This review is long overdue. I started going to SoCo sometime in 2019. I knew immediately that this place was something special. There are a dime a dozen reflexology places in Sonoma County but none compare to the spa atmosphere of SoCo. It has a tranquil and calming atmosphere. Starting with the robust plants in the reception area to the burning candles throughout the spa. The bathroom always has fresh flowers, a candle burning, and soft light illuminated by string lights. And to top it off? This is the *cleanest* spa I have ever been to -- hands down. They offer the traditional clothes on foot/body reflexology in a communal room. However, my personal favorite is the 90 minute combo in a private room. It's a full body oil massage with 30 minutes dedicated solely to your feet. It's the best of both worlds. All of the therapists are great but if you go regularly, you soon find one who matches what you're looking for. I'm not someone who books in advance because I like to get massages on days when I need it. They can almost always get me in with the therapist I request on the same day I call. The owners Michael and Helen are amazing. They really care about your experience. I was in nursing school when I started coming to SoCo and they were always invested in asking me how things were going. I credit the frequent body work for keeping me sane throughout nursing school. ;) They were so excited when I graduated that they gifted me my regular massage! The prices are the cherry on top. In the past I've always questioned "massage places" open after 6... last week when we were so tired and aching and couldn't sleep- the wife got out of bed and said let's get a foot massage. In jammies we went and it was the perfect solution after shoveling dirt all day. We were immediately greeted and after giving our names, the receptionist thanked us for the referrals and confirmed the notes about injuries and pressure needs from the previous visit. Yes, our previous review was detailed and Michael followed up with that - down to a big ol' tub to accommodate Hubby's big ol' feet. Thank you!! The pressure was perfect for the both of us. Again a stellar $35 massage! And on that note - kudos for that price point. It allows for us to tip larger amounts that goes directly to the person giving the massage. I called and asked specifically if they did foot reflexology and they said yes. I made an appointment and told the woman at the front desk where I needed more attention on my previously injured foot. The masseuse immediately started on my back and neck, even though I was very clear I only wanted feet. I repeated feet only and he understood some of that, so massaged my feet for about half the time. Eventually he asked me to lay down on my stomach, but didn't understand/see that I was nearly 7 months pregnant (which shouldn't have been an issue because I ONLY wanted my feet massaged). Not to mention, the back and neck massages were fairly uncomfortable. I wasn't looking for the best massage of my life for such a low price, but I hoped the masseuse would attempt to do what I requested. I totally understand that the masseuses may not be fluent in English, which is why I communicated to the receptionist (twice - on the phone and in person) what I wanted. Then when I left, she chastised me for not telling her beforehand that I was pregnant. That should not have been a factor since, AGAIN, I only wanted a foot massage. I went to another masseuse across the street the next day and it was MUCH better. read more

I love getting a foot massage here. Amy is amazing. I feel much better and relaxed after the massage. With that said, I have had reflexology before and the "reflexology " here is nothing more then rubbing of the feet but nothing resembling reflexology. I would also like to comment on the time spent just rubbing my feet over and over but not with any purpose. I feel that the excessive rubbing is just wasting time. I wish that the providers would at least look at a YouTube video on "real" reflexology so they could be more effective. I won't continue to visit this place because I wish that I could get a hour (never a full hour) of actual massaging and not 15 minutes of needless soft massage repetition on my feet. Every time I visit it's the same thing. My friends who usually come with me say the same thing about wasting time. Instead of trying to figure out who I am , why don't you fix the problem of your employees wasting time? I mentioned this several times to you with no results. I know several of my friends, including myself who just won't return because you charge too much for what you get. I've had several different "foot rubbers"over the years and they are all the same. Soco is amazing. My mom, sister and I have been going to this quante little massage studio since it opened. Now its important to keep in mind that with the great price value of the foot refloxology that if you are looking for a full on deep tissue massage you have to pay for the deep tissue massages, not the foot reflexology, and the deep tissues are even more amazing. I absolutely adore the couple that runs this place, they are more like family to us now! My preferences vary so sometimes I like to have a lighter massage and sometimes I like medium pressure. They always adjust my preferences to heavier or lighter pressure massagers. Another comment I would have to say is that this place is extremely clean. Make sure if you request a full body massage, you specifically tell them you want your feet included. They did not include our feet AT ALL and when we requested it, Helen told us a firm no, and that feet are separate. We have never had an experience like this here before, but if this is the new standard there are PLENTY of other massage studios to give our business to. Ok...talk about a gem! If you're looking to add some "me" time to your life and the goal is to relax without your pocket book suffering too much then this is the place for you! Just tried to book a massage online, I get a message that my massage needs to be confirmed. Since I did not hear back, I called, I was told they could not take me at the time I requested, they needed me to wait, because they accepted another appointment ( a walk in I assume), could I come 10 minutes later. I explained that this happened to me the last time I booked and they needed to figure out this issue with the system. I would see them at the new time. Helen called back and told me I could cancel if I wanted to. I told her I accepted the new time and was merely providing feedback about the online booking system. She said she did not want me to feel stressed and I could cancel. I point blank asked "do you want me to cancel my appointment and take my business elsewhere?" and she continued her song and dance. Long Story Long. I cancelled, I have never heard of business calling back because of such a reason. If you are looking to relax and unwind, this online booking process might not be the one for you. UPDATE- From Michaels original response, he obviously cannot take feedback that his system has issues and this is not the first time I have encountered it. His mockery of a true issue shows he does not take this seriously. Sorry my frustration with the situation was not taken more seriously. I tried to call him and he laughed at me, when I said he was being a jerk by laughing at me, he hung up before I could say my review was honest feedback. Sad business owner in our beloved community. I am so saddened to write this review because the lady that answered the phone Helen was very nice However I would not be doing my job as an elite Yelper if I were not to write this review. Let me start off by saying that I am a regular client add another massage spa Therefore I am not a stranger to massages since I get these about once or twice a month. I received a gift certificate for a massage from this location and was very excited to try them out. As I mentioned the lady that answered the phone Helen was very nice. When I arrived Helen asked me my pressure preference and I told her firm, she also asked me areas where I would like focus and I mentioned to her the specific areas where I needed some extra work. A few minutes later a lady came in the room that hardly spoke English and proceeded to massage me. At first she was doing fine but after spending over half of the 90 min massage on my back, which was not one of the trouble spots I had mentioned, I was anxious for her to move to another body part because it was starting to get painful. Rather than doing that she got some hot stones and proceeded to massage my back even further, with very hot stones and she went so deep with the rocks that I squinted and moaned a few times from the pain, but she did not stop. She finally moved onto the other parts of my body but did a sub optimal job on those and moved very quickly. She also did some strange things such as massaging the inside of my ear. I left feeling that the massage was OK, a bit painful but not something I'd want to repeat. I would not be writing this Bad a review however had it not been for the fact that my back is completely bruised today. I can barely sit due to the pain on my soft tissue all around my shoulders and spine Which is not a normal thing to happen after a massage. Since writing this review I have been contacted by both owners Helen and Michael. They have been very concerned about my massage and very apologetic. I find this customer service to be special and perhaps worth giving them one more try to see if this was maybe a one off situation. They have demonstrated great Integrity in managing this, so if I return I will update my review accordingly. read more

Reflexology is a specific type of massage, and if you're expecting it to be Burke Williams or Spa Envy type stuff, then I would suggest to you to pick the other options Soco offers or go to those spas and pay the money. I am from Little Saigon in Orange County and I have been to some dodgy reflexology places that have been mediocre at best (I guess I shouldn't expect much from a $20 massage). Soco, on the contrary, was beautifully decorated, clean, and thankfully, not dodgy. The owners and staff I interacted with were very kind and welcoming. For $35 I received an awesome full body reflexology massage with David (medium pressure - you will be asked what pressure you would like it at, typically something along the lines of light, medium, or hard pressure). Yes there were some interesting noises, arm jiggles, and back karate chops but that's part of it and I loved it. I left the establishment completely relaxed and glad I ignored the rude reviews I've seen on Yelp for this business. read more

I have been there a couple of times now and every time it was great. The foot reflexology treatment is a whole body treatment focussing on the reflexology points. If you have a specific request, let the person at the front desk know and she will let your therapist know. Looking at other reviews: my experience is that the massage therapist will ask during the treatment whether the pressure is good and adjust accordingly. The website says book online, this is more of a reservation system. It's better to call first. My sister & I thoroughly enjoyed our massages at Soco Reflexology. I have mentioned to many people what a lovely experience we had. At the end, I felt so relaxed & the next morning, my lower back was not stiff at all. Amy made sure to focus on my lower back, as I mentioned at check in was an area of that I wanted to focus on. We just moved down the road and are huge into regular massage for both the relaxation and health benefits. As working parents of 2 young children, we cherish the hour we we get for massage every couple of weeks and hope for our money to go a long way. We could not have lucked out more moving down the road. We have gone in about 4 or 5 times now and every time has been worth every cent! They start on time, listen to any ailment you may have..I mean, actually listen, and provide wonderful massages. This last week they cleared up a huge knot in my upper back that was preventing me from being able to turn my head without pain and stiffness. Michael at the front desk is always a delight. He remembered our names by our second visit and the issues we had and made sure to clearly pass on the info to our massage therapist. Terrible experience. I have been coming here for over a year, my husband comes here and we have recommended friends to come. I just finished a nice 60 minute foot reflexology and paid with my British Airways VISA card. The man behind the desk said they paid for the points. I was confused and thought he was talking about his own credit card. I was also less than five minutes out of my massage. Eventually I understood he was telling me *he* was paying for *my* points. He went on to say I'm not supporting small businesses by using my credit card. Um, am I not supporting your business right now?? As I was leaving, he said "good luck with that hun"! My gosh! Really? I am berated for using a credit card? It might be better to not accept credit cards than berate your customers for using them. I will NEVER come back, I am going to let all of my friends know too. Friendly greeting and customer service when meeting Michael at my scheduled afternoon appointment. After a few questions about my style and comfort level of massage preference...I decided to go with the 60 minute reflexology session. Absolutely one of the best massages I've ever had (Paid over $100 plus tip for a massage up in Mendocino while on a weekend getaway a few weeks ago and it was ok at best). My boyfriend and I had a massage here this weekend and were highly disappointed with the service. We bought a 1.5 hour deep tissue couples massage, $200 for both of us. I was not happy with my massage because the therapist that I had did almost the same movement for 25 minutes straight and I was starting to wonder if she would utilize other techniques. The towel that was covering me had a hole in it and was rough, so I can tell it was an old towel. Lastly and most important, one man who I believe was the manager, basically coerced us into tipping 20%. He was a slick smoothtalker and we felt forced into giving the tip due to guilt, not because of a great experience. I was very upset after we left the business. I have never been required to tip 20% at any massage place and that lowered my opinion of their business after that. I did not believe that their massage deserved that amount of tip. Our entire total ended up being $240, a very lofty price for not even a well-known, high-quality massage parlor. I will not be coming back. read more

Michael was lovely on the phone and I was excited to get a massage that I really needed while on vacation. I asked for someone who works intuitively and asked for attention on a spot on my back and on my arm as well. The massage therapist I was paired with was young and kind and spoke very little English. It felt as though she gave me what seemed like a pretty cookie cutter 90 min massage, I imagine similar to most other 90 minute massages she gives. She did a good job in some ways, and did help my back to recover from a flare-up spasm. I was quite bruised the next day however, and am still very tender and bruised on the second day. My Aunt, who went with me, had visible bruises all over her low back. Strangely, the massage therapist leaned on my spine with the hand she wasn't using to massage me with, about 5-7 times with her elbow or arm or palm and it was quite painful and unprofessional. As a result, I had to ask her to move her hand at least 3 times, if not 4. She seemed, oddly not to realize this would not be desirable, and a couple times thought I wanted her to massage me where I was trying to get her to take the pressure of her body off of my spine, which derailed what she was working on and then took effort to try to get her back to the place she was. I asked her to work on my hips, but she didn't understand or didn't want to go off script, not sure which one. She never touched my feet. At the end, I had to ask and mostly show her that I wanted a little extra attention on my arm because she didn't remember or hadn't been told that was an area I had asked for. The language barrier was a real challenge for me so if you want to communicate with your massage therapist, I'd suggest asking for someone who speaks English proficiently if you choose to book here. Michael asked me for feedback when we were done, explaining that she was their newest member of the team. I respectfully told him most of these things (not in as much detail). He acknowledged that her leaning on the spine was an issue that came up when she was interviewing. He still charged me full price which didn't seem appropriate to me considering what I have explained above. For the company: I recommend more training before charging full price for work that is not up to professional standards and to clarify with clients ahead of time that their massage therapist may not speak English. read more

I have received 3 or 4 massages here. They were ok. I didn't like the bare finger in my ear hole, made me wonder what other ears they were in before mine, and if they were scrubbed under the nail to remove other peoples ear funk. That made it a little hard to relax. Michael was friendly, but seemed a bit off. I couldn't put my finger on what it was that was off, but tonight I saw a side of Michael that made it all make sense. I brought my 3 and 5 year old children to Safeway across from SoCo reflexology, and as we exited the store I heard and argument that sounded like a domestic dispute between an abusive man and his spouse. I quickly loaded my children into the car so they would not hear what was happening and I observed Michael yelling at two Hispanic women who were parked in front of the store loading ( or unloading) a crying baby from (or into) a stroller. He was upset because they were parked in a yellow zone in front of the store and he had to go around them. He had honked at them, and then parked his White Lincoln SUV and was verbally assaulting them. I heard him yell more than once to the driver "Are you inbread? Because your face looks inbread!!" I couldnt believe what I was hearing! I watched as he entered the store, then came back out and entered again acting like he was high or having some kind of mental break down. I drove around the lot and passed him 2 times to be sure it was him, and I made a positive identification. I was tempted to call the police. Michael, you should be ashamed of yourself. Your behavior is unacceptable. I am appalled at what my children and I just witnessed in this town we call home. You should not defecate where you imbibe! Update: I read your reply to this Michael, and want you to know that there is no excuse for your behavior! If you think it is ok to assault a woman, mother and child, you are wrong. I am not the person who was in the car that you were yelling at, I was simply getting groceries with my children, and walking to my car in the parking lot when I witnessed your abuse! I recognized you from SoCo reflexology and decided it was time to review your business. I would have stood up to you in the parking lot instead of "walking away" if I didn't have my children with me. I was born and raised here In this small county, and I will always take it upon myself to let people know when they are causing a problem in my home. Do you really think that yelling at a woman, and a mother, that she looks like she is inbred is acceptable, ever??? If so, who the heck taught you that?? You are an abusive man, and you need to seek help. Don't you realize how scary you look to a woman when you are out of control like that? This is what I mean by "off". You are definitely "OFF" and I will be sure to let my neighbors and relatives know about the kind of person who is running the business over there. You had the opportunity to accept responsibility for your behavior and acknowledge that you were in the wrong and you have chosen to defend your abuse, and I find that despicable. The age of abusive men dominating and controlling women through fear is ending. Time to wake up and change yourself. read more
