Okay, so imagine going to this place where they make olive oil, right? But it's not just any place--it's a fun tasting party with olive oil involved. Extra special when you're married to an Italian. They give you these adorable tiny cups, like for dolls, and you get to try ALL of the olive oils and vinegars they have. Seriously, they want you to taste everything! We ended up bringing home this amazing olive oil and a dark chocolate balsamic vinegar that's so good, it's like a dessert in a bottle but I use it for my salads. We could have stayed there forever, just sipping and tasting all day! Make sure you visit this place when in town. read more

Solvang Olive Press - His happy place.. - Olive Oil Near Me - Solvang, California

Service was welcoming and informative. I learned a few new things and was encouraged to try samples and really explore why olive oils like this are such a thing. I enjoyed reading the signs about olive oil being good for your heart, reducing depression, and many other health benefits. I loved everything I tried. I particularly enjoyed the balsamic and oil pairings, with the cinnamon pear and orange combo being a standout one for me. I also really enjoyed the blueberry balsamic. So many good ones! We did end up buying a few. Yummy. read more

There are a handful of words that will unquestionably draw me into your shop: "garlic", "vinegar", and of course, "olives". Solvang Olive Press may only advertise the one, but you'll find all three, in spades, inside this awesome tasting room! I've been to certain tasting rooms where the charge you a fee for some cubes of bread (which you usually get back as a discount off of any bottles you buy), but thankfully, that's not the case here! Grab a few disposable sample cups, and go to town tasting all the wonderful varieties of oils and vinegars scattered throughout this two-pronged salesfloor. They also have olives "in the raw", of course, as well as stuffed, plus pastas, sauces and other home kitchen goodies that make us greenhorn gastronomes giddy with glee! read more

The one thing I'd recommend in solvang if you come all the way here. Although not Dutch, this store specializes in many flavors of olive oil and balsamic vinegar . They very easily offer sample cups, hand wipes, and water and the sales people are very chill/ let you walk around and explore. The store is clean and spacious with lots of variety. They also have nonsweet pickled garlic and olives. For the vinegar, a lot of fruit flavor and i was so surprised that everything had distinct flavors- like i tasted the fig in the fight one and espresso in the other one. The oils were also fragrant and very smooth/not astrigent at all. A sample bottle costs around $19 with full coming to around $35-40. I loved sampling everything and would highly recommend this store! read more

Amazing selection of oils and vinegars- but for me there is only one choice, the maple balsamic vinegar. It's out of this world. It's going to be amazing on ice cream - but I'm thinking it will make a great glaze for carrots or brussel sprouts and also for meats. And salads will also benefit from it's tangy sweetness. I'm so glad they had a giant bottle of it. read more

Oil's Well That Ends Well Nice boutique store located in DT Solvang that sells high-quality extra virgin olive oils, flavored olive oils, vinegars, and other food stuffs. The Good: *Origin and crush date on the oils *Friendly service *Free samples *$30/club membership ($15 yearly renewal) to save 20% on all oils and vinegars. *Online store that ships The Meh: *Prices are about what you'd expect, but at least you're getting a high-quality product out of it. The Ugly: *Parking can always be an issue here in Solvang so be patient. Conclusion: When in Rome do as the Romans, and when in Solvang buying boutique food is the thing to do. read more

Every time I visit Solvang, Solvang Olive Press is a must-stop and not for the olives, surprisingly. I go straight for their flavored maple syrups, especially the smoked maple syrup, which is absolutely next level. I pour it on waffles, drizzle it over bacon, and even use it as a marinade for my BBQ. The depth of flavor adds a unique smoky-sweet touch that you really can't find anywhere else. They also have a holiday syrup with cinnamon and nutmeg that's just as delicious and perfect for the colder months. The shop is in the heart of downtown Solvang with large doors open during the day, giving it a bright and airy feel. The staff is friendly, helpful, and encourages you to try their self-serve samples. It's the kind of place that's both casual and high-quality, making it a fun stop whether you're a foodie or just exploring. If you're in Solvang, do yourself a favor and pick up a bottle (or two). You'll probably be back for more like I am. read more

Thanks Nai Q. for your YELP recommendation of Solvang Olive Press! You were so right, my friend! Amazing selection of olive oils AND vinegars. PLUS so many suggestions of how to pair the choices. Beyond just what to drizzle the combos over, they offer recipes. Some of the vinegars were so light and flavorful that I'm looking forward to combining them with aged alcohols to make some tasty adult libations. Lauren was a huge help in making my selections and also about steering me towards the membership program. Since I was already spending over $120 on multiple bottles of balsamics and oils, the membership made sense. I saved 20% on today's purchase and on future purchases PLUS I received a recipe book! They even include bottle stops with purchases, which is an appreciated touch. I can't wait to start cooking and playing with these new flavors - YUMMMM!!! Cheers! CC read more

Solvang Olive Press - Olive Oil Near Me - Solvang, California

Great find in Solvang! There are over 70 varieties of balsamic vinegar (white and dark) and olive oil for FREE tasting. Of course, after a few tastes, it can get confusing especially with oil. Here are some tips: 1. Before even getting started ask the staff for their own suggestions so you can optimize your visit. 2. The oils are all together on the right and left are the balsamic vinegar. 3. For me for spending this much $ on oil and vinegar, ask yourself if you will use for cooking or as dressing. My opinion, for spending this much, has to be the center/star of the dish to appreciate the taste of either the oil or vinegar. Before tasting, ask yourself what your favorites are anyway so we ended up with the Gravenstein Apple, Lavender and Denissimo balsamic vinegar plus the Harissa olive oil (hard to find in local groceries). 4. I ended up purchasing the lifetime $30 membership to get the discount. it is worth it if you are buying over $100 worth. I calculated and our total (BEFORE deciding to buy the membership) was going to be $135 but with membership I would get 20 percent discount so after doing the math, I paid $133 for the same items and now I have the lifetime membership to use for future purchases either in person or online. And yes, it is hours from me but perfect gifts for friends who have everything and are picky and if ever passing by Solvang - always a good stop to make. read more

One of the best things to do when in Solvang! Especially if you're an olive oil or vinaigrette fan! My aunt got pomegranate vinaigrette and a bottle of chili infused olives for my uncle. My brother in law bought two small tester size bottles of oil and vinaigrette, perfect for anyone who wants to try a variety of flavors! The tester size bottles can be found near the cash register. I bought truffle sea salt, I was going to buy it off a trusted seller on Etsy anyway, so this was wayyy more convenient! (Hurray for instant gratification!) I also bought a bottle of blood orange olive oil which taste absolutely divine on sour dough! A bottle of peach vinaigrette which is heaven when used as a salad dressing over arugula, cherry tomatoes and walnut! I love that they sell pouring nozzles and all the bottles come with cork twist tops! Lauren is very helpful, informative and charming. Carlee helped us check out and she's super sweet and bashful! The only improvement of impact I can imagine is if there was tiny bite size bread or crackers to taste the olive oil and vinaigrette! It's a small town maybe they can make a deal with a local bakery, it would add to the small town feel! I can imagine that feeling like a liability though so maybe just start with high quality non salted crackers cut into small bite size pieces! I saw a number of people walk in, pour oil into taster cups, and take it back to the throat like it's a shot! (Idk why anyone would do that), but even the people taking a sip made weird faces and walked out! Pshh, I learn from other peoples mistakes, I poured a small DOT in my taster cup and pretty much dipped my finger in it to try the flavors. read more

I've never had so much fun tasting olive oils and vinegars! The shop is beautiful, the aisles are spacious, and samples are plentiful. What I especially liked was that they have a table where they combine oil and vinegar combinations they think would be popular, and allow you to taste them together, as well. And they offer recommendations for protein pairings (like salmon or chicken). Service was excellent. Attentive and helpful, but not in your face. read more

I heard of wine tasting but olive oil tasting? What an experience. AMBIANCE: Feels: The location is in the festivities of the town of Solvang. The town is charming with its music, art, and delicious delights. The place itself is more up-to-date. It is a well lit and relatively clean place that's organized well with oils on one side and balsamic vinegars on the other. There are over 30+ flavors EACH of Balsamic Vinegers and Olive Oils. Where to begin! FOOD: Olive Oils (Recommend) I tried a few and it was quite an experience. All were thick and had a subtle yet distinct hint of a mixed desired ingredient. The ones that stood out to me were the truffles (both black and white) and the lime. Balsamic Vinegars (Recommend) A pleasant vinegar sting blessed with unique flavors. Some that stood out to me were the pomegranate and the lemongrass flavors. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Awesome! Great people who assisted us with questions. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Fantastic! This was a pleasant and unique experience coming to Solvang. I may walk away empty-handed but I'm glad to know of this store, I certainly foresee myself placing orders for myself or my loved ones! TIPS: * Check out their website for new flavors or seasonal deals! read more

If you love free tastings, then you will love this place! The Olive Press had two areas, one for the olive oils, one for balsamic tastings. They also had a section with pairings. They had tasting cups and wipes. It felt like a really clean place so we started tasting different olive oils and balsamic vinegars. Everything I tasted was so delicious! My personal favorite is the strawberry and espresso one. It very flavorful and so a little will go a long way. Service was really nice! My husband and I stumbled upon this charming store during a spontaneous weekend getaway, and it turned out to be a highlight of our trip. Although I hadn't planned on buying olive oil that day, we left with a bottle of exquisite truffle oil and even signed up for a membership. The staff's friendliness and the store's beautiful presentation made our visit truly enjoyable. We appreciated the opportunity to taste different oils without any sales pressure, and the customer service was exceptional, especially when I decided to upgrade to a larger bottle at the last minute. I recently ordered a gift from them, and even my UPS delivery person commented that the package must be some great olive oil in the package. What an amazing experience!!! Who knew olive oil tasting was a thing - because I would've never guessed. I had marked this location to visit even though while we were visiting other wineries we were told of other oil places to check out. However I was adamant about going to this specific location and I was so happy that we did. You walk in to several bottled tastings available and as you leisure around you are more than welcome to try as little or as many as you wish. There was pairing with Olive oil and a balsamic vinegar to try separately or together. Also instructions on how to mix your Olive oil and balsamic. Not to mention that they have 3 different bottle sizes which make it perfect to buy as gifts, Then I noticed tasters are available on the counter as you pay, so now that's 4 different bottle sizes that you can buy. It ended up being perfect because there was one that I didn't care for as much as another and we were able to buy tasters for my SO as we both really liked the 1 pair that we ended up buying. If you are in the area definitely check out this place as the experience and ambience is nothing I've ever experienced before, the lady (owner) was very informative and helpful. While we did not try everything would definitely come back to buy more. read more

The people working there were present, but not pushy, which I definitely appreciate. We ended up getting 2 fruity flavors of balsamic, but also loved the literally all of the other flavors. The espresso and lavender were amazing. We also got 2 olive oils. I really appreciate the ability to sample everything at our leisure. It's so much more of an interactive experience, which is so much more fun. I also appreciate that they had water and hand wipes. We're definitely (as in, 100%) going back next time.
