This restaurant is located inside the food lab. The food lab is a place with different restaurants inside. I walked inside the Food Lab and came across Soho Ramen. I walked over to check the menu out and noticed they had a lot of Vegan options to choose from. They have a counter and kiosks you can order from. After asking the person behind the counter a few questions about the menu, i decided to order the Salt and pepper edamame Vegan Ramen. After about 10 minutes my order was ready? I sat in the dining area. The edamame came in a separate box from the ramen. I tasted the edamame first they were basic nothing spectacular about them. The ramen was the star it was flavorful. I spiced it up a little bit just because I like my ramen spicy. All in all it was pretty good and the service was good as well. read more

The food court is definitely a great concept. Still have to wait line and place an order using a kiosk but no online ordering... I ordered my food at 12:11pm and got it at 1:06 pm. Mind you I ordered maybe the easiest thing on the menu, rice bowl with shrimp... Okay at 45 mins I attempt to get someone's attention, the girl finally comes to the counter and I ask the status of my order... she just looks at my receipt and says "not yet" I stand at the counter for few more mins at which point I ask for a refund they take my receipt and I go grab a chicken sandwich, that takes 7'mins to get... I go back to SoHo and ask for my refund and a Asian man comes up to me yelling saying "can't you see where busy" and I respond with "I asked the status from the girl and she took my receipt" This man is yelling like I just stole something. I just grab the food and walk away. !!!!!! Be sure to ask someone that is waiting for food how long they've been waiting before you even bother!!!!! read more

I am fully vegan and corn free and the first time I ordered here they put baby corn in my ramen. They asked if they could just pick the corn out even though I told them I was allergic. They did make a new one, but I felt like I had to haggle with them. They seemed utterly surprised that Corn and Baby Corn were the same thing lol! And the second time I tried again I found small chunks of meat in my ramen. Gave me the ick! read more

I stopped by Soho Ramen while in the area for business, looking for something warm and comforting. It's located inside the Riverside Food Lab, which is a fun concept space with all kinds of food options -- everything from poke to fried chicken to desserts. Prices lean a bit high for what you get, but that's pretty typical for a food hall environment. The vibe is mostly younger, with a heavy student crowd from UCR, so depending on the night it can get pretty lively (or downright rowdy) since they often run student discounts. As for Soho Ramen itself, I came in with fairly low expectations after seeing the mixed reviews, and the experience aligned with that. The food was... okay. Nothing terrible, nothing impressive -- just very standard, very generic ramen. If you're looking for a rich broth or something thoughtfully crafted, you won't find that level of depth here. It feels more like a quick, convenient option rather than a place that takes pride in elevating the dish. The staff also seemed a bit disengaged -- not rude, but very robotic in how they prepared orders. There wasn't much sense of care going into the food, just following the steps and moving on to the next bowl. It matched the overall "fast-casual" food hall vibe, but it does take away some of the warmth you hope for in a ramen shop. On the plus side, the ordering process is extremely easy. You don't need to talk to anyone -- just order through your phone or use their kiosk, grab a pager, and pick up your food when it's ready. If convenience is your priority, this place delivers on that. Overall, Soho Ramen fills the spot if you're hungry, nearby, and want something quick with zero fuss. But if you're expecting memorable ramen or a place that puts love into their bowls, there are better options outside the Food Lab. read more

This used to be my favorite Ramen shop. Last round however I ordered a Tofu Ramen with spicy miso and extra veggies. My Ramen arrived warm, not hot, and without the tofu. I was eating in so not a huge deal breaker, I went back and asked for the tofu. The gentleman was kind and empathetic, apologized for the error and said they'd correct it. I got a mild temp Ramen with cold tofu back. The tofu wasn't cooked at all and the soup was not hot enough to cook it. I hate giving poor reviews, but unfortunately this place earns it's two stars. I hope they turn it around, but I wont be back anytime soon. read more

Came to Downtown Riverside to look at Christmas lights so we decided on the Food Lab since theres a variety of options being that its a food court. I was craving some rice so decided on Soho Ramen - huge mistake. Ordered our food and was given a pager. 30 minutes pass and the pager still hasnt gone off so my friend decided to check with the lady at the register. Turns out our food was just sitting there getting cold. Not only did she not apologize for the pager not going off when our food was ready, but she didnt acknowledge it at all. Zero accountability. Took our order only to find that my order was taken wrong and I was given a rice bowl completely different from what i wanted. Not only did they not apologize for the mistake, but they made me pay for the difference, wait even longer for the second time, all for me to get food poisoning and a terrible stomach ache. If i could give 0 stars, i would and I dont even like leaving bad reviews. read more

I wish I took a picture, but the portions to pricing are so out of whack. I ordered the eel bento and the way they filled the bento box was pretty much 90% rice and the rest were the contents. The eel itself was such a bait and switch. The images displayed a sizeable piece and the actual portion size was literally just 6 pieces of scraps. It literally looked like they gave me some pieces that were stuck to the bottom of the grill/pan and I got the left over of someone else's order. I basically paid almost $20 for pretty much all rice. I also want to note that they are very inconsistent when calling for orders. For some people, they'll yell out the names and others they only text. I was standing there for a hot minute not sure if my food was ready because they announced the 3 orders before mine and they only texted me when my order was ready. Inconsistent, cheap, and the food was honestly so mid. The definition of over promise and under deliver. read more

Honestly? The food was mid, got an order of "Chashu Pork Bowl" but it's in a plastic container. It's like I ordered rice with a side of chashu pork... it took more than 30 minutes to get our order... my friend finished his shawarma he ordered from the next door store, my other female friend ordered a shawarma plate, got her order, and finished it... waaaayyyy before we even got our order. And then it looked underwhelming when we got it. Also, my friend who ordered ramen wasn't satisfied either. Overall, would not go back to this establishment. I'm usually not that strict when it comes to my food, as long as the portion is the right amount. Both food and service was disappointing. read more

Located in the Riverside food lab, Soho Ramen is a counter service restaurant. You order through a touch screen. Well, I was hoping for some great ramen... this was not it. We had two bowls of vegan ramen. It came out lukewarm. I think they are throwing cold ingredients into the bowl and adding hot broth resulting in tepid ramen. Some of the add on items were missing, but they did give is a whole box of fried tofu. Overall it was disappointing, poorly prepared fast food ramen. They need some quality control. Cannot recommend. read more

First of all, the workers today on 4/4 at 4:00pm were RUDE. I ordered a small white rice, Diet Coke and 6 steamed dumplings. It took 17 minutes and mine was the only order in. They were super rude to others in line too. DONT GO HERE read more

We had a very disappointing experience here. We ordered a spicy ramen, but when it arrived, the broth was not spicy at all. When we asked for the order to be fixed, the young man working at the counter refused. He kept insisting he couldn't remake it and would have to call his boss because he believed the order was correct. Even after we showed him the clear difference between our bowl and another spicy ramen ordered earlier, he still hesitated and spent several minutes on the phone. Finally, he agreed to remake it. However, when we got home, we discovered the new order was completely missing the extra chashu we had paid for. We used to think the food here was tasteful, but this employee completely ruined our experience. We will not be returning to this establishment. They not only get orders wrong, but they also refuse to take accountability when corrected. read more

We came to Riverside Food Lab hoping to try some new food. We came across SoHo Ramen and the first thing we saw was how ridiculous the price is. $19 for a salmon teriyaki bento box with barely anything in it. After we order it, what we get is so little. Tiny piece of salmon and low quality of food?? We were like ehh. After eating a few bites, we saw HAIR on the rice, we freaked out. We talked to the cashier and she only offered us to change the rice, bad customer service and they could've done more than just exchanging rice. The salmon also tastes nothing beyond salty. Extremely disappointed with SOHO Ramen in Riverside due to misinformation about gluten-free food and how the situation was handled. When my boyfriend and I visited, I asked the front counter employee four separate times whether the pork chashu rice bowl was gluten free. I also specifically asked how it was prepared and whether it had any sauce on it. She repeatedly told us there was no sauce, that they "only torched it," and that it was gluten free. When our food came out (in a plastic to-go container), the very first thing I noticed was that the pork was covered in sauce. It turned out to be hoisin sauce, which is not gluten free. I have celiac disease, so I could not eat it at all. My boyfriend went back to the front to explain the situation and ask for a refund since the food was misrepresented and unsafe for me to eat. The staff refused to help us. They called their boss, who also refused a refund, claiming they had "told us what was gluten free," which is simply not true. The "shift lead" (a girl in a red bandana) then started blaming us and trying to cover herself and her employee that initially helped us (a blue and white floral playboy hat) instead of taking responsibility. The only positive service we got was from the one guy there who felt bad but was in the end unable to do anything. We ended up paying $30 for pork chashu that I couldn't eat at all, not to mention the thin slices barely worth half the price we paid. If you have celiac disease or any serious food allergy, I would strongly caution you against eating here. The lack of knowledge, accountability, and basic customer care was unacceptable. read more

The food was pretty good tasting other than that they forgot the eggs and Naruto which was an upcharge in my bowl. There was way too many bamboo shoots in my food and one of my bowls was not supposed to have any but it had a bunch. When I told the workers the were very rude and didn't want to admit they forgot the add ons in my food. They gave me the add ons cold in little containers which weren't able to get very warm in the broth. The chashu pork was thin like bacon and wasn't the right cut of meat, it had a decent flavor but it was way too thin. I would say the taste of the food is good but the service is bad and the workers aren't concerned with the quality of your food or how they treat customers. I'd come again if there were different workers. read more

This place is horrible. The employees are rude... but it makes sense because the owner/chef is even worse. I honestly don't know how they are still in business with the attitudes they give. We ordered the chicken katsu and it came out kind of a grey color? And the smell. It smelled bad.. we tried to tell them that it wasn't right and the owner said, too bad, we already made it so you cannot have a refund. I wasn't necessarily looking for that. I'm actually more concerned that they don't care they may be serving you bad chicken. He seemed offended that I said his food smelled bad. read more

I went today to try their ramen. It was super salty and the broth was also really thick. I took it back to exchange it for something else or get my money back. Three people were working, but no one was in the front to help. They were all in the back using their phones, which you are not supposed to when handling food. Finally, a guy came to me and he didn't know what to do, so he called another girl. The girl was going to refound me the money, but she decided to call her boss. The boss told her not to refund the money and fix my soup. He told her to add more water to dilute the broth. I found that extremely unprofessional and not a good way to handle business. I have pictures where you can see the employees too busy in the back using their phones. No wonder they don't have any business and they are only 2.2 on yelp. read more

My wife decided to try the lamb skewers and the steamed buns, although the order took about 25 min, the food was well worth the wait!

Sorry to read so many bad experiences in their reviews. I had a solid bowl of ramen. My only gripe is that the size was somewhat small, but that taste was awesome. I got the Seafood Ramen and the shrimp was plump, fresh and well cooked. There were also mussels and a great broth, so no complaints in that department. Tons of old school Japanese dudes in the back cooking with Kombu seawee leaves, so everything looked really legit. Maybe I caught them on a good day or maybe they reinvented themselves after everyone tore them a new one on Yelp, but I had a great experience. Increase your portion sizes you'll be good to go. The other day it was raining and it was the perfect excuse to stop by for a bowl. I ordered the rice noodle bowl with chicken and it was so good. Whenever I'm in Downtown Riverside wife my wife/friends and we can't decide on what to eat, I come to the Riverside Food Lab. It's been a few years since I've eaten at this spot but my wife and I were in the mood for some Ramen due to the cold weather. My wife ordered a breaded pork ramen with spicy miso soup base while I ordered the Chashu pork with spicy miso soup base. I was given a buzzer to notify me of when my order was ready. I walked around and got some Thai tea from another spot and then came back when my buzzer rang. The cashier/server in the front asked me "Number 22?" and I responded with yes and she handed me my bag of food. I sat down and opened the bag and my wife told me the order was wrong. We ended up checking the receipt which had a totally different order and then went back to get our actual order. The breaded pork was pretty good. The Chashu was a little on the dry side. The spicy miso base was good and had a decent amount of spice. I'd be willing to come back here if in the mood for ramen while in Downtown but I think I'd take a second to think of whether I should go to Saku Ramen instead near the Mission Inn. read more

Soho Ramen is a delicious little gem located in downtown Riverside, inside the Food Lab next to the Historic Fox Theater. There are about 8 or more places to eat in the Food Lab, with Soho being one of the better ones IMHO. I honestly don't understand all of the low-rated reviews of this place, to be honest. I've eaten here about half a dozen times and their food has been wonderful each and every time. For those who don't know, Soho is a Ramen Restaurant on steroids. They don't have JUST Ramen, they have a variety of other traditional Japanese fares including Udon, Yakisoba, Beef Bowl, and Rice dishes. It really is a great place to eat when you want to try more traditional, non-sushi Japanese food. My personal favorite is the Chicken Ramen. Something I've found here that I can never find anywhere outside of Japan is an appetizer dish called Okonamiyaki. It's kinda like fried bread with savory sauce and toppings that look a little like a pizza. It's DELICIOUS and I was so happy to finally find it! Their menu really is quite large for a small place, so you have a lot of options to choose from, especially if you're a vegetarian. The prices are a LITTLE on the spendy side but not too much, and the portions are more than filling! The only "meh" thing I can really say is that it's one of the more popular spots inside the Food Lab, so on busy nights and weekends you can expect a wait. Also, bear in mind that they make your orders fresh, so it takes a little bit. Seating can be a bit of a pain too, but that's not their fault. This is because they are sharing seating options with all the other restaurants located in the Food Lab. Seriously, if you're curious about traditional Japanese "ramen-shop" style food and you want a delicious taste experience I highly recommend giving them a try if you're in the area! read more

Got an early dinner at Soho Ramen in Food Lab this evening. There was a short line, and the food came out about 10 minutes after ordering. I found the portions to be large for the price! The chicken yakisoba was $14 with tax, and the chicken rice bowl $12, but both were large enough for us to have extras to take home. The sauce on the chicken was delicious, however I found the meat to be a bit chewy. I'd like to come back on a chillier day to try their ramen! I wish the Food Lab had options for less single-use plastics, especially since we dine-in most of the time. The order came with a plastic lid, fork, spoon, and plastic bag. read more

The proportion from rice to meet is ridiculous. You take a few bites of the meat and left with a lot of rice. As for veggies.... One broccoli. How sad. DO NOT GO HERE!!! The service here is horrible and the cashier is extremely rude. I got the chicken katsu because I thought it would be a safe option due to the fact I'm allergic to seafood. When I got my order the aroma was extremely fishy and I realized they probably fry seafood in the same oil they fry everything else in which shouldn't even be done because fish makes other things taste fishy. The chicken also looks disgusting, there was a weird clear pattern on it but it wasn't fat because I know what chicken fat looks like. I went to the front and asked if I could have a refund because I'm allergic to fish and this was obviously cross-contaminated and the woman at the register was extremely rude in response and said she would ask the chef. She asked the chef and he was making snarky faces at us and waving his hands around while looking at us. When she came back they refused a refund even though I cannot eat it and my mom and the chef got into a bicker and he was extremely unprofessional. I was hoping for a 3 star experience but unfortunately it was definitely a solid 2 star one. I ordered the spicy miso vegan ramen and it was extremely subpar.
