Everything seemed very fresh and people were helped very quickly. Would definitely come back for fish if I was local.

Today, I am still a fan of Local Tide's food. I love their collaboration with their next door neighbor Aslan Brewing, which have become a favorite after work hangout lately with co-workers for happy hour. You can order food from Local Tide directly at Aslan and they will bring your food to you. Don't miss getting the shareable Chips with Salmon Belly Dip. That is sooo good and you might have to order 2 or 3 plates. It goes fast because you can't just eat a few, lol. The Salmon Sando and Salmon Teriyaki bowl is of course really good, too. But the surprise for me was their super good Smash Burger that is perfect with their home style fries. Both Local Tide and Aslan are two stellar businesses in Fremont. You can't go wrong patronizing either business. Support both!!! It is worth your time and money!

Local Tide was such a lovely find! From the food to the service, everything about our experience…read moremade us want to come back before we'd even finished eating. We loved everything we tried, but the shrimp toast was an absolute standout! I don't think I've ever had shrimp served in this format that was so plump and juicy. The accompaniments elevated every bite, adding even more flavor, but even without them, the shrimp toast was incredible on its own. The shrimp really speaks for itself! The rockfish bowl was another favorite. The fish is prepared like a patty and is SO flavorful. Paired with the bright, fresh slaw and soft, warm rice, it makes for the most incredible bite. Every component complements the others beautifully. We also tried the salmon belly dip, and the textures were fantastic. The chips taste homemade and are perfectly thin and crispy, providing the ideal contrast to the rich, creamy dip. The best part is getting a nice chunk of salmon in your scoop! The staff deserves just as much praise as the food. Everyone was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and welcoming, and their recommendations were spot-on. You can tell when people genuinely know the menu and want you to have a great experience, and that made our visit even more special. The space is small and intimate, with a friendly, inviting atmosphere. When we visited, it wasn't very busy, but I could see seating becoming a challenge during peak hours, especially since I didn't notice any outdoor seating. Parking is also something to consider, as the area seems to rely primarily on street parking. I'd recommend giving yourself extra time to find a spot during busier periods. I'm still giving Local Tide five stars because our experience was phenomenal. Those potential logistical challenges didn't affect our visit, and I wouldn't want to take away from an experience that was genuinely wonderful. The food was delicious, the service was exceptional, and we left already planning our next visit. There are still so many things on the menu we want to try, which is always a good sign! Local Tide has officially made our list of Seattle spots to revisit. If you're a seafood lover looking for thoughtfully prepared food and genuinely welcoming service, this place is absolutely worth checking out!

The only thing that didn't quite work for us was the Favorite Daughter drink, but they were kind enough to replace it with something else. They are using fresh ingredients, so know that they might run out of something. I think that's a good sign and should encourage you to try another day. I've been coming here for a few years now and then I left the city but whenever I do come back, I make sure to make a pit stop here. Why? Work is right next door to it. So that helps. I like their hot bar and salad bar. Always a rotation of items that keeps it busy interesting over time. What I don't think they are good for is snacks. Sometimes I just want something simple and not healthy and this place ain't it. I think this place is better for medium size shops.

Some grocery stores really stretch the definition of "local" to somehow mean selling fruits from California, but this market enforces a tighter definition of local meaning exclusively from Washington state farmers. The market is well spaced so that while it's busy, you're not packed cheek to jowl, and there's room to form orderly queues. The only downside of this market and the main reason I don't visit more often is that getting here poses some challenges. The light rail doesn't go here (I'm still waiting for a legitimate ETA for the Ballard Link Extension, really, how long can 8 miles take??) and finding parking is a nightmare. The other reason is that I'm always so tempted to over buy the hot foods and bakery goods since everything smells so amazing here!

Ballard Farmers Market was my favorite farmers market in the greater Seattle area for many years…read more Recently, the booth count seems to be less than before, with restaurants occupying the street space (understandably) along two blocks. Subsequently, I lost some interest since I don't live nearby. While I was in Ballard on a recent Sunday, I rushed to the market to see if it was still open. Officially, it was not; they closed at 2pm. But they were still packing up. I believe they are not allowed to sell after the official closing time; I asked one vendor, they declined. The staff wants the streets to reopen as soon as possible. As I walked the two blocks, several vendors still have some items on display on their tables. With a bit of wink, wink, accidentally dropping cash on the table and accidentally taking things off the table, I walked away with goodies. I won't say what I bought to avoid anyone getting into trouble. Street parking was easy enough nearby on a Sunday.

It's super convenient to have a HMart in Ballard so I don't have to drive all the way to Asian…read moreFamily Market on Aurora for some of our Asian ingredients. There are pros and cons to this market though. One big pro is they have a decent selection of ingredients for Asian dishes. I was making potstickers for friends last month and I got a medium green cabbage for $1.90, a bunch of green onions for $1.99, and a knob of fresh ginger for 12 cents. I also got two packages or potsticker wrappers for $3.99 (they are in the freezer section). I could have bought some of these things cheaper at a different market, but for the convenience of getting it all at one place, it was worth paying a bit more. Another pro is sometimes their prepared food section has some tasty vittles. Recently, I bought a large piece of grilled mackerel for $8.99. It was tasty but boy do you have to watch out for bones! Another pro is they carry the delicious and local Sugimoto brand green tea here and it's a lot quicker to get it here than to drive all the way to Uwajimaya's in the ID. Another pro is the free parking lot! Now, on to the cons. One major con for me is the super loud and irritating music blaring from the speakers. I don't know how the staff keep from going insane listening to this loud music all day long. Another con is sometimes the prepared food section is filled with old and sad looking foods. Like it looks like someone cooked the stuff hours ago and who knows how long it's been sitting there? Another con is I wish there was an actual butcher available to help with the meats. Like, I needed some ground pork but they didn't have it. They had some good-looking sliced pork tenderloin that I could have had them grind up for me like they do at some Asian markets but that wasn't an option. Another con from my fellow Yelpers is it seems that some of the plastic wrapped produce is rotting or molding inside. I don't buy produce here very much so I haven't encountered it yet and I hope I never will. So it's a mixed bag at the HMart in Ballard but I am still glad that it exists.
