I have a love-hate relationship with [solidcore]. I've been going for a little over a year and it hasn't gotten any easier. Hands down, this is one of the toughest workouts I've ever done and I'm pretty sure I've shed a couple of tears during class. I've never done a workout that made my whole body shake and sore in places that I never thought were possible. [solidcore] continues to kick my butt every time but I absolutely love how accomplished I feel afterwards. Despite how difficult it is, I continue to come regularly because it's amazing to watch yourself get stronger and get in that extra rep or hold that lunge for just a little bit longer before you take that break. The Mosaic coaches are WONDERFUL especially Ralph, Calla and Kelly! They know exactly how to motivate you to keep going, inspire you to push yourself and continuously encourage you throughout class to get in that last rep. If you've been thinking of trying [solidcore], my vote is to give it a shot. Yes, your muscles will shake like no other and yes, it's going to be a challenge but you'll be amazed at the results you'll see in just a short amount of time! read more

I have been taking classes at Solidcore for more than a month now, in addition to my weight training routine. I would have to say I LOVE it so much! I also love the environment in the studio; it gives energetic vibes. Plus, my favorite instructor, Calla, will always push, encourage, and torture you. She will make sure that you will get the best workout and feel the burnnnnn. Lastly, I would highly recommend Solidcore for those who look for an intense exercise, trust me, you will love it as much as I do. read more

I Love this NEW FITNESS TREND! SOLIDCORE is a FITNESS REVOLUTION within itself. CHANGE is inforced by ACTIONS, actions build CULTURE, culture is the backbone to a COMMUNITY, and YOU are the Community. In just 50 minutes you target the ENTIRE body with a HIGH-INTENSITY, LOW-IMPACT WORKOUT. Pushing core/ fast-twitch muscles to the point of failure in-order to create the STRONGEST VERSION OF YOURSELF. After taking my first class, I was already hooked! I was nothing but inspired by the muscle twitching I was experiencing after my VERY FIRST CLASS! I took class under JEFF GOLDSTEIN, whom is AWESOME. Between the music, his words, and his pressure, He keeps you upbeat, motivated and inspired on yourself / with your practice, inside and out of the studio. Take the DARE and the TRUTH will be revield BELMONT CHASE SOLIDCORE 2016 - COMING SOON. I Can not wait! read more

This is THE WORST workout course I have ever tried to take, and I frequently try new classes. The instructor was beyond rude, not once greeting me, and at one point telling me not to adjust my machine (with its wiggly unstable bars) because "transitions are fast here". Funny how the pace of your class matters more than potential injury of your clients? After she told me this (over the mike, loudly and aggressively) and brushed my hand away from the adjuster, I left. I signed up through class pass and was two minutes late (meaning I was 13 min BEFORE the start of my 6:40PM class) because I spent a good two minutes trying to get their ridiculous door unlocked (which you're supposed to be texted the code??? Never received a text, and no receptionist to help out). That being said, the people around me even appeared to struggle to follow along with the instructor (as she is not doing the moves with you/demonstrating, there isn't room for that in the tiny studio). I am livid that I wasted money on this. read more

My favorite place to work out. Challenges you physically and mentally, fast results! amazing coaches and awesome atmosphere! Calla rocks and so do all of the other coaches! Definitely recommend solidcore! read more

I took this class a year ago and never came back because of how much I wanted to cry afterwards. If you haven't taken the class before, you will shortly figure it out after your first class. HOWEVER, I decided to take the class again and I won't say I love it, but it's a great workout that allows you to notice results relatively quick. The "no love" factor is only because of the mind prep I must undertake before walking through the infamous solidcore doors. It is seriously a wonderful burn aka you will never walk out of the class unsatisfied. Calla and Kelly are my favorite. These wonderful ladies are awesome and really inspire you to get in that "last rep" or maybe come over to kindly give you heavier weights because they know you are just taking it easy on yourself ;) (Calla!). read more

All I can say is wow! I consider myself a fairly strong athlete, and someone who engages in some sort of fitness activity nearly every day, and I have not been genuinely I-need-a-day-off sore from a work out in a while- but Solidcore took me to that place. All of the workouts are done on mega reformers which can be intimidating if you have never used one before, but my coach showed me how to do every move properly and how to set up the reformer appropriately. This ensured I was doing the motions correctly and also so that no injuries occurred. Also the classes are small which is great as it allows for a lot of one on one time to augment form and get the most out of your workout. The studio itself looks very cool, and has mirrors in front of you as to better correct your form. It is also very clean which is a major plus. The coaches are very motivating and upbeat. This is great since you are really pushing your muscles like you would not believe. The work out is one of the best I have ever had, and I just can't stress that enough. I have done isometric classes, pilates, competitive swimming, multiple barre classes, pole fitness, almost every spin franchcise in the NoVA/DC area, and nothing has come close to how Solidcore worked me out. My only critique would be that so many boutique/small studios are linked in with ClassPass and Solidcore was not to my dismay. read more

Monetized Punishment This rating is a down rating from a five to a two for unreasonable corporate policy on the length of time you have to use your classes. 30 days is not enough time to use your pre-purchased classes. It should really be advertised as: "STOP! If you don't use your pre-purchased packet of classes we will charge you more money to buy back the unused services you have already paid for. And its only for an additional $15 for each unused class, because we are a boutique studio." Classes were fun and great, and the instructors are awesome, but disappointing customer service. read more

Many of these reviews are from athletes and fitness fanatics who describe [solidcore] as a humbling experience. I don't fit that description, which is one of the reasons why I decided to chime in here. The story we tell about who we are is so important to both our self-perception and the way others perceive us. My story is that I'm the least athletic person you'll ever come across. A former fat kid with little to no coordination, I never played a team sport and was picked last in gym no matter what the activity. My adult outsides don't match this story, but that doesn't make it less a part of me. I heard about [solidcore], and it simultaneously intrigued and scared the heck out of me. It sounded like something I would enjoy, since I love strength training and liked the idea that you're the only one on your machine and, in that sense, it's really all up to you. But you only need to read a handful of reviews to grasp that it's hard. Really hard. Even if you're strong and athletic. Which, as I said above, are not terms that I've ever applied to myself. I stalked [solidcore] for awhile, checking out the schedule online, reading reviews, and generally kicking around the idea of going. And then one day I took the plunge. Caitlin walked me through my first class in the kindest, most helpful way. It was difficult, but I didn't die. I signed up for another class. And another. For me, it comes down to this: when I finish a [solidcore] class, I feel invincible. I feel like an athlete. I feel strong. And those aren't things I've ever felt before. So while it's tough and (so very) expensive, it's worth it. [Solidcore] changed my story. Maybe it could change yours, too. read more

Always a great workout and you never plateau! I originally started going to solidcore last May after getting over a torn achilles and needed to find a workout that was low impact - low and behold almost a year later and close to 100 classes under my belt, I am ADDICTED! Mary Kline's class is a MUST!!! She is super encouraging (not in a cheesy way) and makes you WORK!!! She will adjust weights and resistance for everyone in class and makes seamless transitions easy between squat splits and oblique crunches. I am obsessed with her ARMS & ABS class. She rocks she rocks she rocks!!! read more

Where to start. 2 years ago, Solidcore opened in the Mosaic District and my wife and I were looking for something different that we could do together so we tried it. After the first class with Keyana, I was sore for 6 days...and after the second class, 2 days...after that, it has been a steady progression into a "solid core" but not just core...legs, arms, chest, back...they are all pushed to the limit in each 50 minute session. The Mosaic has a long line of great coaches to keep you motivated and working hard. After over 250 classes, I get as good (if not better) of a workout now than i did when i first started, it's always challenging and fun. The studio is adjacent to Luther Jackson Middle School and parking is abundant and free. If I had to say one negative it would be the cost. if you are taking only single classes, they can be upwards of $30/class, still cheaper than a personal trainer, but much more expensive than joining a gym. If that doesn't scare you off, give it a try. They offer a variety of membership and plan options and often have specials and challenges to make it more interesting and cost efficient. I love it. It was just what i needed at this time of my life. read more

I don't know why it's taken me so long to review since I started going to solidcore almost a year ago. I'm an avid runner/marathoner and am always training for some marathon or another. Despite my love for running I've never really loved doing any other type of exercise or cross training--which, despite running 50-60 miles a week left my body weak and had me in and out of physical therapy with various minor injuries that were major enough to keep me from running at times. I tried solidcore and was instantly addicted. This workout is so HARD, every single class. I went in thinking I was in shape because I could run a marathon, but this showed me otherwise. It's a hard workout but really really effective. I have not been to PT in a year (so even though solidcore is not cheap I'm going to say it's maybe saved me $$) AND I have PRed in every single distance (Full marathon, Half, 10 miler, 5k) since starting solidcore. Solidcore has made me physically stronger as well as mentally. I've learned how to jump on the pain train while I'm racing and ride it to the end. In addition to the workout being well worth the 50 minutes you spend at the studio it's also a great community. The coaches are so warm, friendly, and encouraging- whether you are new or experienced at solidcore- and class participants are also very nice and friendly. I've attended many classes at both the Ballston and Mosaic studios and they are both great. I really can't recommend this workout enough and people who know me know that I'm addicted. My only minor complaint is that sometimes the studios are way too hot...I understand it's good to keep your muscles warm but sometimes I think I could push harder if I wasn't so hot. read more

I consider myself an athlete and I workout on a regular basis but I had no idea what Solidcore had in store for me! This is truly the most intense and challenging workout I have ever done. I really love it because it is nothing like anything I have ever done before. I am a hairstylist so it is important for me to have a good posture and a strong core. I have noticed a tremendous difference in how my body feels with strengthening the muscles I never knew I had! Kelly is such a great coach, she is encouraging and pushes you at the same time! Everyone is friendly when you walk in, the space is very clean and the location is great(free parking)! I highly recommend everyone to try it out! read more

I wanted to update my initial review since Mosaic has become my "home" studio. I couldn't be happier. This studio & the coaches are awesome! I come to class 2-3 days a week & have never left disappointed. Every single class kicks my butt in the best way. Specifically Calla, Brooke & Ralph. These people are amazing motivators who think of some torturous moves for class. I leave every class shaking. Kelly, the studio manager, has been so helpful. She always answers emails promptly. I know some people have commented on the price. I agree it is expensive, however they often have specials! The specials are shared via Facebook or email and they are really great to take advantage of. I'm obsessed with [solidcore] overall, but this studio is special. read more

Took a class my first class with Tara who was so encouraging and made me feel like a warrior on the megaformer even though I was sure I looked nothing like that! I workout religiously and have never experienced such an intense and rewarding workout! It was amazing! The studio is beautiful, again Tara was everything and more that you'd want an instructor to be and I left feeling strong, confident and beautiful! I will be back for more! And as far as pricing goes...... I am absolutely willing to pay for top notch, small group training such as solidcore. It is clear that this workout will get me to my fitness goals which is worth every penny! read more

This is the perfect low impact/strength workout for ALL fitness levels with tons of modification options! I've been going to this location for 6 months now and each staff member is beyond nice, motivating, and accommodating. You can always count on having a good (fun) experience at [solidcore] mosaic! read more

I was hesitant to try this workout at first because I am a hardcore cardio person- I am so glad I finally worked up the courage to try it! The coaches are all so welcoming, motivating, and super helpful in showing newbies proper form. I have now incorporated this into my regular workout routine and the results are truly amazing! This is definitely the strongest I've ever been! Definitely do yourself a favor and give this class a try - you won't regret it! read more

I love [solidcore] and the coaches! It has been a life (and body) changing experience for me! I'm in my 30s now, so maintaining and losing weight is more difficult than it once was. The workout is intense but goes by super quickly. The prompts and cues get easier each visit, but the workout remains consistently tough. The music playing (along with the coach's instruction) keeps your brain occupied and keeps the energy up. I noticed changes immediately, and it has kept me hooked! I've gone to multiple locations around the DC and Atlanta areas, and they have all been consistently awesome. :) read more

By far my favorite fitness boutique to work out with! I've been going here the last 6 months. Go 2-3 times a week and you'll see and feel the results fast af. I personally prefer the mosaic studio because the coaches here are so personal with their clients! They encourage you so much and will correct you on your form. It is a bit expensive but the results are worth every penny! read more

I was never someone who was big fan of group classes until I started going to solidcore. If you are someone who is looking for an intense workout class that is a change of pace from your regular workouts or if you need a low impact workout due to past injuries I would highly recommend trying it out. I have gone to multiple instructors and have had a great experience every time, but if you are looking to really feel the shakes and get your butt kicked make sure to try a Calla class! read more

I absolutely have become addicted to Solidcore and the Mosaic studio is just superb. The coaches are challenging, but also funny, fabulous, warm people. Every class tests my limits and, since I've been doing this workout (started in June 2015), I've seen changes in my body that I've been working in FOR YEARS with little to no result. This workout is an excellent compliment to running and other endurance sports. In fact, I'm going there now. Come and try it! read more

I first decided to try this studio a couple months ago with ClassPass. I was SO sore after the first workout and loved the studio so much I decided to take advantage of the unlimited monthly membership special they were running at the time. I took several classes with different instructors, ALL of which were good and challenging in different ways. Only several weeks after I purchased a membership I sustained a bad injury that prevented me from working out at all. I contacted the studio and Tyler (the assistant manager) immediately responded saying they would be happy to freeze my membership for as long as I need. She was SO nice and accommodating. I have belonged to other studios (yoga, boxing) and I have NEVER heard of a studio freezing your membership for as long as needed, even in case of injury! They usually make you cancel or just pay, even though you are not using your membership. I think that says a lot about this studio. The fact they have amazing customer service is reason enough to come, but if you do, be prepared to leave feeling sore and strong as ever! read more

Oh my Gosh! Cannot rave about [solidcore] enough. It's my FAVORITE workout. Tyler is the manager of this location and she is phenomenal. Lauren S. And Kat are incredible instructors. I go here 1-2 times a week and I'm so happy with the workout every time. Can't walk for a couple days after (jk) read more

I love Solidcore! I'm so happy they have this studio closer to my home, so I can go more often now. I love its next to SPARK Yoga and Xsport. I can always switch up my workout since everything is so close together. So the thing about SolidCore is, you will always get a wonderful workout regardless of your fitness level. I know friends who go regularly and they still sweat and get a kickass workout. If you need a different type of workout, I definitely recommend this place. read more

Love this place!!! The instructors are AMAZING. Its 50 minutes of the most challenging workout ever without any breaks. Feel the shakes, you are working hard and I just keep coming back for more...I guess the best way to say it is--the time goes by quickly and the burn/shakes are intense and you feel so accomplished when you are done! read more

As I'm writing this review, I think it's imperative you understand how sore I am.. and how much I LOVE this feeling.. [AMAZING] workout!! Also keep in mind, today was only, I think, the 4th time I've attended a Solidcore class and every experience has been so rewarding physically, mentally, and emotionally. I consistenly workout 5x a week and arguably this may be the only workout I dread just as much as I enjoy. My husband works out a ton; he's in such great shape, and although he was skeptical about attending his first Solidcore class originally saying "it can't be that bad", he quickly swallowed his words even during the first plank warmup. The class setting is warm, intimate, trendy, and motivating- I particularly appreciate the words/inspirational quotes all over the walls. Playlists for all the instructors I have had thus far are so dope, even though at times I'm unable to pay attention to the music because I am trying to get my muscles to stop shaking so much. Ralph H. Kelly M., and Anna W. are my favorite coaches so far - so motivating, so challeging, so much energy, and so sweet. I have been to many stuck up workout classes before, but this is a no judgment zone. [GREAT] job guys... I will definitely keep coming back! read more

I began taking [solidcore] classes last fall and have loved every class I've taken! The workout is challenging regardless of your fitness level - but their amazing coaches ensure you get the most out of each and every workout. There's a coach to fit every workout personality! I highly recommend Calla at the mosaic location - her sequences are guaranteed to push you to your limits and get you results...her classes are fun, encouraging, and high energy and those 50 minutes are over before you know it! read more

This review is for CALLA (tho solidcore in general is a dope workout). First off, solidcore costs some serious $$$, it just does. So for what I'm paying I want to be DEAD. I want my workout to bring me to the brink of dying, only I don't, so I can come back the next day and feel like a rockstar. That is Calla. She's super motivating, and won't let you give up. She's not taking any of your crap or excuses and I find that I push myself that extra rep more in her class than in anyone else's. I love the class environment she fosters. Everyone is feeling challenged but yet there are smiles and laughs interspersed (breaks up the "are you f***ing kidding me, another hold?!" groans lol ). You can tell that she's not just making it hard to punish you, she really wants to see you succeed and change, and that's why she doesn't care if YOU think you can't when she KNOWS you can. Shes da best. read more

Best.Workout.Ever. There is never an "easy" class and it's always challenging my body. I have not been this strong since my younger years as a competitive gymnast. I've been going to Solidcore since its opening in May and will forever be a faithful customer. The coaches are all amazing, but Keyana's classes make me [shake] for hours after the class. read more

I really can't say enough good things about [solidcore]. You will see a lot of great reviews on the workout and how effective it is. And it is! It is the hardest (and best) 50 minutes of your life. But the real draw is the community it cultivates. All of the coaches are so encouraging and really push you past where you think your limits are. The feeling you get after class is addicting and explains why there are so many devotees. Keyana is an amazing coach. She's super positive and a great motivator. Perfect for those classes before the sun comes up. read more

Solidcore is one of the best workouts that I have ever and it pushes you to your max. I am pretty athletic and workout 6 days a week, but this takes your workout to a whole new level. It is a very unique and difficult workout and never allows your body to plateau. The coaches are very motivating and want to see you succeed! I have taken classes both with Calla and Mary(arms and abs) and they are both amazing. I would definitely recommend solidcore to anyone who wants to switch up their workout routine and get their butt kicked into shape! read more

The quality has gone down. They're opening studios so fast and spitting out new coaches very fast. Some coaches rush the second half/side of class which is frustrating to not get an even workout. Even though my initial impression of solidcore made me fall in love, I don't love the community or workout anymore. It's boring, there's no progress, you just show up to a random series of exercises on a mega former, and I've felt un welcomed and judged by members, many times during the high fives the coaches encourage at the end of class people have ignored me. This is something done at the end of every class, and it's an awkward feeling when people avoid it. I do recommend people give it a try because it challenges your body in a new way. But it is a little overrated and way too expensive. The new coaches barely take any time to correct form even though the classes are small. read more

Love this place! Coaches here understand the body and make you push yourself to your full potential even when you want to give up. It's a great community. The coaches are amazing! After 2 years I still feel every class and can see my body changing. I highly recommend this workout. read more

Coach quality is really going downhill. These classes are too expensive to have subpar coaches.

I really liked the workout at SolidCore. Low impact stretch & hold moves made my muscles scream..me too! Completely sweating by the end and felt marvelous too; like a deep muscle message. Two days later I felt it; especially my core. Used my 2 for $25 and will be back; on off-peak of course. My 3 stars is for cost; I might go once a month. They should offer a free off-peak every 2 off-peak you take; it would entice me to come more regularly. Shout out to Hilary! Tara was good too. Loud microphone made it difficult to hear the moves, but Hilary would demonstrate and cue ahead of time. Off-peak classes have lower numbers so instructor can work with you on form or to push you out of your comfort zone. I was less sore the 2nd class which I took 9 days later. 3 Stars also given for discount offers only 48-hours after 1st class. This is way too short of time to realize you want to go back. The first 2 days you are talking about how sore and awesome the class was to your friends. By the time you want to go back on-line to see about going again your lost your chance to a discount. But it is addictive as people have written. It has been 8 days and I want to go again. Better start saving my $$. read more

My girlfriend Alexis K is a major fan of this workout regimen. Proof of that is she's the duchess of this place. From day one she persuaded me to go with her and I always found an excuse to get out of it. However soon I ran out of excuses so I threw in the towel and decided to give it a shot. I got the 2 classes for $25. My first class I showed up 15 minutes earlier to get a quick tutorial of the machine. Mary, my instructor was very nice and did not push me too hard to the point of me feeling like I was going to fall off the machine from exhaustion. I am a pretty fit person who goes to the gym regularly but this workout was very tough. It was very different from what I typically do at the gym (strength conditioning). After the workout I was sore for 3 days afterwards. Both times I worked out at solidcore I would leave feeling like I was physically punished. I joked with my girlfriend saying their name should be solidtorture. With that being said I highly recommend this place. It's different and they never repeat the same workout so your body never knows what to anticipate. One small con is the price, as others have said in their reviews it's pretty pricey but there are plenty of loyal followers so I am sure people are seeing the results they want! read more

I have been attending SolidCore 2x/wk x6 weeks and I can't say enough positive things about this workout! I normally exercise 6 days a week which consists of Cycle/HIIT and strength training. I have lumbar spine/disk issues so my core strength is cruddy and has been limiting my abilities as an athlete in general. I went with a friend and 7 minutes in to my first class I wondered how on EARTH anyone would ever come BACK for the torture?! I took breaks and felt victorious to have survived and within 60 minutes I was already plotting my return. 6 weeks later: lower back pain virtually disappeared (I have lumbar disk injuries), significant increase in global strength, all clothes fit better, improved muscle definition. This training is different than anything my body is used to and uniquely isolates muscles like no other workout. I appreciate that I can "stay in the work" longer (without taking a break) with every passing week. Success! Hillary was my first and still a favorite, Tara and Mary both awesome too! Every instructor brings their own strengths to coach you through the workout. I know it is expensive but I am willing to pay for QUALITY training like this and it is definitely cheaper (with better results for me) than a personal trainer. read more

This workout is worth every penny. I absolutely love the early 5am classes with Keyana and walk out of solidcore drenched in sweat, feeling great and ready to continue with the rest of my day. The workouts never get easier and are always modified to the individual to push them to their max. Studios are always clean and prepared for classes. Can't say enough positive things about all the instructors who are always thrilled to have people in class and push you to your limits and beyond. I'm addicted and can already feel such a positive impact on my overall health. Thank you solidcore! read more

LOVING IT! I am a beginner with 3 classes under my belt and really enjoying it. I am 50, almost 51 (Shhhh), and found this to be exactly what I was looking for with a strong focus on my core but with some attention to my upper body. Even though some moves are repeated, there is a great deal of variety from class to class which keeps me from getting bored. The instructors are fun, knowledgeable, and personable. I have to admit that my obliques are not enjoying it as much as I am. Definitely try it out. I would recommend more than once since it does take a class or two to figure out the machine. ENJOY! read more

I am a HUGE fan of group fitness - having a support system is the only thing that motivates me to go to the gym. That being said, I LOVE [solidcore]. There are classes throughout the day that work with my schedule - early morning and evening available. The coaches are amazing. They make an effort to have a personal relationship with you and push you through your the workout. Although the workout is really hard, it's much softer on your body than other group fitness formats I've done. The price can be a negative, but if you buy on a promo it's comparable to other fitness programs in the area. I strongly recommend you give it a shot! read more
