Love love SoLou. Their courtyard transports you from Baton Rouge. It is so nice and relaxing, like an oasis. The burger is rich but amazing and has to be one of my favorites I've ever had. Our experience at SoLou was decent. My husband and I had reservations on a Saturday at 7 pm. We were seated at a small table for 2 in the bar area, which felt a little tight and squeezed in. The noise level was quite high, so I wouldn't recommend it for a date night, but it's more suitable for a family and friends outing. Unfortunately, our waiter forgot to bring us water, and we're pretty sure he just plain forgot about us after we received our entrees. However, he was a nice guy. As for the food and drinks, our cocktails were tasty, the Crabmeat Cheesecake was okay, the truffle fries were good but lukewarm, and we enjoyed the ribs. read more

My friends and I came here for brunch. The restaurant is super cute, and the staff are friendly. I love a good mimosa, and the food was pretty good overall. The only complaint my friends and I had was that the eggs seemed like they were made from powdered eggs. The food was absolutely delicious! Started out with some blackberries margarita, absolutely recommend. I hadn't been to SoLou in about 2-3 years and went back today looking for the spinach dip. Even though it wasn't on the menu, we ordered the crab dip and it was delightful. I ordered the chili glazed salmon and i don't love Brussel sprouts but everything was so good. The salmon was cooked to perfection and seasoning was on point! We ended the night with some cheesecake that had pecans, mouthwatering! The entire time the waitress was asking if we needed anything else, super sweet and suggested us plates to try. The ambiance was good, not many people since it was 7pm on a Monday night. I am personally not a fan of the candied bacon jam it tasted like the fake bacon pieces. The cheese wasn't melted and I ended up sending it back to the kitchen. I believe they took it off my order bc I only had one bite. I appreciated that greatly. I got corn and crab bisque instead of the tomato soup and I wish I would've gotten the tomato soup but the bisque was ok. The shrimp and grits plate also needed a little work the grits were hard and bland. My fiancée did not eat but four bites. The brownie was a little hard but it was okay The s'mores were pretty good and I believe those were homemade marshmallows. I will say this about Solou - their appetizers and happy hour are incredible. The service for me has been hit or miss (specifically during brunch and dinner service) but during happy hour this time and nearly every time I've been, the wait staff has been lights out - attentive, quick with recommendations, and patient with our intentions to drink a lot of wine prior to eating anything. My favorites on the food menu are the Crab Dip with its creamy luxuriousness and a crispy buttered toast for dipping, the Shrimp Corn Dogs (a mandatory order anytime I walk in the door), and the Zydeco Cauliflower (think flash fried cauliflower with a sweet and sour sauce on top). We found out this visit that they've expanded their happy hour to include ALL wines by the glass on the menu. This is wines at ANY price point - as long as they sell it by the glass. Their happy hour is only from 4-6 Monday-Friday so I highly recommend you hitting this up! read more

Yesterday had a chance to visit this restaurant, my rating for this restaurant would be 3.5 but I do not have that option. We started off with the drinks (and had starters (shrimp corn dogs and zydeco cauliflower) these were very tasty and then had our main dish (solou burger, bbq shrimp pasta, fish tacos and chili grilled salmon) in these I loved bbq shrimp pasta and salmon, but few more shrimps in pasta would be better and the other 2 were okayish...Finally ended with a cotton candy which was very yummy. Coming to the drawbacks I felt the service of little late and ambience is pretty average, you don't feel anything noticeable or new. But you should ho and try this place for sure!! read more

Flies, everywhere. Food was okay, but its hard to enjoy a meal when you are constantly being bothered by fruit flies and house flies. Hostess brought over a bug spinny fan thing, which was a welcomed service/gesture but absolutely had no effect on the flies. I smooshed atleast 9 fruit flies to no avail. We sparked up a conversation about how busy the restaurant was tonight. They were amazing. Super kind and attentive. Got us seated as soon as they could and even cleaned the tables off for us. They were running around on a busy night doing more than hosts should (From personal experience working as a server) They were great. Then, our server Abram was even more amazing. I have to boast about SoLou once again! After coming back a few times since my last review, I've had great eats, great service, and even better memories! My last trip was truly a delight as we had the hot chicken hummus and truffle fries for appetizers. I tried the chicken and waffles for my entree. The chicken was mistakenly not sent out the first time, and the chef himself came out to apologize! It's truly the little efforts that make a night more special. I needed some me time I decided to grab some dinner and catch happy hour. Kiyah was my bartender/server she was really nice. My happy hour drink (strawberry hill) was amazing! I needed 2-3 more. For my appetizer I have the zydeco cauliflower. The cauliflower itself was good. However, it was way too much aioli....it was drenched which made it a little soggy. Then we moved on to a charcuterie board of basically just meat. Once again I personally wasn't wild about it. However the person I was with was obsessed with it! I ended up getting the ahi tuna *more my style. And I absolutely love it. I love when they put it on a salt block. I then got the cauliflower app. Hands down best cauliflower I've ever had. I dipped the tuna in the hot sauce that was on the place and it was *chefs kiss* Then the ending was cheesecake. When I say this was the best cheesecake I've ever had...I literally will crave this weekly. It was smooth & creamy. There was fresh blueberries on top. I just wish there was more of it! I had to come see what all the hype is about and I was pleasantly pleased. We did make reservations a week early and so glad we did. The people behind us did not have a reservation and were quoted a 2-3 hr wait time for 2 on a Friday. So with that said this place is popular and book it before you walk in on a weekend. This place was really cute. They famous swings from the previous place is gone and it's more updated and setting the vibe. I absolutely loved the chairs they had for the smaller tables. On to the food, we got the alligator sausage hotdog entree and the rib entree with the shrimp corn dog for an app. I would really like a lifetime supply of those shrimp corn dogs. I don't eat corn dogs but of course it was shrimp in lieu of a hot dog in the batter and it was perfect together. The ribs were so tender and good and hubs liked his entree as well minus the mango green sauce I believe it was but our waitress recommended it on the side for that reason. Also thank you very much to the waitress who had no issue with me craft my hurricane with a different ingredient with no issue and the bartender. It was really good and the frozen drink was as well.
