I followed Jenny from her previous salon because I dont trust just anyone with my hair. I have even moved across the bay and still choose to come to her for everything because she is that good. Anyone who says this salon is overpriced has truly not looked around at multiple places for the same services. If you want Supercuts prices, then by all means go there. The quality of service you get from Salon Sur La Rue and the handwork delivered is worth every penny... and know that it is not on the high end of the market. Jenny truly knows how to create the haircut and color exactly how I want it every time. I used to bring pictures for inspiration, and she always takes the time to let me know what will or wont work for me. Whether it is a full highlight fresh for summer, or cutting it a bit shorter than usual and adding tons of layers she is up for the challenge. The owner Amy always greets me with her welcoming smile and checks in on me during my visits. Such a sweet and friendly atmosphere adds to the charm of this place. She has also done my hair on a few occasions when Jenny was on vacation and I was very, very happy with her highlights and haircut too. This place has skills! Thank you Amy and Jenny for taking care of us gals. As long as you take good care of us, we will keep coming back again and again. When I leave, I always end up feeling prettier than when I walked in the door. And THAT means something to me. This salon gives great hair, and I am here for it!

I can confidently stand behind that. I have shared photos of my hair before and after, and the transformation speaks for itself. Alper and Veysel, thank you so much. Alper, I especially want to thank you for your hard work, talent, and attention to detail. I am absolutely thrilled with my hair. Everyone has been complimenting it and asking me where I had it done. I wanted to share my experience mainly so other parents are aware of the pricing before booking. I…read morebrought my 11-year-old daughter in for a haircut and was honestly shocked by how expensive the final cost was. Her haircut was $80, and because her hair is curly, I was charged an additional $65 just for the blow-dry, bringing her total to $145 for a child's haircut and blow-dry. My own haircut and blowout were $100, so I was especially surprised that my daughter's service ended up costing $45 more than mine. I understand that curly hair may require additional time, but I feel that a $65 additional charge should have been clearly communicated beforehand, especially when it brings an 11-year-old's haircut to nearly $150. The salon explained the pricing to me afterward, but I really wish the full cost had been explained before the service was performed. Parents should definitely ask for the complete price, including the blow-dry, before agreeing to the service so there are no surprises at checkout. Unfortunately, because of the pricing and lack of upfront communication about the additional charge, I cannot see myself returning to this salon.

Stellar Luna is such an appropriate name for this salon; if I could, I would give Kiera ALL OF THE…read moreSTARS on Yelp! I first found Kiera about 5 years ago when I was trying to pick a stylist to do my wedding hair cut/color. I had never gotten my hair colored before and I looked hard to find someone I could entrust with this tremendous task. After extensive research online, I found Kiera and I could not have made a better choice! Kiera did a phenomenal job - she crafted an absolutely perfect balayage and haircut that looked JUST like the reference photo I showed her. It was perfection. She is SO knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and knows how to make the color look naturally beautiful. I went back to her for my wedding hair and was equally stunned with the results (we added more highlights). I've been seeing Kiera since then and, not only does she always get the looks I want just right (even that one time I showed her Sleeping Beaty, the cartoon, for reference ), but she has the most AMAZING personality and is an all-around wonderful human. There is no one else I would rather do a 3-hour color treatment and haircut with. She is so fun to talk to and I always leave feeling refreshed in both hair style and spirit. Cut to a few years later - I was so excited when I found out Kiera had opened her own salon - and right at the onset of COVID no less! She has done such a great job with the place. Stellar Luna feels warm, welcoming, and has followed all COVID protocols for a safe-feeling visit every time. Not only that, but Kiera really takes the time to listen to what you want. She explains everything thoroughly, and works with you to make sure you achieve the style you're after. She is only satisfied if you are satisfied. If something is not exactly right, she works hard (and overtime!) to fix it. One time my toner went on a little too hard (after a break from hair coloring during COVID) and she immediately brought it to my attention and asked if I wanted it lightened more. She ended up doing a second round of balayage right then and there to make sure I got the exact lightness I wanted. Similarly, she goes above and beyond with hair cuts. I was unsure about the amount of texturizing I wanted on my latest bob and she insisted that she can either add texture at that same visit, or I could give it a week and if it's not right I could come back to add some texture. It ended up being perfect and she was right to hold off on texturizing, but I really appreciated the thought and care and the ability to text her if it wasn't quite right. She's also super receptive to questions I've texted her before a visit, including looking through a Pinterest board I created to see what I had in mind and advise ahead of time. I could go on forever, but in short, Kiera is AMAZING. You will not find a better colorist or a more caring and wonderful stylist! I love her to bits and would recommend her 1000 times over! Thank you Kiera!! (Photos attached from various sessions over the years)

I guess it's because there's a barbershop right next door and the main entrance to this salon is a bit smaller and less noticeable. I called to book an appointment and was surprised to get a prime Saturday time just a few days out. My hair was in desperate need of some TLC, and I was prepared to wait a few weeks, but was glad they could squeeze me in earlier. I was scheduled with Lyn, who is one of their senior stylists. She had me fill out an intake form, which is something that no other salon has ever had me do. I came prepared with some photo examples of what I wanted, so the whole experience was a little over an hour (they allot 1.5 hours for first time haircut). Lyn listened to what I wanted and also said I could come back within a week or two for any adjustments and they also offer a complimentary bang trim between appointments. She also gifted me a little welcome package with coupons and a couple hair product samples. The salon is much bigger than I thought. It goes quite deep and there's tiny rooms that separate people out, so it's not the typical open space layout. I liked how unique it was, not just the space, but the experience and the commute! I used to drive over to Daly City, but now I prefer to stay closer to home and I can get here by foot!
