Deceptive company that bullies people into signing a contract before a "free" trial and "promises" to void it if you didn't like it.

I signed up with Kyle and due to a new baby and lack of time had to cancel my membership yesterday and Kyle helped me with that too.

Shady financial practices. Had a membership for years and canceled it for Covid. Six months later,…read morethey started charging my card again, by their mistake, and it went unnoticed for a long time. They did a partial refund but stiffed me still for over $1000. Some advice, if you're going to give your credit card to a company that practices like this, is to make sure you block them with your credit card company after your membership is up. ( the following is a reply to the reply from one life) Hi Kelly, I think it might be wise to get some facts straight before you reply. Your regional manager never "explained" anything. After looking through the internal notes of the account, the general manager thought I should be refunded. But he could not authorize such a large refund and had to kick it up the chain to the regional manager. After many attempts, the regional manager essentially ignored the flagged requests from the general manager. So please, do your due diligence and look through the internal notes on the account. I don't judge a company by the mistakes they make, but how they fix them.

Great gym! Had to move away from Frederick so I'm switching to another location but my time with…read morethe South Frederick location was great. In the time I was there, they opened up several new rooms in the gym, including more benches, racks, and deadlifting platforms. They also seemed responsive to their member surveys and it seemed like my suggestions for improvement were actually taken into account based on the changes I observed. I typically went during the mornings and found that I rarely had to wait for equipment, which is always a plus. Better experience here than most gyms I have been to.

I enjoy going to the Y with my toddler. I grew up at the Y, and where I went, they had an…read moreimpressive number of young children's programs. This one has almost none. It's disappointing, because as a mom and toddler, we have to pay $94 a month for the family plan (it's cheaper for a single parent and child over the age of 5), and then all that is offered is a single swim class for kids over 6 months, then a single gym class for kids over 18 months. It's not until 2 that you really can start getting use out of more of the classes. We do love the pool. Open swim times are very limited, so it can be tough to get there. Then if you are with a child under 18 who needs help, you are stuck using the children's locker room. The showers take 5 minutes to get warm, and the swim team kids and their colorful conversations disgust me. I would love to have a separate locker room for young children from the one for preteens! I am happy with the fun zone. If your child is independent, they will have a great time in there. Though my child loves the pool, he cries at having to walk away from the fun zone to get there. There are days and times that are better to be in there, but overall I love letting him go in to play. The open gym is great! I hate that there is an extra fee to use it though. It really should be included in your membership. That and the pool is all that is available to toddlers. It would be like having to pay an extra $3 each time an adult wanted to go into the gym and workout AFTER paying for the membership. It's expensive, there is a lot to be desired, but there isn't anything better in Frederick.

I am ending my membership as I fear entry into this facility. It is sad and unfathomable that the YMCA appears unable to hire staff with simple customer service skills. I have been intimidated into quitting. It's not worth the stress.

Laura and Tom (Managers and owners) run an amazing gym and still address most of the members by their first names. The staff which includes Coleen and Alicia are super friendly and extremely helpful. Anytime Fitness offers really good group classes and Ken is a great trainer who is willing to walk you thru various exercises regardless of your workout level. One of the most impressive things about this gym is the fact that is beyond meticulously cleaned and sanitized. Even prior to Covid the cleanliness at the gym was impeccable and it almost appears that management and staff have taken it up a notch. I know this review could be too good to be true, so I challenge you to try the gyms free and no obligation 7 day free trial period. The offer period is a great way to get to know the gym, it's personnel and gauge if it's going to work for you. What do you really have to loose?

Don't let the size of this gym fool you (it's not THAT small though!)...during peak times there are more members but that's is the case with ALL gyms...although it's never been an issue for me. They have such a great variety of equipment & this is the first AF location that 1. Asked members what new equipment they wanted & 2. Actually purchased the equipment! They have a a good amount of classes. They have plenty of trainers. My last location told me they didn't have time for me, so I like that there are several trainers available. And something else I really love about this location is that it is CLEAN!!! Not only do they do a great job in making sure all of the equipment is where it is supposed to be, they have people cleaning the floors, equipment, etc all of the time. You get what you pay for, if you want to go to the gym whenever you want, attend free classes, workout with a trainer ($), friendly staff, and have a clean place to workout, this is your gym.

He chatted with us for a really long time, asking about what we were interested in, why we popped in, and on and on. He also told us his own history and the Boulder Yard's history. He gave us a few specific suggestions and ideas, including that his sets are a bit different than most (they are) and, more important, his floor cushioning is very different than most other gyms. It is. It is much MUCH softer than most which is good but he suggested taking a few falls before we went too high just to get used to the feel. It's also like walking on the beach --- walking from one side of the room to the other will wear out your legs. His walls are not textured (mostly) so if you're planning to smear a lot --- well, you won't. But it is more realistic this way. The majority of the place is boulders but he's also got two workout areas with equipment, two separate rooms that he uses to teach some martial arts (didn't catch what kind), and, for the helluvit, a Nintendo/Playstation/whatever setup for, I guess, if you're tired and just want to zone a bit. We'll absolutely be back. We paid $54 for two day passes; quite reasonable I think. Oh, and he does his own woodworking (as do my partner and I). Took a pic of the large benches in the front of his shop. Hand-made from some trees that he grabbed from his own yard. That was cool!!!
