They did the rebate work with the city so our out-of-pocket cost wasn't exorbitant at all. Our household also recently purchased a second electric vehicle so we contacted 512 Solar again, this time for a level 2 charger installation. Once again, 512 Solar was excellent at getting our quote together, suggesting two hardwired chargers that the city does rebates on, and actually getting the work done as well. We have to do the final step with submitting the rebate paperwork to the city, I believe, but that's small beans compared to all the work that JP and Huiyun did for us at the outset. STORM TEST. Tesla installed our original Powerwall last March and Freedom Power added the extension battery this week -- two batteries now. Within hours of finishing, an electrical storm subjected the neighborhood to several hours of brownouts and blackouts. A few grow-lights flickered briefly. None of the clocks needed resetting. No noticeable latency -- Wi-Fi and everything else just stayed up. Except for the lightning and thunderclaps, we hardly noticed the storm. Rate math (FPL RTR-1 Time-of-Use). On-peak grid power runs about 29¢/kWh. Off-peak is about 6-8¢/kWh, and off-peak includes a real credit, not just a smaller charge. PRE-EXTENSION PACK. On our latest bill (1,671 kWh): only 61 kWh on-peak (3.7%) and 1,610 off-peak. The TOU structure saved us roughly $67 (July) versus the same usage with no off-peak credit. Every peak kWh we avoid is worth about 21¢ against off-peak. YESTERDAY'S LOAD TEST. Stove, hairdryer, showers, Instant Pot, TVs, computers, and air conditioning at 77°F -- and we still had 31% battery left at 9 PM, the end of the summer peak window. Under the single Powerwall we often scraped the last two hours and leaked expensive peak kWh. With the second battery, we held the whole peak on reserve with room to spare. When Elon offers vehicle-to-home (V2H) power-sharing in something nicer than the Cybertruck (wife hates the look), we'll add that to the backup stack. Solar roof tiles still feel like overkill for us -- but you've earned enough trust that we might change our minds. I already have one referral in the tunnel. I'll let you know when it lands. All were prompt in their responses and provided well written proposals. Only Grayzer included the cost of a permit in their proposal. Further a friend had their wall panel upgraded and their Tesla Wall Connector installed by Grayzier and recommended them highly. After looking at the reviews for the different certified installers, and given that a permit is required in my town to install an EV charger, I went with Grayzer. They provided a date and service window ( a week in advance of my appointment ) and the electrician, Max, pinged me about an hour prior to his arrival. I showed Max my ideal location for the Tesla Wall Connector and he was able to accommodate without having to cut away any drywall or running conduit outside the wall ( YMMV ). Very friendly, professional and knowledgable. He took the information/pictures required by Tesla and by my town's permitting authority, commissioned the Wall Connector, showed my how to add it to the Tesla Application on my iPhone and verified that it was charging at the specified rate (48 amps). He was happy to answer any questions I might have, and I am just delighted by the service and work done. I would recommend highly to friends, neighbors, et al. The first time they did it they installed a 240 volt outlet in my garage and I plugged a tesla mobile connector into that, worked well. The next time they did it at the new house, I thought they would do the same thing but apparently they stopped installing the mobile connectors. Now they only install the wall connector which is a large sci-fi looking thing that is permanently affixed to the wall. It's also more expensive than the mobile connector. None of this was made clear to me when we started the project with Grayzer. They came to my house, got about 90% done with the job then saw the equipment I had and said "sorry we don't do those anymore". They explained the situation to me but since I didn't have the equipment they wanted they couldn't finish. They did however insist on being fully paid for the job. Stupidly, I agreed to pay them and they left saying "call us when you have the wall connector". That was a mistake. Never fully pay for the work until the job is fully done! So I bought one and scheduled a time to finish at which point they said they would need to charge another trip fee to come back out. I explained that it wasn't made clear to me that I didn't have the right equipment until the job was almost complete but they didn't care. They were insistent that I give them another trip fee before they would come back. Frankly they were pretty rude about it too. Like really rude. Whoever I was emailing was belligerent and completely unprofessional. It was extremely frustrating. I tried to explain that as the professionals in this situation they should be the ones checking that all the equipment is ready to go before the job starts. At the time I didn't know the difference between a mobile connector and a wall connector. I didn't even know that tesla had multiple options for wall chargers. I had what I used the first time so I figured it would work. It's not that the trip fee was so much money but after having to drag this out over two visits, spend another $150 to upgrade to a wall connector, a trip fee on top of all that was a bit much. In my opinion, a reasonable company would just accept responsibility and waive the second trip fee. Or at least offer to split it. But not these guys. They dug their trench and they weren't coming out. It was childish and stupid and I'm embarrassed for them. And to boot, the people they sent out to finish up the job were jerks. One of them was yelling and cussing at somebody on their phone like a crazy person in my garage. Honestly, these guys are like school on a Sunday -- no class. I guess this is what happens when you get to be a popular company. Customer service and basic decency goes out the window because what do you care, you have plenty of business. Right? Yeah right.

You would think if we're paying $50,000, they would make sure everything is installed properly! We tried calling and calling them. When our panels were installed, they didn't give us what we wanted. We wanted to be off grid, and to connect our old panels to our new panels. This didn't work out. We were also promised a $15,000 rebate check by Jonathan and Nate. Jonathan told us it would take two weeks. Nate said it would take 4. Now, we're a couple months in and we haven't seen anything. I leave voicemails for the office and I get no reply. I really wish I would've gone with a bigger company with more experience. I feel somethings off here.
