Thai places have nearly killed with their definition of mild. First off, I am not a big fan of Thai food, but will stumble upon a spot that has an offering I like from time to time. That's what happened here, so they get my two thumbs up. The service for dine-in is typical of many simple East Asian eateries (they don't check on you much, but they are nearby at the counter to flag them for requests). The seating inside is small, and not very comfortable. Groups of 2-4 can snag a cramped booth, and a bigger group can maybe sit at the table and chairs in the middle of the dining room. Obviously, they have minimal space/staff and encourage carry out. Furthermore, I found it interesting that they use the same type of Corelle dinner plates that people use at home. I didn't mind. Felt like I was over someone's house in a way. I was here with my parents and brother, so it was nice to try some of everyone's food family style. Sharing helped us save by only needing about 3 dinner entrees for the 5 of us. On to the food. The Tom Yum soup has great lemon-sour and spicy broth. The pieces of raw tomato in it are not necessary, but not distracting either. Little excessive on the large pieces of onion in the soup too. But still good. We got chicken in it, but next time I will ask for tofu if it's the same price. Meals - very generous portions that do not skimp on the meat. Lunch deals will be plenty for one person, and dinner portions have enough entree and rice for two moderately hungry to share. Each person need only get your own dinner portion if you want a lunch portion to take home. Most of the red curry dishes are similar with the change of a few veggies (typical Americanized Thai offerings of course). Funny how you read through 15 things that all have the same red curry but just change a few ingredients. I must say the curries have good flavor. Creamy, red-orange richness - and they take spice levels seriously. I liked the hot level, but it was too much for my wife, who would have preferred medium-plus. I like how they use baby eggplant cut in coin sized pieces. They do not overload the veggies to the point where you can not find meat. Score. While my wife got the #37 fried catfish curry (which she enjoyed), I got the special 4-seasons whole fried tilapia. The rest of my family got chicken pad ped. All of our dishes were ordered hot, and came HOT. My whole fried tilapia fish was very authentic, full of flavor, and garnished with so many veggies around it. The fish itself was WHOLE. Including the head, tail, eyes - all that good stuff I like. It is for the daring, and the skilled with hands (to get all the meat without cutting your gums on any bones). The side of the fish facing up was crispy and dry to the touch. While the bottom side of it was drenched in a tasty sauce. This provided a much appreciated contrast. I appreciated this meal because not every Americanized Thai place will have an option like this. It was not even in the menu, but in posters on the window and wall rather. I had some of my wife's easier to eat meal as well. We shared both our meals and left very full with some leftovers. Our shared pint of soup and rather premium dinner portioned meals all came to around $27. I would imagine two could eat smaller, simpler lunches for less than $20 though. Somehow a small triangular, shard-like bone found its way to the exit point of my digestive system. Felt a mildly painful, sharp foreign body lodged in the netherworld on an otherwise calming trip to the can. Not fun. My bile tried, and failed at dulling it apparently. After a very awkward bout of spelunking with the assistance of a latex glove, I am now A-OK. No pain, no gain. The meal was still worth it. Will use due caution next time. read more

The most disgusting food ever. Wish I could give ZERO stars. Everyone's order was horrible from strained and watered down soup to shrimp so old, spoiled and over cooked that it was turned inside out. The egg was burnt and rotten. I threw my order right in the trash, I called and was going to take it back up there for refund but after being laughed at on the phone I felt it was best for me not to even get worked up and go in there. It was just okay... got the phó and curry. The phó soup was good but the noodles were kind of rough and not up to par of the phó restaurants in Sterling Heights. The green curry tasted like there was a tad too much fish sauce. Also when asked for chili oil to go was told that "they didn't have it to go" didn't know if that meant it was not available or she didn't want to serve it because they closed right after we put in our order. Regardless it's okay for a to quick go meal but I wouldn't especially go out of my way to eat there. read more

Huge portions!! The beef they used in my vegetable stir fry was delicious and not the cheap fatty kind. Good brown sauce, not too salty at all. today was my first time trying thai chef. i would give a minus one star if i could. just got home and there was grease dripping from the bag of spring rolls (soggy spring rolls) they were inedible. the main course was supposed to have a thick brown sauce and it tuned out to be brown water. i received the wrong type of soup and all the owner could say was ok after i explained how bad the dinner was. absolutely no apology and no mention of a refund or make over! my hunger for thai has disappeared for at least the next 6 months. great way to run a business huh. stay clear of this place. sickened in clinton township. read more

Great food. I tried Sarm Sahai (#31 on the menu) , which is the chicken, beef, shrimp combo with bamboo shoots carrots and pea-pods...and it was delicious...just the right amount of sweet, nicely and lightly seasoned... called it in, and it was ready in less than 10 minutes...served with soup which was light and yummy as well. I don't have much experience with thai food and always order Pad Thai, which my co-worker ordered and she said it was delicious as well...we also order vegetable curry which was just as good. Will definitively go back and be more frequent customer. Worth trying...and prices are really good! Lunch portion was a good size...and more than enough! read more

Best Thai food I've ever had!! Every time I tried Thai food prior to eating here, I never understood what the big deal was about. Then I discovered pad Thai, and I kind of got it. Thai chef has, by far, the best pad Thai! But that's not all. I actually started branching out, and everything I've had here has been wonderful! The vegetable curry is amazing! I've tried it at other places but nothing compares. It's a family run business, and they care about what their customers are receiving. The artwork on the walls is all done by their daughter(she's very good!) I just tried the crab Rangoon as well, and they were, of course, excellent(and inexpensive!) I usually have enough food for 2 meals so it's always well worth it. My only complaint would be that some days medium means Hot, and others it really means medium. But other than that I can't say enough nice things about this place!!! read more

Dropped in after shopping at Golfsmith across the street. Had an approaching tee time so wanted something quick. Was not disappointed. (Just thought of something, would the opposite of disappointed be "I was appointed with the food"...uh guess not, anyway...) Had pad thai and the sauce to my surprise was brown. Different but all good with the result. A bit spicy as I requested. I inquired about the sauce and the chef owner said he likes to experiment a bit instead of always doing what everybody else does. First time visiting this place. I had pad Thai and spring rolls last night and 3 hours later, severe nausea and I started throwing up. Was up all night puking in the toilet. Diarrhea today. Really love this place, not the closest to me, but I always come back. My favorite is the Gang Karee, but the Drunken Noodle and the Pineapple Curry are also amazing. Super easy to get in and out, and they're really fast, never more than 15 minutes, which is helpful when you're hangry. read more

They would get a 5 if the shrimp came without the tail. Before I started eating my shrimp pad thai, I peeled off all the tails and then re-mixed it just to make sure I didn't have to stop and spit any of that out. What really hooked me was the service. I'm disabled (I use a cane) and they packed everything neatly in a box and carried out to my car. Found this spot on the way to work this morning and went back for lunch. Not a busy place but my pad Thai was delicious and the service was prompt. A nice plus was the that the tea cup was actually larger than an espresso cup and they left the pot of tea (for only $1) on the table. Very basic inside - about 7-8 tables to dine in at. read more

The place is clean and the owners are very nice and will prepare your order however you want it (i.e. substitutions allowed). BTW, they also have Pho soup on the menu now. I really don't understand all the low marks... It is a small place and geared for take-out, but it is clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful trying to figure out what you'd like. I have been going here for over two years after having a really bad meal at Bankok Cuisine. From the first day: they walked me through what they made and tried to help me narrow down the best dish for me. Also, they helped me pick out the right level of spiciness which can vary wildly from place to place. Yes, their standard spice level is slightly spicier than most, but if you ask they are more than willing to work with you to get the right level. They are very generous with portion size! I did not like this place at all. The Pad Thai was soaking in brown sauce and was greasy. I ordered mild and my lips were burning. The Pad Cashew had little flavor and the cashews were soggy. I love this place. They staff is always so friendly. And the food is just amazing. SO much flavor. I've been to many thai places, and they do it just right! They have been kind enough to do simple changes to dishes when I've asked and always follow through. The portions are fairly large, which I like, because I can have 2 meals out of it. Well, I am not from the state of Michigan. I just arrived here after a 10 hour drive from PA on November 7th. On the evening of the 7th, I decided to visit this chinese take out restaurant that is located about a 3min drive from my new apartment. My first visit with this restaurant and it was a HUGE disappointment. When I looked at the shrimp fried rice platter I ordered. It appeared so disgusting, I could not even bare to consume any of it. I ended up tossing the entire entree in the garbage. A full $10.60 in the drain, plus I tipped them! I should have known something, when the meal was prepared so quickly...it literally took less than five minutes. But I didn't open my purchase until I got home and as soon as I saw the BURNT rice as if it was cooked in spoiled cooking oil, the dried cucumbers, the spoiled onions and peppers...I didn't even want to bother with digesting any of it. I did not look at any reviews before I visited the restaurant. But now that I noticed that the reviews are from a certain creed of people. Now I understand why I was treated so poorly, because I do not fit that creed. read more
