We visited Sofra today for the first time and we're blown away. The owner gave impeccable service and even shook hands with our kids and greeted them. Went for the 2nd time today, but first time with hubby. Food is just as good as before (though they had gyro in the buffet this time). Chicken kebab is still AWESOME! The chicken stew is a close second, but the lamb stew is close behind that. The gyro was also excellent. I think their baba ganoush is even better than Fadi's. Geez! I cannot trust these reviews! I drove all the way down here because the reviews were so awesome! I feel betrayed by these reviews! I would give this place three stars but they charge too much! This is a decent mom and pop family shop. For close to $20 for a buffet and a drink and a coffee I thought it either needed to be more delicious or cheaper. My beef kebab I thought would be a better quality of beef but it was ground molded pate type beef that was roasted. It was good but not great. There were not very people in the restaurant but they seem to be inattentive and I had to wait a long time for my coffee and I had to get up and find them to get my check. Since it was our first visit, Ray showed us the buffet and explained the dishes from the hot and cold side. We then had our choice of kebab - me the chicken and Hubby the gyro. The cold side of the buffet included salads and dips. The eggplant dip and potato balls are favorites with wonderful flavor. You can build your own salad with fresh olives and feta as well. The hot side of the buffet included chicken and lamb stew. I surprised myself that I actually preferred the flavor of the lamb more albeit both were tasty. The warm side also had a wonderfully creamy and flavorful lentil soup. Then we had the made to order kebabs. The chicken was so tender that it melt in your mouth. Simply PERFECT! We have been here twice now for lunch. An excellent buffet. They add kebabs cooked when you come in because the owner says if they put them on the buffet they will dry out. Enter Sofra Kebab House. We have lived in Texas for only 8 months. The meal we had at Sofra was BY FAR the best meal we've had in Texas. I can even go as far as to say this was one of the best meals of my entire life.
