I've been living in the Bay Area for two years, and I am so happy and grateful to have finally found the best hair salon. I truly feel that I entrusted my hair to very skilled, professional, and trustworthy hands. I cannot even describe how happy and satisfied I am with the results. I genuinely and highly recommend this salon to everyone. A special thank you to Alper for doing my hair, to Veysel, the owner, and to the entire team. They are all incredibly friendly, kind, energetic, and welcoming people. This is truly a salon that I would recommend to anyone. It's a place where everyone can leave happy with the results. I can confidently stand behind that. I have shared photos of my hair before and after, and the transformation speaks for itself. Alper and Veysel, thank you so much. Alper, I especially want to thank you for your hard work, talent, and attention to detail. I am absolutely thrilled with my hair. Everyone has been complimenting it and asking me where I had it done. I'm so glad I found you, and I'm so happy I chose your salon for my hair. Thank you all for your wonderful service. I truly appreciate everything you have done for me! read more

I wanted to share my experience mainly so other parents are aware of the pricing before booking. I brought my 11-year-old daughter in for a haircut and was honestly shocked by how expensive the final cost was. Her haircut was $80, and because her hair is curly, I was charged an additional $65 just for the blow-dry, bringing her total to $145 for a child's haircut and blow-dry. My own haircut and blowout were $100, so I was especially surprised that my daughter's service ended up costing $45 more than mine. I understand that curly hair may require additional time, but I feel that a $65 additional charge should have been clearly communicated beforehand, especially when it brings an 11-year-old's haircut to nearly $150. The salon explained the pricing to me afterward, but I really wish the full cost had been explained before the service was performed. Parents should definitely ask for the complete price, including the blow-dry, before agreeing to the service so there are no surprises at checkout. Unfortunately, because of the pricing and lack of upfront communication about the additional charge, I cannot see myself returning to this salon. read more

I don't usually leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience so others can make an informed decision. I booked my appointment with high expectations and clearly discussed the hair color I wanted. Unfortunately, the final result was completely different from what we had agreed upon. Instead of leaving excited, I left stressed and disappointed. What made the experience even worse was the timing. I had an important event that weekend, and because the color was so far from what I requested, I had to schedule corrective color services on short notice. Not only was this incredibly inconvenient, but it also meant spending additional time and money to fix something that should have been done correctly the first time. Afterward, I reached out to both the stylist ( Alper Ismail) and the salon, hoping they would stand behind their work. The stylist offered a $75 "goodwill" refund, which I accepted only because it helped offset a small portion of the corrective services. However, it came nowhere close to covering the cost of fixing my hair. More disappointing was the salon's response--they didn't seem interested in addressing my concerns or finding a fair resolution. I felt dismissed rather than valued as a customer. I hope this feedback encourages the salon to take client concerns more seriously. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this salon. read more

Alex is an amazing hair stylist. He intuitively knows what to do with my hair, which speaks to his long experience. He's also very quick even though I have shoulder length hair (and a lot of it!). Last but not least he's really easy to schedule with, which is great for anyone with a busy schedule. The salon's vibe is very relaxed and friendly as well. That's a winning combination!! read more

Salon Le Rouge - Hair cut with Alex - Hair Salons Near Me - Burlingame, California

It's clear that Alex intuitively understands how a hairstyle harmonizes with the shape of a person's face, beard, etc. This means that the result you get from him is a level above what you get somewhere else. It is going to be custom tailored to complement your appearance specifically. I tried to articulate what I disliked about my previous haircut and he immediately understood, and explained what it needed. I showed him a few reference photos of what I like, what style looks good on me, and he just absolutely nailed it. Also, I have no idea how he does this, but when I got home and hopped in the shower to rinse off the bits of hair you always get after a haircut... there just weren't any. You can walk out of his salon without needing to shower or change your shirt. Just impressive attention to detail. read more

Disappointing...Alpher Ismail blocked me on Instagram after I called him out for his MISLEADING personal advertisement that he had posted on Instagram. His AD stated that Balayages are $245. I DM'd because that intrigued me as a potential customer as it's more on the affordable end compared to some salons I've gone to in the past. When Dm'ing , I was showing a bunch of different balayage inspo images I was gravitating towards along with the current state of my hair as he requested which is totally normal but then... Alpher said "...the balayage, color, and toner will be $645". Why is your ad saying it's $245 and now it's gone up $400 for what a Balayage process already should include? A balayage process is literally bleaching, color/toner, foils, etc.. why is he stating that the style itself is like a separate thing of $245 & then the color/bleach and toner would somehow be $400 leading to a grand total of $645? I called him out saying that his ad is misleading and if there are additional fees, to state it in the AD because a $400 jump is actually almost scamming customers who think they're spending HALF of what he jumped it to... Not here to ruin his business because I think he is great at his work but I am pretty shocked at how this "professional of 20 years" responded by blocking me rather than explaining why it would jump to that price out of nowhere and not correcting his AD. Misleading to grab customers tbh.. Please do better. Trust is built with existing and potential clients. read more

Nice salon with glass and light to fill the space with an airy feel. I have been coming here regularly for 2 years since my hairdresser rented a station. This review is for my OUTSTANDING COLORIST: RICKY RUIZ. He's been doing my hair since early 2019. I started seeing him at SF with his talented assistant Dominique. But then when he moved here at Peninsula, it was a great news for me because its more convenient for me. My hair was black and very loooong (below my butt lol). I wanted to do balayage and my goal was to have an ash blonde (but that goal changed now ) He explained to me what will be the process and etc since its my first time to have someone dye my hair professionally. He is very patient with my TONS of questions. Since i have an asian hair, he told me it will take a lot of sessions before we can achieve the goal. (Which i can understand) My usual chair time is 3-4 hours he makes sure I'm comfortable by offering some drinks and checking if im okay. Ricky has gentle hands so dont worry about getting you hair get pulled! He bleached/balayage/painted my hair more than 3 times but my hair DOES NOT LOOK DAMAGED AT ALL! And well blended colors! I get a lot of compliments of my hair because of its color and healthy-looking hair. Each time I see him, my hair gets lighter ever more! TO THOSE WHO ARE SEEKING THE BEST COLORIST PLEASE VISIT RICKY RUIZ! He will make your hair LOOK BOMB Also Ricky is a very hard working person! He books people as early at 6:30am! I book right after my visit with him because he has a VERY crazy/busy schedule. but you can also set a schedule at BOOKSY app. He is very friendly and easy to chat with! I never had an awkward conversation with him. Pricing is fair for me because I have thick hair. He gives me treatment every time I visit which is included with the balayage/bleach process/baby highlights. But, I think it varies because mine was on the pricey side due to my long and thick a$$ hair. He blew dry my hair after the lightening process and styles it whichever preference I want. Includes curling, flat iron and braid (braids are only at SF. Dominique does the CLEANEST BRAID EVER!) Salon is big and neat! The bathroom spacious and neat as well. I park at the street because it allows cards but you can also park behind the salon if you have quarters. Parking isn't bad there's a lot of parking. I forgot how much i paid but i think its a 1$ per hour which is not bad compared to SF downtown. Check out his page at Instagram: @paintedbyricky you'll see his hair creations! read more

Well... if you're looking for THEE BEST colorist around, go see Ricky Ruiz at Salon Le Rouge. I've been on a bleach & tone kick for the last 2 years, but unfortunately It took me a full year to find Ricky! My previous colorist gave me the most hideous "chemical cut" with bleach. I mean I had a 3" Mohawk! Thanks to Ricky and his magic, that mohawk has grown way past my shoulders, all while achieving a lighter, more even platinum! I used to see him in SF, but Le Rouge is so much more convenient (coming from the East Bay). He really is the bees knees y'all, and take it from me. I've been to a LOT of colorists! read more

Ricky Ruiz... an amazing human being and an amazing hair specialist! Ricky is the sweetest, knowledgeable, creative and talented hair specialist I've met by far! Your hair will be in great hands! He always strives to keep your hair as healthy ass possible while achieving your desired look (especially if your hair is naturally dark and you want to go light). I have done three sessions with Ricky and it's safe to say that if I went else where who would've don't it in one session I'd damn near have no hair left. So thank you Ricky for the pleasant convos and my new hair you kept in tact haha! Can't wait for further tones/colors with you! read more

I wish I had something better to share. My go-to salon was busy so I opted to give this place a try. I called and said I had long hair and needed a bang trim and layers. I asked how much and she said $65 and that they were able to take me that day. The salon is located in Burlingame Ave., inside a building, street parking only. The salon is beautiful, a clean, modern, spacious, coffee/tea light refreshments. My stylist Linda was extremely sweet and the staff had excellent customer service. Overall I was pleased with my hair cut. The moment when I went to pay the receptionist said, I hope the website doesn't say $65, and if I quoted you wrong over the phone I am sorry but Linda's hair cuts are starting at $90. What?!? Really..ok...because Linda was extremely nice I just paid and left. I completely felt mislead and I will take my business elsewhere. read more

I've been coming to Angie for almost a year now when she was at another location and I had just virgin black hair. I was so nervous back then since I hadn't had my hair colored in over 6 years and never found someone I trust with my hair either. She is an amazing colorist and so genuinely sweet. She'll make you feel so comfortable. The gorgeous work she does over and over again proves why you can sit confidently in her chair. read more

Angie is a hair God! Her work is gorgeous! She is very popular on the Peninsula and has lots of experience with Asian/Hispanic hair. When people compliment my hair, as soon as I begin to say Angie...they finish with "does my hair!" I live in SF but go out of the city to get my hair done by her, although Burlingame isn't too far out. Angie is such a talented colorist and did exactly what I had asked for. She is also a sweetheart and makes you feel very comfortable during your appointment. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and I was beyond happy with the results. Review is for Angie I've been a loyal customer to Angie ever since I found her about 2-3 years ago! I love how Angie listens to everything that I want. I always ask her for her input also on how we should do my hair and she always does an amazing job. I've came across other hair stylist who would say yes they can do what I want but never comes out the way I want it. But with Angie she's honest with me, such as being able to get me to a certain color or how many sessions it will have to take to get to the color that I want. read more

I have been trying to find my "go-to" stylist/colorist after ditching my previous one cuz she wasn't achieving the colors I'd request. Finally after seeing a lot of Carlyne's work on social media, I emailed her to schedule an appointment. She kindly informed me that she would have another appointment during my time slot just for a blow dry so she'd have to step away from me for awhile. I really appreciated the heads up and didn't mind at all. When I came in for my appt, we had a brief consultation of what color and cut I wanted. It also helped to show pics of what you like to help her visually see what kind of results you want. Carlyne kept me entertained the whole time and happily answered any questions I had during the process. After bleaching my hair and washing out the color application, she blew dry it to show how the color turned out. It was a little lighter than I had liked and I'm usually shy or feel bad to speak up about making any changes, but Carlyne was totally understanding and didn't mind to go back and add more color to darken it more. I'm so glad she was patient through it all, she was so thorough and meticulous during the coloring process. After more time of processing, she achieved a color that I liked. I also got a haircut so she chopped it at a good length I was comfortable with and got out all my split/dead ends! I really appreciated that she checked in with me to make sure everything she was doing was fine with me. Great communication the whole time really matters when it comes to making sure you're getting your moneys worth. I am very pleased with the end result and plan on seeing her again! Pricing is also pretty fair compared to other salons in the area, but also keep in mind that it'll of course vary on the type of service you get! Parking shouldn't be a hassle, but I do recommend parking at the all day lot for only $3 versus $2 per hour at the meters. It's about 2 blocks down on Primrose but the walk isn't bad at all. read more

This review is for Angie! She is absolutely fantastic. She does exactly what I envision and more! My hair is thick, coarse and especially stubborn when it comes to color. Out of all the stylists I've been to, she is the only one that got my hair to a level of blonde I couldn't have ever imagined, all while keeping the integrity of my hair. I still get compliments on my cut and color even when it has grown out several months. I drive all the way from Sacramento just to have her do my hair, and I think it's worth every penny. read more

Gone to others and always return to Elaine at Le Rouge. It's a bit of a drive for me, but worth every penny. I have fine hair that needs a precise cut and Elaine has the required skills to make it work for me after I get home. Forget the the great ambiance and any other lovely perks, cause they have that too, if that's your thing. For me, what is most important, the cut has to fall attractively after I wash it. Elaine makes it possible. Hands down (or clapping) she's a magician with the scissors who can even cut hair precisely while dancing, but that's another story that you must ask her. What more could any client want. read more

Got an appointment here on short notice because my usual salon didn't have any openings. My appointment was for a cut and style on the day of my baby shower. Carlyne was my stylist. I arrived ten minutes early, and Carlyne seated me right away. She was friendly, polite, and professional. I told her immediately that I was on a bit of a time crunch, and would be happy with a blow dry and maybe a bit of curl if time allowed. My hair was perfect, exactly what I wanted, and finished by the time I needed to go. Including a 20% tip, cost $60, which I thought was very reasonable compared to many of the salons in the area, including the one I usually go to. I will definitely be back! read more

I finally found someone who knows how to do blonde in the peninsula!!! I can't believe it! And I'm talking about that bright beautiful pearly blonde that so many colorists say will ruin your hair. PLEASE....any kind of hair color if done incorrectly can dry and damage your hair. I've tried so many colorists in the Bay Area and no one even came close to having the knowledge that Ricky Ruiz does when it comes to bleach. He can take your hair and turn it into a gorgeous icy blonde without ruining the integrity of it. That is a RARE thing to find !!!!! All you bright blondes out there know what I'm talking about.. I've had my hair broken and destroyed to many times to count because i trusted the wrong people and it was mismanaged. I'm so impressed with Ricky and how he makes it look so easy peazy. He has a great personality too, I love sitting there catching up and cracking jokes. I leave with a big smile on my face ! :) He is a true Gem.. Thank you Ricky !!!! read more

Salon Le Rouge - Hair By Ricky Ruiz - Hair Salons Near Me - Burlingame, California

My co-worker raved about this place quite often and by the results of her hair, I thought this salon was worth trying because my hair needed some work done. I had orange roots while the rest of my hair was either yellow, white or a golden brown (which I hated). I was always embarrassed to walk in public, so I thought I needed to give my hair some love. I booked my appointment in May not knowing what to expect since my hair was very discolored and I needed help FAST. A friend of mines burned my scalp before while trying to bleach my hair and I couldn't take the bleach anymore, so I rinsed everything off before everything was an even blonde. My stylist was Shawna (Shauna?) for the day and she was amazing! When I arrived, the receptionist checked me in and offered me water, but I refused since I already had my own water with me but everyone was so friendly and they really do care about their customers! I had to wait a bit since Shawna was coloring her hair (and the results were great!) I sat down for an extra 5-20 minutes before she came to fix my hair, but I didn't mind because the place came with free wi-fi! When it was time for my hair to be done, Shawna asked me what I wanted to do. At first, I told her that I wanted to go platinum blonde all over my head, but she said it would be a bad idea since there was breakage in my hair, as well as my hair being very brittle and weak. So what she did was toned the rest of my roots to a yellow-platinum color which I loved a lot, but I wished she did it to the rest of my hair. She told me the color would fade away in a few washes, but still, it looked great! While she was processing my hair, we had a great conversation about how she became a colorist, as well as little things about life (and by how she spoke to me, she loves her job). She also recommended me a blue shampoo to help tone my hair weekly to get the yellow-platinum color back. While the bleach was in my hair, my scalp was irritating me a lot. She did say that if it did irritate my scalp, she would take it off immediately, but I said it was fine. There came to be a point where I did want to take off the bleach / toner since my scalp was burning and I couldn't sit still anymore. When it was time to pay, my total came to around $250, but I gave her a $20 tip and I got a free shampoo and conditioner set to help strengthen my hair. I thought they would have charged me a bit less since I didn't get a full blow out like I asked to, but my roots were only toned. When I came home, I did notice that parts of my head had a chemical burn (my fault for not saying anything to her). I do like this salon, but I think I'll go there when my hair needs a major do-over. read more

Came in to get my hair lightened up, and Carlyne took care of me! Not only is she absolutely fabulous at what she does, she will keep you entertained while sitting in the chair for hours! What I like the most is, as much as I wanted almost platinum blonde hair, she let me know that she only wanted to lift my hair to the shade it currently is or else my hair will become super damaged.! And honestly, I'd rather have someone who is honest with me and cares about my hairs health then someone who is looking to make some money and damage my hair for good. If you are looking for someone to hook up your hair and actually TAKE CARE of your hair, please go see my girl Carlyne! This will not be the last time I go to see her! read more

I want to support Ricky because he is such a skillful, knowledgeable colorist. I am so happy Ricky has days on the Peninsula now because For the past 3-4 years I've formerly been driving from San Mateo, dealing w downtown parking, to get my hair colored because I think he's the best in the whole city! Now he is the best on the Peninsula- likely the city too! I never thought I could have ashy blonde highlights without them turning brassy in a couple weeks. That's always what happened with other colorists. Ricky made it happen. Check out his Instagram. Also please realize that you're not going to get magazine perfect color and at a fraction of the market standard. But also Ricky is not unreasonable. On par with market. From punk to vivid to classic, he can do it all! Also this is my 4th yelp review ever so you know he's legit if I take the time to write this. But I like to support people in their art. Seriously stop looking just go to him. You will not regret. He is a blonde expert too -- those baby lights tho! But can do any color with skill and talent that's unmatched! Are you picky about your hair and want a great cut that washes/wears well? Do you have thick or wavy/curly hair that frightens most stylists? Do you want to go to a cute medium-sized non- intimidating salon and feel relaxed and well taken care of? This place might be your ticket. I keep coming back to Salon Le Rouge even tho I live in San Francisco, since most people do not know how to give me a modern and wearable cut that doesn't make me look like I have either 500 layers OR like I have a huge triangle-shaped head of hair. Before I found this place, I had some interesting haircuts at other salons that looked plain weird or just did not fit my hair texture/face shape etc. I love trying new looks, but I also want to look good and have an easy hair style. My stylist is Alex, who has been cutting my hair for years, and he always makes me feel so welcome and at ease every time I come in. He understands my hair and I never have to give him a long speech before my cut - he just knows what to do (what a relief!!!) and he listens when I want to try a new look. I also recently had color with Shawna who is the sweetest, really easy to communicate with, and did a great job with my root touch up and balayage on my thick brunette hair. She knew how to place the color (balayage) based on my shorter layered cut now, so it would look pretty and blended but still noticeable. Thank you Salon Le Rouge!!! read more

I came here for my first experience getting a balayage. I wanted something very professional and was hoping the girl I was going to get my hair done by was good as other people said she was. I found most of her work through Instagram and was so excited to book an appointment with her. Trying to find where the place was an adventure as its in a building on the top floor. It's just like any other salon and nicely modeled. I got my balayage done by Joice. I didnt really feel a friendly vibe from her and I tried to keep conversation going to avoid awkwardness. The thing I didn't really like was that I would've had to put more money down for her to blow dry my hair? Foreal? Like I've never heard of something like that. I said nah I'm good I'll save my money and blow dry it myself. At the end I wanted her to curl my hair and she asked where I was going? Like does it really matter tho? She curled my hair and I couldn't really tell what work she did to it. Keep in mind my hair isn't black, so I thought it wasn't going to be this difficult to get to a lighter color. It got to a brassy color, but I wasn't impressed. I had high expectations coming into this salon. Spending $250 for not great service and no actual results. I cancelled my second appointment with her. No way I was going to blow $500. I went to a different salon and the service and information was a lot better. read more

This is a review for Ellyse. My gauge for a good cut and color is how well it looks as it grows out and the color changes. This is very important to me, because with three kids, work and everything in between, I don't have time to hang out at salons very often. Ellyse knows this about me and decides on the cut and especially the COLOR accordingly. I'm two months post cut and color and I'm still receiving a ton of compliments on my hair, even though the color has lightened up and the cut has grown out a bit (my hair grows fast.) Thanks so much, Ellyse! read more
