The service is fair at best depending on how busy the place is, but even mid afternoon it is slower than I would prefer. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Our waitress did a great job at making drink recommendations. I ordered a pina colada type drink with no alcohol. I don't remember the name, but the coconut rim added a nice touch. I like that you can have your drink alcoholic and nonalcoholic. I would order the drinks again and my meal again. The chile rellano plate came with a pork one and a cheese one. The cheese one was my favorite and the green sauce on the pork one was the best of the two sauces. I loved their salsa. Its was actually spicy and flavorful. I would get salsa to take home next time since I was wanting more the next day. The chile rellanos reheated nicely the day and I thought tasted even better. I will be back. As for the vibe of the restaurant, it was upscale for Utah and didn't seem super kid friendly. If you want traditional comfort Mexican food, do not expect that. read more

The decor and ambiance, cute! Trendy, nice. 4/5. Food: presentation 4/5, taste 0/5. This is absolutely not authentic Mexican, or at least in the way that I, a Mexican, have had. I ordered the filet appetizer. The meat was just fine and the redeeming quality. The white rice is interesting because why wasn't it Mexican rice? The chile de árbol had an unexpected taste; I don't think it's actually Chile de árbol. We also ordered chicken and steak tacos and the meat was SO DRY!!!! I couldn't eat it. The chips and salsa were great, and I love that they give you frijoles! Service, 5/5. Our server was super accommodating and friendly. Unfortunately, the food just wasn't good, so I will not be returning. read more

A group of us came for brunch on Sunday and the experience was mixed. Those of us who got the Sopes Benedict's had a really hard time cutting through the sopes and also had a hard time chewing through it. It was hockey puck hard and I thought I was going to break my teeth eating it. The flavor of the dish was fine, and I liked my carnitas on top of it, but the portion was tiny. We got the fresh fruit option for the side and the amount of fruit was really tiny as well, and didn't taste all that fresh. It was quite overpriced for what it was. The only redeeming factor was the flavor itself and how well they poached the eggs. Some of our party got the breakfast burrito, and they seemed to enjoy it more. They were massive, and the folks who got them were satisfied. Food things aside, the service was really really great, which is why I still gave 4 stars. Our waitress was wonderful and she also refilled our chips and salsa at the perfect timing. She was attentive and also came by to check on us at the right intervals, not so many times that it gets weird. Our waters were kept at good levels too. Overall, it was a mixed bag experience and we would still come back for the ease of having a nicer meal with people and the good service. read more

Sol Agave is always a safe choice when it comes to upscale Mexican food in the area. We came here today for my wife's birthday. We ordered the following: shrimp taquitos, carnitas, mar y Tierra and the famous butter cake. The food was good as always. The carnitas were fresh and delicious, shrimp taquitos are always a highlight. The shrimp served at sol agave is really fresh. I ordered the jar y Tierra for the first time and while it didn't taste bad, it was nothing to write home about. The sauce wasn't very appealing, my enchiladas were kinda cold and I couldn't tell there was filet mignon inside my enchiladas, it just tasted like beef. I'm glad I tried it but I probably will stick to chile Colorado next time. The butter cake was the star of the show today. Super crunchy on the outside and super gooey and buttery on the inside. The ice cream and whipped cream enhance this dish even more. I love sol agave, just didn't feel the appeal of the Mar y Tierra dish. I will definitely be back as this is one of our family's favorite restaurant in the area. Service was great, Gonzalo took care of us. Restaurant was super neat and clean. read more

Loved Sol Agave!! We don't get down to Utah County often and had this one on the list. So glad we were able to enjoy such a great upscale Mexican restaurant in American Fork. The ambiance was fantastic, kinda upscale, and a separate bar area was on point. I don't comment on bathrooms much, but even the bathroom impressed. The food was fantastic too! The chips and salsa were very good served with a herb bean dip and a mildly spicy vinegar based salsa that was very good. I love my chips and salsa and would give these a 5/5. We started with the guacamole, it was consumed so fast we didn't get a picture, but would highly recommend. It was freshly made and the plating was perfect with a splash of flavor added to the plate but whatever it was made a great add to the guacamole. 5/5 My wife ordered the sugar cane filet and absolutely loved them, highly recommended from our server. 5/5 I ordered the tacos de hongo, NY Steak, mushrooms, grilled onions and cheese in a hot skillet. So good. My only complaint is that the flour tortillas (2) completely fell apart and were useless. But the steak was so fresh and tender and cooked to perfection. 5/5 My Brother and Sister in law ordered the fish tacos and said they were very good. And we ordered the Butter Cake to share for dessert. It was amazing and a must order item. Can't really describe it to do it justice, cinnamon butter smear on the plate, warm butter cake with an almost crispy soft crust, filled with ice cream. 5/5 Can I go higher?!?! The ambience was very nice, and the server was exceptionally kind--especially after realizing I'd been waiting about 15 minutes without being helped. Once she stepped in, service improved. I ordered the Sol Agave salad as a vegetarian option, but it came missing key ingredients like the roasted corn and jicama. While the sautéed vegetables were nicely done, the salad lacked substance without what was advertised. The host tried to make things right by offering a dessert, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, since I'm gluten- and dairy-free, there weren't any dessert options I could eat. This was my first time dining here. While I wasn't fully satisfied with my experience, I did notice that many other guests seemed to be enjoying their meals. This place is bomb. Start with guacamole. They make it fresh, we always need more chips as we eat half before we even get it because of the delicious salsa. I'm a BIG fan of the sugar cane filet (I personally eat this as my main dish) and it's enough food for me. Our famous Carnitas is my second fav. Desert = Butter Cake, it's a must. If you're wanting an elevated dining experience, I would definitely recommend coming here! First of all, this place is HUGE! I had no idea until we walked in how big it was. We came on a Wednesday night around 7pm without a reservation and it was packed. We had to wait about 10-15 minutes to be seated, which wasn't bad at all. I would definitely recommend making a reservation here, even during the week - that's how busy it gets! Chips & Salsa: I made the mistake of getting too full from their chips and salsa - which came with a salsa and another dip that I can't remember exactly what it was - maybe some sort of bean dip? Whatever it was, it was delicious and we were scraping the little bowl it came in clean. Tequila Blackberry: Their margaritas are fabulous. I got the Tequila blackberry and it was great. Not too sweet and not too acidic. Aztec Quesadilla: They have a small vegetarian menu here and I got the Aztec quesadilla. It was delicious and came with lots of veggies and a side of wonderfully seasoned rice and beans. Came on recommendation and it was beautiful weather to enjoy the outdoor patio which has cute hanging plants, beautiful painted tile, and a fire pit. Heads up if you want to order a margarita they open at 11 but you have to wait until 1130. Not sure if that's a restaurant policy or a city or state policy but just so you know it might come out after your food instead of with the chips and salsa. Only mentioning this since we were halfway done with out lunch by the time it arrived and glad the waitress let us know about this else we would've thought it was forgotten. The cucumber margarita was refreshing and the tajin on the rim was a nice kick although it seemed light on the tequila maybe it was the bartender on duty not sure if they're always like this since it was our first visit. We ordered the Chile rellenos and the carnitas and both were tasty and cooked well although both were a little salty. Our waitress was knowledgeable and friendly and overall we enjoyed our lunch. The interior space looked nice as well. Would be a fun restaurant for date night or ladies night! The prices were higher than we anticipated but it's delicious so worth the treat. I came here for my 30th birthday and the service was amazing. it does feel kind of like you're walking into a club with the music selection and volume but the volume is worth it for the DELICIOUS food! Side of chilaquiles was just soggy chips with salsa verde. While their salsas were great nothing else was good/will not be returning. Ordered for to go, was expecting about a 20-30 minute wait maximum since there was about 4 tables inside the place since they just opened. Ended up waiting over an hour for one breakfast burrito which was unexpected for how few people were in the restaurant, unsure if they just forgot about me or if they're just really inefficient. Anyways food I received was cold which makes me believe they forgot about me. Burrito was about 90% eggs, and the salsa it came with was bland. I'd rather go to Betos and pay half the price for a better burrito. Overall pretty terrible experience, won't be planning on coming back. read more

This has become my favorite restaurant. I just love it. Fresh, delicious Mexican food. I have not had a dish that I didn't just love. The carnitas are salty and juicy. The Serrano green sauce is delectable. The mole was complex and flavorful. The butter cake is sinful. It's all just so damn good. Restaurant is clean and welcoming. It's a large space but fair warning this place gets busy. Use the feature on Yelp for adding to the waitlist during peak times. I hear there is one opening in SLC soonish.
