The staff was ok but they kept trying to get you to do extra things and I didn't like that. I hate feeling pressured to get service I don't quite care for. A week after my pedicure, both my toe nails cracked and broke. That's never happened before, so not my nails. The paint was chipping. On my hands, I noticed she didn't second coat the colors, so they aren't as vibrant as they should be. They aren't terrible, but I regret my design choice. My daughter got a full set that cost me 88$, and they started breaking days after. They are really nice, tho, and the woman who did my eye brows did an amazing job. this place sucks got my nails done simple acrylic tip nail she ripped my previous set off so hard my nail practically started bleeding and then put a new acrylic on then after I got it done four days later the nail came off went to go get it fixed, and they practically laughed in my face because I came in a little before close even though when I called, she said it was OK since it's only one now she has to fix get your crap together. The nail technician I have been seeing for years is Cindy. While other technicians in other salons seem to come and go, Cindy is usually available. While her English is very broken, I do not have a problem communicating with her. She does excellent work, and her leg massages are the best. I would occasionally go to Solar Nails as I live nearby. I always had good experiences. In October, I received a pedicure. The nail tech was removing an ingrown toenail. I told her several times it was hurting me and further, that I had never had a pedicure where I broke out in a sweat! She lightly laughed and kept going. After that pedicure, I had two months of visiting three doctors (virtual, primary care and eventually a podiatrist), antibiotics, soaked in Epsom salt, vinegar and warm water. Finally the Podiatrist I saw said a nail tech is NOT trained to remove ingrown toenails. Part of the ingrown toenail was left in and trying to come through the top of my toe! Four shots later, this was removed and I am hoping to be at the end of this saga. NEVER let a nail tech remove a full ingrown toenail!!! Trust me- I will not be going back to Solar Nails! read more

I came here as they were still doing their grand opening hoping this would be my new nail salon after moving to ST Pete. I asked for a nail color, 113. It's bright pink. The lady came to me and showed me a similar color to the one i had and claimed it was 113. it was a darker pink with sparkles. She painted it on me. She told me this one is the same one you saw up front. After paid, i realized not only did she give me the wrong color, and i showed her... but she also did a horrible job with the acrylic application. she made it way too thick and looked BEYOND a natural nail. After paying i left. i went outside and realized how horrible my nails were so i went inside and told her. she had NO problem making corrections after the fact. My nails still look like crap honestly but it's a lot better than what it was before. thank you for making the corrections but please sharpen on your skills. Third time frequenting this salon after moving to the Ridgemoor area. I was excited because it is conveniently located near my home and I want to support the local businesses as much as possible. But, after three tries I may need to take my business elsewhere. The pedicures have been decent but the manicure and nail services each time has been awful. The last two visits I chose dip nails. However, within 3-7 days the dip nails lift. Dip nails are suppose to last 3 weeks which offsets the extra expense. When I went back to address the lifting, they said maybe my nails can't handle dip, maybe too oily. What???! How about poor technique and application? So disappointed in the lack of customer service, poor product quality and apparent waste of time and money!! read more

We just moved to the are and my wife and I have already been there about four times between the two of us and had great service each time. The entire staff is very friendly and are very skilled. I read some of the reviews from some time ago and I was quite confused. Then I learned that the owners, Lee and Giao bought the salon one year ago. Solar Nails is by far the most professional, well-kept salon I have been to. Ever!! The nail technicians, Cindy, Diane and Hannah are highly trained and to say they are perfectionists is an understatement. Going to the salon should be a wonderful, stress-free experience. It looks like I found a new nail salon! I came in for the first time to get a pedicure and I left extremely happy. Cindy was my nail technician and I have no complaints what so ever. She took her time doing my pedicure and did not rush a thing. It's hard to find a good salon that will take their time instead of just trying to get you in and out but this place cares! They do a good job on manicures and pedicures, the massage chairs are nice, as is the staff. My problem? They don't honor their gift cards if they were issued beyond 1 year. So, their gift cards, apparently "expire" despite never mentioning this at the time of purchase. Also, gift cards cannot be used for tips, just services. I've bought spa gift cards at other places, and they can be used for services and tip, and do not expire. So this really is disappointing. read more

More health code violations than I could count in my hour in there! First, the place smelled like mildew, and it took a few minutes to realize it was the pound of rotting bananas in the bowl right next to my pedi chair. Second, the very sweet girl who did my pedicure, whom I am positive it was her first day based on her confusion and constant questions to the owner, pulled out that "cheese grater" tool that most places have been banned from using. I quickly objected and asked for just the pumice stone. Overall, the place was not kept at all, personal belongings everywhere, dirty chairs, scary looking, "disinfectant" jars, and my pedicurist's phone kept ringing off the hook to a rap song. never again!! read more

Some clients bring their own colors and that is welcomed also.If you would like a design,whether whimsical, subtle or festive, you need to ask them, for they do not advertise designs, but do an excellent job (whether from a photo or imagination.)
