I don't think I've had Iranian food in the past! To start, I had the eggplant dip, it's definitely got a strong garlic taste if that's what you like. I then had a Persian and herb stew. I found it to be an interesting dish but it's also hard to describe as it's an explosion of all kinds of flavors. I also got the lamb shank, I like how the meat fell right off the bone, I also liked the sauce with the lamb. As a side, I had their herb rice. It surprised me as I did expect more flavor from it, it did taste quite mild

This place is incredible and has delicious food as well as really great service. Everything was flavorful and very well prepared. I would highly recommend this restaurant annual definitely be back again.

Sofreh is the kind of place that feels deeply personal--like being welcomed into someone's home, but with a level of care and refinement that elevates the entire experience. There's a warmth to the space and hospitality that makes you want to settle in and savor every moment. The food strikes a beautiful balance between tradition and innovation. Each dish honors classic Persian flavors while introducing subtle, thoughtful twists that make everything feel fresh and exciting without losing its roots. It's clear that every plate is crafted with intention, blending nostalgia with creativity in a way that feels both comforting and new. A truly special dining experience that manages to feel both soulful and elevated--Sofreh isn't just a meal, it's a story told through flavor.

The food here was outstanding! Maitake - grilled, with a slightly crispy exterior but juicy interior. It's served on a creamy and aromatic sauce. Noodle salad - probably my favorite dish. It's full of greens, beans, and noodles which makes it hearty, and a strong tart flavor to complement the herbs and spices. I had the smoked eggplant for my entree, which was a rich tomato and eggplant sauce with two runny poached eggs, which had a delicious blend of spices and interesting textures. This came with a flatbread, which was also topped with several tasty seasonings. My partner also enjoyed the catch of the day, which I didn't try. The saffron rice recommended alongside it was nice and subtly flavored with saffron and rose. The cardamom rose cake was incredible for dessert. The cake was moist and not too sweet, full of floral flavor from the cardamom. It's topped with a sour yogurt cream and orange marmalade, which was a great complement. The total came to just over $180 with tax and tip. This is pretty high, but I thought the food was worth the high cost. It's very difficult to walk in, but reservations aren't too difficult to find even the day before.

A lovely neighborhood gem for delicious Persian eats -- everything was delicious, but my favorites were the Sweet Potato, Tahdig and Tahini Date Salad! The servers were really nice and super helpful navigating a nut allergy. I'll be back!

Food (5/5) - Everything was great but honestly the best thing was the rosewater ice cream, don't sleep on dessert. Tahdig was great and is what people had recommended. Would also call out the date salad where the tangy sauce very much balanced out the sweet dates - and the dates weren't too sticky in your mouth as well, not sure how you select for materials like that really. The lamb shank fell off the bone and the sauce was equal amounts flavourful and hearty without being too greasy or leaving a sheen on your lips. The bread was put to very good use. Ambiance (4/5) - Can get a little crowded but we managed to get a nice seat right by the front of the restaurant looking out the front window to the street. Not too loud or too dim. Service (5/5) - Good recommendations by the staff and they weren't too pushy even though they were booked out for every seating. Price (4/5) - A little on the high end but fair for the quality.

The food took two hours and then the Manager, who was unreachable for the last hour, finally came out to our table, looked at us and said that's the industry average and turned around to leave. The waitress looked shocked and tried to speak and he literally put his hand up to her face and shushed her. I have never seen someone treat their staff or the customers this way. We were shocked, we asked for the check to leave without getting the and entrees. Note, I booked this reservation two months in advance for friends visiting out of town for a special occasion.

I would say this was the best Persian food I've had in the US! We ordered the Kabab Torsh and the duck Fesenjoon as our main dishes, and a Tahdig along with Faloodeh for dessert. Everything was fantastic, especially the mains! The restaurant's interior is chic yet cozy, and the service was excellent. For drinks, I had the Aragh Sagi, which was amazing, and my wife had the Sekanjebin Martini, which was also great. Overall, I highly recommend this place.

Wow, Sofreh was so delicious! I went with two friends and we shared some plates. Everything was amazing, and I have no complaints. I really loved the eggplant and whey dip along with the tahini and date salad! The restaurant is cozy and cute, with the staff being very kind and attentive. Our server helped us pick a rice to complement our main entree, which was appreciated! We were too full to get dessert but definitely would come back to try some more dishes and dessert! (Note: They put dairy products on the side since one of my friends is lactose intolerant)

Scored a last-minute Thursday night reservation at 7:45 for a group of four, and it was everything I hoped for and more. I'd been craving Persian food while visiting New York, and Sofreh absolutely delivered. We ordered some of my all-time favorites: * Eggplant and Whey Dip * Shallots & Yogurt * Tahdig * Lamb Shank * Dried Lime & Herb Beef Stew (Ghormeh Sabzi) Every dish was spot-on--beautifully prepared, packed with flavor, and perfect for sharing. The tahdig had that signature golden crust, the eggplant dip was rich and tangy, and the ghormeh sabzi was deeply comforting with its bold herb and dried lime notes. The lamb shank was fall-off-the-bone tender and full of spice. Sofreh strikes a perfect balance between tradition and modern flair. If you're in the city and craving a thoughtful take on classic Persian dishes, this place is a must.

This Persian inspired restaurant has a mild yet elegant look .the staff is personable and the lamb is amazing! My wife raves about this place and brought home some food . This place is not far from some deep competition but can hold its own!

Exceptional Persian food, but you already knew that. Ignore the 1 star reviews as they are misguided. As someone who is lucky enough to regularly experience authentic Persian food, this simply blew me away. It felt like each dish was crafted with purpose if that makes sense. Like, have you ever bit into a garlic piece and felt that its consistency and flavor burst just right? That's what I experienced, and that's why I love dining out. To simply experience what the Chefs have to offer at an immaculate level, something I can't just make myself. Let's start with the Aush. Now, I've had Aush before but not quite like this. The noodles were delicately cooked, surrounded by a thick (but not too thick) green herby sauce. It was served hot and was immediately devoured. So good. The standout of the night was the lamb. Seasoned to perfection and practically falling off the bone due its succulent-ness. If I were still hungry, I would have ordered another. It was simply that good. Finally, the pistachio ice cream was simply divine. Order it. I'm not one to exaggerate my reviews, so you will probably sense how much I enjoyed my meal here. Bravo, Sofreh. I will be back.

Came here for dinner with my gf and her friend. Absolutely loved the service and food here. The food was amazing. We ordered sofreh bread, tahdig, grilled carrots and yogurt to start. Appetizers were splendid, sweet, and balanced. Carrots were carmelized exactly the way I like them (450F for 20min.) very well balance with honey yogurt For mains, we ordered the catch of the day-striped bass served with stewed herbs and tamarind sauce (slightly spiced) Pomegranate steak, interesting combination and yet still good! Very much enjoyed this dish-sweet and savory Saffron rice Dessert- cardamom rose cake, this was myleast favorite of the night bc it was dense and not much depth in texture/flavor Overall: this was a very delightful for dinner. Everything came out perfectly except dessert. I could tell the chef utilized techniques that not many home cooks can easily replicate at home. Definitely worth a try to venture outside your usual palate 5/5 for me

My wife and I have a 5 month old baby. Would it be possible to bring a stroller with us or would it be best to leave it home?

It's best to leave her home. This is not a kid friendly restaurant & there is no space for strollers, car seat or anything else in between. There isn't much space between tables.

    What's the outdoor seating situation?

The have outdoor seating in front and in the back! Honestly the back patio is beautiful!

    Is the meat halal?

    No, it's not halal

I've made it a point to visit every vinyl listening bar that I learn of in town, after enjoying the shared experience of someone curating a select vinyl list in intimate spaces in Tokyo. Few have been able to replicate the experience, but Honeycomb Hi Fi Lounge comes close. That the space is narrow with just a few seats along the bar and a few tables mimics the Japanese experience best, where you can almost have it so the whole room is having one conversation together. The music is the focus. The cocktail menu is rather simple, and my Stormbringer drink, with dark rum and ginger beer was not anything to write home about, but $15 is pretty low for cocktails these days so I'll take it.
