Situation: Color Correction *see photos* Background: Bad balayage at another at Stilo Salon, by the owner no less, and turned out nowhere near the inspiration photos I brought in. I was hoping for beige highlights and got bright blonde. I asked for a refund and was only offered a "fix it at no cost". I declined. Intervention: Reached out to Vance who did my hair in the past. Don't ask me why I just didn't come back. Vance was able to see me pretty quick and did an AMAZING job!! He gave me beige highlights and darkened the base which I just love. I'm tanned skin so the blonde highlights was not flattering. Evaluation: I am forever grateful for Vance. He is very skilled at his craft. The result was exactly what I was hoping for from the very beginning when I stepped into the other salon. Note to self....i will never see any other stylist. I highly recommend Vance if you're looking for a highly skilled professional that will make you leave his chair feeling confident and amazing about your hair!!! read more

Very positive experience. Staff very friendly. Haircut awesome. Relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Su always does an amazing job with my hair! I showed her inspiration photos and she was able to achieve my desired hair color look with foliage/balayage and 2 toners. They're also extremely efficient here which I appreciate as a busy mom. Highly recommend. read more

OVERALL VALUE 4.5/5 I would say this was a fab place overall. It's only been a few days since my tone and cut so we'll see how the color stays but it was overall a good value compared to the other places in the Bay Area! AMBIENCE 5/5 Overall, the salon is split between the hair side, and the spa side (where you can get facials and such). It's a cute lil place in the middle of burlinggame! I was lucky with parking and was able to park for free on one of the side streets. Apparently, the two hour parking can be more than two hours... ;-) otherwise, there is meter parking on the street in front of the shop. STYLIST 5/5 As I was a new client to Nabi salon, Su was not taking new customers, but I was able to schedule with Vanessa. The earliest appointment with her was about 2 to 3 weeks out and she was an absolute doll! I originally scheduled for a balayage to fix up my year-old-grown out prior dye. However after talking to Vanessa about my goal to go more natural, we ended up doing a tone and cut. It was great since she really listened to what I wanted! :) The cut was nice and simple and my hair looked SOO much healthier! Would recommend others to come! read more

So thrilled I have found Su! I was looking for a go to hair salon near the neighborhood and found Nabi salon via Yelp. I called in to make an appointment 2 months in advance and was excited to get a fresh look. I went in and got seated right away. Su made sure to understand my needs and gave me suggestions. We agreed on the color and style and she worked her magic! I wanted to have warm brown color and layer hair cut. Throughout the process, she informed me of what each steps were and made me feel comfortable. I was very satisfied with my new look and will be coming back. Make sure to call in advance because she books up! read more

I've been going to Nabi Hair Salon for quite some time now (many years) I primarily go to Vanessa and Su, but have had the previlage to work with Stylists at their sister salon as well. I went in this time for a double process balayage. Mind you since I've been going for ages half the time I don't even care what they do to me including amount of hair that is cut because they have done such an exepctional job at hitting it right on the nail 100% of the time that I already know whatever they do will look amazing. They are super sweet and knowledgeable and give suggestions on what color/tone would suit my skin tone in addition to what style cut would compliment my face shape. They make me feel extremely comfortable and confident the moment I walk in. They are very personable and explain the process step by step so that you understand what is going on. I have had nothing but satisfactory results since I began going to them. I am so incredibly happy I stumbled across them. I moved temporarily to Modesto for 2 years and would drive down just for Nabi every 3 months for a trim and tone and a bit longer for the balayage when my roots would grow. I will never go anywhere else. They have made it extremely hard to find anything/ anyone better. When booking an appointment they are very transparent start to finish and very informative they ask questions if you don't know exactly what you want. I cannot recommend this place enough! Thank you Su, Vanessa, and team for creating such a welcomeing environment. I always appreciate your patience with me and I am so grateful you guys work with me on dates/time since being a mommy of 3 you have made my self care time extremely pleasant. I am posting a few pics from over the years. I originally had jet black virgin hair. When I consulted with Su and Vanessa they made it extremely clear that the process would take a few sessions to get to my inspo image so that my hair would not damage or fry and fall off in attempting to do it in one sitting. I appreciated their honesty and decided to trust the process. I have 0 regrets. read more

Due to quarantine, my hair turned into an overgrown mop with faded color and an annoying length. Needless to say I was desperate for a refresh! My previous hairstylist was furloughed so I took some time to research reviews for a new hairstylist. I wanted a simple yet classy salon, with a friendly and honest vibe. Looked on Yelp and found Nabi Salon and with all their high ratings, I figured I'd give them a try. So happy I met Vanessa!!! She took time to understand my daily routine, the styles I was considering and how much maintenance I was intending to do. I liked that she was upfront and careful about their COVID precautions and procedures it definitely made me less anxious about the exposure. She was also very approachable and easy to get along with, I felt like I had gained a new friend. I'm so happy with how may hair turned out, I look forward to going back! Thanks again Vanessa and Su! I appreciate everyone on the Nabi/Aria Beauty Bar teams for always being accommodating, kind and professional. Vance deserves a special shoutout for the AMAZING work he does -- not to mention his vast skillset! I've tried it all with him -- blonde, platinum, dark brunette, a balayage with a statement piece, curtain bangs, straight across bangs, layering and extensions... I wouldn't trust anyone but Vance and his assistant Lana to help me. He's always made my hair dreams come true and is good at setting the proper outcome expectations to avoid any surprises (I take big risks as you can see in my photos lol). If you're looking for any of these services, I'd recommend you visit Vance for a consultation. Not to mention the area is super cute. I've never really had trouble parking close to the shop entrance, but be careful on weekends since the shops are located right downtown. Spots fill up fast. read more

TLDR: Will be coming back! Vance did great! Understood what I wanted and will be asking for him next time! Haircut was $100 so it might be pricey if all you're looking for is a trim. I got maybe 4 inches cut. My hair was dyed May 2022 and it still had some blonde in it. The ends of my hair was DEAD so I knew it was time to get it cut. My sister suggested I go to a place that specializes in Asian hair, so after some searching on Yelp, I found Nabi Salon~ I made an appointment and it wasn't until a week out. Their website said $75 for a cut so I knew it was going to be expensive going in but it was fine since I don't get my hair cut often. I found residential parking because parking all around is 2-hour only (ended up not needing it since my cut took 45 mins). First impression: the floor tiles of Nabi Salon looked "worn" and the space was kinda tight. Their sister salon next door, the Aria Beauty Bar was more spacious. I was offered water beforehand so that was nice~ I showed Vance some reference photos on Yelp and he understood what I wanted and offered some suggestions too. In the end, I loved the cut! The haircut was $100 and I tipped so it's pretty pricey if you all you're looking for is a trim. I got 4 inches cut so it made sense for the price. They didn't put heat protectant in my hair before blow drying and curling my hair so I was concerned it would damage my hair but the blow drying and curling didn't seem like extensive. Overall, I'll be back! read more

Loved getting my hair cut and colored here by Vance! I had this salon bookmarked for months bc of the rave reviews, and I knew they booked out months in advance. Vance was super knowledgeable and helped me with a double-process balayage and haircut. Definitely hope to be back :) read more

I sent a message and email for a haircut and color. zero response. none. Are you guys still open?

I feel very lucky that I found Su on Yelp last year. Since pandemic started, I haven't ventured out to the salons, and I got the awful "pandemic" hair. My hair grew very long, and I decided to book an appointment at Nabi Salon with Su. It took probably almost 4 or 5 months before they had an appointment at the time, but I was super determined to have my hair done by her, and I am glad I waited. It was one of the best decisions I have made. I went in with a photo of a Korean celebrity who got this gorgeous ashy blue hair, and I didn't really think it would be achieved on my black hair, and especially in one appointment. The result got me shocked, because it was exactly what I wanted! Su is an amazing hair stylist, and Vanessa is also super sweet. I get compliments on my hair all the time, and I recommend her to all my coworkers and friends. I always feel beautiful after every hair appointment, and come out of the salon feeling like a new woman. Thank you Su! read more

I appreciate the owner Su's response. I'm just learning now that the two salons are connected and share a front entrance. I'm also scratching my head on how or why I was assigned to the jointing salon, Aria Beatuy Bar, when I specifically called Nabi Salon directly for an appointment. I remember walking through Nabi's front door for the appointment, so it was understandable to assume Vance was an employee of Nabi, since I called Nabi directly for the appointment. I'm guessing the person from Nabi who took my call, assigned me and set up my appointment with Aria Beauty instead since I didn't ask for a specific stylist from Nabi. read more

I've been going to Nabi Salon (now also Aria Beauty Bar) since the beginning of the pandemic. Over the last 2 years or so I've had Su, Courtney, and recently Vance work on my hair. They are super knowledgeable and I've always left satisfied with how my hair color turned out. As with many places, prices have gone up. I recently had an appointment for a double process partial balayage + cut. When it was time to pay I mentioned that I got a partial balayage (half of my head was painted and the bottom half was not) and I was replied with a short "we don't do that here". A partial balayage was literally what I got (??) but I was charged for a full balayage. I wish this was made clear at the beginning of the appointment - so that I could have gotten what I paid for. Weird that they offer partial highlights per their website but not partial balayage. The total was $400+ without tip which I still tipped 20% on top. Definitely not cheap. I really liked Nabi/Aria but my last visit left me feeling uneasy. Sadly, I don't think I will be back. read more

My first time getting my hair professionally done and I had a great experience with Vanessa! I was really nervous to part with my virgin hair but Vanessa was very helpful in explaining the process and what would look best and work best for me based on my lifestyle. There's metered parking out front or free parking in residential area if you're lucky! My service came out to $215 for color, wash, cut, and style (about 3 hours long). Thank you, Su and Vanessa! I'll definitely be back! read more

Wonderful job! Love how careful they are during the pandemic. I was the only client in the salon during my appointment! Easy to find residential parking nearby. Pricing is as listed on their website. If you're ever looking for the place to get your hair colored and/or cut, go to Vanessa! She is so thorough and friendly and really takes her time to understand exactly what you want. I trust her entirely and would definitely go back to her for my next session. I would not hesitate to recommend Nabi salon! read more

Nabi Salon - Single-process balayage on virgin hair - Hair Stylists Near Me - Burlingame, California

I had an amazing experience at Nabi and highly recommend this salon! Vanessa did a beautiful warm (but still neutral) toned blonde balayage on my grown out roots. After looking at inspiration photos I brought (and with some suggestions from Su), Vanessa nailed the placement and tone of the highlights. I've had a balayage done at two other salons in the Bay Area and in my opinion, Vanessa has been the most thorough and detail-oriented. I could tell she wanted to make sure I was happy with the end result, and I appreciated how she asked clarifications questions to ensure we were on the same page. The salon is super clean and both Vanessa and Su are friendly and professional. If you're still unsure about booking here, checkout Nabi's Instagram page; they have an impressive portfolio of work! I attached photos of my balayage (done the Tuesday before my Sunday wedding) after one wash. As you can see, Vanessa did an amazing job, and I will be back here in the future! read more

I requested something in-between a subtle and full balayage, but somehow I ended up with a double balayage lol. Total hair makeover! From dark brown virgin hair to full on kpop-esque hair. In any case, my hair looks great. I was uncertain for about a week, since I was not used to super light hair on me and thought my hair looked like anime hair, but now, I have random strangers come up to me, complimenting my hair and asking me where I got my color done. And now that I'm used to it, I think it elevated my appearance. Thank you Vance! read more

Vanessa is amazing!! I just had double balayage and a cut. She is such a professional and highly skilled at what she does. I have nothing but great things to say about Su and Vanessa! I waited months for my first haircut appointment with her, but the wait was entirely worth it. Initially, I thought of cutting my hair to shoulder-length. However, Su recommended I continue to keep my hair long, and instead touched up my layers. She also added some face-framing, which I didn't realize helped structure my face better. Vanessa helped wash my hair before Su saw me for the actual cut and blow-dry. I have to say... the attention to detail and precision that both Vanessa and Su demonstrated was unmatched. I learned very quickly during my haircut appointment that Su is the rich and pretty Asian auntie I didn't know I needed... she made the whole experience incredibly fun and enjoyable. Somewhere in the process, she also somehow convinced me to schedule a hair coloring appointment with her in May, lol. The first hair coloring experience I had in September 2021 wasn't the best, mainly because I sustained a lot of damage to my hair from the bleach. However, given how knowledgeable Su is about hair in general, there was no hesitation in me booking a coloring session with her. When I say I think I've found my go-to hair people... I really mean it. :) read more

Called around 12:30 for a haircut and Sue said she can schedule me in with her junior specialist, Vanessa, at 2:30. Located on Broadway in Burlingame, it was easy to find parking right in front. I was greeted and started right away. The salon was cute. Told them I wanted a haircut and showed Vanessa a picture of the cut I wanted. Let's just say, the outcome was absolutely perfect! I wished I had taken a before picture of my hair because the after was absolutely perfect. Vanessa was super sweet and personable. She's young but super sweet and attentive. My one hour appointment passed by so quick and next thing I realized, my hair looked healthy, shiny, and felt super soft. Vanessa was thorough with the cut and based everything on what I liked and wanted and more. Before my cut, my hair had no style and it was full of split ends and looked so thinned out so it made my hair felt so heavy. After a wash, cut, and style, my hair felt so much healthier and looked so much healthier. I only wished I had found them sooner but I'm glad I finally did. It's only been half a day and I've already gotten compliments on my hair and my family can't stop feeling how soft it is !! Not to mention how good my hair smelled after using their shampoo and spray. :) read more

I am a very lazy girl. I wash my hair often and simply let it hair air dry. Wanted a change by dying my hair and my friend recommend Nabi Salon! I've never had my hair dyed before and Vance was awesome! I wanted to go for an ash brown look and given that I haven't done this before, Vance suggested we go for a more subtle change compared to the example I gave him so I don't go in total shock. He also educated me a lot on hair in general. I appreciate him keeping in mind my lifestyle/hair habits and the subtle change was perfect for me! After a couple of days, I realize I was ready for more of a change so actually asked to come back for a bit more color in my hair. Su kindly accommodated me in their busy schedule and Vance nailed it! Highly recommend this salon. Great knowledgeable staff! read more

I can't recommend this salon enough. I've gotten balayage at a few salons in SoCal and New York before, but this was my favorite! Vanessa is super knowledgeable and clearly answers any questions you have during the process. Her advice for my ashy brown balayage upkeep was also really simple - sulfate free shampoo, olaplex once a week, and only purple shampoo sparingly once the toner fades. It was about a 2 month wait for the initial appointment but totally worth it. Prices on website were up-to-date. Highly recommend Vanessa for balayage and cut! read more

Su and Vanessa were great! I came a couple weeks ago to get a trim, and Su/Vanessa made sure that they were aligned on the direction that my hair cut was going to go in. (Felt a bit bad because my last hair dresser really botched my hair so Su/Vanessa were essentially "fixing" his mistakes... oops! Sorry and thanks!!) Vanessa did a great job with the cut, and she was very friendly/attentive throughout the haircut. Su came in at the end to cut one part of my hair that needed more attention, but she said Vanessa did a "perfect job", and that was nice to hear! I just got back from another amazing experience at Nabi Salon! It's the only place I've gotten my haircut or colored since it's opened. Su, the owner, goes out of her way to ensure you get exactly what you request. Recently I've had some of the other stylists that work with her do my hair when she is swamped and I trust them since they have been under her tutelage and I have not been disappointed. In addition, Su and her team have been cutting my sons hair which can be a challenge since he has some sensory issues. They have gone above and beyond to accommodate him - it is a salon with a heart of gold. My normal color is a very dark brown that she keeps in stock just for me - you will get individualized creations specific to your request and they always do their best to accommodate. I went in today to get highlights like in the picture they had shown. But after 3.5 hours, my hair color was exactly the same as before dying it. I am extremely disappointed and will not recommend this place to anyone. RESPONSE: I would like to note that I did not have any problems with your hairstylists; They were both very kind and considerate. Also, the girl running the register offered the full refund and NOT YOU. Nevertheless, although the final results were not even close to the picture, I still appreciated my stylists' efforts and paid over 50% of the original costs. I don't usually post negative reviews. However, I felt the need to respond since YOU manipulated the facts: First of all, the picture was shown to me by the hairstylist. I specifically told her that "I don't have any reference pictures." Secondly, no one ever discussed with me that my hair wouldn't be able to reach the same color (as in the picture shown by the hairstylist). Lastly, the line "Our understanding is that you had similar issues indicated in your review with the prior salon you visited hence coming to Aria Beauty Bar. There appears to be a common theme with your approach.." I don't understand where this is even coming from. I've never had any issues with other salons, and this is my first ever negative review. What "approach" are you even referring to? It is extremely inappropriate and unprofessional of you to make these false accusations. read more

Thanks for your response -- I can make it 2 stars and here is some additional feedback-- The haircut within less than a week looked ragged n not like it was styled well.
