Great instructors. People who go are very welcoming. Easily the nicest workout group I've been around. No snootiness at all. The workout is amazing. You will feel it days later. They are expensive, and they will call, email, and text to get you to sign up after your initial free class. A lot. Very few classes are offered. If you get the unlimited membership, you will soon find the small number of classes fill quickly. This makes the unlimited membership useless. I've been coming to Pure Barre for three years and it's the best part of my routine! The instructors are awesome--they know their stuff, cheer you on by name, and give great modifications (they even kept me moving through pregnancy!). The vibe is super welcoming, not cliquey at all, and you'll see all ages, sizes, and body types in class. It's the first workout I've ever stuck with for more than six months, and the classes + music keep me motivated. Pro tip: early mornings usually have plenty of room, and try each format a few times--you'll get more out of it once you learn the movements. Pure Barre is such a great workout for strength, stability, and overall fitness. For me, I don't count this as my cardio. My heart rate gets up, but not consistently in the cardio range so this is a supplement to my cardio. read more

I do hot yoga, Orange Theory and many other types of workouts but always come back to barre because it's a great, low impact workout that gives you amazing results. I came here for a free community event. I think it is great that Pure Barre is allowing the community to try out a class for free. I booked the class online a day or two before and it said that I was on the waiting list. I got an email the day of the event saying I was in. I showed up about 10 minutes early. I was able to check in and also was required to sign some paperwork. It was just simple information like emergency contact, my contact information, and also responsibly paperwork. The class was full and the instructor was in the front of the room. She would go around after showing the move to correct people's form. I appreciate this since sometimes we couldn't see her demo the move based upon where you were at in the room. I have done one other barre class before at another location and thought it was just okay. I hate mirrors (body image issues) and you have to look at the mirrors to constantly check your form. I thought this studio lagged in-between each area of concentration. For example you start with the warm up, move to arms, thighs, butt, abs and cool down. This may have been because this was a newbies class. I just think since I do Muay Thai and other MMA activities that this wasn't the type of class for me. I can see the benefit because it can sculpt areas of your body and work muscles you didn't even know exists. read more

This location has a great following of customers and it is due to the spirited instructors. The space itself is small from the perspective of a reception area and changing area, but the carpeted studio can easily hold 30 students. The owner taught the class I attended and was phenomenal. She worked the packed room correcting form, demonstrating the movements and controlling the music. She had at least two other instructors in the room with us and they assisted with bringing out mats, putting away weights and delivering cleaning wipes. For as many people packed in the room, it was nice to have everything run so smoothly. Like other Pure Barre locations, this franchise has a "store" section with a variety of Pure Barre clothing as well as Alo and other brands. Parking is tight at this location. I overheard there are additional parking spots in the nearby Magruder's Grocery lot (now a closed business). My first time I parked in the neighboring business lot and was thankfully not towed. The other negative with parking has to do with the lot being very "dimly lit" which in the suburbs near the W&OD trail can feel a little scary to us accustomed to more urban foot traffic and bright lights. read more

VA Friends - Please know, I'm not a lawyer. I just work with contractual agreements in a business setting on a regular basis. I'm sharing my experience with you all in hopes that this helps others recognize their own contractual agreements with your studios/gyms. Please do not let anyone pressure you into paying fees you aren't obligated to pay! I kept my membership active with Pure Barre - Vienna studio up until now knowing that many small, private studios are probably struggling during COVID even though the studio was no longer local to me during WFH. They offered online, live classes to keep things going, but the experience is a bit different without hands-on instruction. When I went to cancel last month, they charged me an additional month after I sent my cancellation email saying that the studio has a policy that cancellation doesn't start until all of the paperwork is officially signed and returned to them. When I checked my actual contract I signed a year ago, this was not stated anywhere. It only stated you needed to give them a written notice. I pushed back and was told the same thing again. I asked to speak to their owner via email with no response in 5 days. I finally called in and was told "If you would have gotten your paperwork in the day I emailed it to you, we could've worked something out" by the studio manager. Mind you, the day she emailed me was 5 days after I sent her an initial note to cancel. Apparently, my tardiness is not forgiven, but hers is. Talk about customer service! After a week of pushing back and calling them to get an answer, all I got was an offer to "give you 1 more month free". After reiterating I don't live near the studio anymore, I got a refund. As a note, I've had nothing but positive experiences there with all of the instructors - they are amazing! Sad to say my experience with the studio manager though is enough to not go to any PB studio under this ownership in the DMV area. read more

I started at Pure Barre Vienna right after the New Year. I was off work for a week so I figured it would be a good time to try the "$100 for unlimited classes for new students" option to see how I'd like it, try out different instructors, etc. I've taken 4 classes and a "breaking down the barre" workshop and I am really enjoying it. I'm also noticing that I am sitting up straighter and my flexibility has already increased. Breaking down the barre was incredibly useful. I also like how the instructors will walk around to correct your form. I've taken classes with Kellie, Maddie, and Nicholette so far and enjoyed them all. I look forward to meeting other instructors. It's a very cool and welcoming environment, as well. I can tell that customer service is key for them - I received a welcome phone call, postcard, and email, which I thought was a nice touch. Why not 5 stars? Well...it's expensive. I do plan to continue going, and I'll update this review to 5 if I think the prices are worth the results I get. I love Pure Barre Vienna! I started the 30-day unlimited membership trial back in May and have loved it since day one. Every single instructor is super nice! They'll remember your name before you can remember theirs! I tend to shy away from workout classes, but they make you feel more than welcome here. Pure Barre gets you toned and your heart going just the right amount. The Empower class that is offered gives you that extra cardio boost and added weights. The Reform class coming out in September adds even a little more fun and will definitely make you sweat but never out of breath. I can't recommend Pure Barre Vienna enough! read more

I used to go here but I had to stop going due to medical reasons and my 12-month membership was over. I got the annoying emails from them to pay even though I told them my membership was over and I am no longer attending. Initially they wanted to charge me 2 months of membership + some fee but they said they are "waiving" half of it and requested me to pay 1 month which I didn't even attend. This is very unfair and I will report this issue to BBB so other people don't get treated like this. read more

If you like a little bit of flexibility this is not the place for you... - Their app is always giving me the wrong amount of classes that I have left, so I can't schedule easily. - I tried to cancel my subscription with 58 days in advance and they didn't let me do it because in the middle of the 58 days my account was frozen (I did it because travel reasons) so I still had to pay for that final month. If you let them know within 30 days in advance you are supposed to be ok, but in this case it didn't work so I had to pay that final extra month. No apology or any note, it was more like, "we are taking your money, deal with it." - They don't let you in the class if you are 2 minutes late, even though I have seen people come in late. Classes and teachers are good but you can definitely find that in other places with a little less of a hassle. read more

If I could give more than 5 stars, then I would. I don't normally review fitness places, as they're all for the most part fine, but for Pure Barre Vienna, I had to. First, the customer service... The customer service, generally, is truly above and beyond in so many ways - from front desk staff to the teachers to the studio manager. As an example, I was worried about finances and scheduling, and the studio manager talked with me (for a really long time) to figure how I could be a member and what would make sense given my certain circumstances. We obviously ended up working it out, but I've never had customer service to that extent before. Second, it's a great workout with fabulous and friendly teachers that made me, a weightlifter, sore (because it works you out in a different way but is still muscle strength)! I'm so happy I found Pure Barre! I have always hated exercise, but at PB I can kinda zone out and the 50 minutes passes really quickly. And it's easy to modify the moves to your fitness level or if you have injuries (lately the shoulder I strained years ago has been acting up, but I can still go to PB and work around it). The instructors and staff are really friendly - everyone learns your name and says hello and goodbye, etc. The other members are nice too. I was really intimidated at first because I'm not in great shape, but no one seems to judge you, even when you're struggling to keep up. Everyone just tries their personal best. With COVID, they've got distancing, masking, and sanitizing procedures, and it seems safe. I'm just glad to have somewhere to go so I'm not sitting at home all day! read more

Love it here so far. I just joined this studio and the workouts are amazing! The two types of classes they offer are Pure Barre, which is a traditional barre class, and Empower class is barre with a cardio emphasis, which made me sweat so much more! The ladies at the front and the instructors are very friendly and it has a very welcoming vibe. The schedule has a variety of times so I can go as early or as late (last class at 8pm!) as I need to, and weekend times are great, too! Overall, I prefer this studio over The Bar Method in Tysons (see my separate review). Much friendlier and more laid back here. read more

My happy place!! I am proud to say I am one of the Founding Fifty - and STILL enjoy classes on a regular basis - 5+ years later! I love the environment. It has a real sense of community and caring. And lots of humor. The trainers/instructors are all extremely knowledgable and each has their own delivery that personalizes the classes even more. The retail experience is always fun. I am not sure who their buyer is, but they know what they are doing! Its kind of like shopping AND working out when you walk in! PBV has handled the pandemic with poise and grace. Clearly safety was (is!) paramount for them, and like all business, they closed... calibrated - and re-opened on-line - then outside - then socially distanced (with masks). Frankly - I happen to love the online option - it takes weather, etc out of the mix, and makes a tight schedule even more manageable since you can do them ANY TIME - not just live. Their ability to maintain personalized delivery and execution of all classes (names, corrections, reminders of form) - is really admirable. I love PBV. I think it is a tightly run ship - in all positive ways - and I feel safe there - even in a pandemic. Nicholette has the work ethic of 100 people - and Christine (manager) is absolutely incredible. She is personable, professional, likeable and expedient with all requests, questions, etc. Frankly -I think she is the best addition to this studio. She has a handle on everything. Now - as for PB being a workout? I mean this nicely - if someone doesn't see results - honestly, its because they aren't doing it right. It took some time for me in the beginning to understand that less (range of motion!) is MORE. Oh - it is so much more. I have CrossFitted for 12 years now - and I love that sport. But even CrossFit hasn't given me the tone and definition in my arms and hamstrings and stomach that PB has. In CrossFit we encourage people to "mix up their fitness" - and I do believe that! Doing the same thing, all the time is rote. Real fitness is being able to do many things. PB has a foundation - but movements are always different - and there several forms of movement - Classic, Reform and Pure Empower (and intensives, too!). Combinations are personal, depending on goals - but they all are safe for all types of athletes and are very, very effective. I recommend PBV regularly and plan to continue to. I've been going to Pure Barre Vienna from the time it opened. I enjoy the workout, and would recommend people to go to try a class, and even give the new client special a try! (1 month for $99) Pure Barre is a good way to tone/tighten up, especially before something monumental (i.e.: a wedding, before or after a baby, etc). Pure Barre is perhaps not the best solution for rapid weight loss, but it is a good low impact workout that helps tighten and tone trouble areas. The 55 minutes go by really fast, and for someone who HATES working out, these classes fly by for me. I go almost every day, and I have never committed long term to working out like I have with Pure Barre. I hope they add more platform classes (the new cardio class) to the schedule, because it's a fun way to switch things up from a regular pure barre class. I've been to other Pure Barres, and the customer service at Vienna is very good (if you need something, don't be shy to call or email). I don't consider myself a high maintenance client and I'm pretty easy to please, but I truly value good customer service- that's what people really will return to a business for. Why not 5 stars? It's expensive, and I have the lowest price monthly membership (1 year contract, with a 10% off student/teacher/military discount offered). Being locked in a contract in order to get the lowest price I believe can come with a cost. They bank on you not walking away as a customer, and paying the fine to get out of your contract if you're unhappy. I also do think that because I was a younger client, I was treated differently than others who went. I'm young and proud of my successes, but often think that I was not taken as seriously as other clients. Also, know that at any Pure Barre (so this is a corporate issue, not specific to this location), they will use the term "unlimited". However, know you can only take 1 class per day. To me, the term "unlimited", therefore, is misleading. Unlimited, to me, means as much class as I want, whichever class I want to come to- not 1 per day. read more

LOVE this Pure Barre location!! Just took my first traditional Pure Barre class with Crystal and came back two days after to try the Empower class with Mary. The staff and instructors are incredibly friendly, warm and attentive -- I quickly became comfortable in the studio and the other students were just as welcoming. Considering I'm a beginner in Pure Barre, I thought both classes were challenging but definitely not too difficult for those who don't exercise regularly (me). The traditional class was a great workout to strengthen my upper and lower body while the Empower class was great for continuous movement and cardio. I absolutely hate working on my arms/core but their classes have allowed me to work on these more difficult areas in a fun way that I enjoy. I already can't wait to go back!! read more

I love Pure Barre Vienna! I committed to a year membership and am on my 10th month. I was worried that I would lose interest and my attendance would lag like previous gyms but the exact opposite has happened. It takes a while to build the muscles so you are really comfortable with the moves, but that's part of the challenge. They have challenges all the time to keep you motivated. Once you start seeing and feeling results it becomes addictive. I am now much stronger and leaner than I thought I would be! This is one of the only gyms in the area to offer 5am classes 3 days a week and 5:30am 2 days a week which are great times for people who need to get moving early. There are sometimes waitlists for some of the more popular times on the weekends, but it is usually pretty easy to get into the class of your choice. The staff is really welcoming and very helpful. They'll push you to do your best while making sure your form is correct. They'll also give you tips during the whole class and reminders to protect your knees/lower back etc. The instructors really know how to motivate you, especially at 5am. I'm always amazed how happy and engaging they are that early when everyone just wants to lay on the floor and fall asleep. The studio is clean and welcoming and the lighting is very flattering ;) I definitely recommend buying a long term package to keep you going. Since the moves are small and low impact the results aren't immediate, but they are sure and steady. Who can beat a 55 minute full-body low impact workout? read more

I love this place!!! The staff is awesome and really want you to succeed. The ladies are always friendly and willing to help you modify or push you harder as you get more comfortable with the class. They offer a bunch of times so I never have issues finding a class ( I appreciate the later night classes for long days at work). If I could give Pure Barre zero stars I would. This is more about the deceptive business practices to gain membership in a very misleading way. But, was told by the Owner, the "BBB already investigated us; and we gain clients in a very legal way...." Hmmm, there's your sign. It may be "very legal", but, it's very unethical. First, the owner Nicholette D. and manager Christine T. are rude and condescending- and sad to see women screwing over other women.... Second, Pure Barre is OVERPRICED/overrated. Third, the gym is not that great... you pay quadruple the amount for essentially- nothing. Bottom line: STAY AWAY from this place because, from my experience, they are very deceptive on membership and will nickel and dime you. They do NOT show or sit down to explain the "fine print" until after you receive a text to confirm "agreement"; then, once you code in the text, then you receive a copy of the "contract". By then, it's too late. You are stuck. read more

I have tried a few Pure Barres around Northern Virginia and so far this is my favorite... The classes are similar at all Pure Barres because that is part of the tried and true Pure Barre formula but the teachers here have some personality and actually remember you from visit to visit. The electronic check-in is super convenient. And the studio owner is excellent with customer service--occasionally stuff happens to interrupt a class but Nichollette always responds proactively, without being asked, in letting her clients know she appreciates them. read more

The Pure Barre workout is intense. But it's the hardest 50 minutes you'll ever love. No doubt it transforms the body. This is not the most inexpensive way to gain strength and tighten up. However, it's nice to know when you walk in there is an awareness that you took the time to show up to class. They greet you by name and the instructors that check in and have an awareness of you and your life are gold. If I'm spending that $$ I want the royal treatment and they are able to do that. Doesn't hurt that the music is awesome and pumping (just like I love it) and the interior is easy on the eyes. It's definitely worth trying (many free opportunities to get in a class). Buy the intro one month pass ($100 =unlimited classes for the month) and come as often as your body can hack it. You'll see the results and then BAM they got you read more

This workout is all you need - between classic Pure Barre classes and Empower classes, you have the ability to lift, tone, and burn and also get your cardio workout in. I have been coming to this studio since it first opened in August 2015. Like most clients, I had never committed to anything before and never enjoyed working out. One of the best workouts out there where you can see visible results after only a handful of classes! I not only look sculpted and stronger, I AM STRONGER.
