Got a Groupon deal to come with my friend. Of course the store tried to sell you more. Once walked in, they showed you photos of your scalp and how unhealthy it was. Then while the lady was washing mh hair, she raise her voice and kept telling me my head had severe psoriasis and I should see a dermatologist. She had to spend os much time to scrub my scalp. I expected higher quality service. This was opened by a group of Mandrarin speaking ladies. They spoke I'll of their customers assuming they did not understand. It was clean. Vibe was ok.

Had a great and relaxing time at zen studio. I called and was able to book a same day appt for me and my sister. When we arrived we waited no more than 5 mins and the lady took us in for a hair analysis. After that we both had our relaxing hair services which included a neck and shoulder massage. After that a bow dry followed by another hair analysis. *Sasha really rubbed out the kink I had in my neck and I am so going to request for her on my next visit! Thanks Sasha!

I found Zen Scalp Studio on Groupon and was pleasantly surprised. First impression, the place looked very new and clean. My friend and I booked the Water Flow Therapy with Chinese Medicinal Herbal Bath Treatment for 50 minutes. Our appointment was at 10am so we were the only ones there, which was nice because it felt like a private appointment. The ladies was nice and attentive. First, we examined our scalp with camera to see up close how dirty our scalp is. I haven't washed my hair in 4 days so my head was very oily and had a lot of dirt buildup. Next, we changed and laid down on the shampoo bed. We spent the next 30 minutes with a nice hair wash and massage. The hair wash was nice because she really went in and cleaned the scalp. I wish they massaged the neck and shoulder a little more. Lastly, we finished off with the hair drying which incorporated tools to stimulate the scalp. After the treatment was over, my head felt so light, like a boulder has been lifted off my shoulders. My hair was so bouncy & shiny! Overall, it was a very relaxing experience! If you're looking to treat yourself to a nice pamper, I'd recommend trying Zen Scalp Studio. The only caveat is that every bed is separated by a curtain so you hear others if they're talking. I didn't mind it though! Parking: free street parking; located on a bit busy street

On Sept 28, 2024, I tried the Zen Scalp Studio in Burlingame. I love ultimate hydration and scalp soothing treatment tailored to promote healthy hair growth, Hydration scalp care involves treatments and products aimed at moisturizing and nourishing the scalp to maintain its health and balance. The treatment consists of scalp analysis, Chinese herbal bath, scalp deep cleansing, a massage of scalp, neck and shoulder, hydration serum, high frequency comb to kill bacteria, LED red light therapy and hair blow dry. The owner is super nice and engaged with her client. She is very knowledgeable with all the treatment. You ask her questions and she has answers. My favorite is Jenny who treated my scalp. Jenny is the best! She care for my hair and honest about sharing the clogged pores of my scalp. I came back today Oct 18th for the second time and my next appt is scheduled on Nov 2nd. Definitely 5 Star treatment, service and clean place. Here are pictures of the place and some screen shot of the treatment and my scalp. Try it and you will love it!

So my daughter bought us the Groupon 50 min treatment with neck and shoulders massage. First time doing this so we were totally excited!! We got there early and waited patiently. Once we were escorted in, we had a quick scalp session where they show you how much buildup, dryness, etc. You have on your scalp. Then you're moved to your bed. Once in my little area, I was told 'take top off' nothing more...so with a quick glance around the area I saw a towel cover so figured I had to take my top off so it wouldn't get wet (apparently the bra too, though was not told that) I made a comment out loud to myself and luckily my daughter was in the space next to me, because she was not told anything at all. I lay down and we begin. My attendant kept on using very warm water and I kept asking to turn down the heat. She did do an amazing job on the shampoo and rest of the treatment with a quick neck and shoulders massage. When it was time to rinse, water was actually hotter where I jerked my head up stating "hot". Full disclosure, like most women I do take hot showers so when I say it was hot, well it was HOT. She apologized and lowered the heat but still felt too warm. Then came time to sit on the chair to get my hair dry. I have curly hair so I figured being a hair treatment spa, they would also know the difference types of hairs. Let's just say my hair ended up being a frizzy dried out mess. Even the owner noticed and offered leave on conditioner and serums to try to tame it down. She told me I should have told them not to blow dry my hair!! Like I knew what the process was. The place is clean and the staff is friendly but... 1. You don't wash hair with hot water! 2. If you see processed or color hair, you most definitely don't wash it with hot water. 3. You are a hair/scalp treatment place. You need to know the different hair types. 4. You do not blow dry curly hair- use the infuser or ask if they even want it blown. My hair feels drier and frizzier. If you have plain, straight, non textured, non processed hair, and you don't mind getting cooked with hot water, then this MAY be the place for you.

    Happy mom and daughters!

This place was amazing. They were very accommodating. We came in about 30 minutes earlier than our appointment, but they took us in anyway. Very friendly staff. We appreciated all they did during our scalp massage. It was very relaxing. Seeing my scalp before and after was very shocking. We got our service through Groupon and added extra services to get the hydration. Ladies are sweet and would totally come back.

A friend recommended Cosh so I decided to give it a try. When I made my appointment, I filled out a short questionnaire - length of hair, extensions/no extensions, etc. Also asked if I wanted a cooling or warming eye mask. I decided on a Rejuvenate treatment. When I arrived, Whitney greeted me. I was offered a beverage while waiting then was given a warm face towel to freshen up. Molly took me to her station to set me up. She took photos of my scalp. Whitney came over to explain what I was looking at. Based on those photos, she informed Molly which products would be best to use. Even though my scalp was in good condition, Whitney suggested an exfoliating/nourishing scalp solution. She asked about my pain tolerance as some clients felt it irritated their scalp. She told me that if anything bothered me, I should tell Molly immediately and she would make sure I was OK (e.g. if the scalp solution burned, tell Molly and she would immediately rinse it out). During the treatment, my scalp felt a bit irritated. If Molly was massaging that part of my scalp it was fine. There was a point where steam was used as part of the treatment. My throat wasn't happy but it was stopped. Afterwards, there wasn't an appreciable change since my scalp was already in good condition. It looked like it had been moisturized. My hair felt softer. I was relaxed and happy. Whitney suggested I massage my scalp the next few day to get the most out of the "red light" treatment. I've been doing that and my scalp feels looser. The entire experience was lovely. I left feeling pampered. I'll be back.

I came here for a hydrafacial and cleanse for my scalp in the evening. Booking online is swift and can be done with no issues! The front desk lady was incredibly sweet and we chit chatted about going to Japan together. She also recommended that I upgraded from cleanse to the detox package, which I enjoyed thoroughly. The woman giving me my scalp analysis spoke quite thoroughly on the state of my scalp and how I would continue forward to take care of it. I would recommend not washing your hair the day of or day before to get the most out of your analysis, she did mention it was a bit difficult to ascertain the state of it (but it was still clear from the photos up close). She mentioned that our scalp is similar to our face skin, I have combination for both (oily in the T zones and dry on the other portions/sides of my head). I still had a decent amount of sebaceous filaments after my hydrafacial, but I would come back here again for the scalp spa experience. It's very cozy and tucked on the outskirts of downtown Burlingame where there's plenty of residential parking and a parking structure. The workers are friendly and the interior has a calm ambiance that's very conducive to a relaxing experience.

This is my secret spa when I need total rejuvenation…read more I've come here after international trips to decompress from 15+ hour flights, and every time, it resets my entire nervous system. What stands out immediately is how curated the experience is from the moment you walk in. Even the names of the services feel intentional and aligned: there's a clear brand philosophy behind everything they do. The decor is thoughtful, not overwhelming, and once you enter the massage space, the experience becomes even more personalized. You first enter the sliding wooden doirs to a crystal grid, and the therapist actually takes the time to understand your body--areas of concern, areas to avoid--which is incredibly important. Not all massages are created equal. When a therapist works with your body instead of just applying routine techniques, the experience becomes far more effective. Afterward, you step into this walkway that feels like an evening on Malibu Beach--the sound of large ocean waves, the lighting, the atmosphere. It pulls you into the present moment in a way that feels intentional + ritualistic. Inside the room, everything is designed for comfort and immersion. The tables are warm, there's a soft white fur blanket, and even the smallest details are intentional: the cute tiny Tibetan bowls where you place your belongings. When you pick them up at the end, it creates this subtle, calming chime. It's those small nuances that make the experience feel iconic! Each massage therapist has their own artistry, but they all follow a unified philosophy. The use of essential oils, guided breathing, and the ambient sound of ocean waves creates a full sensory experience. At times, it genuinely feels like you're on a coastal retreat--there's even this subtle quality in the air that mimics that ocean freshness. Kinda like salt [reminds me of those himalayan salt rooms in jimjilbangs in Korea]. Even the restroom is clean, calming, and consistent with the overall experience. Usually a candle of their signature smell is lit...nothing feels like an afterthought. I've had massages all over the world, and this place is something special. It's not just about getting a massage--it's about the environment, the intention, and how your body is guided into relaxation. That level of care makes a difference. The staff is warm, some know me by name, and it always feels like I'm stepping into a space where healing is the priority: physically and for the nervous system. If you become a member, it's also much more reasonable to come regularly, which I highly recommend. This place is precise, intentional, and beautifully executed. I love it. The lady said what is your daughter's information, I need to figure out how she bought the gift certificate. I said she's 15. She bought the gift certificate on your webpage and I received an email - from your salon - telling me I had a $150 massage for your salon. The lady said okay, it's okay. You don't have to pay. I said, well I do because I spent $160 on a massage because of things I added and I also want to include a tip. So I'll pay the difference. The lady said okay. She said she'd charge my credit card the $10 difference plus what I wanted to leave as a tip. I thought all was well only to come home to see a charge for the entire cost of the massage plus the tip. They didn't honor the gift certificate which was from their website. I tell you, I go to have a massage for stress relief, but this place is SO stressful with the disorganization of the business. I was going to go again, but after all is said and done there is no way I'd ever go back again. They caused me stressed. I'll need to dispute the charge now with my credit card company. The whole team at Moda including Oscar, James, Nurse Judy and Nurse Practitioner Grace are all highly skilled practitioners. I have the utmost respect and trust for the Moda team. I highly recommend James, Judy and the Moda team. See you again soon.
