This quaint seemingly little gem was recommended to me by my sister as a quick close by option to my hotel and I've walked past it several times during my stays in Lisbon. Today I finally decided to pop in for a quick dinner before heading to El Corte Inglês for a little holiday shopping. As I walk in it seemed to be a small little restaurant with a handful of small tables where I was greeted by one of the servers who then took me around to another room with a few more small and bigger tables. I was pleasantly surprised how clean and inviting this restaurant was. Being a foodie with high expectations of Portuguese cuisine I was skeptical to be eating at this place as I'm well aware of how popular cities tend to lack quality the more touristic it becomes, but I gave it a go. And I'm so glad that I did. My original dish (grilled octopus) they were out of so I decided to try the fried cuddle fish with shrimp and a side of fried potato slices. To my amazement not only was it delicious but the cuddle fish was cooked to perfection, very fresh and tender, not rubbery. I chose to accompany with a half bottle of their house red which was too a nice choice. Of course I couldn't end my dinner without dessert and as I always prefer house made desserts I requested their house specialty which was the creme brûlée which was also good. Not too sweet and well presented. Price was not bad but for the locals it's a bit on the higher side for one person at 26€ (approximately $30) which included initial fresh bread basket, butter, cheese and pâté spread and a small bowl of black olives drizzled with olive oil and garlic. When I arrived around 7:30pm it was quiet as there were approximately 3 tables occupied but just past 8pm the place got a little busier and a little chattier and I noticed it was pretty much all locals which to me is a great indication of the food quality, specially in a country like Portugal which is well known for their delicious cuisine. I'm so glad I decided to finally give this place a try. I recommend and will definitely come back to try something else on the menu. Didn't get a chance to take a picture of the menu but next time I'll try to do so and add a photo to my review. read more
