Cosh Head Spa is so cute and the perfect luxury to treat yourself to. Scalp spas are all the rage, especially in Burlingame (where there's three or four just in the downtown radius)! I came here for a hydrafacial and cleanse for my scalp in the evening. Booking online is swift and can be done with no issues! The front desk lady was incredibly sweet and we chit chatted about going to Japan together. She also recommended that I upgraded from cleanse to the detox package, which I enjoyed thoroughly. The woman giving me my scalp analysis spoke quite thoroughly on the state of my scalp and how I would continue forward to take care of it. I would recommend not washing your hair the day of or day before to get the most out of your analysis, she did mention it was a bit difficult to ascertain the state of it (but it was still clear from the photos up close). She mentioned that our scalp is similar to our face skin, I have combination for both (oily in the T zones and dry on the other portions/sides of my head). I still had a decent amount of sebaceous filaments after my hydrafacial, but I would come back here again for the scalp spa experience. It's very cozy and tucked on the outskirts of downtown Burlingame where there's plenty of residential parking and a parking structure. With so much conflicting information online, I was struggling to properly identify my hair/scalp type and what kind of hair products I should use. After booking an appointment, I was sent a form to fill out with any health conditions, allergies, and preferences for massage pressure and warm vs. cooling eyemasks. Whitney was also more than happy to answer my many questions, which was how I discovered that the dandruff shampoo I've been using for years was not only unnecessary since I don't have dandruff but also causing the build-up and flakes I was seeing on my scalp (mind-blowing!). I walked away from my first appointment feeling so enlightened that I gleefully told all of my friends and family who would listen. By the time I went for my second appointment, I had my best friend and brother in tow to share in the relaxing and life-changing experience with me. I tried the Detox treatment the first time and the Refresh treatment the second time, which both included scalp analysis. After looking at my scalp and listening to my concerns, Whitney tailored the products used for each appointment, focusing on hair thinning for one and curbing oiliness for the other. Aside from the service, the room itself evoked a restful atmosphere with the soft, warm lighting, and I was offered a warm towel and tea or water while I waited for my appointment time. We enjoyed our luxurious head spa experience on a Sunday at the Cosh Head Spa! ‍ if someone tells you head spas are just washing your hair I strongly disagree! This is actually a service that is common in Asia and helps maintain hair health, I was super happy to have found another location. I've had an experience at another location in South Bay for about the same price but felt this was way more worth it! Service was super kind & thorough throughout. The vibe inside was very relaxing with spa music, all white interior & nice beverages offered upon arrival. I appreciated the natural lighting & high ceilings here it really brought a relaxing vibe to the spot, they had 3 wash chairs that were very comfortable! We booked about a week out to have a nice girl's day & we booked for two people- got lucky! Overall the location was easy to locate & parking was available right outside but also all along the downtown Burlingame area. We were pleasantly surprised with the thoroughness of the experience. Started with a nice review of our scalp from all angles, this was then compared before & after with a thorough discussion of the hairspa experience. Then we had all the nice options of the customized eye mask, gentle massage to the upper back/head with the hair spa experience. The only thing that I would modify was the requirement of taking photo of ID on the consent form, I imagine photos can be altered so wondering if consideration to showing ID on site would be enough, this was the first time I've had to photograph my ID, but then again there may be rules in Burlingame that require this? Anyways not a biggie but probably worth considering. They are very good about keeping to the age requirement for their services. Every now and again, I like to feel pampered and have a scalp treatment. I haven't found a place with scalp treatments like I received in Korea. A friend recommended Cosh so I decided to give it a try. When I made my appointment, I filled out a short questionnaire - length of hair, extensions/no extensions, etc. Also asked if I wanted a cooling or warming eye mask. I decided on a Rejuvenate treatment. When I arrived, Whitney greeted me. I was offered a beverage while waiting then was given a warm face towel to freshen up. Molly took me to her station to set me up. She took photos of my scalp. Whitney came over to explain what I was looking at. Based on those photos, she informed Molly which products would be best to use. Even though my scalp was in good condition, Whitney suggested an exfoliating/nourishing scalp solution. She asked about my pain tolerance as some clients felt it irritated their scalp. She told me that if anything bothered me, I should tell Molly immediately and she would make sure I was OK (e.g. if the scalp solution burned, tell Molly and she would immediately rinse it out). During the treatment, my scalp felt a bit irritated. If Molly was massaging that part of my scalp it was fine. There was a point where steam was used as part of the treatment. My throat wasn't happy but it was stopped. Afterwards, there wasn't an appreciable change since my scalp was already in good condition. It looked like it had been moisturized. My hair felt softer. I was relaxed and happy. Whitney suggested I massage my scalp the next few day to get the most out of the "red light" treatment. I've been doing that and my scalp feels looser. The entire experience was lovely. I left feeling pampered. I'll be back. read more

My hair felt incredible afterward, and I left feeling refreshed and pampered. There were just a couple of small areas where the experience could be enhanced. My before photos didn't seem to upload properly, and there was limited conversation during the treatment. A bit more explanation about the process would have been helpful, but I completely understand that a language barrier may have played a role. Donna was fantastic--she walked me through a detailed scalp analysis and gave thoughtful recommendations for managing oiliness and buildup without being pushy about products (which I really appreciated). The service itself was soothing and thorough, and my scalp felt incredibly clean afterward. That said, when I rebooked, the 10-minute scalp massage add-on I requested wasn't included, which was a bit disappointing. I also wish they offered a blowout option at the end--my hair was freshly washed but left to air dry, which can be tricky for those of us with textured hair. My friend and I have been seeing all of these viral videos of head spas, and there are none close to us in Sonoma County and I stumbled upon Cosh on Yelp. First, it was so easy to book online and I liked how all the different services are on their website. Very detailed explanations with price. After booking, I received a confirmation text and I was able to communicate with Norm, the owner about getting my friend in the same time. He was totally accommodating! The interior is beautiful. Very clean and great aesthetics. It's very quiet and zen like. Norm actually did my scalp treatment and Julie did my friend's, and both are amazing. They explained everything thoroughly and we got to see our before and after scalp pics. It was so informative- I learned so much about my scalp and hair. When Norm worked the exfoliating scrub into my scalp, I fell asleep because it was so relaxing. He also did a face and arm massage too. They even to red light therapy also! Overall great experience! I have been wanting to go to a head spa for a while now and came across this beautiful place after my friend recommended it to me. As soon as you enter, you're warmly welcomed into a peaceful, therapeutic atmosphere with complementary tea while they prepare you for your treatment. Norm was SO informative from start to finish and was able to answer any questions or concerns that I had with my scalp. He was able to compile a treatment specifically catered towards my needs and we immediately got started. The scalp specialist was very gentle and constantly making sure that I was comfortable throughout the entire session. At the end, they do a relatively light blow dry and reassess your scalp to see the results. I was so surprised at how effective the treatment was for my scalp! Norm provided me with even more information about my hair concerns and just overall, I had an amazing and educational experience for my first head spa! SO glad I found this place!! I've been struggling with dry scalp for almost a year and have tried everything. This was my last shot before seeing a dermatologist and thank goodness I found Cosh! Whitney was thorough in explaining the condition and causes of what I've been dealing with. The space is extremely clean and relaxing as soon as you enter, it feels very high-end spa. It is quiet but inviting. Whitney completed my scalp evaluation, and Ping took over for the detox service. I had a fantastic experience here! Due to my hair loss from chemo, I was very interested to check out their Rejuvenate service, a 105-minute service, that among other things, includes scalp analysis, detoxification, head massage (to fully work in the various products), scalp exfoliation, shampoo/conditioner targeted to your needs, application of a stimulating hair serum (Triphasic), red light therapy to stimulate hair growth and ease pain, and a scalp re-analysis. For a small upcharge, I went for the private room option, and I'm glad I did. This made the whole experience that much more relaxing. My tech, Julie, was also fantastic. She's extremely professional yet at the same time, warm and personable. She did a great job explaining throughly every step of the service. Her doing so really helped me to appreciate and value the care I was providing for my scalp. In viewing the re-analysis, I saw the improvement to my scalp. The other thing that's cool is that I now have photos on file that I can view to track my progress after future treatments. I signed up for their monthly Rejuvenate membership, which I was able to apply to today's service. It includes discounted pricing on the Rejuvenate service ($225, normally $265), 10% off products, and 15% off additional services. I regret not taking photos, will do next time. I learned this is a new business that opened in September. I had a very nice chat with the owner who helped me understand and appreciate his and his wife's goals for opening this business. If any of their services are at all something your interested in trying, I highly recommend coming here, checking it out, and supporting this well conceived and applied business. read more

I have been to Cosh Head Spa twice now since writing this review and have had the pleasure of working with Norm, Whitney, and Ping. For both appointments, I booked the Rejuvenate Scalp Treatment with the Private Room Service Enhancement. Norm and Whitney are so knowledgeable about the scalp and scalp care. I really appreciated their recommendations during the pre-treatment and post-treatment scalp analysis portions of the appointments. Ping was my Scalp Specialist for both appointments. The first time I worked with her, she was randomly assigned to me. For the second time, I made it a point to book with her specifically. She is extremely thorough and I always enjoy her massages. The Rejuvenate Scalp Treatment is $265 and completely worth the money in my opinion. After the service, I do find that my scalp and hair feel cleaner longer and less oily between washes. There is also less itchiness and I don't have the same kind of dandruff and fallout that I had prior to the appointment. I also highly recommend the Private Room Service Enhancement for an additional $25. It just adds another level of relaxation to the service. The entire space is so aesthetically pleasing and very clean. The staff are quick to welcome you upon arrival and they are always so pleasant. There's nothing more I could ask for. Then I was introduced to the spot and got explanation of the service and how it was founded- which was a great story and helps relate to the service being provided. You can tell the team really cares about their clients and I love that they made sure I was comfortable at all times. Online, they give you an option for a cooling mask or warm mask. I got a detox treatment with the hydrajelly facial (mini facial with mask) with Molly. They take pictures of the before and after of your scalp so you can see the results. They ask questions about your hair routine. The have a wide range of products and will ask if you have preferences. They explain the benefits of the products and how it will help your hair. I went with their suggestions for my hair treatment and mini facial. I definitely saw the difference in my scalp and my hair felt so clean. My skin was clean, soft and smooth. Cosh is not your typical head spa - worth every penny. I signed up for their Murder Mystery event (in light of Halloween) and was blown away by the entire experience. All the staff members played a unique character and our task was to guess who the "killer" was by interrogating each staff member and looking around for clues. We found about 4 clues before our scalp treatments began. I love solving mysteries/escape rooms and spas so this experience was a match made in heaven for me! Lol I've been to other head spas before and this was by far the best place. The chairs are super comfy and the products used are top notch. Julie was my scalp specialist and really customized my treatment based on my concerns and condition of my scalp (oily, dry, sunburned). I literally fell into deep sleep during the head massage. I got the Detox treatment with red light therapy to help with thinning hair. You don't even have to leave your seat and walk to another station with drippy wet hair- all the treatments are done in one place.. a win! After our treatment, we resumed the Murder Mystery. Without giving too much away, the mystery was well designed and so much fun! The owner Norm introduced himself at the end and was super helpful with answering some of our hair-related questions. His knowledge of hair care, hair growth, hair loss, etc. was truly impressive. You can tell he's genuinely passionate about hair and not just "another" head spa that doesn't understand the science of haircare. I actually waited a few days after my treatment to see/feel the results. Honestly, my hair and scalp has never felt better.. and it lasted for a few days. Everything was amazing from booking the appointment to leaving the Spa. Everyone there is so nice, including the client care coordinator Bella, the technician, Donna and the owner, Norm. Bella was so sweet and making sure I was taken care before the appointment with water and a steamed towel. i really enjoyed my treatment here. it was an anniversary gift as i've always wanted to try one of these. they start the treatment with using the little magnifying tool to look at the condition of your scalp. they take pictures of the crown, sides and back of the head. the lady did kind of roast me. she asked how long it's been since i washed my hair and i told her i washed it yesterday lol. and she was like OH LOL. yeah i have an oily head sorry ): my main complaint is that the entire service was done in the main lobby where there's bring white lights, but they give you an eye mask to wear. i was very relaxed and having the time of my life. the girl who did my service was really gettin in there. my hair was visibly cleaner, but it didn't make it stay clean for a long period of time. i'd love to do this again as a special treat. read more

After seeing so many videos of scalp analyses in Asia, I decided to treat myself and my partner to a treatment and I could not have imagined a better experience! I had originally purchased gift cards for our services and had some trouble booking, but Norm was so helpful and quick to respond.
