I guess it's because there's a barbershop right next door and the main entrance to this salon is a bit smaller and less noticeable. I called to book an appointment and was surprised to get a prime Saturday time just a few days out. My hair was in desperate need of some TLC, and I was prepared to wait a few weeks, but was glad they could squeeze me in earlier. I was scheduled with Lyn, who is one of their senior stylists. She had me fill out an intake form, which is something that no other salon has ever had me do. I came prepared with some photo examples of what I wanted, so the whole experience was a little over an hour (they allot 1.5 hours for first time haircut). Lyn listened to what I wanted and also said I could come back within a week or two for any adjustments and they also offer a complimentary bang trim between appointments. She also gifted me a little welcome package with coupons and a couple hair product samples. The salon is much bigger than I thought. It goes quite deep and there's tiny rooms that separate people out, so it's not the typical open space layout. I liked how unique it was, not just the space, but the experience and the commute! I used to drive over to Daly City, but now I prefer to stay closer to home and I can get here by foot!

Let me tell you that this place was the MOST I've ever paid for hair coloring and balayage in my life and I've gone to Master hair colorists at luxury salons in the bay area too. Did the prices for hair products increase with Trump too??!? Sheesh. They were nice, talked me through the right shade for the balayage according to my skin tone and then she proceeded to take out a calculator to show me the cost. I was pretty shocked to see the cost, but I already made arrangements to get my hair colored that day so I begrudgingly agreed to proceed. Maybe I should have negotiated or asked if that total included tip? My hair is medium length and layered and the ash blonde/brown came out really nice, but I am still kicking myself for paying this much. I would have expected a nice head massage, complimentary tea or something for paying this much with a balayage, but it was a professional balayage with basic service/experience.

She is a talented young lady with a professional, creative, and precise eye for any lady's hair cut and/or color. Kristin has been my hair colorist and stylist for 12 years. She has taken me from blonde to brunette to auburn to cherry and back again. She has sculpted my hair from long and layered to short and a-line. I honestly walk in give her an idea of what I might be interested in and then leave it in her hands completely. To say I trust her, is an understatement. If I walked in tomorrow and said, "Surprise me!" (and this has really happened) I know I would still leave blown away and looking fabulous! I am blessed to know her and have her in my life to keep me looking fresh and chic. Kristin's work has even been appreciated by 80's Movie-Star and leading actress of ABC's 'The Secret Life of the American Teenager', Molly Ringwald. Back in 2010, Ringwald saw and complemented the hair-do of a Nordstrom employee, who is one of her clients. Ringwald then booked an appointment with Kristin the same day, and had her color revived and refreshed. To summarize, no matter what you are looking for hair care wise, Kristin is the stylist you can trust to make you look your best. Stellar Luna is such an appropriate name for this salon; if I could, I would give Kiera ALL OF THE…read moreSTARS on Yelp! I first found Kiera about 5 years ago when I was trying to pick a stylist to do my wedding hair cut/color. I had never gotten my hair colored before and I looked hard to find someone I could entrust with this tremendous task. After extensive research online, I found Kiera and I could not have made a better choice! Kiera did a phenomenal job - she crafted an absolutely perfect balayage and haircut that looked JUST like the reference photo I showed her. It was perfection. She is SO knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and knows how to make the color look naturally beautiful. I went back to her for my wedding hair and was equally stunned with the results (we added more highlights). I've been seeing Kiera since then and, not only does she always get the looks I want just right (even that one time I showed her Sleeping Beaty, the cartoon, for reference ), but she has the most AMAZING personality and is an all-around wonderful human. There is no one else I would rather do a 3-hour color treatment and haircut with. She is so fun to talk to and I always leave feeling refreshed in both hair style and spirit. Cut to a few years later - I was so excited when I found out Kiera had opened her own salon - and right at the onset of COVID no less! She has done such a great job with the place. Stellar Luna feels warm, welcoming, and has followed all COVID protocols for a safe-feeling visit every time. Not only that, but Kiera really takes the time to listen to what you want. She explains everything thoroughly, and works with you to make sure you achieve the style you're after. She is only satisfied if you are satisfied. If something is not exactly right, she works hard (and overtime!) to fix it. One time my toner went on a little too hard (after a break from hair coloring during COVID) and she immediately brought it to my attention and asked if I wanted it lightened more. She ended up doing a second round of balayage right then and there to make sure I got the exact lightness I wanted. Similarly, she goes above and beyond with hair cuts. I was unsure about the amount of texturizing I wanted on my latest bob and she insisted that she can either add texture at that same visit, or I could give it a week and if it's not right I could come back to add some texture. It ended up being perfect and she was right to hold off on texturizing, but I really appreciated the thought and care and the ability to text her if it wasn't quite right. She's also super receptive to questions I've texted her before a visit, including looking through a Pinterest board I created to see what I had in mind and advise ahead of time. I could go on forever, but in short, Kiera is AMAZING. You will not find a better colorist or a more caring and wonderful stylist! I love her to bits and would recommend her 1000 times over! Thank you Kiera!! (Photos attached from various sessions over the years)

She completely over bleached my hair and then gave me a completely different hair color that wasnt even on inspo picture! I had told her that I wanted a balayage hair coloring... instead of informing me that the picture that I wanted was not a balayage.. and that it was actually a partial highlights.. She decided to make her own color and choice of how my hair should be looking...I had showed her a picture of exactly what I wanted a week prior to booking appointment with her ... and she decided to wait to correct me after the damage was done and I was already complaining to her. When I was telling her day after day of how ugly I was feeling and just wanted my money back so I could fix my hair professionally... she did not care at all, and just kept responding telling me to "understand her business" and how "it took her three hours to do my hair". She then wanted to agree on giving me 50% of my refund back because "It was because I don't like color" she still was not taking accountability for her mistake...I then explained to her... that would mean that I paid $125 for her to mess up my hair... this makes no sense at all and was extremely unacceptable.. I then had to threaten her with a yelp review after the 6th day to be able to finally get my 200$ back.
