I wanted to share my experience mainly so other parents are aware of the pricing before booking. I brought my 11-year-old daughter in for a haircut and was honestly shocked by how expensive the final cost was. Her haircut was $80, and because her hair is curly, I was charged an additional $65 just for the blow-dry, bringing her total to $145 for a child's haircut and blow-dry. My own haircut and blowout were $100, so I was especially surprised that my daughter's service ended up costing $45 more than mine. I understand that curly hair may require additional time, but I feel that a $65 additional charge should have been clearly communicated beforehand, especially when it brings an 11-year-old's haircut to nearly $150. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience so others can make an informed decision. I booked my appointment with high expectations and clearly discussed the hair color I wanted. Unfortunately, the final result was completely different from what we had agreed upon. Instead of leaving excited, I left stressed and disappointed. What made the experience even worse was the timing. I had an important event that weekend, and because the color was so far from what I requested, I had to schedule corrective color services on short notice. Not only was this incredibly inconvenient, but it also meant spending additional time and money to fix something that should have been done correctly the first time. Afterward, I reached out to both the stylist ( Alper Ismail) and the salon, hoping they would stand behind their work. The stylist offered a $75 "goodwill" refund, which I accepted only because it helped offset a small portion of the corrective services. However, it came nowhere close to covering the cost of fixing my hair. [[HIGHLIGHT]]More disappointing was the salon's response--they didn't seem interested in addressing my concerns or finding a fair resolution. Disappointing...[[HIGHLIGHT]]Alpher Ismail blocked me on Instagram after I called him out for his MISLEADING personal advertisement that he had posted on Instagram.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] His AD stated that Balayages are $245. I DM'd because that intrigued me as a potential customer as it's more on the affordable end compared to some salons I've gone to in the past. When Dm'ing , I was showing a bunch of different balayage inspo images I was gravitating towards along with the current state of my hair as he requested which is totally normal but then... Alpher said "...the balayage, color, and toner will be $645". Why is your ad saying it's $245 and now it's gone up $400 for what a Balayage process already should include? A balayage process is literally bleaching, color/toner, foils, etc.. why is he stating that the style itself is like a separate thing of $245 & then the color/bleach and toner would somehow be $400 leading to a grand total of $645? I called him out saying that his ad is misleading and if there are additional fees, to state it in the AD because a $400 jump is actually almost scamming customers who think they're spending HALF of what he jumped it to... This review is for my OUTSTANDING COLORIST: RICKY RUIZ. He's been doing my hair since early 2019. I started seeing him at SF with his talented assistant Dominique. But then when he moved here at Peninsula, it was a great news for me because its more convenient for me. My hair was black and very loooong (below my butt lol). I wanted to do balayage and my goal was to have an ash blonde (but that goal changed now ) He explained to me what will be the process and etc since its my first time to have someone dye my hair professionally. He is very patient with my TONS of questions. Since i have an asian hair, he told me it will take a lot of sessions before we can achieve the goal. (Which i can understand) My usual chair time is 3-4 hours he makes sure I'm comfortable by offering some drinks and checking if im okay. Ricky has gentle hands so dont worry about getting you hair get pulled! He bleached/balayage/painted my hair more than 3 times but my hair DOES NOT LOOK DAMAGED AT ALL! And well blended colors! I get a lot of compliments of my hair because of its color and healthy-looking hair. Each time I see him, my hair gets lighter ever more! I've been on a bleach & tone kick for the last 2 years, but unfortunately It took me a full year to find Ricky! My previous colorist gave me the most hideous "chemical cut" with bleach. I mean I had a 3" Mohawk! Thanks to Ricky and his magic, that mohawk has grown way past my shoulders, all while achieving a lighter, more even platinum! I wish I had something better to share. My go-to salon was busy so I opted to give this place a try. I called and said I had long hair and needed a bang trim and layers. I asked how much and she said $65 and that they were able to take me that day. The salon is located in Burlingame Ave., inside a building, street parking only. The salon is beautiful, a clean, modern, spacious, coffee/tea light refreshments. My stylist Linda was extremely sweet and the staff had excellent customer service. Overall I was pleased with my hair cut. The moment when I went to pay the receptionist said, I hope the website doesn't say $65, and if I quoted you wrong over the phone I am sorry but Linda's hair cuts are starting at $90. What?!? Really..ok...because Linda was extremely nice I just paid and left. I completely felt mislead and I will take my business elsewhere. read more

I have been trying to find my "go-to" stylist/colorist after ditching my previous one cuz she wasn't achieving the colors I'd request. Finally after seeing a lot of Carlyne's work on social media, I emailed her to schedule an appointment. She kindly informed me that she would have another appointment during my time slot just for a blow dry so she'd have to step away from me for awhile. I really appreciated the heads up and didn't mind at all. When I came in for my appt, we had a brief consultation of what color and cut I wanted. It also helped to show pics of what you like to help her visually see what kind of results you want. Carlyne kept me entertained the whole time and happily answered any questions I had during the process. After bleaching my hair and washing out the color application, she blew dry it to show how the color turned out. It was a little lighter than I had liked and I'm usually shy or feel bad to speak up about making any changes, but Carlyne was totally understanding and didn't mind to go back and add more color to darken it more. I'm so glad she was patient through it all, she was so thorough and meticulous during the coloring process. After more time of processing, she achieved a color that I liked. I also got a haircut so she chopped it at a good length I was comfortable with and got out all my split/dead ends! I really appreciated that she checked in with me to make sure everything she was doing was fine with me. Great communication the whole time really matters when it comes to making sure you're getting your moneys worth. I am very pleased with the end result and plan on seeing her again! Pricing is also pretty fair compared to other salons in the area, but also keep in mind that it'll of course vary on the type of service you get! Parking shouldn't be a hassle, but I do recommend parking at the all day lot for only $3 versus $2 per hour at the meters. I have fine hair that needs a precise cut and Elaine has the required skills to make it work for me after I get home. I arrived ten minutes early, and Carlyne seated me right away. She was friendly, polite, and professional. I told her immediately that I was on a bit of a time crunch, and would be happy with a blow dry and maybe a bit of curl if time allowed. My co-worker raved about this place quite often and by the results of her hair, I thought this salon was worth trying because my hair needed some work done. I had orange roots while the rest of my hair was either yellow, white or a golden brown (which I hated). I was always embarrassed to walk in public, so I thought I needed to give my hair some love. I booked my appointment in May not knowing what to expect since my hair was very discolored and I needed help FAST. A friend of mines burned my scalp before while trying to bleach my hair and I couldn't take the bleach anymore, so I rinsed everything off before everything was an even blonde. My stylist was Shawna (Shauna?) for the day and she was amazing! When I arrived, the receptionist checked me in and offered me water, but I refused since I already had my own water with me but everyone was so friendly and they really do care about their customers! I had to wait a bit since Shawna was coloring her hair (and the results were great!) I sat down for an extra 5-20 minutes before she came to fix my hair, but I didn't mind because the place came with free wi-fi! When it was time for my hair to be done, Shawna asked me what I wanted to do. At first, I told her that I wanted to go platinum blonde all over my head, but she said it would be a bad idea since there was breakage in my hair, as well as my hair being very brittle and weak. So what she did was toned the rest of my roots to a yellow-platinum color which I loved a lot, but I wished she did it to the rest of my hair. She told me the color would fade away in a few washes, but still, it looked great! While she was processing my hair, we had a great conversation about how she became a colorist, as well as little things about life (and by how she spoke to me, she loves her job). She also recommended me a blue shampoo to help tone my hair weekly to get the yellow-platinum color back. While the bleach was in my hair, my scalp was irritating me a lot. She did say that if it did irritate my scalp, she would take it off immediately, but I said it was fine. There came to be a point where I did want to take off the bleach / toner since my scalp was burning and I couldn't sit still anymore. When it was time to pay, my total came to around $250, but I gave her a $20 tip and I got a free shampoo and conditioner set to help strengthen my hair. I thought they would have charged me a bit less since I didn't get a full blow out like I asked to, but my roots were only toned. When I came home, I did notice that parts of my head had a chemical burn (my fault for not saying anything to her). I do like this salon, but I think I'll go there when my hair needs a major do-over. read more

I am so happy Ricky has days on the Peninsula now because For the past 3-4 years I've formerly been driving from San Mateo, dealing w downtown parking, to get my hair colored because I think he's the best in the whole city! I came here for my first experience getting a balayage. I wanted something very professional and was hoping the girl I was going to get my hair done by was good as other people said she was. I found most of her work through Instagram and was so excited to book an appointment with her. Trying to find where the place was an adventure as its in a building on the top floor. It's just like any other salon and nicely modeled. I got my balayage done by Joice. I didnt really feel a friendly vibe from her and I tried to keep conversation going to avoid awkwardness. The thing I didn't really like was that I would've had to put more money down for her to blow dry my hair? Foreal? Like I've never heard of something like that. I said nah I'm good I'll save my money and blow dry it myself. At the end I wanted her to curl my hair and she asked where I was going? Like does it really matter tho? She curled my hair and I couldn't really tell what work she did to it. Keep in mind my hair isn't black, so I thought it wasn't going to be this difficult to get to a lighter color. It got to a brassy color, but I wasn't impressed. I had high expectations coming into this salon. Spending $250 for not great service and no actual results. So i went from hair down to my rib cage to hair length just above my collarbone. I also did the express keratin treatment. I've gotten so many compliments and I just got my cut on Sunday. I love coming to this salon. Alex is very friendly and an amazing hair stylist/cutter . Heather is my favorite hair colorist , she is wonderful I 've been following her for several years. Both of them are amazing . Rene was the one who had done a blow dry and style at the end. He did a great job, he even stayed longer after hours for me. This is a review for Ellyse. My gauge for a good cut and color is how well it looks as it grows out and the color changes. This is very important to me, because with three kids, work and everything in between, I don't have time to hang out at salons very often.
