Their signage by the parking lot

I came into La Pasta yesterday to get some seasonal Finn River ciders and a dried sausage. I love La Pasta so much-they have a convenient parking lot, and even if it was full, there is so much residential parking around that you will have no trouble staying awhile. I noticed they are carrying Alpenglow Mixers now. While I didn't get any of their delicious pasta this round, it is so nice to be able to experience a local farmer's market whenever they are open!

La Pasta is a local pasta maker that sells their pastas at numerous farmers' markets across the Seattle area. I like that their pastas come in many flavors and are not just the usual egg pasta noodles. I had a black squid ink pasta dish at a food truck earlier this year and was interested in making these noodles at home. La Pasta was the only place that I knew that sold this type of pasta. Price was reasonable as it was $6 for a pound of fresh pasta. I had some nice meals with this pasta and would buy it again. I would recommend asking for some pointers on how to best cook the pasta when you buy it however. It was a bit of trial and error for me in this regard.

    Asparagus and pancetta ravioli

Read the great Yelp reviews and stopped in to get everything for a pasta dinner. One funny thing, i stopped by the Morning side Deli which is right next door. I wanted to grab a quick sandwich one week before. The deli had no deli; only two sad looking, prepackaged turkey and American cheese sandwiches. They did have an impressive array of alcohol, but cannot get wasted on my way to work. After getting my dinner a La Pasta, I believe they just gave up on offering anything deli related. La Pasta has a great array of frozen specially sourced meats. They also have the kind of things that make a cook swoon. Saffron from Cyrus! Truffle dust! Flavored oil oil! Lots of other high quality items, that appear to be carefully selected. Just be warned, I can see myself going whole paycheck on this place. I first selected the asparagus pancetta ravioli and pomodaro sauce for dinner and a tiramisu. They were out of banquettes today. Oh, the pasta and sauce were lovely. The pomodaro sauce was so good. It had a pronounced tomato flavor and one is tempted to lick the plate afterwards. The ravioli were nice, with a delicate asparagus and pancetta filling. Would have liked a less pasta to filling ratio, as you quickly get filled up with pasta. Tiramisu was less impressive, so subtracting one star. Was saddened, as I was expecting more, due to the great pasta offerings. Their version is more like a creamy rum pudding cake. No ladyfingers. The creamy rum cake had a slight fruity, almost banana after taste. Very slight flavor of chocolate from the cocoa dusting on top. Could not detect any coffee flavor at all. I took a picture of their ingredients to show you. It was too rich and sweet for me. I could see buying ladyfingers, dipping them in Marsala and placing in pan. I would add expresso powder and La Pastas tiramisu. Put grated chocolate on top and let sit. Will come back to try meat, more pasta and sauces, cooking items and hand over my paycheck. It was a great find.

    Creamy Kale and Hazelnut Pesto

This is a small cute storefront that sells fresh ingredients for creating your own pasta dish at home. I got the Hot Italian Sausage ($14), Black Squid Ink Pasta ($9), and Creamy Kale and Hazelnut Pesto ($9). All ingredients were quality and tasty when mixed together. I'm not too sure how to describe these things as they taste just as their names would suggest. I have no complaints about them at all. These 3 ingredients lasted me 3 meals, which comes out to about $11/meal. That's not too bad for some fresh ingredients. I would definitely come back and try their other pastas, sauces, meats, and soups. They have a wide variety of selection and I'm sure it's all very good.

A box of Smoked Salmon ravioli

    - Yummy pasta, why don't you get some? - * This is for purchase made from the La Pasta in Kirkland Parkplace. If you assume the pasta quality is consistent, then you shall proceed reading :P Food: 4 stars Price: 3 stars Overall: 3.5 stars Food: On the box, it claimed the cooking time to be 6 minutes. However, the edges of our ravioli was still pretty hard. I think I cooked it for like 12 minutes, just like how I usually cook my dumpling (you know, add cold water once it boils, repeat 3 times). I used a regular tomato sauce with some stir-fried onion slices to accompany it. I'm out of cheese powders, so I just added some Italian seasoning and seaweed (I KNOW I KNOW! JUST FOR THE LOOK OK? haha!). It came out yummy even though I'm not a fan of ravioli. Price: My husband got 35 pieces of smoked salmon ravioli for ~$12, which is a bit pricy for me since I'm cheap. But it's an okay price as ravioli are usually really expensive in restaurants. Overall: Consider it's easy to cook, I'd give it a 4 stars. However, the cooking time it definitely more than 6 minutes unlike you like HARD ravioli edges! BTW, my husband got the pasta from the La Pasta in Kirkland Parkplace, so don't kill me if you can't find your smoke salmon ravioli in this store!

The finished product! Beet Pasta with Creamy Kale and Hazelnut Pesto. YUM!!!

This is an amazing neighborhood gem! It's in an unassuming building that shares a wall with a convenience store but don't let that fool you - this pasta is gold! I wanted to buy everything - on my list for next time: smoked salmon ravioli, lemon-pepper linguine, mushroom cream sauce... it seriously all looked heavenly. Very friendly staff and reasonable prices. This is going to be a neighborhood go-to!

I grabbed a jar of pickled asparagus and had to resist buying some really tempting dip they make in-house. As I was checking out, the staff person mentioned that the Tall Grass baked goods in the case were free because they were two days old and would be replaced the next morning by a fresh batch. So nice! I brought home a savory spinach breakfast item with me, which my partner greatly appreciated. Hint: Make sure you have cash on hand for a tip! They can't include tips on card purchases.

This place is absolutely delicious in every way! Driving past, you might miss it entirely. The exterior is almost secretive (perhaps that's what they're going for). But once inside, you step into a small Italian market filled with authentic staples. You'll find imported pastas, olive oils, sparkling sodas, cured meats, olives, etc. Equal parts neighborhood pizzeria and Italian market. The owners themselves came out and greeted our table, which immediately impressed me and set the tone. This place is truly family-run. A husband and wife from Hawaii and Italy who have created something similar to the movie "Nonna". Then there's the wood-burning oven that sits glowing in the kitchen, the kind that makes that perfect blister and char. We ordered the Burrata y Speck pizza ($23). San Marzano tomatoes, whole burrata, cherry tomatoes, basil, speck, and Parmigiano. It was outstanding! The crust is PERFECTLY crisp! Funny note* Look how they shaped the pizza as a heart for us on their own....how cute! We also tried the Bruschetta, which was equally excellent. For drinks, we shared a bottle of blood orange sparkling wine, which might have been the most refreshing thing I've had all day. A couple of things worth noting: - First, like most small Italian eateries, dining here is communal as space is limited. You might get your own table, or you might end up dining along fellow pizza lovers. Roll the dice and enjoy the experience. - Second, if you order something to go at the counter, remember to pick it up before leaving. I ordered the cannoli ahead of time to take with me, and completely forgot to take them with me on the way out. My fault. My only real suggestion for Via Rosa (should they need more business) is to lean into the curb appeal a bit more. This place deserves to be discovered IMO, but right now it's so subtle from the road that many people will drive right past without even realizing what they are missing. Which would be a shame because if you stop, you'll find a tiny slice of Italy tucked away on Bainbridge Island! Will ABSOLUTELY be back. 5 stars.

We were lured over to Due' Cucina after having a fantastic experience with their fresh porchetta…read moresandwiches at the Camp Yelp event earlier this month. Fatty and tender meat, dripping with juices, on top of the perfect focaccia with an ideal crunchy fried crust and airy interior, not to mention the excellent marinated eggplant, tender and filled with tangy vinegar essence. I couldn't wait to give their actual restaurants a try, and that's where we found ourselves over the rainy weekend. This particular location is open and clean with extremely friendly staff. Ordering is really easy on the 3 kiosks in the front, although the pasta chef/cashier is also happy to take orders, offer suggestions, and help with any questions. The menu displays the level of al dente to expect with each type of pasta but can be adjusted in the order notes. They also have a very convenient monitor up near the kitchen that displays order status, whether in the preparation phase or complete. I especially love how this restaurant has bar seating in front of the fresh pasta making station. We were able to watch as the chef mixed up a batch of fresh spaghetti, measuring out the semolina flour and water (at least, that's all I saw her add to the combo mixer-extruder), preparing the die, and then extruding the pasta. And yes, as with any high quality pasta, they use bronze dies for extrusion here! The pasta is dried on racks for a bit to really give that al dente bite when cooked. Suppli Al Telefono ($3.70) - An order comes with a single piece nestled in a mini fry basket. This is somewhat similar to the more commonly seen (in the US at least) arancini. It's a smaller log-shaped fried croquette, with tender rice cooked in a fragrant tomato based sauce, stuffed with tons of gooey, stretchy cheese, and then deep fried to golden perfection. The breading is fantastically crunchy, contrasting against the much softer interior. It's a great pairing of texture and flavor. (5/5) Short Ribs Ragu w/ Fusilloni ($14.90) - The chef recommended the fusilloni with the ragu. The fusilloni, essentially a larger fusilli that has longer "fins", has plenty of spirals and crevices to catch onto the sauce. The extrusion is a little inconsistent, with some pieces being longer than others and others being more spirally, a sign of manual hand cutting rather than being machine sliced. Per the menu, the fusilloni is cooked until a "2" al dente level. This is actually more al dente than most Italian restaurants, meaning the pasta has a very firm bite, yet remains slightly chewy. It's definitely cooked through and pleasant to eat, although trending towards the too al dente side. The pasta is only lightly sauced, but what sauce there is clings perfectly onto the micro rough surface of the pasta. Each bite is consistent in taste with all the rich umami and tangy notes from the red wine tomato sauce. The parmigiano reggiano adds an additional burst of savory saltiness and the short rib, rendered perfectly tender, is given in enough quantity to satisfy. Due Cucina really does serve some great pasta. (5/5) Rustic Porchetta Sandwich ($11.90) - With how great the porchetta sandwich was at Camp Yelp, this is a disappointment. The porchetta, while still flavorful with somewhat anise-like and garlicky aromas, is completely dried out and tough. It's like the pork had been pre-sliced in the morning at a central kitchen, shipped to the restaurant, then placed in a dry heat tray for service. After the meal I confirmed my suspicions with the chef - the porchetta is prepared off site and and driven over every morning. The focaccia, so airy and crisp at Camp Yelp, is also subpar in store. It's floppy, completely saturated with oil, yet feels dried out on the interior. At least the eggplant hasn't degraded in quality too much. While still having a bite (e.g. not super tender), it's grilled and marinated until tangy and savory in a vinaigrette. Interestingly they serve the sandwich on top of a bed of lettuce tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette. The oils in the sandwich drip down while eating to add even more flavor. (3/5) I know that their porchetta is high quality when fresh, but I think the way they have it set up now makes a sandwich that's still tasty, but definitely could be much better. If they choose to open a specialty sandwich shop that roasts the porchetta in house, I'd definitely be a regular. With Due' Cucina, though, I'd stick with the excellent pasta. At the end of the day, pricing is very reasonable. For less than $40 after tax/tip, we both left satisfied. What a rarity for Seattle nowadays. And as a bonus, apparently they refresh the menu often. According to the chef, starting on Monday, Due Cucina will be introducing new pasta shapes, sauces, and different sandwiches. I'll be back for more pasta in the near future! The kitchen is always in full swing, with lots of activity, and is open to the public for viewing as they prepare meals. I love the cost-reducing atmosphere of the place. The place is well lit, and the staff is pleasant and helpful. I had pesto sauce with spaghetti and a salad. The pasta was supposed to be al dente, but came to the table cold, with a bit of a crunch and a sticky-to-the-tooth texture. This really did take away from the meal. The burrata was okay, but it seemed to be better prepared when they first opened. Again, this is a place I have come to look forward to, and I enjoyed the previous menu. We did find seating and there is seating in the restaurant portion, as well as down the stairs. It's a cute little place in the heart of pike place. We got the lasagna casalinga, from the farm, and from the sea pastas. Lasagna casalinga: I love lasagna but I've never had a white sauce lasagna before. I really loved this and I loved it a lot more than I expected. It has peas, sausage, and mushrooms, made with in house bechamel sauce. I thought this might feel super heavy and rich since it was a cream sauce but it wasn't! It was creamy without the feeling of being "too much" when eating it! That's always my worry whenever I eat cream pastas or sauces, that I can only eat a few bites and then feel full bc it the richness. The mushrooms, pea, and sausage worked so nicely into the flavoring of the lasagna and the sausage was flavorful and seasoned well. I believe it's a pork sausage which in my option always tastes great. From the farm: this was my absolute favorite! I always lean towards ragu or bolognese sauce, it's my favorite dish because the flavors become so pronounced during the cooking process. This was a bison ragu with perfectly al dente rigatoni. The bison wasn't gamey and pair so nicely with the ragu because it was able to get in all the crevices of the pasta. We opted for burrata as a topping which gave a really nice creaminess From the sea: this was a spaghetti with rockfish, pea vines, leeks, and harissa. The pasta felt a little Asian inspired, in Chinese cooking we steam whole rockfish and pea vines are a very common veggie dish, so I loved that the elements made me think of my culture. The harissa also gave it a spicy kick which was reminiscent of having chili oil or chili paste on the side at dimsum. While I loved the flavors of this it wasn't my favorite because it was a bit too light. I really wished the flavors were bolder and more pronounced. Rockfish/white fish is very mild fish so the taste is very dependent on the flavors you add to it. However if you like light flavors and fish that isn't too fishy, this is great! This is a really fresh dish so even though it wasn't my favorite doesn't mean it's not a great pasta! I can't wait to come back to try the next rotation of pastas!

The fish were so small, like tiny pieces, I wish its bigger. My personal favorite of my dish is the Al dente part and the pea vine. Other than that mine was meh. The whole place is sooo cute and definitely a cute date spot!!!
