But when I want something special, this is the place. Christmas Eve at our house usually involves crab cakes and salad, scallops and white wine, crusty bread, etc. This is where we fill the cart. We haven't quite lived up to the Italian tradition of the feast of the seven fishes; I usually manage four or five fishes, but this is where we get them. This year the menu was shrimp bisque, shrimp cocktail, crab cakes and scallops. Plus a few Fran's salted caramels as a stocking stuffer. No photos this time. You have to use your imagination.

Aside from the sales offerings, I still think the pricing on items seems a little higher than T&T and S-Mart. Shopping experience has improved a little as there are smaller crowds at the store because of the T&T effect. It was and still is a pain to check out as the line can be long. Wish they had self checkout. If you want a quicker shopping experience, shop here on weekdays and avoid coming in on weekends.

I just don't think the people that work in that department are happy to be there. I got screamed at one day when I asked when a fresh chicken will be out and he told that there are still chicken out there with anger when there was only two pieces of dry chicken setting there. The store is on the smaller side compared to other Eastside PCC locations. Store interior feels a bit sterile and usually quiet when I shop here. Not a bad thing if you like shopping in a less crowded store. And I will say the store interior is an improvement from the old store which looked dated. It is not my favorite PCC to shop at, but I will continue to frequent it when I am nearby and looking to pick up some groceries.

The store is clean, organized and always appears fully stocked. Of course, I can't leave without visiting my favorite aisle - the snacks! I'll typically pick up a couple boxes of Pocky since they have a wide selection with special limited edition flavors that you don't see just anywhere. My other favorites are the Koalas March and Asian-inspired Kit Kats. I will normally also check out the prepared and hot food items in the deli area. They used to offer bentos which I didn't see last time, but they had things like popcorn chicken, bibimbap, etc. I've gotten their fresh kimbap a couple times since it's a pretty good deal at $7.99 for ten substantial pieces. The beef kimbap was the perfect light lunch with savory ribbons of meat, cucumber, radish, carrot, egg and fish cake. A staircase near the liquor section (and nearby elevators) leads to an upper level containing houseware, beauty supplies and miscellaneous cute items. I loved browsing the dishes, Sanrio items and skin care products. On top of that, there is a Tous Les Jours attached to this H Mart, making it super convenient to purchase a sweet treat on the way out! I have come to this location several times over the past couple years and despite most customers having a cart full of items, the employees are very efficient with scanning and processing payment. They don't make much conversation, but have always been pleasant at the checkout. The parking lot spaces are a little tight, but there are plenty of them, so I've never had an issue finding a spot.
