When we made the decision to do solar, we obtained multiple bids from vendors. Dispute SolarTech being $10k more than other bids, we went with them based on their promise of continuity of customer service and ease of warranty work in the future. I am beyond frustrated with SolarTech. The communication and attention to detail has been extremely poor. I was told a tech would be coming to finish the install today between 5-6am, which I verified by repeating back to you when you called me back Friday. The tech did not show. I waited until 6:30am before going to work LATE. I start work at 6am. A call, a text or an email could have been sent. However, nobody called me to say they were not coming or needed to reschedule due to the weather. This is unacceptable. This is not the only issue I have had. On the initial install it was not communicated to me that my install was not complete due to parts being unavailable. Apparently it was on the install notes and an inspection never should have been scheduled but I was told the next step is the inspection with the county. The inspection was scheduled for March 17. I took the day off of work to be there only to find out I was going to fail the inspection. Imagine my frustration today again waiting for a tech that never showed up or communicated that they would not be coming by. At this point I have taken 3 days off of work (2 for the install, 1 for the failed inspection), had to go into work late today and will have to burn another day at work for a second inspection whenever that is scheduled. My solar had a tentative install as Jan 26 but was not installed until the end of February, which I understand was likely delayed due to weather. However, I had to reach out to Solar Tech to see when the install would happen, nobody called to let me know my project was delayed. Then when I finally did have an install date there was an atmospheric river predicted in the weather forecast. I called two days before the scheduled install to see if my install was going to be rescheduled so I could plan whether or not I needed to take days off of work. The person I spoke to seemed to have no idea that it was supposed to rain like cats and dogs for multiple days. She told me my project was still on. Then called me later on to let me know it would be rescheduled the next day. At this point I have little confidence in this company. I am a reasonable person. If the above issues were communicated I wouldn't be sitting here frustrated wondering why did I go with this company. While this may not seem like a big deal,it is when I have to schedule time off of work , paid a lot more for their service (based on customer service sales pitch) compared to the other vendors that bid, and am paying both a solar loan and an electricity bill to the tune of over $800/mo. We will continue to update this post , good or bad, based on actions taken by SolarTech. We don't enjoy blasting folks, it's not our nature, but we also feel that when you make a commitment or promise, you keep it. when you mess up or make a mistake, you make it right. Just don't want others to have to go thru these same struggles. The price of solar and the decision to move forward is big. If you do go forward, do your research and take reviews into account to avoid unnecessary hassles like ours. read more

I've been working with Ali Ibrahim a solar panel project and so far my experience has been very positive. We chose SolarTech over two other companies, including Costco and overall we were very pleased with our choice. SolarTech is very professional and timely especially considering this was a crazy busy year with everyone trying to install before the Newest rape version of NEM monitoring from SDG&E. I did have a few glitches in communication, one rude person, a lost check and was surprised I had to ask to pay them .... but it was resolved once we reached out to the correct people. From our sales person Cassidy to, the installing crew as well as Liz in the office I say thumbs up to Solar Tech ! read more

Update: They designed the system with the solar panels on the roof which is a bad idea on a golf course. The guy who had sold me on them told me that the panels were resistant to golf balls so it wouldn't be a problem. Not true. Three years in I had to replace around 15 of the 120 panels because they were shattered. Then when replacing the solar panels a bunch of roof tiles were broken. They have provided great service otherwise though so giving 4 stars. read more

If you are looking for a project/job site that is neat and clean, with a contractor that shows attention to detail, THEN DO NOT CHOOSE SOLARTECH! I had a $30K+ job completed with SolarTech, and was way less then impressed with the work that was performed. I wish I could post photos in this review, to show the poor workmanship, but there are many aspect of my project that just seem to be overlooked and subpar. Unfortunately, I will not be recommending this company to my family/friends. read more

We worked with Ali Ibrahim from Solar Tech on our Solar upgrade project which included Tesla Powerwalls. Ali came with personal recommendations from my neighbors who had worked with Ali in past. Ali was super responsive , very caring and gave us options. Most importantly, the estimates were the best and very competitive. He was always tracking the progress and any specific needs we had for our project (example specific location where we wanted to Powerwalls installed). Overall this was amazing value for the money and great experience. I know there are lot of options out there but I would highly recommend Ali and SolarTech and would encourage anyone to give them an opportunity to share their products and services with anyone who is in market. Even the installers that came in to do the job (Bob and his crew) were super timely , always kept us posted and understood are specific needs. Very happy with their work. read more

No pressure sales approach, great communication, and a flawless / efficient install process. They did a great job tucking the electrical conduit under the eves (out of sight) and they painted the conduit to match the house color and roof color. I'm very pleased with the end product and I can't wait to see the savings over the next 20 years. I would definitely recommend SolarTech for your solar install. read more

Very happy with our solar installation - we used SolarTech for both PV (electric) and pool solar. From the initial consultation with Ali Ibrahim to the contracting process (we changed our mind on some of the design elements mid-stream and they handled without issue) to the final installed product, we are very happy. Solar is a big investment - and SolarTech's pricing was near the top end of the 5 companies we got quotes from; I chose them based on quality of product and warranty, communication, professionalism, and flexibility with the design/final materials. No hidden fees. No bait-and-switch. The final install is exactly what we laid out on paper. read more

I went through solar techs reviews before I made my decision to use them, reading all good and bad. Let me tell you every negative review was pretty much what I experienced from Jason bull lying about about saving me 4k. He signed me up for the wrong plan. Then said I would have to have my credit ran again to make the change. Installers installed panels carelessly dropping and dragging panels on ground leaving deep scratches on panel frame. Sent pics to solar tech. They came back and spray painted scratches. While inspecting my roof I couldn't believe the installers would leave ALL there mess on my roof. I found all there cut wires, zip ties and cut aluminum on the roof and the ground. I called and spoke to Grant and this dude literally made excuses For his crew. He passed me over to Charlene who was supposed to meet me on a agreed date and time to do a walk through and she no-showed. I called back on Monday just for Charlene to lie saying she must have sent the cancellation to a different email. Charlene and I have been speaking the whole time via text/phone. She lied!! I started with them in February. Inspection was passed 5/11/2022. They sent me an email saying in 2 weeks things would be finalized. It's 6/11/2022. I haven't heard one thing from solar tech.. that is until I left my honest opinion on how unprofessional and misleading solar tech has been a few days ago and finally... I get a response from lily there project manger. Not one apology from her. Steer clear from this company. They do not communicate. The installers are lazy and unprofessional. Speaking with them over the phone is comical. Nobody takes responsibility over at solar tech. They just take your money. You've been warned curious customers!!! Beware!!' read more

Response # 2 to Travis D. Travis, I'm the one that signed the contract... The husband! Teufel Hunden is Devil Dog in German... The US Marines are known as Devil Dogs, but you wouldn't know that because you've never served in the military. Lol. This is MY account. It's funny to me that you're talking about something you've never seen. Whatever the issue was with the trenching, WHY WAS IT NOT RELAYED TO ME?!!! Why did I have to make many phone calls and AFTER over 6 months I found out "trenching" was the issue? Something your boss Call-dodging Grant was going to "resolve." Again, a failure of your company from TOP to BOTTOM. Travis, I don't care what you guys do or don't do.... don't promise it IN A CONTRACT. That's your problem, not mine! Solar Tech Showed up on time, after a pleasant experience in setting up the appointment, tech easily and efficiently restored our system after a system inspection. Here's my story. Signed a contract with SolarTech in November to install solar, a roof and electrical panel. They are not the cheapest company but i liked the panels and they said all work was done in house. Salesman and everyone came out to make sure solar could go up and roof in February. Everything looks good right? Wrong! Here I am in February and the roofing crew shows up. Just kidding they climb off the roof and say they do not work on my type of roof nor can it hold solar. Well that would have been good to know three months prior as my roof began to leak causing extra damage and costs to my repair. Okay. Stuff happens let's move on to the electrical panel because this has to be done anyway and they already had the appointment set up for me.m. March 16 arrives and SDGE shows up at 8 am as scheduled. Who does not? You guessed it SolarTech. SDGE has other people waiting. Calls SolarTech electrician numbers 4 times. No dice. Sdge leaves without shutting power off since the electrician has to be there. I speak with the office and I get an offer for them to pay the rescheduling fee. Super great offer since they missed the appointment. (Hope you sense the sarcasm) I am not going to call and ask to speak to the owner and cry because I don't believe you should have to for good quality service and work. I will say everyone is super nice there but after three strikes I just asked more my deposit back and I am 5 months behind on a remodel. I see everyone on here has had better luck than I do hopefully it is a one off, but good grief!!!! read more

I had SolarTech install 29 panels on my roof. The process started off with an appointment with JC who was extremely knowledgeable about the competitors, as well as the products he is selling. On a sidenote, JC answered his phone every time I called and respond to texts as well when I have questions. This was extremely important to me. once I signed a contract, I was connected with a team of people that worked with the county for permits and contractors to do the work. The process was completely seamless and done in a timely manner. I had permission to operate from the electric company within a few days of completion on the project. The price was not even competitive with two other estimates that I received. It was far less than the competitors are usually do not go with a company because of price but when it's over a $10,000 difference, you have to question why the competitors are gouging solar prices on their products that are less in quality. read more

And my brand new roof is leaking because of solar installation. Using this company for a second time was a big mistake.

It's been a little over one year since my SunPower panels were installed by Solar Tech, and I could not be happier. My Solar Consultant Gino Salvaggio did a fantastic job telling me all my options and was not pushy or trying to oversell us. When I needed to call the Solar Tech the front office, was very helpful. The Project Manager that was assigned to our job was Charlene Reed. Again another smooth transition, and she is very good at her job. I phoned her boss Grant, Director of Operations and told him what an outstanding job Charlene did for us. Solar Tech is lucky to have her as an employee. The Solar Tech installers Eduardo, Miguel Nunez, Carlos Sadir, and Daniel exceeded my expectations. Working in the trades for 40 years + I know good work when I see it. Thank you Solar Tech. read more

I am a pretty unhappy customer. Paid 31k for a system 3 years ago. I still get monthly $300 solar bills on average since install. Had an inverter fail under warranty and they took their sweet time to replace (close to 2 months) - where i incurred utility bills over 1k each during those months. I then had a roof leaf - and they sent some guys out who pulled a whole bunch tree debris off of my roof - and just left it in a big pile in my yard when done. When I spoke to discuss my issues with the roofing coordinator, he could not have been MORE OF A JERK and basically told me it would be $850 a panel to remove any - and I was on my own other than that. I WOULD NEVER EVER EVER EVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES They put in a 100k system in my Dad's house so I thought I would be safe - I was not. DO NOT USE OR GIVE YOUR BUSINESS TO UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOU ONCE THEY GET YOUR CASH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

We wanted Solar for our pool and decided to go with SolarTech. Our house isn't your normal layout and this definitely was not a normal pool solar installation. That being said, these guys were great. Maneuvering around boulders, under decks and trying to find the ideal place to install the solar sheets/tubes (we already have home solar which takes up most of the roof) these guys made it look easy. The salesman David Baca was super responsive and answered all of my questions. He then passed me on to the Pre-Site Manager Greg Chase who kept me up to date on when the project would start/finish and who was coming out to my house each day. Greg has been amazing to work with. I have a string of texts where everytime I ask for him to do anything he would respond back with "no problem". He's called me back after store hours to help walk me through operation of the system. This has been a great experience and I would highly recommend SolarTech and this crew to anyone. Like I said, this wasn't your everyday installation and these guys just kept saying "no problem". read more

Consider other 4-5 star companies in the area if you want your solar done properly from start to FINISH. Our sales guy was great, responsive, clear on pricing and process, however once contract was signed, numerous issues followed. First, a 3 month delay that had nothing to do with supply but the fact they admitted to working on a customer with a similar last name so thought they have already gotten to our job. They apologized for that mistake and offered $200 discount for the troubles even after numerous checkins met by an annoyed staff stating it wasn't our turn. I didn't accept the discount as the installers were diligent and hardworking and didn't have anything to do with the delay (during this same time period of waiting, two neighbors whom went with Stellar Solar and Sunline Energy, both signed contracts after me and had their projects completed months before me). After the job was finally done, we decided to add 8 more panels due to a discount and figured it would be simple. Nope, delays and poor communication led to months of lack of energy being produced by panels even after paying for the installation and still, issues with monitoring and lack of power being produced. The complexities of a power wall (Tesla) and solar panels seem to have their technical team flustered with attempts to fix but no resolution (at least they've admitted there is an issue after over a month of trying to get someone out to the site). Still awaiting a manager to step in to deliver a solution with some urgency which usually only happens after a negative review is provided. read more

I am updating my review after recent activity on the part of SolarTech. Although it took more than 14 months to finally resolve this issue, SolarTech was able to finally find a replacement panel (which actually generates more power than the shattered one it replaced) and installed it in February along with the microinverter we had previously purchased for the panel that was somehow shattered - all at no additional cost to us. I don't know if the reason this issue took so long to be resolved was related to a specific person dragging their feet (I was told by SolarTech that their long term service manager had left the company recently) or if it was just difficult to find LG panels now that they have stopped producing/selling them. Either way, I am happy to put this incident behind me and have improved my overall company review rating. read more

Greg Chase at Solartech has been my speed dial buddy when it comes to my pool. Greg works on the Solar heated pool side of Solartech. With the complexity of the pool pump/filter/solar controls my regular pool guy didn't understand how to change the program of my system and had recommended that I replace the pump because he was experiencing intermittent issues with programming. Greg has the experience with all of the Pentair equipment to be able to troubleshoot issues. Good move on my part. Was put in touch Manager who walked me through rebooting the controller and setting up the pool pump with all the correct settings. We love the system water system. Solartech is the best solar installer for Commercial building and home owners in Southern California! I should have made this review much earlier! Our company in Irvine has 58 solar panels on the roof. Sales Rep Ali Ibrahim is the best one from the first day when he presented the project for us. Robert Shaw, the Director of Marketing also provided us with well understanding of the company's dignity and service. No wonder their business has been extremely booming after 10 years focus on solar pool heating. We're pleased to be one of their first few commercial building projects in OC with a decent size of over 20kW. The Solar System has saved over one thousand of dollars on the bill. It's been running terrifically. I coordinated this project since day 1 and my boss has been extremely amazed at the solar production! read more

SolarTech installed my solar system at the tail end of summer (and new pool pump!). I've been busy traveling for work and haven't had a chance to sit down to write a proper review, but now I have. Kevin was my sales guy and he worked with me to get everything set up, pretty much all remotely as I had a pretty grueling travel schedule over the summer. The paperwork was done remotely, as well as scheduling the work. I made progress payments remotely as well. I would have liked a few more progress photos as things went along but I got enough to show me what was going on. The office staff was very helpful as well. After I came back home, everything looked as it should. After waiting for the paperwork to go through, I got permission to operate in early September. From signing the paperwork to operating was just over 30 days. Things went fast and I got a great price. My modest system has so far produced almost 3.5 megawatt-hour of electricity since install... crazy I know! A home battery system is on my list. I'm happy and would recommend SolarTech without hesitation. read more

My grandma wanted to install solar panels and a battery for her house. She had met with 3 other companies but was not impressed with them as they tried to upsell her. She decided to put her solar project on hold, and that's when one of my coworkers recommended Ali Ibrahim. I took over the process to ensure she got the best price with the best panels. I cannot say enough about Ali, he was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was patient with my grandma and extremely knowledgeable in his profession. SolarTech installed my solar panels over 10 years ago now, and they are still performing as strong as ever! I can't recommend SolarTech high enough as they have helped me with any issues or questions I've had with my solar over the years. They did a fantastic job on the install, and their customer service is second to none. I believe they are a locally owned private operation, and they stand behind their work, unlike some other companies I've seen in this space. I've had friends and neighbors tell me that their installer is out of business now and they don't know who to call with issues. I try to always refer them to SolarTech. These guys stand behind their work, and are always a pleasure to work with. Hope this helps anyone looking to make a hard decision on solar...I give my highest recommendation to the folks at SolarTech. read more

It appears SolarTech did not reinstall the solar panels correctly. They used wiring that isn't approved for outdoor use, and the wire nuts that they installed came loose, causing the live wires to be exposed (dangerous) and touch each other. This caused my solar panels to not work at all, and honestly could have caused a more serious issue if it wasn't caught. Fortunately, after another solar company inspected their work and provided photos for me to share with SolarTech, SolarTech came back to replace the wire and wire nuts for free. It concerns me that those mistakes were made in the first place, though. I was told on the phone that they would never leave a job without making sure the job was done well. I think I would recommend them for roof replacement, because my roof still seems to look and work great, but would not trust them with the solar panels. read more

I received excellent work from my first sales contact with Cassidy to Robert, the lead installer, to the installation crews. I was a very early solar user back in 2002, but I needed to relocate and add to my system this year. The county of San Diego with all their regulation changes made it impossible to save my old functional system. No contractor wanted the job. Solar Tech provided the winning bid. They were worth waiting for. When Robert and his crew arrived they were one of the hardest working teams I have seen. My custom home was not an easy install with my main panel down on a hillside, not on the house. It also had an emergency electrical system. I have a strong electrical background and enjoyed watching a team with a can-do attitude solve numerous problems. Their battery back up and load shedding system by NeoVolta works excellently in keeping my money from going to SDG&E. The solar panels by Sun Power are monitored by Solar Tech, so I don't have to. Some of my issues were not easy to solve, like monitoring a 400 amp panel on a hillside. Their true colors came out when I had a new inverter fail. Not only was it replaced in a timely manner, but they also figured out why it failed so it will not happen again. They all are a first class team I will highly recommend! There are so many people involved that made this a wonderful experience. Grant, Charlene, Paul, Luis, Damon, David, Ulysses, and Danny. My apologies to any of them I did not log. read more

DO NOT under any circumstances use this company!!!! We are currently in the middle of a solar panel installation with them and it has gone horribly wrong. Late in the afternoon on November 8th, 2021 a SolarTech employee was making the final connections from their solar equipment to our electrical panel and shorted out at least two circuits. This sent 220 volts down normally 110 volt circuits burning out all of our equipment and devices on these circuits including our furnace and smart thermostat. The most egregious thing of this whole incident is SolarTech, particularly Grant Magoffin and Charlene Reed, have left myself and my family sitting in a tinderbox that could go up in flames any minute due to their non-responsiveness correcting the electrical hazard their company created in our home. read more
