We came in for a pedicure with my bf sister and they sat us down pretty quickly before I got the chance to ask for the prices and the lady was already setting up the water before we came up with an agreement for the prices and when she told us it'll be $110 me and my bf weren't sure if we wanted to continue since it was bit pricey and we were trying to tell her that we didn't want to continue the service but she was already getting started and when we told her we didn't want to continue she got upset and gave us a bit of attitude saying we wasted her water and the liner bag and when she got up to put the stuff away she said something in her own language which I couldn't understand but I could tell she was angry at all. Another lady came to my bf sister and had dried her feet off since it was in the water and the lady that was mad told me to get out of the chair and I was like well can I barrow the towel to dry my feet and she didn't say anything so I grabbed it to dry my feet and she took it out of my hands when I wasn't done drying my feet. I just didn't like how when we came in already she already had an attitude like she was mad before we came in and I also wasn't sure if I'd like someone doing my nails if there mad and upset. TLDR: Drill use for gel manicure removal caused pain and lasting damage. I went here regularly for a year for gel manicures, and over that time, my nails became very thin and unhealthy. At first, they removed my previous gel polish by wrapping and gently scraping, but after the first couple of visits, they began using a drill instead. I wasn't used to that, but I trusted that they knew what was best. Unfortunately, the repeated use of the drill took off significant layers of my natural nails. Over the course of the year, my nails became weaker with each application. During my last visit, my fingers actually burned while curing under the lamp, and I had lingering burning and aching pain afterward. It has taken six months for my nails to recover enough that I can finally clip off the damaged areas. I've had to use nail wraps because my nails were too frail to leave uncovered, and even then, only glitter wraps looked decent because smooth finishes showed the damage underneath. At my previous salon, drills were never used for gel removal. I understand that using a drill might save time, but in my case, it caused real harm. I hope this salon will reconsider using drills for gel polish removal, especially for long-term clients. read more

I came by with my best friend on a Saturday 12:30 pm appointment. I got a full set of acrylics done while she got a regular manicure. The work done on my nails were perfectly done this time around while hers had the same problem i had last year where the paint wasnt fully on the nail as in there were still side spots missing. My friend should have said something but since its her first time getting her nails done, i let it slide and i wont blame the manicurist. For me, i am definitely improving my score from a 4 star to a 5 star because of how my nails turned out this time around. For a full set of acrylics with an ombre design, it costed only $65. For a manicure, it costed only $25. Overall, even with me moving away from the area and exploring around different nail salons, Sola Nails continues to be the best nail salon i have been to. I would not recommend. I am in town for a few days and walked to Sola Nails to get a little pampering before a party tonight. I regret that decision. First. the technician asked if she should cut my nails. I told her that I would prefer that she shape them, that like my nails longer and to cut only what very little was necessary if she only had to even them up. She then proceeded to completely ignore me to cut my nails so short they're down to almost the pink. WTAF?! Did my longer nails and the words I spoke not have given her a clue. I'm so mad. I told her I wasn't happy, but it was too late. What was I supposed to do? She then moved to the other, but she didn't even cut these evenly!! They're not all the same length. They look ridiculous. I'm embarrassed. I could have done a better job myself. The pedicure experience was adequate at first, but I don't expect to wince, which I did. She used an electric tool to buff my feet, and now I have a very tender spot on the side of my left foot. My left big toe nail was cut too short and hurts when I wear shoes. Finally, after over an hour, the polish on that toe wasn't dry and is effed up, so I'm going to have to get them redone, because I don't the same color to fix it myself.! I paid over $70 with tip for this? i could have done a better job myself, and I'm blind in one eye. This is an effin mess. I am frustrated and angry. I do not recommend. read more

Finding a great nail salon is rare these days but I am extremely thankful for the ladies at Sola Nails for consistently providing exceptional service and working hard to make sure clients are satisfied after every appointment! With that said, I've been a familiar face at Sola Nails for the past 4+ years and I appreciate the level of details, craft and entertainment these ladies provide. My go-to gal is Nicole- who is exceptional at doing acrylic nails (full sets, fills, shellac as well), she also knows the best nude colors and has a keen eye for shaping your nails perfectly whether it's coffin shaped or squared off. For my pedicures, I admire Holly for her gentle hands and great care in helping my toes look as pretty as my nails (because believe it or not, our winter toes can get pretty ugly hidden behind socks and shoes all these months). Attached to my review are a few pictures of my nails- done in the past. I've gone from acrylic to shellac+acrylic, square short nails to long coffin nails. Ranging from $20 fills to $60 acrylic ombré sets. These ladies can do it all! In response to COVID precautions at the salon: they take things very seriously by making sure all clients are washing their hands before seated, getting their temperature checked and ensuring every client has filled out a form for their record. There are clear acrylic dividers between your technician and yourself at the table. There's also dividers between certain nail desks. Technicians are proactive at wiping down everything. This is definitely a place one can trust for getting their nails done. Lastly, it is recommended to book an appointment although walk-ins are welcomed. Nancy is the sweetest greeter/manager, that makes sure to accommodate you in their busy schedule. Usually waitlist can range from 20 mins-1 hour depending on how many appointments are ahead on a given day. Been coming here for about five years. My wife use to get her nails done here but stopped after feeling rushed in and out time after time. Today I was told there would be a 30 min wait and I informed the main lady that I am on my lunch and asked if I could run an errand and come back. When I came back less than 30 min later they said they could no longer see me because they started services on someone else. Honestly, the wait wasn't bad because I've waited longer at other salons. My first impression of the salon was the cleanliness and how spacious it was. The staff are so friendly, it was refreshing going to a nail salon where everyone was sweet. Compared to other salons, I always felt rushed because staff are always trying to haul in as much customers, but at Sola I didn't feel that way. This nail salon is run by many women - both very experienced and inexperienced nail technicians. I had a run-in with a careless, rude and inexperienced technician recently. She over cut my cuticles, cut my nails too short and didn't change my nail color when I had asked for a new one (only one nail was painted at the time and the color did not match the color swatch). Manicure was a shotty job at best. The nail polish was too thick, clumpy, goopy. It ended up bubbling and there were some holes that appeared in the polish as a result. Worst manicure I've ever received - should!'t have tipped the lady either. I ended up going to get my nails redone the following day at a different salon. This was my first time coming here, I called in because my husband and I were in the neighborhood and wanted pedicures and she was able to get us in 10 minutes from when I called in! The salon is cute! They had a lot of techs in there and they were quite busy but got us in and took their time with us. I live in the Renton area so coming out to Burien is rare for me. Although it's not extremely far (15-20 min depending on traffic), I would not have personally chose this nail salon on my own (only because I can find so many others close by). However, my prior manicurist (Nina) moved to this salon recently and I have been coming for 3 months or so now to see her! The salon is large and welcoming. It is not as new as some other places I have been to but it works! The owner (Nancy) is super nice and friendly and knows all her clients by first name (I love this). I've been here on both busy and slower days, walk-ins are always welcome as they are anywhere else but I always (and recommend) make an appointment. They have a ton of polish options (regular, gel, powder) and colors to choose from. They also have a stamp card system, you can redeem some type of service (not sure if it's completely free or discounted) after 10 stamps. I'm halfway there! I have not gone with any other manicurist but Nina but looking around, everyone seems to do really great work. I am not picky about who does my pedi (got one here) so I went with whoever was open and it was good. Would highly recommend this nail salon. So, I came into Sola for only the second time. Today it was busy and full! This is a huge place, so I was a bit surprised. I only had about a half hour because I was doing a pick-up at the airport. I was greeted immediately by a technician who said the wait would be about 10 minutes. I told her I was super short on time and would come back later in the afternoon. She asked me how long I had, I told her and she said they could get the job done. So, I waited. After about 15 minutes they called me back and said they could get my shellac done before I needed to be at my pick up. I was skeptical, but said okay! So, we're going along! My tech is Holly. Super nice, and really good. As I'm sitting there, not only does she apologize to me for my wait, but two other techs come by intermittently and apologize as well. Interesting! Curious? They care about customer service? Nice! Needless to say, Holly was quick, extremely efficient and very friendly! I received the full experience, yet got it done in half the time and did not feel rushed! I don't know how she did it because my nails look awesome! I have them done in a regular basis, so I know how they are supposed to look! AND, I had time to spare for my pick up at Sea-Tac considering he had to wait for bags and all! Nope, this place isn't sanitary. 1. They don't sanitize their tools. As I was getting my pedi, the gal grabbed the dremel/filing tool that the gal next to her had literally just been using on another client. She had started on my toes before I could protest. Let's hope I don't get toenail fungus. 2. Sloppy polish application on my hands and toes. I have done a better job at home. 3. When requesting a rather simple design (ombré glitter), my manicurist refused. The manager stepped in to do the job. 4. Both the mani and pedi gals were rough on my nails and cuticles. It stung when they applied alcohol/acetone. Again, I hope I don't get an infection. 5. The "massage" for the pedi was a joke. Folks, one generally doesn't need their shins massaged. 6. Adding because I forgot in my original review: they don't use the pH bond on their shellac. I got my mani yesterday and it's already starting to lift. I give them one extra star cause they managed not to make me bleed. That's about it. read more

I went in on March 22 for a #2 pedicure, it comes with a complementary drink which I wasn't offered but that's okay! The lady did things in a weird order to get me done faster but as I wasn't wearing my glasses I left thinking she had done a good job. I take pictures in the car to send to my husband and they look horrible my toes look so bad. I wanted to cry, I went ahead called the salon since I had to pick up my son and they said to come back later. I came the next day as my nails literally got worse?! How is that even possible my big toe had an air bubble in it and it was definitely noticeable. (Forgot to get a picture of this) They sat me down and just fixed the big toe nail but then when I ask if she was going to fix the rest, I'm talking simply remove the excuse nail polish with some nail polish remover, they all looked at me as I was crazy to even ask. I speak Vietnamese because of my in-laws and they literally called me annoying and high maintenance. I left even more upset then I had came in. I love Sola nails! They are consistent and I have never had a bad experience. Holly did my nails today, but everyone here does a great job. I like a manicure with shellac. Holly works very quickly but she always goes back to double check and make sure everything is perfect before they send you out the door. This place does get very busy on the weekends so make an appointment if you can. They employees are all friendly and include the customers in the conversation if you want.
