Love it here. I LOVE it here. I REALLY LOVE IT HERE! My stylist is in the salon, and I was just so giddy about the entire concept when I first visited here! It's basically a ONE STOP SHOP for all your beauty needs. You can find someone to do your hair, nails, waxing, eyebrows, massages, facials...everything! I like how convenient it is for the clients and it seems like the stylists have an intimate space to initiate business. There are business cards at the entrance (maps, too!) and nice big, CLEAN restrooms (I just used the women's restroom) for clients to use. if you need a haircut and don't know where to go, try Sola Salons. iI's a modern, high end spot with lots of different hair stylists, and while most are already established businesses with their own book of business, many accept walk ins, which is perfect for people like me who may not always plan ahead. The studios are all individual and each has it's own entrance/suite number. There's also a map when you walk in to help you navigate. The place is pretty clean and if you want to try a new look or stylist, there's one right next door to your current place so it makes it easier to find a new stylist. I came here a few months ago and will be back. I did hear though that rent is expensive so expect haircuts to be $40+ so they can cover their rent and live as well. read more

This review is for Lisa! She does the best eyelashes ever! Not only that it's fuller, longer and lighter, it literally last longer then any other place I have been too. I've done it other places before and a lot of my lashes fell off and the glue they used irritated my skin. That will not happen with Lisa because she spend the time and money into her products for amazing results. I never thought getting lashes could make my morning routine so much easier but it does. Until last year I always dreamt of starting my own business. After dealing with different places and some mean people I was fortunate to bump into Marissa at Sola Salons of San Mateo. They were setting up this wonderful place near walgreens which was convenient to me and my client, has plenty of parking space ,calm and upscale for something right on el camino. David and Steve have been great and always addressed any problems I ever had. Rents are a bit pricey but looking at the infrastructure I think the place rocks. They allow you to put decals on the walls, choose the wall colors and have a consistent theme for all salons, so that the place maintains its niche looks. read more

I just went to tour this place two days ago, found that it was pretty charming and might be somewhere I would be interested in starting my business. I sat down with the manager to discuss and review paperwork and I gave him my deposit check. He told me that I had to wait 24 hours, as a cooling off period, in order to sign. I thought that was weird but ok, whatever, that's how he does business I guess. I tried calling him the next day (yesterday) afternoon and didn't get an answer so I left a message. This morning, I still hadn't heard anything back so I called (no answer again) and left another message. A few hours later, I try calling him from a different phone....he actually answered, confirming that he was blowing off my phone calls. I told him who I was and that I was touching base with him about the paperwork and he responded in such a rude tone and manner that I was actually caught off guard. He told me that he signed with two other people because he didn't hear back from me at 1:30 on the dot...I explained that he didn't give a deadline only stated that I had to wait a minimum of 24 hours to respond. He cuts me off by saying he's not going to argue with me, and hangs up on me. He also still has my check and made no attempt to return it to me. If you're looking to go into business for yourself, this is definitely not the place to do so, I have never in my life dealt with a fully grown adult acting that way, especially when conducting business. read more

I absolutly LOVE these Salons. I get a facial by Bridgette then my hair done after....they now have a manicurist so after my hair and facial I got a mani pedi also. Its basically a one stop shop. I heard they have a spray tan salon too, never tried it but im sure its amazing. My favorite salons in Sola are The Face and Body Studio and Hair By Dinna. Bridgette is absolutly amazing and very well educated about skin care. I used to see her even before Sola Salon opened up and I followed her here. She is just that good. Hair by Dinna, Well Dinna is simply AMAZING!!! She is known for her blowouts and extensions, but she does ALL hair types and she has so many years of experience that she literally , if anything she has fixed my hair when I tried another Salon one time because I liked the fact they carried Kerastase. i learned my lesson. You have to at least try her blowouts and ween yourself off of you hairstylist now! SHE IS THE BEST! Go to Sola and window shop you cant not get something done here ;) read more

Marianna, the owner of the Vivacious hair studio, located in Sola salon, on the El Camino in San Mateo, had been doing my hair for nearly 10 years, first at Ulta in San Mateo and now in her own "mini" studio. The concept of the Sola salon is basically one big storefront, with 20+ mini studios inside , each rented to a stylist who then can personalize his/her "space". I am able to get more personalized attention from Marianna now that other stylists or clients aren't jockeying for space or product . Marianna is in charge of her own schedule and able to accommodate me on a Sunday afternoon if she wants to. Marianna will go out of her way to get the right shade of purple for my highlights. She knows what needs to be done to my hair before I say anything , and when she says she needs to cut 1" off, it's really an 1". My hair gets many complements, even though I'm over 40 and have a headful of purple highlights. The studio is very cozy and comfortable. It is nice that you don't have to listen to 10 other conversations at the same time -my appointment is my time . Looking forward to many more years of good hair from Marianna. read more
