Not too talkative of a lady, (if I didn't talk she didn't), which was nice that she didn't pry into my personal life as other nail techs have before. It took her an hour and 25 min to do a full set I showed her a pic and my nails look nothing like I wanted them to but I didn't have enough time for her to re do them because I was on my lunch break and already 20 min late. I would go again! For $16 I got a polish change (fingers) and brow wax. The polish was replacing a poor job I got last weekend. I've had it on for an hour and can't stop staring. The polish reaches both sides of my nail (which it should always do) and is super cute. After painting one finger the gal checked with me to make sure I liked the color and after she was done she offered me sparkles of the same color before putting the top coat on. She wasn't overly chatty, made me feel comfortable and didn't scold me when I accidentally bumped my wet nail against the fan causing a smudge. read more

I've been coming here for 20 years and the quality is unmatched. I get my nails done every 3 weeks, on the third week I'm still getting compliments on my nails. Nice ladies. These services are worth the money. Almost over a month after receiving a full-set here, I finally broke a nail while the other nails continued to hold on tight. I finally had to pry them off myself b/c they were done so well, but I just wanted a break from acrylics. And even after removing them, I found my real nails not as thin as i'd usually expect after a full-set. I always notice air quality and so I would only recommend perhaps an anti-humidifier. My friend told me about this place and after reading all the rave Yelp reviews, I decided to check it out. The location is a little hard to see right off the street and the parking is limited, but I came on a weekend afternoon and was able to get a spot with minimal fuss. I also called ahead to make an appointment and arrived right on time. I had to wait about 5 minutes for someone to begin working with me, but in comparison to most other nail places this definitely was not a bad wait time. SO, I really wanted to love this place because it's close to home and the staff is just incredibly warm and friendly, but I am really unsatisfied with my shellac manicure. The lady started and about halfway thru applying the color, she decided that it wasn't coming out right and took it all off and then reapplied everything. I've had shellacs done before so I know what to expect, so I'm thinking my nails may not have been cured correctly because they are not very shiny and are rather dull looking. I got this manicure done last Saturday and not even five days later, nearly all of nails have started to chip, with the polish on two of the fingers almost completely gone. Le sigh. I may come back in the future to try them out for another service because I really did like the people working there, but wasting $25 on a manicure is something I don't think I'll be taking my chances with again at this location. read more

I'll come back, but I'll let her know to be a little more gentle next time since I have thin nail beds and over filing makes red rings in the nail bed. **Update** 12/12/11: I've been going to Star Nails for 3 months now. I love the great service that I get from V and I love being able to walk in on a Monday and get in right away. She is gentler with the filing and does a beautiful job. I would recommend anybody for a new salon to check them out. Fill with polish is $15, Fill with French tips are $20. They are open 10-7, closed on Sundays I think. read more

I have been going to this nail salon since my senior year in high school, and I'm 25 now. I have been to several other nail salons, and this is by far my favorite. I haven't been getting my nails done for more than 3 years, so I haven't needed to go get my nails done for some time. When I visited my boyfriend in late September, I got my nails done (at a different salon at the Super Mall. Avoid that one at ALL COSTS!). I needed a fill when I got back from Texas, so I made an appointment there. i walked in and they all remembered me after more than 3 years. A month later, I came in with my sister and they all remember her as well. They offer a variety of colors. I like them because they have a lot of brighter colors, which I love. I hate boring nail colors. That also have a lot of air brush designs offered. And I mean A LOT. Parking is a lot better now than when I use to go there back in my high school days. There's a lot next to them that is the parking lot of a small Chinese restaurant. The old owners of the place would never let Stars' customers park there, but the new owners of the place are now (thankfully) totally cool with people parking there. Mostly since now they have more customers who want to go there and eat after they get their pretty new nails done! They offer a variety of services. Spa pedicures, manicures, french tips, and waxing. Prices are average and very reasonable. A full acrylic set it $20, I believe. And a fill is $15. A pedicure is $20. I'm not sure about the waxing, but I think it starts at, possibly, $7 for your upper lip wax or something. All three of the ladies who work here are great and all talented. And I was noticing lifting after a 4 days and worse of all I get them quite short so it's not like they were too long and I overstressed it somehow. Went here only once but you better believe I will be coming back again. Went in at the last minute to get my eyebrows done and I usually go to this other lady named Gina down the street but they were completely closed. This place here still had folks in it. I caught Dee (the eyebrow lady) on her way out and she agreed to do my brows real quick. 7 minutes later their done and man... She does a better job then Gina. It costs $2 more but I gave her that plus a $10 for doing a great job on the run. Not sure about the rest of the salon but from the expression on the faces of the women getting there nails done I would say they sure seemed happy with the service. I came to this nail salon with my sister on vacation and we did not have a good experience. I wanted to another gel polish change as the gel already on my nails were peeling and it was about time to have them off. My sister also wanted gel as well. Since I already had gel on my nails, the lady soaked them in acetone cotton ball wrapped with foil yadda yadda then moved on to work on my sisters fresh nails. I knew she wouldn't be able to work on me right away and that's fine, but she had me sitting with the foil for 35 minutes! At least take them off of me. That was my first problem. When she did finally start to work on me, which was after she finished the entire gel process on my sister (there were only 2 ladies working. The other young girl was attending another client) she was standing up the whole time. Like lady, I would feel a whole lot better if I knew you could see my nails. I wanted a French tip shellac and when she was doing the white tips, she kept missing the ends. I had to inspect each nail and make sure the curve was perfect before putting my hand to cure or else I would have been more annoyed than I already was. Then when she did the other side, she didn't use the other hand as a guideline. My third problem I had is that..you know when they accidentally get polish on your cuticle they wipe it off with their nail? Well her nail was touching the side of my nail in the process, and not my cuticle. So I have a line down the sides of my nail from her imprint. From far away they look fine but from close up you can clearly see lines. It was much worse for my sister because she chose a burgundy color and the lady took off a line of the polish. If you have to come here, I would suggest the younger girl who works here. Or try another place entirely since the place was dirty when we came. I've seen cleaner establishments. read more

I have been to 4 salons so far in the area - trying to find a GOOD regular spot - and i think this may be it. My fiance made me an appointment. A young woman by the name of Monty was able to help me. She did an amazing job. My nails are the right shape, she knew what the word SHORT meant. She was gentle, but fantastic. She is fluent in English, there were no language barriers or concerns. The prices were decent. It was 17$ for a fill. They even have airbrush here... no one does that anymore. The decor needs some work, but it didnt bother me any. After reading the amazing reviews from Yelpers, I decided to give this place a shot. I've never been so impressed with a nail salon before! I went in for a fill, and there was a family of 4 getting group pedicures. So I sat waiting for a while and got a bit nervous as it approached closing time. They were all finished right at 7pm, and normally this was when they closed up shop. The woman apologized for the wait and sat me down instead of asking me to come another day. She noticed the butchering of my cuticles from the last place I went and fixed that as much as she could, took about half the acrylic off which made my nails much lighter and gave it a more natural look. She took her time and made pleasant conversation. And at the end I was expecting a $20-25 bill, nope! Charged $15!! I had to tip her $7 for the amazing rescue job she did on my hands. I will definitely be returning and recommending whenever possible. read more

I went to Star nails for the first time two weeks ago but I held off writing a review because the service was so exceptional that I thought it was only because I was a new customer. I went again today and I must say Wow! I will never go anywhere else again. I've lived in Bellevue for 2 years and I've been to almost every nail spa you can think off and one way or the other I've been extremely disappointed, if it wasn't with someone messing up my eyebrows its my pedicure or fill being jacked up. Driving the 30 minutes to Burien is very worth it. Vi (hope the spelling is right) rocks, she spent 1 hour on my pedicure, yes, I said 1 hour who does that anymore. Best customer service in Nail spa world is at Star Nails. I'm grateful. my eyebrows were just right and the price is reasonable so reasonable that I don't mind over tipping. The only down fall is you have to have patience because time is really being spent on you .( ha ha ) read more
