I was hoping for beige highlights and got bright blonde. I asked for a refund and was only offered a "fix it at no cost". I declined. Intervention: Reached out to Vance who did my hair in the past. Don't ask me why I just didn't come back. Vance was able to see me pretty quick and did an AMAZING job!! He gave me beige highlights and darkened the base which I just love. I'm tanned skin so the blonde highlights was not flattering. Evaluation: I am forever grateful for Vance. He is very skilled at his craft. The result was exactly what I was hoping for from the very beginning when I stepped into the other salon. Note to self....i will never see any other stylist. I highly recommend Vance if you're looking for a highly skilled professional that will make you leave his chair feeling confident and amazing about your hair!!!

Her haircut was $80, and because her hair is curly, I was charged an additional $65 just for the blow-dry, bringing her total to $145 for a child's haircut and blow-dry. My own haircut and blowout were $100, so I was especially surprised that my daughter's service ended up costing $45 more than mine. I understand that curly hair may require additional time, but I feel that a $65 additional charge should have been clearly communicated beforehand, especially when it brings an 11-year-old's haircut to nearly $150. The salon explained the pricing to me afterward, but I really wish the full cost had been explained before the service was performed. Parents should definitely ask for the complete price, including the blow-dry, before agreeing to the service so there are no surprises at checkout. Unfortunately, because of the pricing and lack of upfront communication about the additional charge, I cannot see myself returning to this salon.

During that time, the staff kindly offered me water and snacks. If you appreciate a passionate stylist, I'd recommend asking for Leo. I loved how my transformation turned out. It came out the perfect ash milk tea, and it genuinely felt like he was proud of his work and the final result. I was also so happy that he kept the length of my hair. In the past, I've had stylists cut more than I wanted, which left me unhappy. He also took the time to style my hair afterward and gave me recommendations on how to maintain it at home. Yoriko has been my hair stylist for many years now and I have religiously followed her to her various salons. I was apprehensive about having to drive to San Carlos to follow her, but she is worth the extra drive. My entire family gets their hair done by her and we all love the extra care she gives to us. After she's done with us, we look amazing! Her new location at Studio La Vie in San Carlos is beautiful, well lit, and extremely comfortable feeling. A major plus is that there is free street parking and I've never had a problem finding a space. Yoriko was a gem to find those many years ago and I would highly recommend her. 5+ read more

Yoriko has been my hair stylist since I moved back from Chicago in mid -90's (oh, my!). Despite of long career, she always keeps up with trends and new techniques. I constantly get compliments about my hair from my family members, friends, business associates, acquaintances, even strangers. I tried hair dressers in Chicago, San Francisco, Tokyo, and cruise ships (out of necessity). I tell you "Yoriko is MY hair dresser."
