I went to Salon Stilo for a haircut and did not like that my stylist was late for the appointment. She did a decent job with the layered cut and curtain bangs, and the price was $90, which felt reasonable for the area. She did not ask for tips and only charged the base price. You do not often see that anymore, so I asked how to leave a tip and she showed me. She was nice and easy to talk to. The salon was clean, although they did not use the most luxurious products. I have been looking into many salons for a Qiqi treatment. Saw so many positive reviews on Salon Stilo and decided to proceed with them. I live in Carmel, about two and half hours away from the salon so upon making the appointment I made sure to tell them that. They were very honored that I would make the drive, I placed the deposit. The day of the apt which was at noon, I left my house at around 0700 to be in Burlingame in time and to give myself enough time for possible traffic. At around ten am I got a text saying, " Hi, mam, I am your Qiqi specialist, I woke up with a fever." The punctuation nor the apology was there or my next steps. I was already in Burlingame at that time. About fifteen minutes later I get a call from the salon stating the same and they did apologize, told me they would take care of me. She messaged me a few minutes later and asked for my Venmo in order to return my deposit I placed. She did return my deposit and offered me a whopping 15 percent discount for next time. Qiqi is a relaxant, it requires no hair washing and careful care of your hair for the next couple of days.I have allotted a weekday and my weekend to this hair treatment. They did not offer another time for me nor enough of a discount for me to come back to them. I've spent about 120 dollars just in gas to come up. If this is how customers are "taken care of" i dont want to be their client. I would accept a 50 percent discount on the service, 15 isn't even the tip. A sincere apology and request for another appointment with a better discount would have gone a long way. read more

Courtney Chow, an exceptional color artist at Salon Stilo, was recommended to me by one of her clients. I initially reached out via the Salon Stilo website. The staff got back to me within 24-hours via text message, which made the process easy. As a new client, I was required to visit the Salon for a 15-minute consultation. At first, I was apprehensive about the consult, not wanting to do it. I was impatient and wanted my hair done as soon as practical. However, after my consult I learned to TRUST THE SYSTEM!   Upon arrival for the consult, I was offered coffee, tea, or water. I then met Courtney. She assessed the condition of my hair in person and we went over the inspiration photos I had sent via text message during scheduling. I told her my vision, I asked for her opinion and we came up with a plan. I booked an appointment for two weeks later while at the Salon. Fast forward two weeks and Courtney had everything prepared when I arrived.  I had not had my hair done since before the pandemic, late 2019. Aware of this, Courtney alotted extra time to ensure my comfort.  She set aside 4-hours just for me, during which I received a full color correction, including lightener and lowlights, a melt, toner, shampoo, conditioner, a hair treatment with B3, a cut, and a style. I also purchased a leave in conditioner from the Salon per her recommendation.  Courtney is a very genuine person. She is non-judgmental, polite, and warm hearted. She did a fantastic job on my color and cut, providing a peaceful and relaxing experience. Worth noting that Courtney was friendly but never forced a conversation,  something I appreciate. She is all around lovely. Salon Stilo is lucky to have her and so am I. After doing a lot of research on salons in my area, I finally decided on Salon Stilo for my first haircut in FIVE YEARS (My hair had become naturally curly in the last few years, and I wanted to see how it would grow out). Monica Nguyen cut my hair. She was super friendly and was very honest with me on how much I had to take off the ends. Though I was reluctant to cut off so much, my hair feels so much healthier now and I love the layers she added. She also styled it at the end with a curling iron. After a subpar experience at another local salon that ended with a truly unfortunate hair cut, Natalia saved my hair! She's so so good! My appointment was cancelled on the day of due to an emergency. I would think they should have called to make sure the client received the text messsge. I had a busy morning and didn't have time to check my messages. I rushed to my appointment and was told my appointment was cancelled and had to be rescheduled. They reached out by text but didn't try to make sure that it was received. It is very annoying because they kept sending messages out about 48 hour cancellation policy but what if the stylist had to cancel on client? I would just like them to make sure that they reach out to everyone and make sure they received the message. I am really annoyed because it just doesn't seem like they care. read more

I did my hair with Mola. I have long dark brown hair and my hair is naturally thinning due to genetics. I wanted to go blonde and asked for a cooler hue of a blonde balayage. Mola did the most amazing job ever! It is on the more expensive side but very well deserved. My hair did not break nor dry. She really took her time even though I showed up late. She is extremely understanding and easy to talk to. My hair did not thin more and I can even say I didn't notice any damage from the bleach. I told her that I live pretty far and may not come in on time for maintenance and she made sure my hair would grow out nicely with the blonde. This review is for Maria who does magic to my hair! I got a haircut in early 2021 and then a Brazilian blow out in Dec. I came here back in May to fix the wreck of a haircut I gave myself during quarantine and I saw Salon Stilo on ClassPass (but Salon Stilo is no longer on it) so I decided to give it a try and I'm soooo glad I did because I'm never going somewhere else to get my hair cut. No one touches my hair except for Maria! I have very coarse wavy hair and lots of it so definitely not an easy task to make it look good. I just told Maria to give me some layers and face framing pieces and when I say she understood the assignment - she UNDERSTOOD THE ASSIGNMENT. At the end of the cut, my ends looked so healthy and I'm consistently catching myself looking at my reflection cos I'm in LOVE with my hair. I asked her if she has any tips for frizz as well since that's unavoidable when you have wavy hair and she suggested a Brazilian blow out, so of course I got one because I trust her 1000% with my hair. I was referred by a friend and decided this is the place that will add color to my 13 year old who has never had color in her hair. I admit I was nervous, growing up I was not allowed to alter/modify anything about me. But given that it's 2021 and she brought straight A+'s (one A) home I had to fulfill her desire. A few years back, I had my hair done at another salon and the technique they used just wasn't suited for my virgin hair. The whole process had me sitting in the chair for far too long, it ended up damaging my hair plus the color was just incredibly brassy when I was going for an ash blonde. In a panic, I reached out to Mola and she came to the rescue! She was mindful to allow some time to pass so that my hair wouldn't be over processed (even though I was dying to get my hair fixed ASAP!) She was able to fix it and get it to the color I wanted. This review is for Mola. I have been going to her for more than 10 years! This says a lot because I have never stayed with the same stylist for more than 2 years. Mola is super passionate about her craft and she's damn good at it! She is meticulous, detailed orientated, and ensures you do not leave until your hair looks perfect. If you somehow don't like something (you won't have many of those times trust me) she will be more than happy to fix the issue. Yes, there is a premium you'd have to pay, but do not be turned off by the pricing. There is a reason why stylists price things the way they do. Think about all the hours they are on their feet to do our hair, all the continuing education so they can provide you the best hair care, and all the other backend stuff we don't see. And as cliche as it sounds, you pay for what you get. Mola is worth every penny. She has done magic on my hair. From being dark to blonde, to dusty lavender, to blonde again. You know you found a keeper when people not only ask you who did your hair when you first get it done, but asks what color I dyed my hair--AFTER a whole year has gone by. A great stylist can color your hair, but also knows how to make it grow/fade out nicely as well. Aside from being one of my favorite stylist, I also feel like I'm always talking to a friend. I've been salon hopping for a while before I've finally found Salon Stilo! I have been coming here for over a year now and am happy with my hair every time - trust me, it has gone wrong so many times before!!! My go-to hair stylist is Monica Nguyen (for both balayage and cut). She is very professional and knows exactly what she is doing. For my very first balayage, I first had a quick consultation with her where I showed her pictures of what I envisioned my hair color to look like. I had my hair colored a few times before (with some fouls) and Monica was very quick to let me know if my ideal color was feasible. She also explained the entire process to me very clearly and made sure I understood it. Balayage at Salon Stilo worked a little differently than the salons that I have visited before as they also do a top root melt to make the transition more natural. I had never heard of this before but Monica made sure to let me know beforehand. I have naturally dark hair and so my biggest fear is that my hair would look brassy as I want to go lighter. Monica always manages to make my hair ashy and super pretty. I also have A LOT of hair, to which I have had previous hair stylists comment rudely about before since it takes a lot of patience for them to style it. Monica has always been able to cut and style my hair patiently, and never makes me feel bad for having thick hair! :) I have also come back for an at-home toner kit during the pandemic, and was able to get an ashy color the next day to tone my hair at home. After reading all the positive reviews I am very disappointed with my experience. I asked for a simple ashy brown color with lowlights and ended up getting borderline RED frizzy hair. I paid over $400 to look like I went to Walgreens and got a do-it-yourself hair dye. I went back to ask for a toner and the girl that did it looked like she was in a hurry and told me she didn't have time to dry my hair so I would have to leave the salon with soaking wet hair. It was so bad that I asked her for a blow dryer and I HAD TO DRY MY OwN HAIR. I ended up having to go to another salon and paid over $200 to get the color fixed and toned down. read more

I have been going to Mola for two years now and every time just keeps getting better and better.. and my hair keeps getting lighter and lighter! My sister and I have followed her from two other salons, but now she's the owner of this salon (yay!) so she'll probably be here for a while! And if she ever relocates again... we're coming with her! I don't think I've ever come out of the salon unsatisfied with my hair. Mola always does a great job with my hair even when I'm indecisive with what I want. She knows what I like and how my hair is. She's always honest and lets me know if I can achieve a certain color/look in one session and how she's gonna go about it. Honestly, I just let her work her magic because I know it'll turn out fantastic no matter what she does. My most recent makeover was the most drastic change I've ever had and even though I was super scared, it ended up looking awesome! I requested an appointment and Shannon emailed me back really quickly and efficiently. She has emailed me about my current hair condition inspiration photos. I came in with a bad balayage from another salon (Studio 7 Hair Loft) and they were able to take me in the same day due to a cancellation! They did what my ex-stylist made excuses for, they did a root, lowlights, bleached my bangs to match and toned it to a gray/ash silver. My hair came out SO SOFT! Much healthier than when I went in. The building is actually very nice and spacious, lots of beautiful natural lighting and they have snacks and drinks. Great music selection. Only thing that sucks is metered parking, but the ladies understand and will let you get up and fill your meter as needed. Moira even let me use her phone charger!! (: the customer service was AMAZING! Anyways, my hair was fried and yellow after a bad color last Friday and I showed them the same picture I showed my last stylist and they were immediately able to see what he did wrong and how to fix it. They were honest about what they could do, how light it would be, etc. Their communication was ON POINT! I was in distress because my graduation was on Tuesday, so I really thought I wouldn't be able to fix it. ): but every step of the process, the ladies at Salon Stilo were amazing!! Also, lots of good salon gossip too, they made me feel extremely welcome. (; I will definitely be coming back and you should give them a try! The prices are definitely warranted, you won't be disappointed. They have a huge product selection and will even give you samples! They're all very talented and work so well as a team. Before I came to Salon Stilo, my "hair" looked like straw...perfect for Fall I guess, since it blended right in with the shit you see at the Pumpkin Patch. I spent 7.5 hours on my day off at the salon, but it was well worth it. Rachel took care of me, and while she only worked at this particular salon since March, she has 10 years of experience working with hair. She's really nice and friendly, but most importantly she actually cared about my hair. I had originally scheduled an appointment to bleach my hair even lighter, but Rachel examined my hair and told me that I had to cut off all the dead hair since it was stringy and breaking off....ya girl wasn't happy after hearing that, but I guess deep down I kinda knew it had to be done cause my hair got fucked up at the previous salon that I went to. So from there on out, it was bye bye to 6 inches of my hair :( Both Rachel and Mola also recommended that instead of putting bleach on my ends, it would be better to just use a high-lift color. Basically, during the whole process, she did everything with the integrity of my hair in mind. I love Rachel for that! She also always made sure I was comfortable and constantly asked if I needed any drinks or if I needed to use the restroom. Everyone at Salon Stilo works as a team and I love it. Fast forward to when my hair was done, the color is light and my hair is still HEALTHY AS FUUUUCK! I haven't had healthy hair in so long, it made me so happy.
